Sick FS&S Thunderbolt 1000A Soundoff (ft. 2001-130) | Attack & Alert | Dallas, TX (8/4/21)

- For the first test of the first Wednesday, I had a goal in mind to get a Thunderbolt. I had planned out Dallas fire stations 47 and 36 beforehand. 47 had no controls, 36 was in a very sketchy area, so that left me with Dallas Fire Station 45. By far the best siren experience that I have EVER had, huge thanks to fire station 45 for being very nice and letting me do this. The first blast was at 11:45 AM, which was filmed but that will be for a later video. I then waited until Dallas activated the 2001-130s, and then I activated the Thunderbolt for Attack & Alert. There's so much more to explain but in the end this was an amazing experience, despite it not being very loud. Enjoy!
The city of Dallas tests their 168 sirens (not including the Thunderbolts) on the first Wednesday of the month at noon.
Note: Please do not attempt to do this unless you have a good knowledge of how a Thunderbolt works, for everyone's safety.

Despite it being sick, this thing still sound very good! Overpowers the 2001 too.
It sounds a lot scarier because of how sick it is.

Nice video it's been active this sense many years to 2009 before it's over till beginning the 130's active in 2010. I may do the 1000 at Fire Station 11 next time.
If you get there on the right shift you can meet the same captain that I met
@@WestTexasSirens Ya maybe but my mom said it's a very longer drive to get there because of traffic and road constructions.
@@WestTexasSirens Hey i may get my dad to take me to the Dallas Fire Station 11 next time to see if the fire department will let it to set it off the 1000. I'm sure also to set it off the 1000T over different Dallas Fire Stations as well.

Dallas’s thunderbolts went out of service in 2009, this is the first time it’s ran in over a decade

Surprised it wasn’t louder than it was. It has a 5M I believe.
It also has an awful air leak, which is why it was so quiet. We plan on possibly fixing it though.

@@TheSleepyMechanic0524 Dallas’ bolts are long dead and won’t ever be active again, this one will be sounded off as per request and manually by the FD if they choose.
@@osm_railfan yeah I know. A shame really. It would cost a lot to repair them. Makes no financial sense

another bolt with dying brushes sadly i think its on the verge of being replaced and rightfully so cause this one is on its way out
It was already replaced, this was the first time it had run in 11 or 12 years.
Old died siren
I thought Dallas came in to every Fire Station and removed the old sirens surprised this and others if they are still standing are around did the city not have enough funds to remove them and instead abandoned them in place
They have the funds, but given how half of them are set into foot-wide concrete poles, they chose to keep them up.
Oof she needs new brushes and a paint job and she'll be good as new!!

Sounds more like a bearing issue judging by its windup. A full restoration wouldn’t be a bad idea.
It needs a new paint job and it’s collector rings and brushes cleaned

He probably just needs to be cleaned and oiled!
In order to function properly, the thunderbolt needs to have its chopper motor brushes swapped and maybe the slip rings cleaned. It seems like it's oiled fine

The 2001 is probably not happy that its grandpa (the thunderbolt) is still sounding off despite being sick after all these years lol.
