Just what ive been looking to do, your videos are absolutely informative and just to the point, thank you. Where can i get the quilling tool from and what is it called. Can i just use the heat foil like i would to laser print then laminate? Thanks
Hey Tahra! You can purchase the Foil Quill from Amazon or locally in most major craft stores (I know JoAnn Fabric carries them). I don't believe you can use the same DecoFoil like you would with a laser printer, I have heard that there is something different about this type of foil for it to work with the Foil Quill. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thanks! You're video was very clear on how to do this. I was curious on what Foil Quill was. Now I definitely will try it. Where can I get the bundle of sayings you used?
Can I use this bundle to create my card in design space and use cricut foil tool? I do have the silhouette studio business edition. Thank you for your tutorial.
Hey Beth! Yes! Absolutely! You will follow a mix of this tutorial and our tutorial on the Cricut Foil Tool. I'll link it here in case you haven't seen it yet. I recently emailed Silhouette asking about the Foil Quill since there was no USB port, but hadn't heard back from them at all, which was/is disappointing. So I greatly appreciate your posting this video. I'm also glad I purchased the charger when I bought the Quill. Can you use the metal plate with the magnets with the Silhouette 4? I could have sworn it was shown being used when I purchased the Foil Quill and the metal plate/mat. I'm so close to have my crafting area reorganized and cleaned up where I can actually get the Silhouette 4 (still using the 2nd generation Silhouette) out of the box, after about a year, and start using it. Another question is if you can't use the quill in the 2nd slot and leave the blade in the first slot. If not, what is the purpose of having 2 slots? The Silhouette I use now only has 1 slot and I thought I needed 2 slots for the Quill. Thank you in advance for any answers you can give me.
Hey Cindy, I'll be honest, I tried this when working on the video. It didn't work for me but I didn't have a chance yet to research why. I know that Carriage 2 is intended for the new Rotary blade, Kraft blade etc. but don't know if that has any bearing on it, I haven't used Carriage 2 yet. BUT I have a video coming up on all the blades for the Cameo 4, so I will try to address this in that video. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Thank you! Looking forward to the upcoming video on all the blades for the Cameo 4...some of them are so hard to find (never available) in the Silhouette store.

Hey Monica! I haven't used the foil quill for portraits yet, but it makes me think you would need the fine tip for detail work. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I did Kier, but you do have to make sure you are using a design that is set up for sketch pens (single line designs like this one work great). Regular designs will only draw where the machine would normally cut. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi Ms Becky, thanks for the video! Might I ask, is the paper thickness matters? I've been struggling to transfer the design into the paper, it almost as if the tip of the foilquill only gracing the paper. The result is thin and uneven. I even tried the max force level and no improvement there. I'm using 135gsm card stock, adaptor D, medium tip quill, action "sketch", and "pen" as tools (I cant seem to see the "pen holder" tools, maybe we're using different version of the silhouette studio? Mine is 4.4 basic 🤔) I'm scratching my head in frustration. The issue is not on the foil, it transfers perfectly when I do it manually. It really looks like the quill tip simply does not reach the paper enough... any advise on how to mitigate this?
@fanny yes as a matter of fact I did kinda solve it by changing the mat (from standard silhouette mat) into Cricut’s thicker ones. Layering the media also helps, anything that raised the paper thickness really…
