    Your thinning procedure is a really good idea. I've been gardening for a long time and I figure you can never stop learning. What I have done is plant carrots with radishes. When it's time to pull radishes it leaves room for the carrots to grow and vice versa.
    Your channel is great. I get a lot of value than from a lot of others. I live in the High Desert of California and the weather can be quite challenging to garden here, heat, cold, winds. Thanks so much for sharing the wealth of information.

    Planted carrots in the fall last year and over wintered them. The biggest issue was keeping moist until germination and thinning for a larger carrot. If only I can figure out a use for the tops other than compost pile, perhaps a garnish substitute for parsley 😳🤪 did mine in a 3’x6’ raised bed, but like the container idea. Have already planted mine in raised bed this year but I’m going to try some more in containers after watching this 👍

      The Ripe Tomato Farms you should, but you haven't in your past videos. I had posted a comment about it on each video, so i'm glad you finally picked up on it, no offense though!!

    I like this idea. I’ve got the space on the side of the house for this. I’ll have to wait until next year though.

    Growing in containers is pretty much the only way I will do carrots, any more. My only difference is I plant them using a plastic grid and plant individual seed in each spot.

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  3 года назад +2

      Perfect man, you and me both!! Do you have to transplant after a certain stage? Do you grow the bigger varieties to make it more worthwhile for the extra time?

    • @dahutful
      @dahutful 3 года назад

      @@TheRipeTomatoFarms I’ve found they dont grow big in pots… no matter the type.
      Imperators, for example just stop adding length once the tip feeder roots hit solid bottom.
      So I stick with Nantes, Chantenay, and the more “stumpy” varieties.
      I have tried them as sprouts started on damp tissue, then transplanting.
      It works, but it’s fiddly.
      So I just use the grid and plant one or two per space.
      I learned it from a guy in the UK - “Home Grown Veg,” aka, Jim.
      Tell him I sent you….

    i did that, made a raised bed for carrots, three weeks and i don't think they are coming up. i think morning glories is what's coming up. got potting soil, some natural dirt and composted top soil. aaarrrrggghhhh. you grew some beauties.

      Carrots can take a notoriously long time to sprout... They look like little grass plants when they first come up.

    Hi. I am a new subscriber. I think you are one of those who explain details and beginner friendly!! This is my very first time trying to start vegetable garden. I watched your zucchini video. And they are now germinating in seedling tray. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
    For carrots seeds, can we do the same as zucchini?? Plant seeds in seedling tray with lid? You mentioned carrots like warm. But temperature where I live is still questionable... still in 40 f - 50 f outdoor. (Zone 6a in US) I am trying to grow my vegetables in containers also.
    Thank you in advance.
