This is from the 1989 tour where she had TONS of special guests including Nelly, Wiz Khalifa, Justin Timberlake, Fetty Wap, Mick Jagger, Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez.. and that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head. Oh also Kobe Bryant surprised her on stage at the staples center and she’s remained in touch with his family. They were at one of her eras shows and she went over to his daughter to have her her hat and a huge hug. It was so sweet.
Alanis Morrisette too. Taylor sings Alanis Morrisette really well!! I don't know a ton about notes or technical singing but I feel like maybe these two have really similar notes that they really hit well.
Shout out to Jamie, who made this request happen! You guys, she's out here making sure we are FED. Mary J. Blige is a forever Queen and it's great younger generations were exposed to her at a Taylor concert. I really love this song and performance.
taylor still does this too. she doesn’t bring special guests too often on eras but for her openers she chooses smaller/newer artists to open for her to build their audience/platform. she has always been this humble. it’s one of the many incredible qualities of taylor!
Someone once said that when Taylor is a guest on another artist's performance, she makes it all about them and never tries to steal the show. Likewise, when she brings guest performers to her shows, she makes it ALL about them. In her 1999 World Tour, she talks about all the effort and care she puts into making sure her guests have to everything they want and need to have a great time. It is just so awesome to see that level of humility for someone who has been as big as she is for as long as she has. It's why other artists like Beyonce and Nicki Minaj have such beautiful and supportive relationships with her.
One thing I love about Taylor is that she loves great music, no matter the genre. She gives her props where they deserve to go. No one deserves it more than Mary.🥰❤️
Mary J was my favorite artist for years. Her voice is just unmatched. Period. To see my two favorites up on stage together hits my soul in a totally different way. Full body chills
It was around 1989 era that Taylor started to talk to labels of how important it is for artists to own their music... She has always lokked for smaller artists and tried to help them as much as she can... She's fabiolous as a human being tbh
Taylor recognizes the brilliance of other artists and then, as you can see in her body language, she expects her guest to take over the stage as if it was their own concert. Taylor seems to understand musical legacy and iconography and celebrates those who came before her. Also, she just really likes good music!
This is one of my absolute favorite videos. I’ve watched it so many times. It’s the one I go back to when people accuse Taylor of not featuring female voices on her songs because she’s insecure…. You don’t bring *Mary J Blige* out and sing one of *her* songs *with* her to a *live* audience if you feel insecure about singing with other women.
Great Insight into Taylor being selfless to share the stage. In the 1989 Tour video, Taylor has more commentary about how special she knows MJB is and how the fans have such reverence for her.
On the 1989 tour Taylor brought on that stage many artist and non artists She brought there a lot of known artists like Mick Jagger, Selena Gomez, Wiz Khalifa, but also less known artists she liked and gave them the platform to show themselves and gain an audience. And she also brought up on stage people like Kobe Bryant, Matt LeBlanc or the US women's soccer team who just won the world championship that year. Taylor always was and always will be one of the biggest hype girls in the showbusiness, she's always supporting people, even at the cost of her own loss.
Watch Taylor’s music video Lover. The lead male actor, OWENN, in the video used to be a back up dancer and he became a lead dancer, then a lead in her music video and now he has a music career and she brought him to open her shows in Los Angeles 🙌🏻
Taylor has had a lot of artist on her tours, my favorite is when she had Wiz Khalifa, at the end he gave Taylor the longest sweetest hug, she talked about that hug in an interview, basically saying the same thing I just did. Taylor has also had Nikki Minaj as a guest.
Taylor's a beautiful soul man. If you notice, she's always the first up on her feet cheering and jamming out at award shows, no matter if it's her competition. She's all for it.
Taylor just loves music. She is super supportive of other artists. When you see her at awards show, she is typically dancing and singing along with the performers on stage. Check out Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs from this year's Grammy Awards. There are only 3 or 4 people standing during that performance. Taylor is one of them. I don't know if she knows Tracy personally, but I know she knows every word to that song, just like she knows every word to Mary J Blige's songs.
A lot of young girls/women have and will continue to get thru their hard times and heart breaks with the help of Taylor's music. And Mary Js music has done the exact same things for me and millions of other women. Watching them share a stage, is very special. The Swifties need to start with "Whats the 411" and fall in love with Mary too...cuz they would, they absolutely would. Mary is my #1 since day 1!
@@IvyCowboy I jammed to Mary J well before prom. LOL I didn't know much about Taylor until she starting dating Kelce...I'm a big NFL fan and it's hard not to be a Kelce fan. So I decided to take a little dive into Swift world after hearing a lot of negative shit about her....and I caught me a little crush on her too. LOL She's amazing, I'm a fan!!
You're right about Mary J Blige being extremely underrated! I had never heard this song before, despite how much I need to hear this every single day of my life. Pardon me while I pause your reaction to put this song on my playlist ASAP....
Love to see it, i forgot this existed! Yes, this was fire. She had a lot of guests on the 1989 tour and this one was one of my favorites. Another great one live 1989 tour is Wiz Khalifa-See you again
When you get a bit more familiar with the different eras, you'll be able to tell the timeframe from her hairstyle; and the onstage costumes. This was the 1989 tour, in 2015. She cut her hair short for the first time during this era of shifting genre to pop. The arena (stadium?) is the Staples one, in LA. She had multiple guests there, I think it was 3 nights? Jennifer Lopez, and Selena Gomez were also guests in LA; she had a guest at every city. A channel called Taylor Swift Tour Extras tries to get video of all the guests. Since her sold out shows there set some kind of attendance record, they had a sign put up for her at the stadium. The local sports people started playing badly (dunno if it was hockey or basketball, lol) , and they took it down claiming it was cursed. Should be a video of Kobe Bryant presenting it to her somewhere.
One thing I always focus one especially for this song Taylor doesn’t try to out preform Mary or anything she’s barely even singing in this song she is letting Mary shine in the song and when Taylor does sing she doesn’t try to out do it or anything she is bringing it back some and I feel like most performers wouldn’t be like that most of the time they would be like I’m singing most of the song since it’s my concert or whatever I always notice that about her performances with special guest on their own song
Is this the tour where she brought out Alanis Morrisette? Alanis makes me spontaneously erupt into weeping from the inspiration she gives. Mary blew me away at last year’s Super Bowl along with the giants of hip hop. ❤
Taylor is very kind and humble and she always supports smaller or underrated artists or artists that just began their careers. A lot of popular artists opened up for her at her tours: Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, HAIM, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, Gayle, Girl In Red, Justin Bieber, Florida Georgia Line, The Vamps, Vance Joy... She also brings special guests and let them shine. During 1989 Tour she invited on stage half of music industry.
What makes this incredible is the impact in sales flor Mary J Blige from music lovers who've never heard her music. This is the epitome of adding revenue to musicians she invites on stage. I love thaf so much for MJB
Taylor is the super start artist in this moment but at her true heart she is a song writer and as such she so appreciates other artist who write great songs. mary is incredible.
I love the she did this with Mary J. Blige. She does this often with other artist that inspire her, but this was such a special moment. I love that it did not end with one song. They were having some fun up there.👏👏👏
This is an amazing song by an amazing singer. Thank you Taylor for thdd, it is so inspirational and gave ne goosebumps while listening to Mary sing it!
I just have to say how much I love Mary j Blige..Ii dont know about the U.S. but i'm an Aussie and I was blasting her music back in the day. She's a legend. Nicely done Taylor 👏💜
Oh I've always loved Mary J Blige. I used to turn her up in my car with the windows rolled fully up (because I sound like a cat being strangled when I sing lol). Taylor I think actually does have a lot in common with her. Not her voice. FOR SURE not suggesting she can hit the same notes and runs. But she does write and sing about her experiences. And people make fun of it for often being experiences about relationships. Screw those people. People's experiences are theirs. And I probably have more in actual common with Taylor's experiences than Mary J Blige's but I love both because you can FEEEEELLLL both. You can feel that they feel their songs. You can feel that they have LIVED their songs.
I had a focusrite once, wanna know how i fixed mine? I took it outside, put it in front of the back wheel of my 6L V8 and dropped the clutch. Spat it out the back like cornflakes! Then went and bought an Audient ID44!!! Problem solved.
