@@keelanbarron928What would being officially made have to do with anything? So if Sega did the same thing, would it be a remake then? If that’s the case then P-06 is a remake since that isn’t really a meaningful distinction. From what I know, they didn’t actually do any mods on Sonic 2006 directly
I'm only 7 minutes into the video at the time of writing this comment but I just had to pause and say that your doodly editing style is so unique and makes my brain very happy
@@Ajakes STAY THAT WAY I BEG. It’s such a strange and unique style compared to all the talent artists on this platform. Someone with an utterly mediocre skill-set who’s just passionate about things he likes is *just* the right kind of person RUclips needs.
Also let me say, I really enjoy your editing style and pacing of your videos. The jokes last just the right amount of time, and the little animations really sell those bits well. Genuinely you deserve way more views and subscribers my dude. Keep up the fantastic work, I'm so glad I discovered your content!
The Shadow slamming into walls bit was so good, I loveee little stuff like that in videos - it just screams "I had fun making this video" and you can just tell As for the analysis, it was as fun as always! Personally it was pretty easy to follow along with everything. You bring a really refreshing level of objectivity and subjectivity that makes watching super engaging to listen too. Even when you don't like a certain element or section it's not a slog to hear your opinions as to why and you respect how others may feel differently. Plus the humor is just good. Honestly it reminds me of why I enjoy Bickuribox12's videos so much! This was another lovely watch! (while I was drawing Sonic go figure lol)
I did scour the video with a hanna barbara sound pack, looking for every stupid impact lol. Glad you got to catch this one, I appreciate all the comments on my last videos. And bickuribox is amazing so thanks for the HIGH PRAISE. Btw if you got a place for your Sonic drawings, i'd love to know 👀
@@Ajakes Yeah man I'm locked in cause I know regardless of the level or Sonic game the video is probably gonna be alot of fun! Also I do! It's on my personal Twitter account (unfortunately) I'd be willing to send a dm there since I don't wanna promote my twitter under your video XD
2 things: 1: i want you to know that i love this channel! I really adore these level deep-dives and i can already tell ill be rewatching this along with all your other stuff a LOT over the upcoming years lol and 2: dude you are going to LOVE project 06
Loved the little excerpt at the beginning there detailing your work flow and thought process for these videos. Honoring levels by playing and discussing them in which they were originally meant to be played, and on the hardware they shipped on, is certainly something that I appreciate, and wanted to shout it out! Excellent video man! And I was there in the trenches alongside you with 06 as that bright-eyed 8-9 year old. You have my sympathies, soldier.
A, fellow child of 06, I am so sorry (maybe you loved it i got no clue lol). But THANK YOU! I'm gonna try and do my best to stick with it. It might be tough for the classic era, but anything 6th gen on, I think I can handle / source.
Chaos Island vs Chaos Island would be hella interesting to see you compare. Given the whole fact it's comparing an Open Zone Hub World to two full levels.
would be a fun challenge, I don't even know where to START in that regard (do I include the cyberspace levels / the small puzzles over the island / etc.)
@@Ajakesfrontiers has little “level” sections in the open world like that one section where the sniper shoots you in a 2d area but is behind you Kirby triple deluxe style or the underground death egg section I think comparing like 5 of those sections could work but it still would be a challenge
@@Ajakes I’d say include it in the Music comparison but if it where me I’d start with the landmarks of the Island found in the game and where they are in shadow gens Maybe highlight how each landmark here was supposed to be a discovery in frontiers where you stop and run around them a lot more and Maybe how they are converted into set pieces you blast through
Something that needs to get pointed out is that the Shadow in Sonic 06 is not the same character as Shadow in Shadow Generations. Due to timeline shenanigans, the events of Sonic 06 never happened for mainline Shadow, so he has absolutely no memory of anything that happened in the 06 game. This even gets pointed out in game, with Shadow talking with Gerald about encountering places and enemies he doesn't recognize, and Mephiles getting all confused about how Shadow doesn't remember him.
You hit the nail in the head that a lot of 06's problems came down to mechanics, not so much the levels themselves. More than anything, the level design reflects the game's goal of being a culmination of what worked in the prior Adventure games; the broader design of SA1, and the more specific design of SA2, coming together to form some of the most ambitious levels they could deliver. And I can tell Kingdom Valley was THE level, the one with the most content, the one that blows anything else out the water. Which is a shame when it's...not very fun. Because actually controlling the characters and going through waves of repetitive, sluggish combat, on top of the game's technical issues, fails to deliver what should've been the coolest moment of the game. And it's STILL cool to an extent, I can see the vision! But until Project 06 and now Shadow Generations, I always thought of Kingdom Valley as that one cool looking level that overstayed its welcome, another slog of a level to get through in a game full of levels that go on for too long. It is actually funny comparing Shadow's run of Kingdom Valley in 06 to Shadow Generations. He REALLY didn't do much in 06, huh? It's mostly two vehicle sections, and a Rouge section. And this is his second level! I'm not surprised that Shadow Generations took more from Sonic's run of the level than Shadow, because it's barely about him.
It's a shame that the Adventure gameplay never got a chance to really shine. They were always held back by lack of polish, annoying padding, underwhelming mechanics, poor physics, and other deliberate design choices. P06 shows that with a few tweaks, it could have been a better gameplay style than the boost games that we've been getting up to now if they committed more to it.
I think you summarized my thoughts perfectly lol, cause that was my take after coming off the comparison. Charmingly ambitious but ultimately faulty and in need of repair. I feel like the 06 remixes get the most hype, not only because a lot of people just remember the bad, but it's interesting to see them take these more open maps and translate them into a boost level. Crisis City got pretty boosted, but Shadow Gens attempted to stick to a lot of 06's original intentions, that's why it's one of the most impressive remixes across BOTH of those games. Also yeah, Shadow got a bit shafted with his "toys" and character swaps lol, I can't believe his first real "on foot" section is all the way at the end, after ALL those loading screens.
It's not really mechanics. A lot of these mechanics work fantastic in other games, other Sonic games too. It's just how well it's implemented. And well, that's where it falls
I’ve tried that fan remake and I don’t see how it doesn’t make it a slog it doesn’t change the level design it just makes it function which isn’t enough to not make it a slog. Stretching the first section out and removing needless filler like Silver’s section would go a long way but that goes against the cargo cult mentality the remake has. Shadow Gen’s version is pretty dang good tho and continues what Frontiers started in the shift away from tbe constrained feeling of the boost formula games, the game feels like a completely different animal at points very removed from the corridors and invisible walls that dominate the old boost games.
ONCE AGAIN. thank you so much for these level comparisons. They're absolutely crucial to simply understanding the formula for sonic I feel. Please keep rocking on!!
I have literally only gotten into a huge sonic 06 and project 06 stint this week, and literally started binging some of ur content like yesterday, then boom, this video comes out right after. I swear coincidental video releases like this happen so much more often than it feels like they should
@Ajakes ye np mate. Love the contet style. all I ask is when you do finally give p06 a shot, do some research on yt and stuff to understand the intricacies of what has changed, what's new, and and the details of some of the stuff. Not in like a "oh p06 is a remake not a mod, get ur fakts straight" way, but in a "hoping you can really appreciate every little detail they've poured into this game" mostly when it comes to gameplay and improvements. Watching p06 vids that explained some of the intricacies of the mechanics and changes along side learning the game gave me a huge appreciation for the project as a whole.
@@KrispyKorpse Def agree, that's a big reason as to why I wanna keep it as a separate video, I feel like there's a LOT I could dig into. Will do my research! Anything you can point to / think I should look at for help?
@@Ajakes Ye for sure. Just as a start, it's still a W.I.P., the bosses and final stage aren't finished, and there are 5 demos that have been released so far, the main 2 to note being the shadow and silver releases which are demos 4 and 5. The first 3 were just progressive releases of sonic stages (i think, i'm still kinda new to the whole p-06 thing myself lol), the shadow release added all of shadows levels, and the silver release is the current live build in terms of being up to date that added silver's campaign. Most vids usually focus on one of those last 2 depending on when it was released. The download itself is of google drive which can be found under in the description of the official youtube announcement for the silver campaign's release on ChoasX's channel (ChaosX is the lead of the whole project). ruclips.net/video/SCD5aQLlCD4/видео.html To understand the basic and information, I would recommend 2 videos by the project 06 channel Stelmo98. - Every Sonic Project 06 Character Ability Explained: ruclips.net/video/5yRI46XhDLE/видео.html -- This is a really good video that just shows you what every character does. Great video to start out with or have early in your watch list for this just to know what things do. - 100 Facts About Sonic Project 06 You May Not Know (but should): ruclips.net/video/_pQ1oemmP8Q/видео.html -- This video is good for a lot if small random facts (pretty obviously since it's a large random fact collection vid). Whether you want to start earlier or later with it is up to you. It's primarily informational about the game so if you wanna hear more opinions or praises first or after learning the information I'll let you vibe with that. Bickuribox12 is definitely a great source for this and has a lot of videos going over the changes between the two and understanding the perspective of appreciating the game being incredible when just given the polish it needed. (idk which of his P 06 vids you've seen so far): - Sonic P-06 is Rewriting History: ruclips.net/video/cJMl3sa8yjU/видео.html -- His first video on the project General overview of the game and changes from 06, and released during the shadow release. - The Joys of Sonic at Mach Speed (P-06 vs. Original): ruclips.net/video/5L8wo9FR4-U/видео.html -- Focuses on Mach Speed (obv) - How Sonic P-06 Transformed Shadow: ruclips.net/video/bdjTSiRDm2U/видео.html -- Shadow focused video - Sonic P-06 Has Redeemed Silver: ruclips.net/video/h7hoMSsmBao/видео.html -- Only video over the silver release, covers the silver campaign and some changes the update brought elsewhere - How Sonic 06 Handles Multiple Characters: ruclips.net/video/wVZ-wRlMuRg/видео.html -- Not a P0-6 video, but it came up during my P0-6 watching binge. Might not be necessary, but helped show the idea behind how it worked, which helped see how it works well in 06 when the game itself actually works. J's reviews also made a great video over the game as well covering the silver release and all it's content. Similar vein as Brickuribox12's stuff I think, just a single, longer vid. This was the first one I watched after starting to play the project and binged a bunch of P-06 content. - Sonic P-06 Is The Best Sonic Game Ever Made: ruclips.net/video/CxKVOh7_jjI/видео.html I also found a decently long vid by Pariah695, I haven't watched it yet but I'm gonna soon lol. - Project 06 - Sonic Was Always Good: ruclips.net/video/TeBjWzA4KPI/видео.html If you want to actually talk to people about it specifically, I'm certain there are discord servers or subreddits for the project, modding, speedrunning it, etc. That's most of the stuff I've binged on it, the only other thing I watched around it was alpharad's playthrough of it which is just a playthrough vid, not really researchy, and Stelmo98's tier list of all character's abilities, which is interesting to see the thoughts on each of them from the perspective of a speedrunner (not ranked exclusively on their speedrunning use tho), tho it's more of a watch later for entertainment if anything Imo. The primary thing I would say tho is play the game for yourself. It honestly might be a great idea to just go in semi blind before you watch anything above just to see the gameplay for yourself first hand before you get any outside impressions. As someone who hasn't played sonic 06, the controls were a bit weird to get used to cause I most recently played frontiers, which made it a bit frustrating, and it has it's own little bit of unity engine jank since it's still a WIP, but for you who has, it should be night and day. I would hightly recommend just playing it, ASAP if you want, but later if you want to wait till you plan on focusing on a p-06 video so you don't get sidetracked from whatever ur current next vid focus is since ik you got a series to make.
I love how Shadow Gens' version of the stage still seems to be splitted into sections, not only that but the same sections as the original game, in the same order, you start in Wind, above the clouds, with the large valley/hallway/"canyon" that has multiple paths on it, then you go to Riverside as you enter the first Doom Surf section, a small closed valley with castle towers on it, exit on Castle, you go through tons of giant castle towers and castle walls, the towers are huge, and sure make their presence notable there, although they don't fall in Shadow Gens like they do in the original, and the Mach Speed is the last one, ending the stage, taking place beetween 2 giant waves on both sides It's also interesting how clever they got by kiiiinda removing the "gimmicky" part of the first 2 sections that don't fit Shadow Gens, instead of the Glider in Wind (that they could somehow replace with the Doom Wing I feel, and you can even make an argument about how using the Doom Wing would be the same as crossing that section with the Hovercraft, intentional reference or not lol), he instead runs through the section like Sonic does, and it does still make sense for Shadow, after all, in End of the World, the last stage of 06 prior to Solaris, you play as every character (excluding Blaze and Sonic since they're both ded), in a single section of a random stage from the game, Rouge goes through a portion of Wave Ocean's first Sonic section/second Shadow section, Amy goes through a portion of the second section of White Acropolis, Silver goes through a portion of the outside section of Dusty Desert, etc. And Shadow, goes exactly through the 1st section of Kingdom Valley, Wind, but actually running, through Sonic's section And in the second section in Shadow Gens, they removed what Silver and Rouge could do, instead just focusing on the last section of Shadow, where he uses the Hovercraft to cross the lake, and transformed that into the Doom Surfing section Comment is long, but I want to say what I'll say, so I'll make it brief: I'm excited and curious to see your comments, feedback and opinions on P-06 once you give it a try, seeing your comments about 06, talking about things that were upgraded, tweaked or just changed in P-06 made me quite excited for you to see the difference of Night and Day that game made to 06
I'm just as excited to try P-06, and "eat my words" in a sense lol. 2 things I totally missed: Using Doom Wings at the start is replicating the glider flight, that's so obvious in hindsight (I even show CLIPS of it) I'm surprised I missed that. But also the fact that Shadow DOES go through Sonic's section on End of the World. Admittedly I didn't rewatch/play through End of the World before making this, but that's a great observation. Thanks for that. And for the great comment too, appreciate it!
@@Ajakes When I first saw the Doom Wing, and they revealed that you could play with it on the levels, I immediatly thought about it being a replacement for both the Hovercraft in Sonic 06 and the Black Hawks from Shadow 05, since both have the same purpose, make Shadow fly across sections It's a reason why I wish a level from Shadow 05 (specifically Sky Troops since you have the section where you get into a thunderstorm and have to fly to an island to another) in Shadow Gens, I'm okay with the fact that it didn't happend, at least it still serves to reference the hovercraft on 06 And... a recommendation maybe I'd make, is for you to watch the video about 100 facts about Project 06 at some point, maybe after you beat all the stages or make 100% if you decide to do so, I think there are some facts that are absolutely cool, and the game has many secrets that should be known, ChaosX, the creator of P-06 even makes a cameo on the video and made a fact check on it
I love these videos, it seems so hard to find people to just talk for so long nowadays, so im glad i found a channel that can make hour long videos to satisfy my li'l sonic addiction :)
This is literally the definitive video of kingdom valley, js like the other stages you talked about like rooftop run, skyscraper scamper, etc. And I’ll for sure rewatch this video over time. I love how dedicated you are from the thesis you give and the fact you’re willing to talk about every part in the stage. I remember when people were arguing that sonic forces level design is worse than 06 and now if this conversation is ever brought up I’ll js use this video. Amazing content man. I’m for sure subscribing!
Just finished the video and you pointed out stuff I hadn’t even noticed despite beating 06 5 times in my life. Your comparisons between Gens and 06 also helped me appreciate the stage even more than I already did. Absolutely going to check out more of your content.
First off, I have some things to say that I love about your videos: 1. I love the way you constantly remind us how much you care about the different voices of the fandom and are excited to engage in discussion to find more ways to love the Sonic franchise. It really makes it feel like there's a point to commenting on your video other than "haha funny yt comment one-liner now give me 2k likes". 2. I love your energy. I can tell through your voice that you're smiling while recording this and explaining to us why Sonic is so cool. Really gives that inner child inside every Sonic fan's head a voice that is free of toxicity and peer pressure hating, and makes me want to share my version of that voice in the same way. 3. I like how you explain very clearly what you're about to get into before you get into it, as it gives me a chance to "consent" to the tangent I'm about to listen to. Not referring to just the point where you explicitly stated we could skip a part, but how every section of the video is set up so I know what you're gonna talk about and how much you're planning on talking about it. I think these "game plan" sections are far from redundant and definitely something I'd like to see more of in future videos. It makes all your points a lot more digestible in an intellectual sort of way, and when I do watch these parts of the video I feel like I'm there because I WANTED to listen to your analysis and not because I was clickbaited or catfished into listening to some ramblings. Too much of that on youtube and you're doing a great job making these videos feel like a healthy conversation even though I'm not involved lol. Now some things about Kingdom Valley: 1. One little thing that was important to me about the stage that I think you glossed over or skipped was that flying enemy stack before the castle ramp set-piece in of 06, where you climb up a bunch of floating enemies onto a spring that has you go up and down the castle roof. In Shadow Generations the castle roof and the enemy climb are separated into 2 separate parts. There's a particular climb in Shadow Gens where you chaos snap 4 zig-zag patterned flying enemies near a pillar and to me it's really reminiscent of that moment. It's kinda like rooftop run where they separated the order of the setpieces. 2. Something that you clearly got but didn't explicitly mention that I'd like to point out is how the level is VERY CLEARLY designed to be skippable with clever boost management using the doom wings, MIRRORING Shadow's original glide through the level with his glider. Especially with the first part of the level having a very easy route to give you 50 rings so you can just start tearing through the skies ASAP just like in 06. 3. It's cool to see how they used the Doom powers as a very obvious replacement for the "Shadow uses vehicles" trope they were going for back then. You have wings corresponding to the glider and the surf corresponding to the hovercraft. Heck, you could even argue how at this point the boost is imitating that feeling of tearing through enemies like an unstoppable tank like they intended with the buggy (which definitely feels strong with how they group enemies together in similar formations as 06 except this time you just tear through them). Also how doom blast replaces the sluggish combat from that game with awesome movement options, while still having the same cool "shadow beats the heck out of things" concept. 4. I was so upset and disappointed with how they handled the water section. Part of what made the 06 water section so spectacular and magical was the fact that it's a straight shot with wiiiiiiiiide terrain and wiiiiiiiiiide obstacles to navigate through. Shadow's feels so narrow and boxed in, and it's even worse that the waterfalls are just a background element. It ruins the whole point for me. Yes, Shadow's movement and speed feel revolves around that quick step-by-step interaction with the environment making long stretches feel slow by comparison (unlike Sonic's which are spectacular for that purpose), BUT if the first parts of the level demonstrate anything, it's that you can make the level feel open, huge, and spectacular without making it feel slow. Come on, let me doom surf on the sides of the waterfalls!! Let me sidestep on the waterfalls dodging bombs or hitting debris (like boxes) as I go from waterfall to waterfall platforming on terrain in the middle on the way, which I can also skip if I'm crafty with doom wings! Make the waterfall push you UP and FORWARD while you're surfing on it so you can use Chaos Control to stop the upwards movement and go forward to access other routes if I want to!! (They do something akin to that in rail canyon where chaos control stops the upward wind currents allowing you to go straight through them) There's so much action they could've put into this setpiece that making it a VERY barebones platforming section makes my brain agonize at the lost potential! And it all could've been done with this fast decision-making step-by-step action that Shadow's gameplay thrives under. 5. On the topic of those long stretches of straight lines in Shadow Gens: they're not boring because they're long. I think they're boring because Shadow's speed simply doesn't rival how Sonic's speed feels in his version of Gens. The camera is zoomed out further, the camera doesn't warp as you go faster when you boost, the controls are not so tanky so you really feel the consequences of such high momentum... Shadow's controls prioritize precise control and finer movements, and that's what favors his step-by-step obstacle course-like design. But these long stretches don't have the spectacle that Sonic's boost gives you, so he feels slow through them rather than a zooming speedster tearing through the wind. I think that this issue isn't inherent with Shadow's gameplay style. I think that these sections simply need more stuff in them to make it feel like you're going fast and actually getting somewhere. More changes in how you navigate the environment. A good example of this in my opinion is the Radical Highway section of Sunset Heights, where there's a long cylindrical hallway that's fun to dodge because of how much you have to do to keep your rings and your boost going. The action makes every second of speed you get count and when they re-do this setpiece in actual Radical Highway it feels even more obvious. It's literally just a straight line that doesn't have much in the way of horizontal or vertical changes in direction, and yet they feel like a blast even without Sonic's cinematic gimmicks. With this in mind I think it's fair to criticize the game for not going all-out on these straight line segments from previous sonic games. I'm talking about that hallway in the Ark, the trains chasing you at the end of Rail Canyon, AND THE WATER SECTION FROM KINGDOM VALLEY!! Anyways since you've read this far I hope you liked reading my take on this game's design and my commentary on your videos. You're one of the few RUclipsrs who I feel truly comfortable starting a conversation with in the comments so thanks for giving an outlet to us Sonic-obsessed people who can't shut up about how cool it feels to play a sonic game and love this franchise. PLEASE keep doing what you're doing if you love it because I and thousands of your viewers love it too. I'm just a little concerned at how open you are to discussion in the comments since it may be more manageable now you're still small, but if you blow up and get too many comments I hope this standard you've set for yourself doesn't stress you out too much lol. That's all from me thanks for reading :)
Wowee, sorry, had to take my time with this one. I wanted to give it some thought. First off, thank you for pointing out the things you are digging about these videos, ESPECIALLY number 3. That intro was my favorite part to make of this entire video, but at the same time I understand that I advertised this thing as a "Level Analysis" (through title and thumbnail) and some newcomers aren't here to watch 13 minutes of Adam's sketch comedy lol. I made it with the audience from the last 2 videos in mind, I didn't consider new viewers might be showing up so maybe I need to rethink that. But you mentioning how they are far from redundant made my day. I still wanna include those "explanations disguised as bits" parts in future videos. Maybe a simple "Skip To" timecode for newcomers will do haha. Second, I wanna get into your points about Kingdom Valley. (1) Are you speaking on the zig-zag of robots that you have to home after the "Slope Sprint" in Gens? I can see what you mean there, I never considered how that's kind of a reverse order to the way you approach it in 06. Or maybe you're talking about the one in Eagle Valley? Cause I know they have a zig-zag of robots there that sends you to the left. (2) I didn't pick up on the 50 obvious rings for the immediate Doom Wings, you're so right lol (3) I recognized the Surf = Hovercraft, learned about the Wings = Glider through the comments, but I never picked up on the Boost = Buggy, and I think you're totally right. All of his fun toys were replicated into natural powers that you DON'T need to jump in a car for. (4) Gotta talk about this water section. As I said, visually stunning but way too easy, leaning more on simple forward motion instead of the snappy combat chains Shadow has been dishing out throughout the games. In another comment I suggested how they could've shook things up by having the straight road ahead of you suddenly crumble into the sea, with only the supports remaining. Kind of signaling "you ain't doing this as Sonic, you're doing it as Shadow, so get to homing." Same with Doom Surfing on the waterfalls, would've been a great way to switch up the idea. "Oh god, I'm about to hit that rushing water, oh wait, I can surf ON water, AND now I'm doing it sideways." Chaos Control to stop rushing water though, they need to get you on the design team lol, that's brilliant. I think it's the only part of the level that felt oddly lacking, especially with those long straight lines that (5) you are very right about. I also wonder if Shadow's static hover animation throws us off too. In Unleashed, you feel Sonic's speed through the rippling sound of his footsteps, and watching his legs become a blur. But in Shadow, they kinda rely on the boost electricity and those screen effects with the fast lines. I know I keep banging this drum, but Shadow feels fastest when he's homing and attacking things. If you need to go straight, then you gotta diversify like (as you said) they do for the Radical Highway segment in Sunset Heights. That cylinder with obstacles is a great example, just compare it to a similar cylinder in the Space Colony Ark level (I show footage of that when I speak on it) which is very dull and forward. In most other areas in this game, they get this right, which is why the Waterfall section was a bit shocking to me on how easy it was. Thanks for writing all that, and I don't think it needs to be said, but seriously this is one of the kindest comments I've ever read on my videos, it makes me excited to make more of them. I think my anxieties about catering to everyone are kinda glaring in these videos, so I appreciate all the comments telling me to just relax lol. No one in my friend group ACTIVELY plays Sonic games (although they all have experience) so it can get a bit hard finding a place to discuss the fun concepts of these games. I feel like that's the same for a lot of older Sonic fans. My intention in keeping these things subjective is not just to start a discussion for others, but also selfishly give ME an outlet to discuss these things. So I love hearing people's own personal perspectives. We're all just excited about these games, and we got a lot to say. I am wary about all my replys, I do understand that if miraculously things continue to grow, I won't have time to respond to everyone. A good problem to have, I'm sure, but I want everyone to at least know I'm reading everything through the use of hearting comments (kinda like my own version of "read receipts"). For now, I give myself a couple days after release to just read and respond, before I get back into making videos, which now that I got invigorated by your comment, I think I'm gonna go do lol. This is the comment that made my day, thanks again :)
I really love these sorts of video game analysis videos! Especially enjoy these generations comparison videos; it's likely been done before but these are the first videos I've seen doing it. It makes me want to do a slideshow presentation on how sunset heights act 1 in shadow generations manages to both be a good level and feel like it could've came straight out of forces. Also, fun fact that has likely already been stated: at 35:04 you can see a doom fella on a platform in the bottom left corner. You can go down there and doom blast it through the window for a little shortcut. Or, you could aim around the tower and skip the enemy room entirely. OR, you could aim on top of the tower, and then spear glide (spam chaos spear in the air to conserve your momentum) and land in the water section, skipping the eagle that carries you over there. Though you would skip the trigger for the flying doom fella that gets you the shortcut. Anyway, great video! Thanks for making it :)
I knew about the doom blast but I never considered aiming AROUND the tower lol, that's a play right there. Honestly I should swing the Doom Blast around more, I bet there's some great vantage points you can get to (as you described). Also, go make that presentation! I know barely anything about Forces so it would be a treat for me
Amazing! I love these videos and I loved Shadow Gens' Kingdom Valley, I'm very excited to see what you got for these, especially because of the lenght, this will be awesome (Also mandatory request for the next Unleashed level to be Jungle Joyride) Edit: damn, I guess I'll wait for the Jungle Joyride one XD, good stuff makes you wait, so I'm in no rush, I love these videos, I'll watch you cover anything you put here!
Trust me, I'm a Jungle Joyrider all the way through, which is why I wanna give that level a bit of a lead up. IT WILL GET ITS DUE. It has to. It's so goddamn good. But thanks for watching! (and for being patient lol)
0:15 Genuinely exciting knowing that there's more on the way. I actually followed your LEGO channel first before stumbling onto this one and was sad that there wasn't as much to binge in terms of recent content. Happy you've found a format that motivates and interests you to upload more frequently because I can't get enough of your style of videos, your Sonic retrospective is easily one of the best things I've watched on this site 😩
Woah Lego transplant! Thanks for following me over here, I might be making more stuff on this channel now (given the responses) so I'm glad you got to hop along. AND for liking my Sonic retrospective vid, that means so much 😭😭 That was like the start of ALL of this (even me drawing) so it's very special to me.
I found your channel through the Rooftop Run video and I love your level analysis and the animations you do. I discovered new things through these videos, and now I pay more attention to such things :) I look forward to future level analysis :D My suggestion would be Final Rush from Sonic Adventure 2.
Thank you! These videos remind me to pay attention when I'm sprinting through levels. Noted on Final Rush, I do wonder if I should attempt to compare that with the Shadow remix, as it's not a direct replication and instead more of just a thematic one? Still gotta think on that. And still gotta A rank that Sonic stage lol
@@Ajakes The Ark in Shadow Gens is very interesting because it takes level design and setpieces from the many versions of the level, even the Shadow 05 runs through it in many parts. I don't think you can compare it to just Final Rush because it's like it's not even trying to go for that same feeling and is instead meant to go for a feeling that invokes a more familiar and simple sense, like it's a place Shadow knows like the back of his hand at this point and he's just cruising through all these older places to get to Black Doom. It sells it as a tutorial stage, which contrasts to other versions of the Ark which are mostly final levels.
Been watching this over and over for the last few days, love how high quality you make your videos, all the little drawings and illustrations are so fun, and personally I’d never even seen kingdom valley besides sonics, so this was really eye opening. Can’t wait to see what else you make!
I didn't even remember what the other KV's looked like until I started making this, was shocked to see Shadow get so many fun G.U.N. toys lol. Thanks for watching dude!
omg i physically jumped when i saw you uploaded kweqmfjbwqfej thank you, ive been waiting patiently for this video and i am very excited to rewatch this several times
8:52 dude i had way too much fun watching you explain the level layout and the amount or detail and effort you put into it just made it better I LOVE IT SO MUCH PLEASE KEEP MAKING MORE OF THESE LEVEL ANALYSIS FOR OTHER STAGE'S IN 06
Kingdom valley is one of the best levels in all of Sonic imo, and it truly shows when you play it in Sonic p06. And shadows generations version is fantastic, act 2 may be my favourite level overall. Love your videos dude, keep it up!
RUclips recommended me this video and I couldn't be happier about it Like what do you mean, did you draw&animate all your 'speeches' and explanations YOURSELF???? Like the amount of effort??? And they were really good and funny to?? I was already hooked the first five minutes in and actually watched the video in one go - it was really really well explained and just enough love to detail and visual explanation that my sonic-hungry brain needed It really made me appreciate the effort behidn the level design so much more & as a very bad player I always appreciate to see all the different pathways&how to get there! Seriously I am blown away by this video and this was my first one from your channel, I will gladly watch more and follow you from now on! Idk if this is a place for recommendations but I would be thrilled to see you tackle the level design of Sonic Heroes, it's my favourite game besides 06 and I think it has a lot of cool details and designs, tho would be probably a mess to make with uh...4 different teams idfgdfg Tho the way you did it in this video really helped me to keep track, you outdid it with this format! Keep up the good work and I am happy to watch other videos from you! (Also I read Snoc75 comment and I am so happy that I am not the only one whose fantasy got kickstarted by Sonic games and having a fond nostalgia because of it w)
Hey thanks! The intro bits are some of my favorite to do, glad you like em! Heroes has been on my radar ever since I decided to do more Generations levels. Seaside Hill alone, in BOTH games, is phenomenal, so I'm hyped to get to it next year. But with 4 different campaigns... on 2 different levels... gonna be a lot of work. That one might go long too rofl, so PREPARE YOURSELF. Also Snoc75's comments are legendary, that comment alone made me think, "ya know, there's other ways to love these games that I never considered," which made me much more open to 06 and take a totally different approach. Thanks for the nice comment! ❤️
wow this is a really good video. your animations are really cute and your thorough analysis was extremely engaging. nice job, keep it up! can't wait for p-06!
This was such an enjoyable watch! Thanks for putting so much effort into this video! Loved it so much, im gonna check out more of your stuff! Good job.
HOW DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Also wonderful analysis as usual, it astonished me how they took one of the best levels from 06 and made it nearly perfect
This was an absolute welcome treat to see, I thought it was taking a bit longer than I expected but WOW I can see why. Kingdom Valley might be one of my favourite levels in Shadow Generations, second only to Chaos Island. Also, I noticed that little tease of Skyscraper Scamper near the beginning. If that turns out to be the next video I'm gonna be so happy! If not, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, these level design analysis videos are a blast!
Kingdom Valley is probably my favorite stage in 06 from a pure environmental story telling and spectacle standpoint, and in P-06 it's even better on a gameplay standpoint. Shadow Generations captures the great things about Kingdom Valley beautifully making it my favorite stage in Shadow Generations lol
I think it would be a good idea, if once youve gone through most of your "Original vs X Shadow" comparison vids you did the same with project 06 I think this format has alot more life in it Thanks again Adam for making my day :)
Def planning on it, consider this video a "Part 1" in that regard. Excited to make more episodes, def digging the format! (gives me such an excuse to DRAW) thx 4 watchin :)
These level design analyses are some of the best sonic content I watch on youtube. I'm so happy u started making them. They're really good at just explainining what makes certain things in sonic levels work and they're really fun to watch. Also you didn't mention the cool skip with doom blast on the left of that little homing attack chain at 35:14 u can't cover anything but there's a lot of alternate paths in this level to improve ur time.
That's true, it skips the wind switch by sending you right into the glass right? I noticed how some of those skips are out of the way in Shadow Gens (homing the chain of robots and going LEFT into a dash ring at the start or in the beginning of KV Act 2, going down right away will help launch you above the wind switch at the start.) but I like that because it encourages exploration. They almost seem like punishment paths until you get into them and then realize the timeskip. Anywho, thank you!
Hey dude, I just wanted to say that I'm in love with your videos. Every time you drop a Sonic video it takes priority over everything else I'm watching/playing. Your Rooftop Run video feels like a high quality video in a long running series of level comparison videos and not like the first one in the series. Also the work it went into matching sections on all the level's version is insane keep up the good work ♥
Theres only one man I know who can make an hour long video comparing two of the same stage but different and completely entertaining me along the way, i LOVE kingdom valley btw; S RANK STAGE
Watched the full video, this pleases my autism, thank you so much. If you start playing P-06 make sure to read the manual and check the option/extra menus!! ❤️❤️
Your videos are so awesome! Your sense of comedy is impeccable and I really enjoyed how patient and understanding you were with people you may not have agreed with at all! Overall super comfy and respectful vibes! I'll definitely be waiting for the P-06 videos haha!
Don't you dare call this video unorganized. I was incredibly impressed from all the editing, visual gags such as Shadow splatting on a wall, how intricately you went through all the iterations of Kingdom Valley, especially showing the layout from top and how each hedgehog traverses through it topping it off with silly drawings. You deserve way more subs and this video deserves millions of views. I look forward to seeing your video on Project 06, as I'm sure you'll have a great time with it!
Thank you, I think trying to fit everything in jumbled my brain near the end, and I couldn't tell if it was only making sense to ME since I had been looking at it for like 3 weeks lol. Glad it came through for you, thank you for the kind words, and I can't wait for P-06 too!
You are so criminally underrated, when i went to check your subscriber count i expected 100.000 subs or even 200.000 subs, but only 20.000?!?! You use so many custom silly drawings in your videos and the editing is great! Hope you get more famous in the future
Another banger analysis. I never realized how much level sonic had out of the 3. Id love to just see a bare minimum analysis of just how much of each section each character has like the map layout
Critical analysis with doodle annotations has to be one of my favorite genres of video on this platform. I really have to appreciate how open minded you were dissecting 06’s iterations of the level. At the end of the day, it’s a game that does indeed have competent level design, and it’s great to finally have it fully realised rather than remade from the ground up. Looking forward to more videos in this series down the road!
This had some really solid disection of the make ups of Kingdom Valley! Really appreciate how in-depth you went with the context to support your points! Great stuff!
little known fact, one tiem when playing vanilla sonic 06 i waited long enough in the end of the sonic section before going into the mach speed segment and silver actually showed up and i got to play as him
Another splendid vid. 👍 Didn't realized that the start of shadow gens's Kingdom Valley was based off the Shadow portion of "Eagle Valley". I knew it looked like the beginning of sonic's section but never noticed it was in the reverse direction. And after watching this I was so blown away by how many references you managed to find ESPECIALLY the room where Shadow meet Mephiles for the first time. I didn't even noticed!!! From my personal experience, Kingdom Valley definitely felt grand to me as a kid. The music, the stormy weather, and that fact the Silver was now your ally made going through the level feel like your about to enter some big final showdown. Though I do remember not liking that final mach speed section. The visuals and music was jaw dropping but that can only do so much after many deaths and game overs. Didn't help that if you forgot to save, you get sent back to the three trials challenges before getting another chance to complete Kingdom valley. I also remember having trouble with the water run. Mainly because I had no idea where to go. You are given the ENTIRE wall to run on and with the broken pillars and item boxes scattered everywhere, I had trouble knowing where to go. But eventually I discovered the secret power of just heading in a straight line. :) Also seeing my own comment at 59:08 gave me a quick jump scare lol. Wasn't expecting that.
I think everytime I managed to get to the water section as a kid, I had 0 lives, which made it 1000x more harrowing rofl. That's where I learned to just run in straight simple lines, because I was terrified of restarting everything all over again. I don't think actually explored that section until this video, I was even surprised to find item pods down there lol. Happy you got to see it, thanks for suggesting the level! 👍
Just came into the comments to say, PLEASEEEEEE do Speed Highway Act 2 from Sonic Generations. Absolutely love the concept and atmosphere of the level, also love how you’re blowing up with every video. Hopefully it goes no where but up 🙏
Kingdom valley was always my favorite from the game. I think it's because everything about the presentation hits so well. From the looks to the music everything looks and feels solemn, inspired. It has always been great. Shadow generations knew what worked about it and let it shine. Also that Act 2 remix, what a banger.
It might just be the voice but the beginning of this video reminds me of fetch with ruffruffman and i loved it very much, excited to see where you take us next!
I am glad I found this video because it is good. Kingdom Valley has stuck with me since that mythical Xbox demo where Sonic 06 ran better than the final game because of reasons. Can't wait for the eventual P-06 follow up.
59:03 I love the nod You give to normal 06 fans While I’ve never played it it’s nice to see someone online who genuinely puts care and effort into understanding other arguments instead of demonising Its argument makers.
Your videos are excellent, your recent comparisons between games have been some the best creator content ive consumed in a while lol. Your analysis on the gameplay and camera angles and stuff really gets me thinking, and you sprinkle in some good humor and great animations. As a viewer I can see the effort and love you put into your videos and it definitely shows. Sonic '06 on the PS3 was one of my first-ever video games as a kid. I'm now in my early 20s and almost finished with my studies, but I still vividly remember going to Blockbuster and looking at the video game section, where Sonic '06 immediately caught my eye. I convinced my dad to rent it, and I played it for weeks before finally buying the game because I had fallen in love with it. Being young and inexperienced, I didn’t know how unfinished and buggy the game was; I just thought I was playing badly, lol. I remember wandering around for hours trying to figure out how to get to Wave Ocean, jumping into the water hundreds of times. I even asked my parents for help, but as non-gamers, they were clueless. It took me ages to figure out you had to buy the item from the shop, and the first time I did the light speed dash to the portal I felt like a genius. Later on in the game I had my parents invite my adult cousin gamer over to help me beat the Silver fight as Sonic because I just couldn't do it, haha. Despite everything, I loved the game. Now that I've matured more I can realize that its not as great as the child me thought it was, but I've completed it several times, and it remains in my top three childhood games. When I think about the games that influenced my childhood and probably had an impact on who I am today, Sonic '06 always comes to mind. I thought Sonic was the coolest character ever, and I loved the entire cast. The opening cutscene of Elise on the boat is permanently burned into my brain because of how many times I had to rewatch it after dying. I can still hear the music in my head. I even tried running like Sonic, with my arms out, because I thought it looked cool and made me faster. I didn't care that I looked like a moron haha. I even forced my friend to play multiplayer with me a couple times, and I would always pick silver just to troll him and make him rage. I found the mach speed section of Wave Ocean fascinating, when Sonic jumps off the pillars and his back is facing the next one. I thought it looked so badass and nonchalant until I grew up and realized it was literally an unfinished animation, haha. I loved the stages, especially Wave Ocean, which was definitely my favorite. Once I got the purple gem, I would jump around the entire map as Sonic, discovering areas meant for other characters that I thought were “secret” areas. I fondly remember the hub worlds, exploring every nook and cranny of all the hub worlds especially Soleanna. I remember trying to jump onto the fire and repeatedly dying in the water, also using the purple gem to reach the Kingdom Valley portal,,l or glitching into city buildings.I would look up glitches on youtube and try to do them myself. Shadow seemed like a total badass, but Silver was even cooler to me with his telekinesis powers, which I thought were overpowered back then. Playing as him after fighting him with Sonic blew my mind. Everything from the characters and stages to the music and cutscenes, especially the one where Sonic saves Elise and jumps out of Eggman's ship, has stuck with me. Sonic '06 is like burned into part of my childhood memories. The game, despite its bugs and unfinished elements, is still one I like to keep up with, even though I don't play it anymore. Nowadays I like to play the boost formula games, but 06 will always be near to me If anyone is reading this maybe you can relate a little. Whatever your childhood game was, maybe you can understand how i feel, and maybe you feel the same way. All i have to say is to cherish the memories we have. Life is short so every now and then take a moment to relive your childhood.
I loved reading this, thanks for putting all your 06 memories into writing. Every game imprints the "cool" factor of Sonic onto the player, but man if you're first Sonic was 06, then Sonic probably looks like a badass with how dark the tone is on that one. I think a lot of people here can relate to your story. What I'm learning through the comments is how meaningful this game was to people growing up, and how little all the hiccups stopped them from enjoying it. It's heartwarming to hear. Thanks for commenting!
Two things: 1) You have earned yourself a new subscriber. The editing, the unique assets, the funny yet quick little skits that move the video along. Your pacing is incredible! 2) I have always liked Kingdom Valley, even as a child. It was most definitely the best part of retail 06, and it definitely is amazing within Shadow Generations as well. Project 06 definitely makes the entirety of 06 feel better. It really is what the game should've been, but we unfortunately never got. It makes me love 06 so much more and I even refer to Project 06 as 06 sometimes. It really is just what 06 should've been. Great video, kept me engaged the entire time, and I usually don't watch long videos like this without falling asleep.
Thank you! I appreciate you sticking around 👍 A lot of people use P-06 interchangeably with og 06, so I can see why. Might use it as a baseline for the eventual Crisis City comparison, but I still gotta see. I like the challenge of using the original game haha. Thanks for watching the whole thing!
incredible video, your editing is so clean and concise, i especially like how you handled the route explanation visually kingdom valley, hell 06 in general got it really good in shadow gens, you can tell the developers really wanted to revisit some of 06's ideas and go all out with it, almost as a way to make the game be seen in a better light
I wonder if there's almost a little passionate rage in the development too, like "you fucked us over with time on 06, now we're gonna show you how good we can make these levels" lol (thanks for watching!)
Your videos itch the perfect wrinkles in my brain. Thank you for your awesome analysis, animations, and personality. Please keep these Sonic videos up! In a healthy and balanced manner though lol
You can really tell that the devs were very proud of this level in Shadow Gens, out of all the levels Kingdom Valley feels like the one they put the most time and commitment into making considering how much they brought back and referenced from its original counterpart and how much detail is added. And Act 2 just continues to build off of it by adding set pieces that weren’t even in the original version. It also helps that this level got the luxury of not having to implement a radical highway section like the rest of the levels (besides chaos) so it gets the chance to breathe and show off everything it has to offer.
With how fun and creative your videos are, im very excited to see more of this analisis, even tho they take you a while, its worthy for stuff like this dude! Also, i would love to see you talking about any level from the rush trilogy, particularly rush adventure because i think its not very talked even though i love its levels and how fun they are
Thanks, I think they take me around 3-ish weeks per episode, but I'm trying to find ways to streamline the process. I will def hit Rush as it's in the 3DS version of Gens, but I also got Rush Adventure so I can try that one too (I never hear people talk about it online either, so I'm really curious)
33 minutes in and already enjoying 2D spectacles also yes I will wait patiently for the Project 06 video. Also a request : can you make a video where you list all your favorite Sonic songs
Dude, first of all: Awsome Video! I can't believe how much work is in this. Literally for a Sonic 06 Level haha. Keep going like this! It was like watching a great movie. The perfect video to watch while eating :D My first thoughts after I finished the Generations Kingdom Valley was like: "Wow, that was the best Sonic Level i've ever played in 13 years!!!" I think, when the leveldesign from Shadow Generations will be used in the next Sonic Games - it will be a Sonic Era like we have seen in the 3-4 years of Unleashed, Colors and Generations.
Mealtime videos, my FAVORITE. Yeah, I think (hopefully) we're entering into another golden age of Sonic rn, Sega has SO much good will right now, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the trigger on Sonic Adventure 3 lol
Great video! 1 hour felt like nothing while watching this. I cant wait for more of these. Something I think you missed is that the last 2 towers in Kingdom Valley Act 2 is referencing Planet Wisp Act 4s tower climb. They both have similar level design segments.
As fro kingdom valley (sonic) in po6 st least you start to appreciate the combat rooms oncexyou are going for s ranks. The chains the enemy give you get you a higher score at the end. Also protip for project 06, while landing on the ground ends your combo, bouncing does not,so dont be afraid to bounce if trying to get that last enemy.
There's a few times you mentioned "Shadow forgot this" or "Shadow remembered this area" but I wanted to bring up the point that Shadow in Generations has never been to Kingdom Valley. Sonic 06 ends with that game being completely erased, and it's what drives the story behind the Mephiles fight in Shadow Generations, where he's fighting to re-intergrate himself into the timeline again and you get so much great dialogue from him as he's fighting Shadow. Also as a possible future analysis idea, doing an "old vs new" of Sunset Heights would be incredible because while Kingdom Valley is a stage that has great ideas and moments in a game that couldn't deliver through gameplay and mechanics, Sunset Heights is a stage that only ever had good concepts but the original game doesn't deliver any ideas while Shadow Generations brought them to life.
I thought the idea in Shadow Gens was more that he's going to places he could've been at, even if he doesn't remember. Like his "soul" remembers, in a sense, but not his mind. We as the audience (and maybe the Time Eater, in a sense) know he went to KV, but just not Shadow himself. I used that to explain the Sunset Heights level, since he hasn't been there yet, but the Time Eater knows he will, and therefore brings it over. But that theory doesn't hold a lot of water once we get to Chaos Island lol (UNLESS we get some sort of Frontiers 2 in the future with Shadow showing up...? 👀) Either way, Sunset Heights is def on the list. Thanks for the comment 👍
Hi! Just wanted to say this is an AMAZING video and you should totally be proud of yourself dude. I'm so happy RUclips recommended your stuff to me, I was hooked on the Rooftop Run video and have just craved your content ever since. You have such a unique style and a great personality + sense of humor. Keep it up, as long as you keep posting, I'll keep watching!
Your editing and the amount of unique assets made for these videos is insane
Wow, thanks Mark! I appreciate that 🙏Also congrats on all your S ranks, I couldn't even manage Silver's lol
@@AjakesYeah that was pretty incredible, I’m trying to a rank heroes, colors and the rush games and even that alone is pretty difficult.
Can believe you got LSMark on the video

EYY love your stuff man!! Thanks for teaching me about P-06 to begin with!
Holy shit

How’s the shadow I mean the superstars review going on?
Early on in the video, P06 is a remake, not a mod. They rebuilt the whole game while trying to stay true to ST's original vision
....it's still a modification of the original game. A remake is officially made.
@@keelanbarron928What would being officially made have to do with anything? So if Sega did the same thing, would it be a remake then? If that’s the case then P-06 is a remake since that isn’t really a meaningful distinction. From what I know, they didn’t actually do any mods on Sonic 2006 directly
@@keelanbarron928literally not true, fan remakes have long been a thing
oh god, this is the "water rocket in Dragon Road lake" mistake of this video, just watch

cuz you got a Sonic addiction like me! (terminal)

I guess this is why my friends and family left me

I'm only 7 minutes into the video at the time of writing this comment but I just had to pause and say that your doodly editing style is so unique and makes my brain very happy
thank GOD because I can't draw anything past that lol, im STUCK TO DOODLES
@@Ajakeshonestly it’s giving Jaiden animations or theodd1out but sonic themed and I LOVE it. Excited to see more videos!

STAY THAT WAY I BEG.
Thank you! Always appreciate the comments dude! So excited to make more (including Windmill Isle... 👀)
The Shadow slamming into walls bit was so good, I loveee little stuff like that in videos - it just screams "I had fun making this video" and you can just tell
As for the analysis, it was as fun as always!

Chaos X will probably be releasing the final update within a year or so, do you plan on waiting for that to experience it all at once? @@Ajakes
@@Ajakesfrontiers has little “level” sections in the open world like that one section where the sniper shoots you in a 2d area but is behind you Kirby triple deluxe style or the underground death egg section
I think comparing like 5 of those sections could work but it still would be a challenge
@@Ajakes I’d say include it in the Music comparison but if it where me
I’d start with the landmarks of the Island found in the game and where they are in shadow gens
Maybe highlight how each landmark here was supposed to be a discovery in frontiers where you stop and run around them a lot more and Maybe how they are converted into set pieces you blast through
Something that needs to get pointed out is that the Shadow in Sonic 06 is not the same character as Shadow in Shadow Generations.
@@xonact8855 That's basically what I mean, though. 06 mechanics are poorly done in comparison to other games.
Dude, the amount of care you put into this video is super impressive, legitimately captivating until the end. That was awesome
Thanks man! I appreciate the coveted FULL watch lol (these days, that takes effort)
ONCE AGAIN. thank you so much for these level comparisons. They're absolutely crucial to simply understanding the formula for sonic I feel. Please keep rocking on!!
Will do!
I have literally only gotten into a huge sonic 06 and project 06 stint this week, and literally started binging some of ur content like yesterday, then boom, this video comes out right after. I swear coincidental video releases like this happen so much more often than it feels like they should
What timing! People have also been discussing 06 a ton after the creators mentioned wanting to remake it. Thanks for the comment!
The download itself is of google drive which can be found under in the description of the official youtube announcement for the silver campaign's release on ChoasX's channel (ChaosX is the lead of the whole project). ruclips.net/video/SCD5aQLlCD4/видео.html
To understand the basic and information, I would recommend 2 videos by the project 06 channel Stelmo98.
- Every Sonic Project 06 Character Ability Explained: ruclips.net/video/5yRI46XhDLE/видео.html
-- This is a really good video that just shows you what every character does. Great video to start out with or have early in your watch list for this just to know what things do.
- 100 Facts About Sonic Project 06 You May Not Know (but should): ruclips.net/video/_pQ1oemmP8Q/видео.html
-- This video is good for a lot if small random facts (pretty obviously since it's a large random fact collection vid).
(idk which of his P 06 vids you've seen so far):
- Sonic P-06 is Rewriting History: ruclips.net/video/cJMl3sa8yjU/видео.html
-- His first video on the project General overview of the game and changes from 06, and released during the shadow release.
- The Joys of Sonic at Mach Speed (P-06 vs. Original): ruclips.net/video/5L8wo9FR4-U/видео.html
-- Focuses on Mach Speed (obv)
- How Sonic P-06 Transformed Shadow: ruclips.net/video/bdjTSiRDm2U/видео.html
-- Shadow focused video
- Sonic P-06 Has Redeemed Silver: ruclips.net/video/h7hoMSsmBao/видео.html
-- Only video over the silver release, covers the silver campaign and some changes the update brought elsewhere
- How Sonic 06 Handles Multiple Characters: ruclips.net/video/wVZ-wRlMuRg/видео.html
-- Not a P0-6 video, but it came up during my P0-6 watching binge.
- Sonic P-06 Is The Best Sonic Game Ever Made: ruclips.net/video/CxKVOh7_jjI/видео.html
I also found a decently long vid by Pariah695, I haven't watched it yet but I'm gonna soon lol.
- Project 06 - Sonic Was Always Good: ruclips.net/video/TeBjWzA4KPI/видео.html
If you want to actually talk to people about it specifically, I'm certain there are discord servers or subreddits for the project, modding, speedrunning it, etc.
@@AjakesThe main thing i'm curious about is just your reaction to the game, esp with your specific experience with the original 06.
I love how Shadow Gens' version of the stage still seems to be splitted into sections, not only that but the same sections as the original game, in the same order, you start in Wind, above the clouds, with the large valley/hallway/"canyon" that has multiple paths on it, then you go to Riverside as you enter the first Doom Surf section, a small closed valley with castle towers on it, exit on Castle, you go through tons of giant castle towers and castle walls, the towers are huge, and sure make their presence notable there, although they don't fall in Shadow Gens like they do in the original, and the Mach Speed is the last one, ending the stage, taking place beetween 2 giant waves on both sides
It's also interesting how clever they got by kiiiinda removing the "gimmicky" part of the first 2 sections that don't fit Shadow Gens, instead of the Glider in Wind (that they could somehow replace with the Doom Wing I feel, and you can even make an argument about how using the Doom Wing would be the same as crossing that section with the Hovercraft, intentional reference or not lol), he instead runs through the section like Sonic does, and it does still make sense for Shadow, after all, in End of the World, the last stage of 06 prior to Solaris, you play as every character (excluding Blaze and Sonic since they're both ded), in a single section of a random stage from the game, Rouge goes through a portion of Wave Ocean's first Sonic section/second Shadow section, Amy goes through a portion of the second section of White Acropolis, Silver goes through a portion of the outside section of Dusty Desert, etc. And Shadow, goes exactly through the 1st section of Kingdom Valley, Wind, but actually running, through Sonic's section
And in the second section in Shadow Gens, they removed what Silver and Rouge could do, instead just focusing on the last section of Shadow, where he uses the Hovercraft to cross the lake, and transformed that into the Doom Surfing section
Comment is long, but I want to say what I'll say, so I'll make it brief: I'm excited and curious to see your comments, feedback and opinions on P-06 once you give it a try, seeing your comments about 06, talking about things that were upgraded, tweaked or just changed in P-06 made me quite excited for you to see the difference of Night and Day that game made to 06
I'm just as excited to try P-06, and "eat my words" in a sense lol.
@@Ajakes When I first saw the Doom Wing, and they revealed that you could play with it on the levels, I immediatly thought about it being a replacement for both the Hovercraft in Sonic 06 and the Black Hawks from Shadow 05, since both have the same purpose, make Shadow fly across sections
It's a reason why I wish a level from Shadow 05 (specifically Sky Troops since you have the section where you get into a thunderstorm and have to fly to an island to another) in Shadow Gens, I'm okay with the fact that it didn't happend, at least it still serves to reference the hovercraft on 06
And... a recommendation maybe I'd make, is for you to watch the video about 100 facts about Project 06 at some point, maybe after you beat all the stages or make 100% if you decide to do so, I think there are some facts that are absolutely cool, and the game has many secrets that should be known, ChaosX, the creator of P-06 even makes a cameo on the video and made a fact check on it
@@ThisisTheUltimate totally forgot about the Black Hawks in 05, good pull. Someone recommended this video too, I'll give it a watch!
Blaze didn't die, she went to the sol dimension, it's been stated iblis is still in her
I love these videos, it seems so hard to find people to just talk for so long nowadays, so im glad i found a channel that can make hour long videos to satisfy my li'l sonic addiction :)
It has to be said: Ajakes is hilarious. The level analysis was amazing, but the drawing and the little jokes are just top tier.
Appreciate it!
Thanks dude, excited to make more!!
Just finished the video and you pointed out stuff I hadn’t even noticed despite beating 06 5 times in my life. Your comparisons between Gens and 06 also helped me appreciate the stage even more than I already did. Absolutely going to check out more of your content.
Thanks for finishing! Hope to make more of these so stay tuned!
First off, I have some things to say that I love about your videos:
Now some things about Kingdom Valley:
(2) I didn't pick up on the 50 obvious rings for the immediate Doom Wings, you're so right lol
(3) I recognized the Surf = Hovercraft, learned about the Wings = Glider through the comments, but I never picked up on the Boost = Buggy, and I think you're totally right.
I think it's the only part of the level that felt oddly lacking, especially with those long straight lines that
(5) you are very right about.
I know barely anything about Forces so it would be a treat for me
Amazing! I love these videos and I loved Shadow Gens' Kingdom Valley, I'm very excited to see what you got for these, especially because of the lenght, this will be awesome
(Also mandatory request for the next Unleashed level to be Jungle Joyride)
Edit: damn, I guess I'll wait for the Jungle Joyride one XD, good stuff makes you wait, so I'm in no rush, I love these videos, I'll watch you cover anything you put here!
Trust me, I'm a Jungle Joyrider all the way through, which is why I wanna give that level a bit of a lead up. IT WILL GET ITS DUE. It has to. It's so goddamn good. But thanks for watching! (and for being patient lol)
@@Ajakesbased take for the greatest level made in video gaming.
AND for liking my Sonic retrospective vid, that means so much 😭😭 That was like the start of ALL of this (even me drawing) so it's very special to me.
you are so genuinely entertaining I never thought Id be able to sit though an hour long video about kingdom valley
please never stop
I found your channel through the Rooftop Run video and I love your level analysis and the animations you do.
I discovered new things through these videos, and now I pay more attention to such things :)
I look forward to future level analysis :D
My suggestion would be Final Rush from Sonic Adventure 2.
@@shadeynine6567 True, it's almost like a thematic remix
@Ajakes Yeah! Like a sort of "what if we designed the ark to be the easy stage for once" that makes it unique!
I found this channel through the Rooftop Run video, these are all some of the most charming and entertaining analyses I've watched.
Been watching this over and over for the last few days, love how high quality you make your videos, all the little drawings and illustrations are so fun, and personally I’d never even seen kingdom valley besides sonics, so this was really eye opening. Can’t wait to see what else you make!
I didn't even remember what the other KV's looked like until I started making this, was shocked to see Shadow get so many fun G.U.N. toys lol. Thanks for watching dude!
omg i physically jumped when i saw you uploaded kweqmfjbwqfej
thank you, ive been waiting patiently for this video and i am very excited to rewatch this several times
haha, thank you
8:52 dude i had way too much fun watching you explain the level layout and the amount or detail and effort you put into it just made it better
I LOVE IT SO MUCH PLEASE KEEP MAKING MORE OF THESE LEVEL ANALYSIS FOR OTHER STAGE'S IN 06
Kingdom valley is one of the best levels in all of Sonic imo, and it truly shows when you play it in Sonic p06. And shadows generations version is fantastic, act 2 may be my favourite level overall. Love your videos dude, keep it up!
RUclips recommended me this video and I couldn't be happier about it
Like what do you mean, did you draw&animate all your 'speeches' and explanations YOURSELF???? Like the amount of effort??? And they were really good and funny to?? I was already hooked the first five minutes in and actually watched the video in one go - it was really really well explained and just enough love to detail and visual explanation that my sonic-hungry brain needed
It really made me appreciate the effort behidn the level design so much more & as a very bad player I always appreciate to see all the different pathways&how to get there!
Seriously I am blown away by this video and this was my first one from your channel, I will gladly watch more and follow you from now on!
Idk if this is a place for recommendations but I would be thrilled to see you tackle the level design of Sonic Heroes, it's my favourite game besides 06 and I think it has a lot of cool details and designs, tho would be probably a mess to make with uh...4 different teams idfgdfg
Tho the way you did it in this video really helped me to keep track, you outdid it with this format!
The humor with all the little details in the editing is freaking awesome!
Suffice to say I subbed
Thanks for subbing!
wow this is a really good video. your animations are really cute and your thorough analysis was extremely engaging. nice job, keep it up! can't wait for p-06!
This was such an enjoyable watch! Thanks for putting so much effort into this video! Loved it so much, im gonna check out more of your stuff! Good job.
Thanks for giving it a shot, hope you like the others! 👍
HOW DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Also wonderful analysis as usual, it astonished me how they took one of the best levels from 06 and made it nearly perfect
Agreed! Insane remix, one of the best. Thanks for the comment!
You're catching on quick... (thanks for the comment!)
I see your video gathered Sonic fans and celebrities, well done
more victims for me to scream Sonic at (thank you)
I think it would be a good idea, if once youve gone through most of your "Original vs X Shadow" comparison vids you did the same with project 06
I think this format has alot more life in it
Thanks again Adam for making my day :)
Def planning on it, consider this video a "Part 1" in that regard. Excited to make more episodes, def digging the format! (gives me such an excuse to DRAW)
thx 4 watchin :)
Your channel is so underrated man you deserve more attention
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO BEST STAGE IN SHADOW GENERATIONS AND SONIC '06
honestly i feel like Flame Core was better in 06 imo
HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Anywho, thank you!
i thought an hour would be too long to sit through but I ended up staying interested throughout the whole video, nice job
Hey dude, I just wanted to say that I'm in love with your videos. Every time you drop a Sonic video it takes priority over everything else I'm watching/playing.
Your Rooftop Run video feels like a high quality video in a long running series of level comparison videos and not like the first one in the series.
Also the work it went into matching sections on all the level's version is insane keep up the good work ♥
Thank you for the kind words! I'm really excited to turn this into a series, I appreciate u showing up to watch ❤️
Wow, it's, it's the best video I've ever see. I can't believe it. It's beautiful.
😭😭 ty
Theres only one man I know who can make an hour long video comparing two of the same stage but different and completely entertaining me along the way, i LOVE kingdom valley btw; S RANK STAGE
Watched the full video, this pleases my autism, thank you so much. If you start playing P-06 make sure to read the manual and check the option/extra menus!! ❤️❤️
Will do, thanks for watching!
Your videos are so awesome! Your sense of comedy is impeccable and I really enjoyed how patient and understanding you were with people you may not have agreed with at all! Overall super comfy and respectful vibes!
I'll definitely be waiting for the P-06 videos haha!
Thank you very much!
I love the theme that this is a field trip! It's kinda exciting in that way.
YAY THANK YOU
this is geneuinly insane editing and unqiue, really enjoyed how you explain stuff in detail with edits, awesome work
I love these anslysis videos i didnt realize how much level design intrested me until these videos
I love all the artwork and visualization you do in these breakdowns
The editing in this and the rooftop run video is immaculate! Very easy to follow along with!
Ey, thank you! I wanna keep doing silly drawings haha, so I appreciate the support 👍
"So, this is the fabled tilted towers."
(Also i love the videos, I rewatch them very frequently)
Another banger analysis. I never realized how much level sonic had out of the 3.
Id love to just see a bare minimum analysis of just how much of each section each character has like the map layout
Critical analysis with doodle annotations has to be one of my favorite genres of video on this platform. I really have to appreciate how open minded you were dissecting 06’s iterations of the level. At the end of the day, it’s a game that does indeed have competent level design, and it’s great to finally have it fully realised rather than remade from the ground up. Looking forward to more videos in this series down the road!
Okay so I had to pause the video but I LOVE YOUR STYLE! Literally it's like... the perfect format for a visual leaner like me. Powerpoints are SUPREME
YOU LIKED MY POWERPOINT!
I really like the sound design in these videos esp during the little animated skits. Its very satisfying to listen to despite its simplicity
Phenomenal video, hope there's more level analysis in the future
i love sonic levels and long format videos so much your channel is basically catered to me specifically
The first video I see from you was the sonic unleash and generations comparison of a level and it was perfect with this videos also❤
This video made me appreciate level design so much more. Thank you, you beautiful, beautiful bastard.
This had some really solid disection of the make ups of Kingdom Valley! Really appreciate how in-depth you went with the context to support your points! Great stuff!
Thank you!
God your videos are awesome, keep it up!!!
little known fact, one tiem when playing vanilla sonic 06 i waited long enough in the end of the sonic section before going into the mach speed segment and silver actually showed up and i got to play as him
It's cause he's from the future, he knew you were waiting too long
Another splendid vid. 👍
Didn't realized that the start of shadow gens's Kingdom Valley was based off the Shadow portion of "Eagle Valley".
Also seeing my own comment at 59:08 gave me a quick jump scare lol.
Hopefully it goes no where but up 🙏
Also, Speed Highway Classic?
Ooooo its on the list buddy, I promise u that. And thank you!
That SFX at 56:24 got me so much. It's those lil touches that turns this great video to an amazing one. Good stuff man!
I think I put that HL2 impact sfx in every single video lol, it's too perfect.
A video where the person is honest and doesn't bash or praise something just because? Perfect!
Sonic with HedgeHogman (ty!)
I honestly love how much information is crammed into this
I am glad I found this video because it is good. Kingdom Valley has stuck with me since that mythical Xbox demo where Sonic 06 ran better than the final game because of reasons. Can't wait for the eventual P-06 follow up.
59:03
I love the nod
You give to normal 06 fans
While I’ve never played it it’s nice to see someone online who genuinely puts care and effort into understanding other arguments instead of demonising Its argument makers.
Nowadays I like to play the boost formula games, but 06 will always be near to me
If anyone is reading this maybe you can relate a little.
Two things:
1) You have earned yourself a new subscriber.
The quality of ur content is insane bro
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great video mr Ajakes
Thank you mr Fear 🙇
Any time I hear shadow’s death “NOO-“ getting cut off always leaves me in hysterical laughter, great stuff
incredible video, your editing is so clean and concise, i especially like how you handled the route explanation visually
kingdom valley, hell 06 in general got it really good in shadow gens, you can tell the developers really wanted to revisit some of 06's ideas and go all out with it, almost as a way to make the game be seen in a better light
I wonder if there's almost a little passionate rage in the development too, like "you fucked us over with time on 06, now we're gonna show you how good we can make these levels" lol (thanks for watching!)
@@Ajakes oh absolutely lol
Holy cow! The video is so long! Good job with the work!
That's a good point about the Radical Highway section, the level really stands well on its own
With how fun and creative your videos are, im very excited to see more of this analisis, even tho they take you a while, its worthy for stuff like this dude!
That could be pretty easy to put out in between vids. If there's an appetite for it, I'd def be down! (I just don't know much about music lol)
@@Ajakes well you could put in some memories you've experienced when listening to that set song even if it's 06 bad😒😒
This is my first time watching content of yours, and I have to say, I love this video (and I haven’t even finished watching it yet)
Dude, first of all: Awsome Video! I can't believe how much work is in this. Literally for a Sonic 06 Level haha. Keep going like this! It was like watching a great movie. The perfect video to watch while eating :D
My first thoughts after I finished the Generations Kingdom Valley was like: "Wow, that was the best Sonic Level i've ever played in 13 years!!!"
I think, when the leveldesign from Shadow Generations will be used in the next Sonic Games - it will be a Sonic Era like we have seen in the 3-4 years of Unleashed, Colors and Generations.
Mealtime videos, my FAVORITE. Yeah, I think (hopefully) we're entering into another golden age of Sonic rn, Sega has SO much good will right now, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the trigger on Sonic Adventure 3 lol
all the check marks in your comment section is super cool. my boy's movin up in the yt space!
14:50 how the hell is it that 15 years later i'm learning somethign i never knew about sonic 06 when i played this game nonstop
Great video! 1 hour felt like nothing while watching this. I cant wait for more of these. Something I think you missed is that the last 2 towers in Kingdom Valley Act 2 is referencing Planet Wisp Act 4s tower climb. They both have similar level design segments.
this was great
I cannot believe the level I suggested made it in to thexintro. Hope it gets it's own video. Stay blessed dude. You are amazing
It was the one of the most "out of left field" picks, so I had to shout it out lol
Either way, Sunset Heights is def on the list. Thanks for the comment 👍
AYE FROG FOREST MENTIONED! YOU REMEMBERED! Excited for this video
Never forget the frog forest
Ey, thank you so much, there's really nice to hear!
I love this intro so much. Also dude this video is edited so well!! Good job!!!
Thank you!
