Thank you for this very helpful presentation - AND all your help for all the enquiries from other Peugeot owners. Replacing the injector seems OK except for the two barriers to completion:- 1) No access to a injector remapping system 2) No access to a torque wrench that goes down to 7nM Bugger!

Thanks for this. Watched your video a couple of times and it gave me the confidence I needed to swap out the injector. Unbelievably, I didn't lose a 10mm socket in the process! Car running better now and the ESP/ASR message has stopped coming up. Just need to get it coded next week :)
Mine was keep popping esp light every now and then , done this in the last 2 years but after restarting engine it was fine, thought it's a bad wheel sensor. , Lately was idling rough while cold for the first 2 minutes, last week it completely died on me , barely got home , 2 mile trip luckily.was yours showing the same symptoms?
@@slvs91 Nope, mine went into limp mode 100 meters from home. Stayed in limp mode flashing up ESP/ASR messages. Ran like a dog because it was only running on 3 cylinders. Swapped out the injector and it ran on all 4 cylinders again. Had it coded into learning mode and after a couple of days it ran sweetly again.
@@slvs91 One thing to look out for. Most programmers seem to only like the codes (printed on the top of the injectors) in a certain format. They are ok with the Bosch codes, but don't like the continental codes. They all have alpha-numeric codes, but some programmers only like the letters A-F. The injector which I bought was a continental and had the letters J and K in the code. I couldn't program it myself with an older Snap-On programmer, so I had to pay someone to come and do it for me :( £40 for 5 minutes. I was gutted.

Hi thanks for the comment , only some need coding , it depends on the exact type.. if they do need coding it can easily be done with a decent quality diagnostic machine 👍👌
Thanks for the video. Does the ECU also need to be updated with new software if the injector is newer than the ECU? Or does the ECU know all new codes? Great video going to attempt this myself next week, a question on the torque wrench the amazon one is 28nm upwards how can it be used when the injector bolt is 7nm?
@@diydaly maybe I miss understood is the torque rating you have in the comments, not 7nm? "Injector bolt torque setting= New bolt recommended. Stage 1 - 7NM stage 2 - 80 degrees "

Hiya Mate, Great Video. Very well explained. Managed to replace cylinder number 4 as was getting a permanent P0271 error code- short circuit between two wires. Configured correctly with new numbers. Still not working though. Engine starts but doesn't go above 1000rpm, which was the original symptom. Any tips or advice on what else it could be. Cheers.
Hello great video. I have a Peugeot 5008 2015 model 1.6 hdi (before the redsign).I believe the engine is pretty much identicle to the c3.I was coming home when i got an esp/asr system fault and also an engine repair message. The car went into limp mode and is running rough. I have a Launch diagnostic obd which i plugged in and the error read : P0268 cyl 3 inj circuit high. I have also tested the injector plug and after much fiddling (the access is way worse than the c3) my multimeter went straight to around the 180 ohm mark which i believe to be good. Also after checking through the fuses they also seem good. However after turning on the engine for less than 20 seconds the fan comes on and stays on for a while. So my question for you guys and anyone else that can possibly help is ---- The fan coming on early and staying on for a while, is this connected? Also is my main issue definitely a duff injector? Your video gave me the confidence to replace the injector if needed but the access is awful. Many thanks in advance to you guys and anyone who can help.
Hi thanks for the comment, yes im sure you will have a faulty injector.. the cooling fan can come on when other faults are present .. this can be quite common on a lot of PSA group vehicles
Good video. I have a focus mk3 that uses that same engine. It is defective in cylinder 3. I tested the injector resistance and it is 0 ohm. should he be the problem himself? If I replace the injector and do not reprogram what happens? won't the injector work? And can this lauch CR319 scanner reprogram the injector? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment , yes mate sounds like the injector 👍. Only certain ones need coding , you could fit it and see how it runs , chances are if it does need coding it will still run on 4 cylinders but may be abit lumpy .. I’m not sure if the launch machine will do it tbh .. worst case you could just pop to a garage that has a snap on or decent scanner and they should beable to do it for you if you get all the codes etc ready for them
not usually as its the electronic but that fails , the milage can be quite varied, ive known one car that had 3 go down between 20 / 30,000 miles! but then others that have lasted nearly 100,000!
Hi I have a Citroen C4 grand Picasso 2011 1.6 same engine as video, I purchased the car a few months back but it has a misfire on number 1 now the issue I have is I'm not sure if it's had a new injector at any point so not sure if it has the original one installed, how do I find out it is the original and is this a problem if it's not, when replace with a new injector, thanks
There’s not really anyway of knowing if it original or not other that any obvious signs looking at it etc (ie if it’s loads cleaner that the others or a different brand) you’ll need to code read it see what codes are logged
Thanks. I have bought four new injectors. But there are no long numbers 9804f76....... on it. What i can see is only the six numbers A8GHJG. The old one is B6GKLH Do I have to recode???
Hey @DIYDaly, thanks for the video it is helpful. Is it common when coding the injector you put in 6digit code, when you try to read it back, it becomes longer? As in 6digits-6digits where the last 6digits is my original input.
Hi Martin thanks for the comments!😁. I didn’t come across that issue when using the snap on machine .. which diag machine are you using? Quite often you can get away without coding them so hoping this is the case with yours 👌👍
@@diydaly I was using OBDdiag. The injectors did have the part number which the diag software asks for but it required coding anyways. The car ran poorly until the injectors were coded. When I read the code after coding it looked very much like the code you show at ruclips.net/video/ajtk1CusmAc/видео.html (despite 6 digit input) that is why I asked the original question. It made me scratch my head a little, oddly enough it happened only for 2 injectors out of 4.
Arr yea I see what you mean now , yes It does sometimes do that depending on the code.. I’m not sure why to be honest.. I’ve had it happen on a few occasions . I presume you’ve got yours all running ok now?👍
Just wondering I am interested in buying an EOBD scanner that can also code injectors like the one you have, but would prefer if it was a laptop software, do you have any that you recommend? And thanks for the great video, it was appreciated!
Hi mate , it’s abit of a minefield out there for diagnostic machines / software isn’t it! I’m lucky enough to have access to a snap on and a Bosch machine all the time so haven’t had massive experience with any others.. we used to have an autocom (which used Delphi software) run through a laptop and that was a mega bit of kit for the money tbf , it was really easy to use and had a lot of functions , we always used to use it for coding dci injectors as even the snap on machine wouldn’t do them at the time! I was doing a job with a lad using a Topdon machine a few weeks back , he’d been using it for over a year and said he was well impressed with it and tbf I had a good go with it and it looked really good , we was using it to do a dpf regen but he has coded psa injectors with it .. it’s a handheld though.. I’ll attach a link . To be honest I much prefer the handhelds , they seem a lot more reliable and last longer .. youre lucky if a laptop lasts 2 years nowadays 😖 ebay.us/AcMtGj

Replacing the injector seems OK except for the two barriers to completion:-
1) No access to a injector remapping system
2) No access to a torque wrench that goes down to 7nM
Bugger!

Nice one! Glad to hear you got it all sorted , at least 90% of the job anyway! 👍👍👌
Mine was the same once it was totally dead , when i was accelerating it was vibrating quite bad and was cutting the diesel .

Thanks for the video. Does the ECU also need to be updated with new software if the injector is newer than the ECU? Or does the ECU know all new codes?
I replaced the injectors, coded them correctly (cylinder 1 near the gearbox) but the engine idles very rough when it's cold. After 5 to 10 minutes it works very well.
You should only need to code the injector , has it had a decent run after? Sometimes the fine adjustment takes a while

I’m not sure if the launch machine will do it tbh .. worst case you could just pop to a garage that has a snap on or decent scanner and they should beable to do it for you if you get all the codes etc ready for them
Hi, thanks for the video.
Just wanted to know if this type of injector can be repaired? And whats the average mileage that they go bad?

@@diydaly Checked today and the pipes are expanding on boost both at the intercooler, but on the throttle body I can hear some hissing, would it be an air leak could be coming from there do you think, stripping down tomorrow for full inspection and clean. Checked the turbo wastegate and actuator all working and good,.
@@gazsto9510 yes mate if you can hear a hissing there a good chance an ar leak is causing the issue, could be the manifold seals or a cracked manifold maybe , hopefully you find out tomorrow 🤞
@@diydaly OK mate, thanks a lot and appreciate your help and guidance.
My green clips are not pooing up. Do I pull on one side of tab. I've tried each way. I pulled one the side u pulled its tight any ideas?
Yeah there a little tricky you need to sort of work it a little then it will come rather that just pulling it directly up if that makes sense.. it’s abit hard to explain in text but normally abit of a jiggle while gently prying usually works
But I pull up only the one side like u did. Not both sides. U make it seem easy. I will try wiggle and pull tab on side next engine bay. I'm using mirror. If injectors are black at tips would I steep in kerosene and clean. Or try second hand one first timer here thanks 4 your videos just subscribed. I sell cars but don't do much mechanics except oil changes and bits n pieces. Thanks again
I’d try removing and refitting with a new seal first , u may need to clean the bore if there’s any carbon build up , I’ll attach a link to a cleaning kit.. they can be really fiddly them clips it’s just a case of not trying too hard as they can be quite brittle 😬 amzn.to/2MCNgkX
What is the tension torque for the bolt that tightens the injector?
Injector bolt torque setting=
New bolt recommended.
Stage 1 - 7NM
stage 2 - 80 degrees
cracking video! i have a 5008 (2013) 1.6hdi blue....no fault codes using my scan tools (i have 2 nothing, flash), no rough idle, and really good on mpg, yet my neighbor who works for peugeot says at least one inj is on its way out!!!! and i will need to replace all 4, (4 ....that a grands worth...i suppose i can get by on one kidney)! which he will do for me for a cost(of course)! is he trying it on????? he has run a peugeot diagnostic tool and it has come up with some codes including a 90+% blocked dpf. he says his machine is more in depth and accurate! i must admit when its cold it starts brilliantly but is rough for the first 50 yds afterwards sweet as a nut! only thing my scan tool says is that the egr isnt working? liked and subbed, again great video
Hi thanks for the comment! That’s hard to say without seeing it! There’s no reason why you can’t just replace the faulty injector though and I can’t believe the dpf is 90% blocked , it wouldn’t run if that was the case mate
Hi been told if you change all 4 you will need a main dealer software download , is this true
replied to your other comment
hello
its possible to stop working the engine from on bad engine its happened to me
Thanks for the comment , I struggling to understand the translation tho? Thanks
in your opinion is it the electromagnet or the tip of the injectors that fail in most cases .................
On these later style injectors they allways seem to fail electronically , I’m not sure exactly what goes down but it’s normally in the head in the injector
What is the procedure for injector value reset learning?
Its needs to be done via a diagnostic machine
@@diydaly but what’s the correct procedure? Diagnostics machine resets the values of learned data, then what?
Drive up to 2500rpm and let it go down to 1500rpm
@@vikalebebe4619 Well the codes need inputting first then if you want to do the value reset, it will be fully guided on a diagnostic machine.. if it requires you to do anything it will say.. otherwise you dont need to do anything 👍
DIYDaly is it true you need a main dealer software download if you fit all 4
Not that im aware of tbh mate, ive replaced loads without any trouble.. inc a few occasions where ive replaced all 4 together 👍
@@diydaly Thank you for the reply, got 1 that has packed up and wanted all 4 done, but guy said if all 4 were done would have to go to main dealer for software update? so only getting 1 fitted after seeing your great video wish i had done it myself, and then got them coded, elsewhere if i could find someone able to do it, thank you

Is injector number one on left or right?
no1 = gearbox side
Hi, great vedio. Where are u based?
Thanks mate! Replied to you email 👍
do these 1.6 hdi not have the rubber seal on the injecter port
not on this later engine, the earlier models do have the rubber oil seal 👌👍

How much should one expect for this job parts and Labour?
You'd could easily expect to pay around the £400 area, the injectors usually range from £275-£350 area & labour 1 - 1.5 hours
@@diydaly Thank you. That's me this week. Mine juddering, sometimes hesitates then jumps. I hope it's not one of the problems, tranny fluid some suggest.
😬 hopefully not, im afraid they are mega common tho!
Turns out it's just the clutch gone. Getting my new clutch kit put in today.
@@richardmauto 👍👌 at least you found the problem. Hope it’s not too expensive! 😬
Hi are the 3008 peugeot 1.6hi done the same way and is coding straight forward
yeah pretty much the same depending on the age.. codings strait forward but you'll need a decent diagnostic machine
Thanks great thanks , was looking into the scan tool thinkscan Pro s7.your thoughts

Hi I have a problem with this code p0269 I hope you will help, Peugeot 5008 diesel
as far as im aware that relates to Injector no.3 at fault mate
thanks but ,what to find injector no3 and what code is🥇
you really need some to check it mate, best way to determine which cylinder it is I by disconnecting them 1 at a time and reading the fault codes, as the cylinders should read 1-4 starting from the gearbox side
孔內積碳沒清潔?
Hiya.
Great video, I'm about to do an injector change on a ford focus MK3 1.6 tdci which seems the same engine and type of injectors, little confused with the fault code relating to which number injector and cylinder. Fault code P1263 which says cylinder 3 so are the cylinders on fords numbered from right to left ( gearbox to crank pulley) can't seem to find correct answers.
Is number 1 cylinder got number 1 injector?
Cheers
On a Ford it should run 1-4 starting from the timing belt end .. the Citroens start at the gearbox end
Where can I can find you?
I’m on the east coast nr grimsby
Is there anyway to get in touch with you please
You can email contactdiydaly@gmail.com .. thanks

@@diydaly I've only wrote, that the holder of the Injector's should be tightened with 7NM+ 80° degrees my friend 😉👍 fantastic Video
@@ozzi3146 nice one thanks for the info , I’ll add it into the description 👍
Hello I changed a fuel injector on my Citroen C4 HDi and it fixed the problem (P0265 diagnostic and limp home mode) but when I asked a garage about coding they said "We can do this for an estimated £180 inc vat. Included would be a 1-2 hour test drive to do a pilot learn". This seems a lot and I don't understand the need for the pilot learn. I would rather spend money on a diagnostic tool but have no idea which one. It seems a huge minefield with plenty of scope to waste money. I just hate being ripped off.
Yeah it doesn’t need all that , it’s a really simple procedure , only certain injectors actually need coding.. it might not need doing if it runs ok
Hey bud new injector fitted to number 1 injector , peugeot 3008 2011 1.6hdi the scan tool used was the thinkscan 7 which has the injector coding program on it for peugeot, I'm being told when u code the injector u need put the code in follow by the numbers , on mine injector 1 and 2 only has the letters in off the injector , 3 and 4 have both the letters and numbers ,so I guessing 3 and 4 have not been done , anyway fitted the new copper washer that came on the new injector , it's had new stretch bolt tourque to 7nm and quarter of a turn , also filled new return pipe across all 4 injectors , my prob is when car is idling its fine runs sweet , soon as its in gear and under load u put ya foot down it rattles bad , like u in the wrong gear and putting ya foot down sounds like pinking ratting under load , have I done summit wrong anything I can check ??? Kind regards
Sounds like it’s not coded correctly , presume you have coded it all in the correct order, no.1 is gearbox end? Ta
@DIYDaly yes after putting in the 6 mixed code it said it was configured
So now I've tried it again this time I've had to turn ignition on off few times said take for a drive and drive upto 2600rpm then release throttle done that for 10 mins scan tool not said no more so I'm guessing that's it done ratting seem to of gone will see how it starts tomoz , any info ???? What was the rev upto 2600 rom etc for
@@andymurphy24 Hopefully that will sort it , it just basically adapts the injectors quicker. I did a Volvo the other ay with same engine and I didnt need to code the injectors but there's an option to run a rapid adaption.. basically I had to drive the car roughly keeping it between 2500-3000 rpm for around 20 mins, it had a progress bar to show the % complete , once done the engine was loads quieter .. to start with it had a lot of diesel knock
Rite with u bud , I left tool connected when did this but no other info came up on screen I just exit it when I came back , will try for a run in the morn from cold see how I go on, only one code stored said summit about low fuel pressure on start crank , could be due to me fitting that return pipe as I replaced the whole thing
