I love where you’re going with sowing carrots in containers and I’m going to go in that same direction in my greenhouse. But here’s a thought for you. There’s a gardening channel I follow where he does something similar to you, only outside in the ground. There is also another difference that I think you may want to consider. He doesn’t use plastic seed starting trays for spacing, which you remove after poking your holes. He uses 18-cell paper egg crates to do the spacing, and because it’s paper, he fills the crates with compost, plants his seeds in them, and then places the planted crates into his in-ground garden. The crates are paper so they dissolve over time right into the soil and he’s left with perfectly spaced carrots AND no weeds because the paper crates prevent any other growth. Genius. Another difference which you may or may not want to think about is he pre-germinates carrot seeds and then plants the germinated seeds only. No thinning or snipping required.
I’m getting ready to plant a fall-harvest crop of carrots (it’s mid July now) and I’m going to use a combination of his and your methods in my greenhouse. Here’s a link to his episode that describes what he does. I hope you at least find it interesting. Enjoy, and thank you.

Thank you for this wonderful video. I've been a gardener all my life until I experienced severe health issues a couple year ago. I'm struggling now with mobility issues and many things I took for granted are no longer possible. I thought I would never garden again but now my lovely brother William is making me raised table height planters and bought me some boxes like you just used and we are going to follow your methods. We are both excited and very grateful to you for sharing your ideas. God bless you. Love Vera in Northern Ireland ❤

you could use colored egg cartons for the holes then the same carton and put the seeds in each thing then gently tap the carton to shake the seeds until they just slide into each hole in the soil.

I use the cardboard tubes from toilet/kitchen roll. Cut them into circular strips about 2cm, lay them onto the soil and drop 2/3 seeds into each.

I find a much easier way to sow my Carrot seeds is to buy pelleted Carrott seeds you can then sow at the correct spacing and no need to thin them out 👍🏻

Get yourself a stepped drill bit, I find it the easiest way to make holes in pots, means just one drill bit for multiple sized holes

You could pop dowels into another wood pad like you have to level the soil. Then it would be easier once made. Save the pen 🖊, but I like how tidy that is.
