To answer you ESAM, the only time we could be sure is a SPLIT second before everyone else when the Keyblade was shown outlined in fire, right before the keychain haha
@Tyler Davis That could also just be it happening to happen, you could assume at that point but it's not nearly as definitive as the early moments of some other trailers.
I didn't think that at all honestly. When it called back to the original trailer and the fire of Smash Bros was the only thing keeping all the characters alive, my immediate thought was "This needs to be a character who lights the fire of passion of the Smash community or someone who embodies the passion of gamers everywhere that can reignite the fire". I was honestly expecting Captain N The Game Master to be the final character in order to fit the motif of what was being shown.

Right before Mario reached his hand in the fire was similar to the way Sora summons the keybalde some times. This game is truly complete now IMO. They definitely did a awesome job representing so many franchises throughout gaming history.
From the emphasis on contrasting light and darkness, I was 50% sure that meant Kingdom Hearts. I saw the sparkle effect after Mario stepped off his platform and thought, "That looks straight ripped out of Kingdom Hearts" and was 90% sure. Then I saw Mario standing in front of that final ember, all other characters bathed in dark. As he reached out for it, I was like 10% thinking "Is it someone out of Dark Souls?"
Think of the fiery Smash emblem as the fighters' "lifelight". It may be mostly burnt out, but there was one last ember of light left, which Mario used to call upon Sora. Sora IS that final spark of lifelight. Also: _"Colors weave into a spire of flame; Distant sparks call to a past still unnamed; Bear this torch against the cold of the night; Search your soul and reawaken the undying light/Light will guide you on your way to the ultimate fight"_

y'know, with this being sakurai's final project coming to an end, it almost feels right that the final character was a sword character. and the best one yet.
I’ve played KH since I was in elementary school, and I’ve graduated college. So nostalgic for me, and I’m so excited to play this character. Regardless of how good or bad he is.
38:21 i think for me, i had a feeling it was Sora from the moment Mario threw the flame, it reminded me of the ability Strike Raid, which was when the player throws the keyblade like a boomerang, and i believe in later games you could combine it with different magic spells (I.e Fire, blizzard, thunder)
Never was happening, crash is owned by Sony and Activision who have hated Nintendo ever since Nintendo "backstabbed" them. Nintendo and Disney are on relatively good terms and the reason sora wasn't happening earlier was because the former president of Disney was a copyright hound.
That counter is more useful than people give credit for. It completely stops the enemy leaving them wide open for a guaranteed attack which means characters like Lucina who snap to the ledge while also attacking through the stage will get 2 frame countered AND get hit even if you're countering from the ledge.
I didn't even notice he skipped his dash attack. Hopefully he's thinking about changing it to add the switch like he did to jab, nair, fair and side tilt.
You do realize that recoveries that would normally be able to armor through a counter if you didn't pull the counter off at the apex, will get stopped dead in their tracks thanks to this stagger mechanic right? Marcina and Mr. GnW just to name a couple.
I was 9 years old when the original Smash Brothers game came out on the N64; the only time I ever got to play it was whenever me and the family went to a local McDonalds Play Place, and there they had these cubicles installed including games like Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and Super Smash Brothers. Although Super Smash Bros. Melee came out in 2001, I never had a Game Cube growing up--I would eventually get one as an adult though--so I never even knew of Melee's existence until around 2004-2005 when I first got into competitive Yugioh. By that point in time, I was most definitely in high school. Brawl came out just as I was wrapping up my senior year in high school, though again, I never got around to playing it until a couple years later--at least by then, I already had a paying job and was attending college, so I wound up upgrading my GameCube and got a Nintendo Wii, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl along with it. The Wii was used, but it came with Wii Sports, several pre-purchased Virtual Console titles like Super Mario Bros. 3, A Link to the Past, and Sin & Punishment; it also just so happened to have had enough credits left over that I was able to get Sonic 4 Episode 1 free of charge. Regardless, I trained vigorously in Brawl, competing with my brother and one or two of his friends constantly every weekend, so I could attend a Super Smash Brothers tournament. With Toon Link by my side (my original main was Sonic, but I found myself to be significantly more sufficient with Toon Link), I managed to get 2nd place--went right down to the wire, so close to winning it all and everything. A couple years later--after I returned home from a faraway trip for some job training, I got a much better paying job at full time hours, got a Wii U (already got a 3DS a year prior for Pokemon and Dream Drop Distance), and was left so thoroughly speechless by Cloud's reveal trailer that I decided that I had to get Cloud as a DLC fighter for both my 3DS and Wii U versions (all of this also occurred the same time I went on a warpath to complete my Pokedex in Pokemon Omega Ruby as well). And now we have Sora finally here in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate as our final fighter. Within reason, just about every single video game icon from my childhood is represented here. Sonic, Kazuya, Cloud, Sephiroth, the Pokemon franchise as a whole, and now Sora. The only notable omissions that immediately spring to mind and are within reason are Crash and Spyro. Maybe Master Chief, but if anything, it was my brother who was more into Halo than I ever was. If Crash was in the game, and Spyro was a Mii Costume or Assist Trophy, this roster would have been truly complete in my opinion. But, I'll take what I can get either way. I wouldn't be surprise that the campaign for Crash and Spyro probably weren't super amped up during the Smash Ballot days due to the fact that both franchises were essentially dead by that point, with the latter in particular condemned to Skylander purgatory. The Crash N. Sane trilogy literally sparked so much interest and demand for Crash and Spyro that I'm pretty sure these remakes of the classic games were what propelled them all the way to the stratosphere in terms of Smash requests. Otherwise, nobody really gave a crap about them in 2015, and by the time news of the N. Sane and Reignited Trilogies were announced, it was already too late.

Sora counter staggering actually does change stuff. I believe you've seen videos of people landing counters on certain moves and it doesn't actually hit the opponent. Of course the downside is that it doesn't work from behind him like the other counters.
Sora's cool, sure, but can we please have Hallow Bastion replace Smashville? Better visuals, better music, and changes on the last stock. I'm sick of having intense, crazy tournament sets on calm, chill Animal Crossing stages.

*As soon as Mario stepped off the podium and it turned into "Glitter" I knew it was Sora* . I've been playing KH for years and basically know the micro-animations. If you look at the key-blade glitter & Sora's glitter it matches Mario's podium glitter animation.

"He looks cute"
FBI: *EEEEEHHHHHHHH!?*
why do i feel at 23:55 my man got to excited then caught himself lol
That tweet they did just makes all of this even more hilarious. You probably won't know who this is. That's funny.
The thumbnail looks like a new soyjack
They couldn't have ended stronger, honestly, only like Master Chief and Crash maybe are big enough to have an impact like that. I'm speechless, I don't know what pact woth a demon Sakurai has, or what dirt he has on every high end employee at these companies to make this happen. Disney doesn't even play nice with Square and they made Kingdom Hearts. I'm more than shocked.
Pikachu with a sword! Sora going to be a beast!
I guess you can say that Sora is "Simple and Clean"🥁🥁
Kingdom Hearts and Smash Bros are my childhood. It’s “simple and clean”.🥲🥲👊🏾👊🏾
The flame dropping is the last light in the scene which is said as a line in kh1
how is kirby going to look with his ability
"Why can't they do that for Hero" Because Sora has 3 spells and Hero has 21
A dream come true!
I feel like the counter could have been a shield special that is really underutilized
The games over easy kh1 playthrough coming in clutch.
surprised how fun he looks considering how watered down his moveset is. despite wasted potential im still super excited for this
I feel like it's fitting that this is the first Smash I play, and this is how it ends. But that's just from my POV
Nickelodeon vs Disney
Think about it
To be honest I am just really enjoying seeing (Male) Corrin finally being in one of these trailers (I'm not sure if the model used is just an edited version of the existing model used or a brand new model, though I am leaning on the former), but congratulations to everyone who wanted Sora!
this video is what we needed
The thumbnail😂 lmaoo he looks like a kingdom hearts fan
When Mario pulled the Fire Sword out I thought it was going to be Alphen from Tales of Arise
I would have also loved Alphen. Haven't finished Arise yet but it's fantastic so far. As a huge KH fan though this was bo kers...
@@MikesFoodForThought Same here. Im glad it was Sora but I would have popped off for Alphen too
Sora kind of IS the Disney character just excluding the non video game characters.
Lots of people are gonna be mad that it's another anime sword fighter
Lets face it. We all wanted anime sword fighter.
Sakurai literally said that Sora won the poll.
@@Aflay1 I'm not sure since the sora stream has more dislikes than kariya trailer and pyraythra one
@@doflamingo7009 Doesn't really count since Sora is being revealed as the last DLC fighter. No matter who got revealed, a lot of people just had their dream character lost, so they were gonna be salty and dislike it.
It's a key, not a sword
@@Kaz999998
It’s a key, AND a sword. A key-blade.
What i put in the smash character ballot:
Which character: "Sans"
Which game are they from: "UNDERTALE"
Why should they be a character: The memes
Mario handled a keyblade and opened a keyhole to let Sora in...
