Once you've filled your jar with beet and pickling liquid, do you not have to pop the sealed jar back into boiling water to can it properly?

I mislaid the recipe this gentleman gave, and found him again after being able to buy the beetroots that was raw. Out of the 4 i checked, this gentlemans is the very best and he made it so simple, i was able to rewrite the recipe out and delighted to know i can keep it for 12 months! I shall definitely be checking out this gentlemans recipes and hope he does a sourkraut one?? I am a salqad lover and i love red pickled cabbage, red beetroot and saurkraut on it. Yup will definitely follow this gentleman, not only is he an expert, he makes it looks so simple like i stated before. Definitely a thumbs up from me!

I'm going to make Ukrainian Borscht with my beets! :) I make a lot of fresh soups now and freeze them for enjoying in the cold winter months. Thanks for the vid in case I have enough for that too! Very useful

I’ve been cooking mine in the microwave- is there any reason why I shouldn’t do that?

Love it when instructions are kept simple! Grown my first beetroot and it's beautiful... memories of childhood salads with stuff from a jar had put me off. The fresh, homegrown beets are a world away. Thank you so much xxx

Hi you can roast the beetroot in the oven skin on and then pickle them for extra flavour

fabulous. Do I have to add sugar to picle the beetroot as I am diabetic and can't have the sugar. Many thanks, Ivan :-)

thank you. I guess I could always add a little sweetener to it if I don't like it unsweetened, although I am quite used to eating foods without sugar@@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk

Pickled beetrot does not take 3-4 weeks. Cut it hot and put hot liquid over...24 hours later result and does not tatse better over time.

Thank you Ivan for this clear and detailed pickling recipe. I'm wondering whether it would be prudent to water bath for 5 minutes to make sure beetroots don't go bad. Thinking the jars may be stored for at least 6 months. What do you think?

We used some after a year and they were fine
After sealing the jar place back in boiling water for a few minutes and they will store longer Thank you Rebecca

Baking beetroot works better than boiling as less is lost to the boiling water. Wrap in foil with a little water and bake for an hour. This also works in a lidded pot.
