You should steam the beets not boil, also use brown sugar instead of white sugar for a deeper flavour. Great video
I love cooking fresh garden grown beetroot don't add vinegar (if your a gardener like me do not throw the cooking water away i will explain at the end.) slice and dry it off in an old tea towel and freeze it in freezer bags and it soon defrost when you need it and still taste fresh at Christmas then depending how much i need i place it in a dish add vinegar with black pepper and a touch of salt and a couple of tea spoons of suger and leave over night in the fridge believe me its yummy (beetroot water ) save it in an air tight container's i use empty 1Lt plastic pop bottles keep them in a cool place ok when you water your flowers indoor or outdoor feed them the beetroot water you will be amazed of the colour of your flowers especially red or pink roses they thrive on it good luck
Love love the whole process and especially the pot your cooking with
Really well presented video, but is that an aluminium pan you are using to heat the vinegar and sugar mix? If not, apologies in advance. Thought I'd mention it because we recently found out that aluminium is strongly associated with Alzheimers disease. Cooking acidic foods and liquids particularly, will cause aluminium to leach out more quickly and scraping the pan with a fork will put tiny metal fragments into whatever you're cooking. Some people are extremely allergic to metals, they can be just as harmful as plastic, one day I hope they'll bring out some hypoallergenic pots and utensils.
"These will cook in about 10 minutes" So cook them for 35 minutes 😕
I love beetroot and have since I was 10 years old when I use to steal them out of next doors garden and eat them raw. I've baked them but have never preserved them so I'll let you knew in 3 months how I went.
By the way I liked the way you presented this, easy to follow and to the point.
They turned out bloody fantastic, kids still wont eat them. Thinking about growing them this year. I have read that they grow year round in oz but I'm going to wait until it starts to warm up.
The chef’s voice is drowned by the loud music-reducing the presentation to frustration
Hi. Yes sorry for the confusion but you do indeed need to cook the beetroot for 35 minutes. Let us know how you get on making them up!
Great simple recipe, thankyou.
yeep .. scratching the pan with a fork .. to stir sugar .. sent shivers through me ..
Thankyou for this .. I’m gluten and barely intolerant so white vinegar and sugar will work …. Hopefully
Thank you I found this very helpful
Shouldnt stir with metal fork when youre using metal pot. You gave me the goosebumps.
I didn't cook mine, just sliced and put in the jar, it was fine and crispy.
If you're a fan of beeetroot you should check out our beetroot and feta pancakes with garlic butter. They're delicious!
