Flying the Phenom 300 into South Lake Tahoe tomorrow. Will have to give you a flight sometime Haley!! Flew it into Minden last year. When you come up from Van Nuys Minden came up on us fast.
Love your channel. Great flights with the Diamonds. Both the DA 62 and the 50RG are beautiful planes. Did you prefer one over the other with respects to flying? The 62 has very few faults from what Ive read…cost of maintaining two engines but what can you do, you have two engines! People criticize the 50s range and speed but in your video the plane appeared to perform really well. Just wonder your thoughts after spending time in both. Thanks again for the footage.

I used to instruct at DFC from 2017-2022. Pretty impressive the amount of frames that factory puts out. We used to do a lot of training for new owners on the 62 at the school. Diamond makes a really nice airplane, but overpriced IMO. Always nice to see my home airport YXU

So far my fave is the twin, but I'd take the RG50 in a pinch 🙂 Question about your Wing-mounted camera - was that running on batteries? Dunno how far that last leg was, but the camera stayed filming for the entire flight. Nice!
Such a cool aircraft. Question though. If they are telling you the altimeter is 3000 and you are reporting 6000. Does that mean you are 3000 off the ground and 6000 from sea level?
Not quite, what they are telling you is the local pressure setting, in this case 30.00 inches of mercury. This will adjust your displayed height to match the local weather conditions. This setting is referred to as QNH. Other countries use millibars / hectopascals ie: QNH 1013 (standard atmosphere).
What's the fuel burn on the DA50, compared to the DA40? 4 gallons per hour? What's the ground speed on the DA50? Nice flying. No snacks? haha. You were so starved. I was sure you'd have an emergency 'break glass' snacks in your backpack?
