    Hi guys! These are not exactly the same tools I use, we couldn’t find our brands but these are just the same.
    Recipe for a small batch of Hard Candy:
    2 cups of white sugar
    3/4 cup of Water
    2/3 cup of light corn syrup
    Food coloring ~ optional
    1 Dram of LorAnn super strength oil
    On medium heat, combine ingredients continuously stirring until it comes to a low or slow boil then stop stirring. Make sure to use your brush with warm water to brush away the sugar crystals from the inside of your pot, continue this periodically as needed.
    Once your mixture reaches “Hard Crack” stage, remove from the heat and add your food coloring and your dream of flavoring. Quickly but carefully (will burn your skin if it gets on you 😩) transfer your mixture to a sheet pan or molds of your choice. *My molds had 24 bears per mold, this batch gave me 96 bears, amount will vary based on your molds.*

    Today I made a batch of hard candy smaller than this recipe...1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup corn syrup and 1/4 cup water...I only added 1/2 teaspoon of the Lorann pepermint oil, I was afraid to add the full teaspoon since it says it is so much stronger...but now I wish I had used the full teaspoon...the flavor is great, but not as strong as I would have liked (and yes, I did wait til the boiling action had stopped before adding the oil)...so I would like to say that in my case it was not as strong as it says. The flavor is fantastic, next time I will make it stronger.

    Hard candies is a way better alternative than hard smoking. I have long been addicted to cigarettes. And soon I’ll be taking up skateboarding. And thus, to avoid huffing and puffing in between tricks, hard as it may be, I might have to quit smoking altogether. I was told smoking impedes athletic performance. I’m hoping your candies can help me.

      Thank you very much! So it’s a choice for me between smoking and skating. At first I considered vaping but my friends tell me that vaping is just as bad and eating candies is an even better cessation alternative. Plus, it gives a dose of extra carbohydrates for an energy boost. ( in skateboarding for me) I’m pretty sure you tried it too! Am I right? Anyhow, congratulations on your awesome patience and determination to quit smoking! Job well done ! Thanks for sharing the candies.

      I get about 60 bears (bear mold) or 45 and a few suckers from a small batch. I wish I had a better answer but I just had to practice to be fast 😂. I have heard people say you can reheat it but I wouldn’t advise it as it could and probably would compromise the flavor. Practice makes almost perfect 🤭 Are you making a small or large batch?

    • @tm2bee
      @tm2bee Год назад

      I've seen someone divide their batch, pour the first half from a silicone bowl and place the second half still in the pot onto a heated pancake griddle to slow the cooling process. I have not personally tried this so I can't attest to the success but this seemed like it was his standard practice. I imagine you'd still need to work quickly. I do plan on keeping my eyes peeled for a cheap griddle at the flea markets. I suppose any other small warming appliance would work. Just keep safety in mind if you have young helpers.

    • @howtocooktocope7558
      @howtocooktocope7558  2 года назад +2

      Hi Helen! I experience this situation in high humidity, If I make hard candy/boiled sweets/lollies in summer I crank my air conditioning up because humidity is sugars nemesis. In the U.S. some lightly dust their candy in corn starch. Another reason for sticky candy is if it isn’t cooked long enough. I’m not sure where you are located however, if it’s humid I can just about bet that is your culprit. I have read that you can cook your candy for an additional 2 degrees higher to make up for the humidity outside. I have not tried this myself so I cannot vouch for it personally but wish you luck if you give it another whirl. 💕
