  • Today we discuss how your physical health and wellness go hand in hand with your development in virtue and growth in holiness. Dr. Kevin Vost joins us to address the huge rise in diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, liver disease, obesity, and other health-related illnesses in society today. We go into the false notion that you are either physically strong or mentally strong and that the integration of the two leads to a more grateful, loving, healthy, and holy life. Do we have a moral obligation to take care of ourselves and what is the correct balance?

    I workout and strength train for
    Multiple Reason;
    •I’m a soldier (US Army)
    •I’m responsible to protect my family
    •My body is a gift from God I want to preserve it as a thankful custodian of it.
    •I want to live as long as possible and not be a burden to my family for my family.
    •My wife deserves to have a husband that’s visually appealing

    I've always hated working out. I started working out as a mortification some months back. I've stuck with it (which is new to me) and feel so much better physically and spiritually.

    Healthy body = healthy mind.
    People in today's hectic hyper-consumerist world just need to rediscover the knowledge, wisdom and experience of our forefathers.
    In Catholic faith the main principles, how to maintain good health have been know and observed for a very long time.
    Church is teaching moderation; glutony and sloth are two mortal sins. Sugar consumption was considered a sin by many ancestors. Fasting is important part of Catholic life, for both, spiritual and physical reasons. (So it is in all other religions).
    Family dining together and a prayer before meal is a great habit, a way how express gratitude to God and appreciate the importance of good food.

      You have our prayers. Stick with it. I like to share some advice about strategy, traction, and momentum. If you find the strategy that you are currently using does not give you traction and ultimately momentum, re-strategize and start again. God bless.

    Love bodybuilding! I guess you can say Arnold started the push, seeing him as a kid, reason why I started in 1991. But Lee Haney is a guy I admire, although he's Baptist, he's an 8 time Mr Olimpia, has a great moral character and still married with the same wife! We need good traditional cathoilcs in that sport.

      I don't think there will be. Mostly because it requires lots of attention to self. Working out for health reasons is good enough.

    Wonderful presentation on an interesting topic. Current research by longevity experts such as Dr. David Sinclair from Harvard highlight the connection between diet, exercise, sleep, stress, with our longevity (to include the effects of our genetic code and how we can influence it). I've always felt embarrassed by the prints of the drunken, overweight monk/priest as being a bad example to others. The balanced approach that you've presented seems to be what our Lord intended. Exciting times.
