Also let me say, I really enjoy your editing style and pacing of your videos. The jokes last just the right amount of time, and the little animations really sell those bits well. Genuinely you deserve way more views and subscribers my dude. Keep up the fantastic work, I'm so glad I discovered your content!
@@keelanbarron928What would being officially made have to do with anything? So if Sega did the same thing, would it be a remake then? If that’s the case then P-06 is a remake since that isn’t really a meaningful distinction. From what I know, they didn’t actually do any mods on Sonic 2006 directly
I'm only 7 minutes into the video at the time of writing this comment but I just had to pause and say that your doodly editing style is so unique and makes my brain very happy
@@Ajakes STAY THAT WAY I BEG. It’s such a strange and unique style compared to all the talent artists on this platform. Someone with an utterly mediocre skill-set who’s just passionate about things he likes is *just* the right kind of person RUclips needs.
You hit the nail in the head that a lot of 06's problems came down to mechanics, not so much the levels themselves. More than anything, the level design reflects the game's goal of being a culmination of what worked in the prior Adventure games; the broader design of SA1, and the more specific design of SA2, coming together to form some of the most ambitious levels they could deliver. And I can tell Kingdom Valley was THE level, the one with the most content, the one that blows anything else out the water. Which is a shame when it's...not very fun. Because actually controlling the characters and going through waves of repetitive, sluggish combat, on top of the game's technical issues, fails to deliver what should've been the coolest moment of the game. And it's STILL cool to an extent, I can see the vision! But until Project 06 and now Shadow Generations, I always thought of Kingdom Valley as that one cool looking level that overstayed its welcome, another slog of a level to get through in a game full of levels that go on for too long. It is actually funny comparing Shadow's run of Kingdom Valley in 06 to Shadow Generations. He REALLY didn't do much in 06, huh? It's mostly two vehicle sections, and a Rouge section. And this is his second level! I'm not surprised that Shadow Generations took more from Sonic's run of the level than Shadow, because it's barely about him.
It's a shame that the Adventure gameplay never got a chance to really shine. They were always held back by lack of polish, annoying padding, underwhelming mechanics, poor physics, and other deliberate design choices. P06 shows that with a few tweaks, it could have been a better gameplay style than the boost games that we've been getting up to now if they committed more to it.
I think you summarized my thoughts perfectly lol, cause that was my take after coming off the comparison. Charmingly ambitious but ultimately faulty and in need of repair. I feel like the 06 remixes get the most hype, not only because a lot of people just remember the bad, but it's interesting to see them take these more open maps and translate them into a boost level. Crisis City got pretty boosted, but Shadow Gens attempted to stick to a lot of 06's original intentions, that's why it's one of the most impressive remixes across BOTH of those games. Also yeah, Shadow got a bit shafted with his "toys" and character swaps lol, I can't believe his first real "on foot" section is all the way at the end, after ALL those loading screens.
ONCE AGAIN. thank you so much for these level comparisons. They're absolutely crucial to simply understanding the formula for sonic I feel. Please keep rocking on!!
Chaos Island vs Chaos Island would be hella interesting to see you compare. Given the whole fact it's comparing an Open Zone Hub World to two full levels.
would be a fun challenge, I don't even know where to START in that regard (do I include the cyberspace levels / the small puzzles over the island / etc.)
2 things: 1: i want you to know that i love this channel! I really adore these level deep-dives and i can already tell ill be rewatching this along with all your other stuff a LOT over the upcoming years lol and 2: dude you are going to LOVE project 06
I found your channel through the Rooftop Run video and I love your level analysis and the animations you do. I discovered new things through these videos, and now I pay more attention to such things :) I look forward to future level analysis :D My suggestion would be Final Rush from Sonic Adventure 2.
Thank you! These videos remind me to pay attention when I'm sprinting through levels. Noted on Final Rush, I do wonder if I should attempt to compare that with the Shadow remix, as it's not a direct replication and instead more of just a thematic one? Still gotta think on that. And still gotta A rank that Sonic stage lol
The Shadow slamming into walls bit was so good, I loveee little stuff like that in videos - it just screams "I had fun making this video" and you can just tell As for the analysis, it was as fun as always! Personally it was pretty easy to follow along with everything. You bring a really refreshing level of objectivity and subjectivity that makes watching super engaging to listen too. Even when you don't like a certain element or section it's not a slog to hear your opinions as to why and you respect how others may feel differently. Plus the humor is just good. Honestly it reminds me of why I enjoy Bickuribox12's videos so much! This was another lovely watch! (while I was drawing Sonic go figure lol)
I did scour the video with a hanna barbara sound pack, looking for every stupid impact lol. Glad you got to catch this one, I appreciate all the comments on my last videos. And bickuribox is amazing so thanks for the HIGH PRAISE. Btw if you got a place for your Sonic drawings, i'd love to know 👀
@@Ajakes Yeah man I'm locked in cause I know regardless of the level or Sonic game the video is probably gonna be alot of fun! Also I do! It's on my personal Twitter account (unfortunately) I'd be willing to send a dm there since I don't wanna promote my twitter under your video XD
I love how Shadow Gens' version of the stage still seems to be splitted into sections, not only that but the same sections as the original game, in the same order, you start in Wind, above the clouds, with the large valley/hallway/"canyon" that has multiple paths on it, then you go to Riverside as you enter the first Doom Surf section, a small closed valley with castle towers on it, exit on Castle, you go through tons of giant castle towers and castle walls, the towers are huge, and sure make their presence notable there, although they don't fall in Shadow Gens like they do in the original, and the Mach Speed is the last one, ending the stage, taking place beetween 2 giant waves on both sides It's also interesting how clever they got by kiiiinda removing the "gimmicky" part of the first 2 sections that don't fit Shadow Gens, instead of the Glider in Wind (that they could somehow replace with the Doom Wing I feel, and you can even make an argument about how using the Doom Wing would be the same as crossing that section with the Hovercraft, intentional reference or not lol), he instead runs through the section like Sonic does, and it does still make sense for Shadow, after all, in End of the World, the last stage of 06 prior to Solaris, you play as every character (excluding Blaze and Sonic since they're both ded), in a single section of a random stage from the game, Rouge goes through a portion of Wave Ocean's first Sonic section/second Shadow section, Amy goes through a portion of the second section of White Acropolis, Silver goes through a portion of the outside section of Dusty Desert, etc. And Shadow, goes exactly through the 1st section of Kingdom Valley, Wind, but actually running, through Sonic's section And in the second section in Shadow Gens, they removed what Silver and Rouge could do, instead just focusing on the last section of Shadow, where he uses the Hovercraft to cross the lake, and transformed that into the Doom Surfing section Comment is long, but I want to say what I'll say, so I'll make it brief: I'm excited and curious to see your comments, feedback and opinions on P-06 once you give it a try, seeing your comments about 06, talking about things that were upgraded, tweaked or just changed in P-06 made me quite excited for you to see the difference of Night and Day that game made to 06
I'm just as excited to try P-06, and "eat my words" in a sense lol. 2 things I totally missed: Using Doom Wings at the start is replicating the glider flight, that's so obvious in hindsight (I even show CLIPS of it) I'm surprised I missed that. But also the fact that Shadow DOES go through Sonic's section on End of the World. Admittedly I didn't rewatch/play through End of the World before making this, but that's a great observation. Thanks for that. And for the great comment too, appreciate it!
@@Ajakes When I first saw the Doom Wing, and they revealed that you could play with it on the levels, I immediatly thought about it being a replacement for both the Hovercraft in Sonic 06 and the Black Hawks from Shadow 05, since both have the same purpose, make Shadow fly across sections It's a reason why I wish a level from Shadow 05 (specifically Sky Troops since you have the section where you get into a thunderstorm and have to fly to an island to another) in Shadow Gens, I'm okay with the fact that it didn't happend, at least it still serves to reference the hovercraft on 06 And... a recommendation maybe I'd make, is for you to watch the video about 100 facts about Project 06 at some point, maybe after you beat all the stages or make 100% if you decide to do so, I think there are some facts that are absolutely cool, and the game has many secrets that should be known, ChaosX, the creator of P-06 even makes a cameo on the video and made a fact check on it
Amazing! I love these videos and I loved Shadow Gens' Kingdom Valley, I'm very excited to see what you got for these, especially because of the lenght, this will be awesome (Also mandatory request for the next Unleashed level to be Jungle Joyride) Edit: damn, I guess I'll wait for the Jungle Joyride one XD, good stuff makes you wait, so I'm in no rush, I love these videos, I'll watch you cover anything you put here!
Trust me, I'm a Jungle Joyrider all the way through, which is why I wanna give that level a bit of a lead up. IT WILL GET ITS DUE. It has to. It's so goddamn good. But thanks for watching! (and for being patient lol)
I love these videos, it seems so hard to find people to just talk for so long nowadays, so im glad i found a channel that can make hour long videos to satisfy my li'l sonic addiction :)
omg i physically jumped when i saw you uploaded kweqmfjbwqfej thank you, ive been waiting patiently for this video and i am very excited to rewatch this several times
wow this is a really good video. your animations are really cute and your thorough analysis was extremely engaging. nice job, keep it up! can't wait for p-06!
Kingdom valley is one of the best levels in all of Sonic imo, and it truly shows when you play it in Sonic p06. And shadows generations version is fantastic, act 2 may be my favourite level overall. Love your videos dude, keep it up!
HOW DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Also wonderful analysis as usual, it astonished me how they took one of the best levels from 06 and made it nearly perfect
I have literally only gotten into a huge sonic 06 and project 06 stint this week, and literally started binging some of ur content like yesterday, then boom, this video comes out right after. I swear coincidental video releases like this happen so much more often than it feels like they should
@Ajakes ye np mate. Love the contet style. all I ask is when you do finally give p06 a shot, do some research on yt and stuff to understand the intricacies of what has changed, what's new, and and the details of some of the stuff. Not in like a "oh p06 is a remake not a mod, get ur fakts straight" way, but in a "hoping you can really appreciate every little detail they've poured into this game" mostly when it comes to gameplay and improvements. Watching p06 vids that explained some of the intricacies of the mechanics and changes along side learning the game gave me a huge appreciation for the project as a whole.
@@KrispyKorpse Def agree, that's a big reason as to why I wanna keep it as a separate video, I feel like there's a LOT I could dig into. Will do my research! Anything you can point to / think I should look at for help?
@@Ajakes Ye for sure. Just as a start, it's still a W.I.P., the bosses and final stage aren't finished, and there are 5 demos that have been released so far, the main 2 to note being the shadow and silver releases which are demos 4 and 5. The first 3 were just progressive releases of sonic stages (i think, i'm still kinda new to the whole p-06 thing myself lol), the shadow release added all of shadows levels, and the silver release is the current live build in terms of being up to date that added silver's campaign. Most vids usually focus on one of those last 2 depending on when it was released. The download itself is of google drive which can be found under in the description of the official youtube announcement for the silver campaign's release on ChoasX's channel (ChaosX is the lead of the whole project). ruclips.net/video/SCD5aQLlCD4/видео.html To understand the basic and information, I would recommend 2 videos by the project 06 channel Stelmo98. - Every Sonic Project 06 Character Ability Explained: ruclips.net/video/5yRI46XhDLE/видео.html -- This is a really good video that just shows you what every character does. Great video to start out with or have early in your watch list for this just to know what things do. - 100 Facts About Sonic Project 06 You May Not Know (but should): ruclips.net/video/_pQ1oemmP8Q/видео.html -- This video is good for a lot if small random facts (pretty obviously since it's a large random fact collection vid). Whether you want to start earlier or later with it is up to you. It's primarily informational about the game so if you wanna hear more opinions or praises first or after learning the information I'll let you vibe with that. Bickuribox12 is definitely a great source for this and has a lot of videos going over the changes between the two and understanding the perspective of appreciating the game being incredible when just given the polish it needed. (idk which of his P 06 vids you've seen so far): - Sonic P-06 is Rewriting History: ruclips.net/video/cJMl3sa8yjU/видео.html -- His first video on the project General overview of the game and changes from 06, and released during the shadow release. - The Joys of Sonic at Mach Speed (P-06 vs. Original): ruclips.net/video/5L8wo9FR4-U/видео.html -- Focuses on Mach Speed (obv) - How Sonic P-06 Transformed Shadow: ruclips.net/video/bdjTSiRDm2U/видео.html -- Shadow focused video - Sonic P-06 Has Redeemed Silver: ruclips.net/video/h7hoMSsmBao/видео.html -- Only video over the silver release, covers the silver campaign and some changes the update brought elsewhere - How Sonic 06 Handles Multiple Characters: ruclips.net/video/wVZ-wRlMuRg/видео.html -- Not a P0-6 video, but it came up during my P0-6 watching binge. Might not be necessary, but helped show the idea behind how it worked, which helped see how it works well in 06 when the game itself actually works. J's reviews also made a great video over the game as well covering the silver release and all it's content. Similar vein as Brickuribox12's stuff I think, just a single, longer vid. This was the first one I watched after starting to play the project and binged a bunch of P-06 content. - Sonic P-06 Is The Best Sonic Game Ever Made: ruclips.net/video/CxKVOh7_jjI/видео.html I also found a decently long vid by Pariah695, I haven't watched it yet but I'm gonna soon lol. - Project 06 - Sonic Was Always Good: ruclips.net/video/TeBjWzA4KPI/видео.html If you want to actually talk to people about it specifically, I'm certain there are discord servers or subreddits for the project, modding, speedrunning it, etc. That's most of the stuff I've binged on it, the only other thing I watched around it was alpharad's playthrough of it which is just a playthrough vid, not really researchy, and Stelmo98's tier list of all character's abilities, which is interesting to see the thoughts on each of them from the perspective of a speedrunner (not ranked exclusively on their speedrunning use tho), tho it's more of a watch later for entertainment if anything Imo. The primary thing I would say tho is play the game for yourself. It honestly might be a great idea to just go in semi blind before you watch anything above just to see the gameplay for yourself first hand before you get any outside impressions. As someone who hasn't played sonic 06, the controls were a bit weird to get used to cause I most recently played frontiers, which made it a bit frustrating, and it has it's own little bit of unity engine jank since it's still a WIP, but for you who has, it should be night and day. I would hightly recommend just playing it, ASAP if you want, but later if you want to wait till you plan on focusing on a p-06 video so you don't get sidetracked from whatever ur current next vid focus is since ik you got a series to make.
Yes another video to eat up!! Once again absolutely stellar job with the editing, the pacing, the jokes and all the explanations!! I can truly see all the love, the care and the time you put into this video as well as the Rooftop Run and the Dragon Road ones so again thank you so much for that! I have never played 06 but I was so excited to play this level in gens and I was not disappointed! You said it all, the spectacle, the speed, the set pieces, everyhing comes together in a glorous way just like your analysis! To end on a personal wish, I would love to see my absolute favorite level featured: Planet Wisp from Colors and Generations. Played both versions recently and loved them both! I get the hate for act 1 in gens, it is horrible but I dont get it for act 2, I think the level is fantastic and flows really well with the rocket once you know what you are doing! And the start of the level in gens is just magical. I discovered this level from the music and it alone made me wish I could run on these hills, trees, over poison lakes and in factories! There is something about the music and the scenery coming together that makes it downright magical for me and that is why it is my favortie even though I played through it once in Colors (like it less I wish there was more to it, the acts are too short but still fantastic) and a few times in gens. Sorry for the long comment, there is so much more I would like to say, maybe later if I have the motivation to tap for 4 hours on my phone😂 So excited for the next analysis from Unleashed, really looking forward to what you have in store next, no matter the level because I know its gonna be oozing quality! Once again thank you for what you are doing and greetings from France friend!❤ (This is by far the longest comment I have ever typed😂)
Watched the full video, this pleases my autism, thank you so much. If you start playing P-06 make sure to read the manual and check the option/extra menus!! ❤️❤️
I really love these sorts of video game analysis videos! Especially enjoy these generations comparison videos; it's likely been done before but these are the first videos I've seen doing it. It makes me want to do a slideshow presentation on how sunset heights act 1 in shadow generations manages to both be a good level and feel like it could've came straight out of forces. Also, fun fact that has likely already been stated: at 35:04 you can see a doom fella on a platform in the bottom left corner. You can go down there and doom blast it through the window for a little shortcut. Or, you could aim around the tower and skip the enemy room entirely. OR, you could aim on top of the tower, and then spear glide (spam chaos spear in the air to conserve your momentum) and land in the water section, skipping the eagle that carries you over there. Though you would skip the trigger for the flying doom fella that gets you the shortcut. Anyway, great video! Thanks for making it :)
I knew about the doom blast but I never considered aiming AROUND the tower lol, that's a play right there. Honestly I should swing the Doom Blast around more, I bet there's some great vantage points you can get to (as you described). Also, go make that presentation! I know barely anything about Forces so it would be a treat for me
0:15 Genuinely exciting knowing that there's more on the way. I actually followed your LEGO channel first before stumbling onto this one and was sad that there wasn't as much to binge in terms of recent content. Happy you've found a format that motivates and interests you to upload more frequently because I can't get enough of your style of videos, your Sonic retrospective is easily one of the best things I've watched on this site 😩
Just finished the video and you pointed out stuff I hadn’t even noticed despite beating 06 5 times in my life. Your comparisons between Gens and 06 also helped me appreciate the stage even more than I already did. Absolutely going to check out more of your content.
Another banger analysis. I never realized how much level sonic had out of the 3. Id love to just see a bare minimum analysis of just how much of each section each character has like the map layout
Theres only one man I know who can make an hour long video comparing two of the same stage but different and completely entertaining me along the way, i LOVE kingdom valley btw; S RANK STAGE
incredible video, your editing is so clean and concise, i especially like how you handled the route explanation visually kingdom valley, hell 06 in general got it really good in shadow gens, you can tell the developers really wanted to revisit some of 06's ideas and go all out with it, almost as a way to make the game be seen in a better light
I wonder if there's almost a little passionate rage in the development too, like "you fucked us over with time on 06, now we're gonna show you how good we can make these levels" lol (thanks for watching!)
These level design analyses are some of the best sonic content I watch on youtube. I'm so happy u started making them. They're really good at just explainining what makes certain things in sonic levels work and they're really fun to watch. Also you didn't mention the cool skip with doom blast on the left of that little homing attack chain at 35:14 u can't cover anything but there's a lot of alternate paths in this level to improve ur time.
That's true, it skips the wind switch by sending you right into the glass right? I noticed how some of those skips are out of the way in Shadow Gens (homing the chain of robots and going LEFT into a dash ring at the start or in the beginning of KV Act 2, going down right away will help launch you above the wind switch at the start.) but I like that because it encourages exploration. They almost seem like punishment paths until you get into them and then realize the timeskip. Anywho, thank you!
Kingdom Valley is probably my favorite stage in 06 from a pure environmental story telling and spectacle standpoint, and in P-06 it's even better on a gameplay standpoint. Shadow Generations captures the great things about Kingdom Valley beautifully making it my favorite stage in Shadow Generations lol
I think it would be a good idea, if once youve gone through most of your "Original vs X Shadow" comparison vids you did the same with project 06 I think this format has alot more life in it Thanks again Adam for making my day :)
Def planning on it, consider this video a "Part 1" in that regard. Excited to make more episodes, def digging the format! (gives me such an excuse to DRAW) thx 4 watchin :)
Your video is nostalgic. The art you make reminds me of those early youtube sonic fan animations. I will say, i enjoy immensely these kinds of comparisons and id hope you keep making more.
This was an absolute welcome treat to see, I thought it was taking a bit longer than I expected but WOW I can see why. Kingdom Valley might be one of my favourite levels in Shadow Generations, second only to Chaos Island. Also, I noticed that little tease of Skyscraper Scamper near the beginning. If that turns out to be the next video I'm gonna be so happy! If not, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, these level design analysis videos are a blast!
I think you shouldve made the video longer by talking about Shadow's section of End of the World 👍 He is the character that gets Kingdom Valley during it! It makes the pick of the stage for shadow gens not just fitting for 06 but also for Shadow. And I'm pretty sure it's in Wind without the vehicles? Which is neat. Also as an 06 fan I appreciate your approach to discussing the flawed game, and as a Silver fan I love the jokes you make with him ☺
I love Silver so much. Sweet lil boy trapped in future hell. Also I only found out about that End of the World portion today 😩, but all your observations are right. That would've been good to include, so that one is on me. Thanks for watching!
holy shit dis videos so good, da fact ya try 2 view the game thru various lenses & understand various perspectives is so refreshin, & imma be hella excited 4 the series
59:03 I love the nod You give to normal 06 fans While I’ve never played it it’s nice to see someone online who genuinely puts care and effort into understanding other arguments instead of demonising Its argument makers.
Really good stuff man! As many have said, the doodles and tiny little visual gags are top teir. If you wanna continue the outpouring of love for shadow gens whilst maybe being a shorter vid before another long one. A comparison between sunset heights in gens vs forces would be cool. On a personal note, its my personal favourite in shadow gens and really goes to show how good forces COULD have been. With its spectacle and super inventive use of chaos control (im thinming of the bit where the bots rain bombs on you and suddenly you realise you can use them to climb to a semi hidden platform). Especially being able to compare the shadow vs sonic gameplay in forces whilst also going into how forces kinda butchered the boost style in its iteration of the style. Plus also, i think it was the first hedgehog engine 2 game, no? I may be wrong there.
If I didn't have a day ahead of myself, I'd sit here and watch one hour of peak right now, but alas employment calls... When I come back to this I'll make a second comment so consider this my sparce impressions, starting with: Dude holy fuck, you're GOOD. The animatics, editing, script, jokes, how am I only 9 minutes in and already thoroughly enjoying myself? You've got a fantastic feel for the pacing here and I'm beyond glad to have at least see you've uploaded because I was JUST thinking about the Rooftop run video for its camera angles. Sonic 06 is such an enigmatic game for me because after S ranking every "Hard" mode level through the trials, I realized just how *awful* it is. I always knew it was bad, but now there's just nothing there for me to glaze, I don't even like the set piece distribution, especially not in Shadow's campaign... So imagine my surprise with P-06 legitimately giving me fun through every level. There's lots of very minor changes in terms of obstacles, but straight level design and even camera angles are 1:1 off of my memory; which was a surprise for me. Not to babble though, I'm sure I'll have more to say when I finish this, but I just want to emphasize how nice it'll be to see your thoughts on both Retail 06 and then Project 06 in the future. Just wanted to add to the hype, both for this and anything else you've got in the works. Can't wait, man.
You made this so fast! How on earth could you make such a huge and highly edited video in such little time since shadow generations came out!? To make something of this length and QUALITY in such time would see me losing nights of sleep! Anyway another banger! Never played 06 (despite owning it) so its fun to learn along as you deconstruct and compare it, and thank you so much for addressing P-06 and how you're comparing to the original, sometimes it feels like people love P-06 so much that they forgot what we actually got lol. And finally, as for my random stage suggestion, I think if you ever find yourself at the end of this series, your final giant challenge should be to compare green hill zone. All of them. That would be a nightmarish yet facinating video lol.
I will never not be impressed by the amount of fun, dedication and creativity you put into these videos. Be proud of these, because they're without a doubt AMAZING!
To this day, this is one of the few Sonic 06 levels that people will get hype for upon seeing it. People were STOKED for it when Shadow Gens got the 2nd trailer, but even then, it’s the 06 stage I see most frequently in fan games. It could be that the level design is solid despite the game it’s from, but I think the theme of the level itself is one of the strongest in the series. Theres something that feels so right about seeing these characters blast through an old and abandoned castle is just such a cool concept.
With the old royalty aspect of Soleanna, I think a "castle" level was a shoe in, but I love how they dressed it up in 06. Grand, decrepit but also still mystical and wondrous. Almost feels like something you'd traverse in Dark Souls lol.
Hey! I'm a recent subscriber and just wanted to say that I've been really enjoying these level analysis videos. I'm excited for whatever you cover next!
7:20 Well jeez, i'll try my best but i can't guarantee i won't fall into a bottomless pit and then teleport my corpse in front of you afterwards. By the way, this video is amazing so far, i love the presentation.
little known fact, one tiem when playing vanilla sonic 06 i waited long enough in the end of the sonic section before going into the mach speed segment and silver actually showed up and i got to play as him
To me, Kingdom Valley in 06 is exactly what I want in a Sonic level. That first section with Sonic is the best level design in in any Sonic game (if you can tolerate the controls, thankfully my pain tolerance is super high, so I love it). But while that’s the best level design, I never feel more alive than on the last section. The look of the dark clouds and deep blue water makes this place feel dangerous, like you must be a master to get past this section, but you can always see the rainbow in the distance, the spark of hope that will guide you through this place. The music swelling as you take off is incredible, and it never slows down. The vibes from this stage are immaculate. This section made it feel like the climax of the game is here. You need to get to the egg carrier in order to save everyone, so you need to move. You get past the crumbling castle, but the final obstacle in your way is water, Sonics weakness. So what does he do? HE RUNS ON IT SIDEWAYS, JESUS STYLE! Even though the Mach speed sections are so stressful, the story, music, and vibes push you forward to the finish. Even knowing Sonic and Silver fail after this, it makes you feel as though maybe there was still a chance. If you light dashed a little more to keep moving at full speed, maybe you could’ve made it in time, which encourages better runs of the stage. While I love Shadow Generations, the water section in that game had no chance against the original. I love 06 Kingdom Valley so much, and thanks to P06, I can say, without a doubt, that this is my favorite video game level ever.
Very well written, I like how you put it. Especially with the rainbow. They really should've brought that back in Generations AGHH. But I agree, the mach speed captures the spectacle much more in 06.
Loved the little excerpt at the beginning there detailing your work flow and thought process for these videos. Honoring levels by playing and discussing them in which they were originally meant to be played, and on the hardware they shipped on, is certainly something that I appreciate, and wanted to shout it out! Excellent video man! And I was there in the trenches alongside you with 06 as that bright-eyed 8-9 year old. You have my sympathies, soldier.
A, fellow child of 06, I am so sorry (maybe you loved it i got no clue lol). But THANK YOU! I'm gonna try and do my best to stick with it. It might be tough for the classic era, but anything 6th gen on, I think I can handle / source.
Something I really like in Generations is that they actually kept not just the enemy behavior, but ALL OF THE ENEMY BEHAVIOR. In 06 some enemies had multiple attacks, for example Egg Gunners (One of the main enemies in the game) can both shoot you with small rockets and rapid bullets, which is something basically every other game in the Sonic series doesn't do, not Sonic 1, 2, 3, CD, Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, Unleashed, Colours, Generations, Lost World or Forces. Because most of the time you either don't see or barely see what enemies do because they die in a few seconds, but Shadow Generations actually has the enemies still do EVERYTHING they can. You won't see if you just play normally, but if you stop holding boost or spamming Homing Attacks then they can and will do all they can. In general also a huge upgrade over the enemies in Generations because this time they attack quite a lot faster. Even the enemies from Forces (A game infamous for enemies that barely do anything) attack faster both in Shadow Generations and even Forces itself. Then you also need to take into account that even when enemies in the original Generations do attack it's basically nothing. For example did you know that in Sky Sanctuary Act 2 you quite literally can't be hit by the Eggrobos in the 3D parts as long as you just stay completely still? Shadow Generations just does such a good job at adapting the older enemies because they not only work basically the exact same as the originals but they attack at about the same pace too, making them a potential threat if you're in an enclosed space or run out of boost. I just really like looking at enemy behaviors so sorry if this seems like a lot.
There's actually another counterpart of that wind segment in the end of the world. For those who don't know, for the final section of End of the World, you get to play as Shadow through the wind segment with normal gameplay, starting from the 1st collapsing bridge but now you got these black & red holes popping up to slow you down or straight up murder you.
I really like how the beginning of Shadow Generations Kingdom Valley sorta pays tribute to the TGS version. In that build the initial wind rail is replaced with a downward sloping bridge leading into a spring onto the platform with the first checkpoint. It's not 1-to-1 but the initial downward slope in Shadow Gens feels a bit too similar to be a coincidence.
I didn’t not realize how much you would have to cover for a comparison for a Sonic 06 level. Thank god there isn’t any more 06 levels in generations!….wait.
When it comes to my experience of Sonic 06, I remember watching one of my cousins and one of my older sisters who’s 10 years older than me play battle mode. I don’t remember playing it myself, as I don’t think 5 year old was that interested in Sonic yet (and I was excited to see him in smash brawl so something as changed within 2 years). So my experience with the regular game has been limited, and will probably stay limited in the future. I have played Project 06 when I got my steam deck a couple of years back, and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. The control changes make the experience really fun and I think it to showcase what Sonic Team was cooking game-design-wise before it was taken out of the oven way too early. It’s also tied with Frontiers with having one of my favorite playable Amys in a Sonic game, she’s so good yet only utilized only for 1 level and a test room (+ mods).
This was an amazing video and some of my favorite sonic videos in gemeral. I'm really exited for your video on p-06 when ever that happends Also if you wanna see something cool in p-06 when you're at shadows huver craft section, when you go in the tunel go to the second closed gate look inside and wait like 2 seconds, i think you'll like it :]
The first time I played it in Shadow Generations I was happy and laughing the whole time. It is easily my favorite ,I love act 2 as well but I need to play the rest to decide which is my favorite
33 minutes in and already enjoying 2D spectacles also yes I will wait patiently for the Project 06 video. Also a request : can you make a video where you list all your favorite Sonic songs
A hour long video about a sonic level from 06 nice! First Great Job man! i am sure re playing kingdom valley 06 must been a real chore and even more with silver (love the guy but MAN is he trash to play at least in 06 wink wink). Second I was a little surprised that spear gliding didn´t get a mention especially when "THE SIGHT" arrives you can skip much of it and i think the view is gorgeous, sadly if you do that you don´t get to break two windows, but aside of that spear gliding seems to make the time attack experience way fun in my opinion And third i see you focus more in 3d Sonic games but i think a little detour to 2d sonic games would be pretty cool for example you can go through what i like to call "The Death Egg Assault" in sonic 3&K in Launch Base you found out that the Death Egg is not destroyed and try to stop the "Launch" fround there you go through a couple zones and when you reach Lava Reef you can see the Death Egg in the background and as you go through Lava Reef you get closer until re actives and you need to reach it through Sky Sactuary and then you reach the Death Egg. i think is pretty awesome how tells that story without a single word. Other idea would be comparing all the versiones of the classic Green Hill Zone. Hope you have a great day and if you fond any spelling mistakes or wording you found werid please tell! English is not my native language
Understood everything, don't sweat it! I only learned about the spear gliding way later, but it's VERY good for that big wind grinding section, with how far it can take you. I haven't implemented that move much in my runs so I'll have to try that. Also I do plan on doing some Classic games as well, comparisons with Generations (or Mania?) could be very fun there. I think the "Death Egg Assault" is a very important aspect of Sonic 3 (+ Knuckles) in the fact that the environments tell the story throughout that game. You can really FEEL Eggman's advancement through Angel Island as he starts attacking more and more as you get closer to the end. Combined with the fact that Sonic 3 finally gives us some "cutscenes" I think that game was the first big step in Sonic storytelling WITHOUT saying a single piece of dialogue. Incredible stuff. Anyways thanks for the comment and have a great day too!
I feel like these videos have been getting better and better. I'm only still early on into it but from all the doodled skits so far it feels like the quality is gonna be consistent. Will edit this once I finish
I enjoyed playing 06 as a kid with an asterisk. The game was a pain we all know this. But after unlocking all the gems with Sonic, some of the most fun I had in any Sonic game was seeing how hard I could break it with the gems. Sky blue especially.
One thing worth pointing out is that Kingdom Valley Act 2, specifically the double tower climb at the end, takes a lot of level design from Sonic Colors, mostly Planet Wisp and bits of Sweet Mountain
Oh and as a side addon to the last comment where I mentioned Sonic 2 as your favorite Sonic games, Mystic Caves is just a SUPER underrated level! I'm not sure if I 100% agree it is the best in the whole game but seeing it get that love gave me a smile regardless. (Don't miss Hidden Palace in newer versions either, not to be confused with the Sonic 3&K more cutscene like level of the same name; it's a pretty good extra single Act!)
I know there isn’t much to discuss with it but I’d love a comparison of Sunset Heights because making fun of Sonic Forces is never not funny. Also there is just so many cool elements in the Shadow Generations to dissect.
Sonic 06 and Shadow The Hedgehog are two really unique games for me because I absolutely loved them as a kid and I can't go back to them and remotely experience what I experienced at the time. Like, gaming in the 2000s outside of the most AAA mainstream hype games was jank. You were naturally used to jank if you were someone who played a lot of games, adjusting to jank and not really noticing it the way you do today was the norm. And as a kid, you just didn't have the sort of online education in recognizing and hating jank, you just went "that's how this game works" and learned how it worked. I didn't think much of Sonic 06 load times, there were plenty of games with long load times. It wasn't that special. So playing them, the jank never really hit me the same way. The backlash at the time came from older generations of fans. But like, going back? Holy jank. Yeah, I feel it now and now it's like meh. But for me, Sonic 06 was nothing but fond memories. Because I was ten, so like, yeah, I didn't know you aren't supposed to enjoy it or get used to it. And before that, same with Shadow.
I think another big aspect is there's just a TON of games coming out these days so criticisms can become much more harsh in terms of what you want to spend your time with. Another factor being that when we were kids, we weren't "buying" many games, so anything we got, we learned to love no matter what. I was very "good-faith" about games back then because I wanted to love anything I was able to get my hands on. Even if Sonic 06 shattered a lot of that, it thankfully never came through influence of the internet. That was all just pure-honest, kid-rage lol. But like I said, I was all emotions back then. These days it's nice to hit these things with a fresh perspective, and I'm glad I did that again with 06.
tbh, I like that Act 1 of Kingdom Valley doesn't start with the castle on the background as the camera turns around while you're in the eagle, instead just showing the mountains of the valley, especially opposing to how Act 2 ends by showing the castle in the mountains as you mentioned It would be a nice start, I can definetly agree with that, however, I like how the level starts with no castle in sight, and as you progress you get more and MORE CASTLE!!!!!! you start in the valleys, with a few bridges and a wall, then you slowly see more and more towers, more of the castle walls and geometry, and that continues in Act 2 as well, you start seeing the mountains, then it transitions into the walls, and then you get INSIDE of the castle, and you end climbing both towers and seeing the castle in the mountains, basically, you start with no castle in Act 1 and finish going through so much castle that you even enter it in Act 2 Plus, I like the beauty of the castless valley on the background, not because of the gray rocky mountains, if it was just that it would be really boring, I agree, but since the mountains have a good patch of grass on the top, with many trees in sight, it makes up for such a pretty scenary, seeing the natural beauty of Kingdom Valley without all those castles built, passing through the valley above the clouds as you see it And, it's cool that you mentioned the Clock Tower Climb in this video, even comparing it to the 2 Tower Climb in Kingdom Valley, because I also thought about another climb in Shadow Gens and immediatly remembered of your Rooftop Run video, when I was playing Shadow Generations once, in Chaos Island Act 1, I saw the Volcano Climb at the end of the stage as something pretty simillar to the Clock Tower, the level makes sure to remind you that the volcano is an important aspect of Chaos Island, just like the clock tower, it is on the Hub World mini-version of the stage, and inside of the level itself, as you grind up a rail while you're going through some canyons in Chaos Island, you see the Volcano errupting on the background, in the distance, as the camera focuses on that, showing the volcano on the right and Shadow grinding up on the left, then, in the final section of the stage, as you go through the canyon filled with lava, you get springed up, as the camera turns upwards, showing you're in the base of the volcano, you then climb it and get to the end of the level almost on the top of it, it's a nice section! I think it's also cool that, unlike the Rooftop Run clock, where you DO climb in Unleashed and then in Sonic Gens, the Volcano in Chaos Island is never important to that degree in Frontiers, you go INSIDE of it, but never on top, it's actually impossible to climb that normally since Sonic slides down, but in Shadow Gens, you HAVE to climb it to end the stage, it is a nice change of pace beetween both OG Rooftop Run, Gens Rooftop Run, OG Chaos Island and Gens Chaos Island
Ah, I see what you mean. It DOES feature that similar environmental progression from Act 2. Maybe I got too preoccupied with the camera instead of seeing the bigger picture, I like your perspective! And yeah, I felt that about the volcano in Chaos Island too, although I never made the clock tower connection. It is THE star of the level (probably why they chose that island more than any other, I wonder if they were looking for a good setpiece to base the level around? The lava even ends up affecting the course so it's pretty crafty). It's something I wanna touch more on when I eventually hit the Chaos Island comparison. Thanks for the comment!
@@Ajakes I'm curious for how a Chaos Island comparison would go, considering unlike all the others, it is a whole island, an entire open zone where you can go whatever you want, when you want. But hey, if they managed to transform an island into a stage, I'm sure you can pull it off and analyze the simillar sections beetween both! There are a lot of sections from the island made into setpieces and sections for an actual straightforward stage, I've seen some people before get excited and point out how some sections of the open zone were remade to fit a stage, mentioning how the underground ruins in Chaos Island where the Mass Produced Death Egg Robot destroys a hole is referenced through the end of Act 2, when Shadow is climbing the same spiral slope that you find at the end of those ruins in Frontiers, or how you pass through the valley full of hexagonal pillars that you find in the side of a mountain in Frontiers too Anyway, I loved this video, like the other you've already made, and I'm curious for seeing the next ones!
Hey, if you're still taking suggestions. Metal harbor is my favorite level from SA2 so if you could do a level analysis on it that would really make my day. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else already suggested this, and if that's true then that just strengthens my suggestion. Hope you have a great day though ☺
That might be my favorite level from ALL of SA2 as well, I was already planning on it when I decided to do individual levels, even if no one suggested it lol, so don't worry i gotcha covered 👍👍
Im only 18 and even ever since I was like 5 I’ve been hearing about 06 on the internet. I have a 360 so I decided to buy a copy on eBay and finally play it. Maybe it’s just me being so used to sonic jank at this point but I actually genuinely enjoyed the gameplay of 06. In my experience i didn’t have many problems glitches and the ones I managed to pull of like the one with blaze in wave ocean were on purpose. I kind of enjoy it when the gameplay slows down cause I can just vibe and listen to the music for a while.
Your editing and the amount of unique assets made for these videos is insane
Wow, thanks Mark! I appreciate that 🙏Also congrats on all your S ranks, I couldn't even manage Silver's lol
@@AjakesYeah that was pretty incredible, I’m trying to a rank heroes, colors and the rush games and even that alone is pretty difficult.
Also let me say, I really enjoy your editing style and pacing of your videos. The jokes last just the right amount of time, and the little animations really sell those bits well. Genuinely you deserve way more views and subscribers my dude. Keep up the fantastic work, I'm so glad I discovered your content!
Thank you! Always appreciate the comments dude! So excited to make more (including Windmill Isle... 👀)
Early on in the video, P06 is a remake, not a mod. They rebuilt the whole game while trying to stay true to ST's original vision
....it's still a modification of the original game. A remake is officially made.
@@keelanbarron928What would being officially made have to do with anything? So if Sega did the same thing, would it be a remake then? If that’s the case then P-06 is a remake since that isn’t really a meaningful distinction. From what I know, they didn’t actually do any mods on Sonic 2006 directly
@@keelanbarron928literally not true, fan remakes have long been a thing

I guess this is why my friends and family left me
I'm only 7 minutes into the video at the time of writing this comment but I just had to pause and say that your doodly editing style is so unique and makes my brain very happy

STAY THAT WAY I BEG.
Will do!
2 things:
1: i want you to know that i love this channel! I really adore these level deep-dives and i can already tell ill be rewatching this along with all your other stuff a LOT over the upcoming years lol
and 2: dude you are going to LOVE project 06
Wow, thank you! And dude, I am so hyped to finally try that thing and see like all of my hopes and dreams in action
I love how cartoonishly mad shadow is and how silver is just ok.
Shadow's got a lot on his mind. Silver on the other hand... he's in good vibes city...
I found your channel through the Rooftop Run video and I love your level analysis and the animations you do.
I discovered new things through these videos, and now I pay more attention to such things :)
I look forward to future level analysis :D
My suggestion would be Final Rush from Sonic Adventure 2.
The Shadow slamming into walls bit was so good, I loveee little stuff like that in videos - it just screams "I had fun making this video" and you can just tell
As for the analysis, it was as fun as always!

Dude, the amount of care you put into this video is super impressive, legitimately captivating until the end. That was awesome
Thanks man! I appreciate the coveted FULL watch lol (these days, that takes effort)
I love how Shadow Gens' version of the stage still seems to be splitted into sections, not only that but the same sections as the original game, in the same order, you start in Wind, above the clouds, with the large valley/hallway/"canyon" that has multiple paths on it, then you go to Riverside as you enter the first Doom Surf section, a small closed valley with castle towers on it, exit on Castle, you go through tons of giant castle towers and castle walls, the towers are huge, and sure make their presence notable there, although they don't fall in Shadow Gens like they do in the original, and the Mach Speed is the last one, ending the stage, taking place beetween 2 giant waves on both sides
It's also interesting how clever they got by kiiiinda removing the "gimmicky" part of the first 2 sections that don't fit Shadow Gens, instead of the Glider in Wind (that they could somehow replace with the Doom Wing I feel, and you can even make an argument about how using the Doom Wing would be the same as crossing that section with the Hovercraft, intentional reference or not lol), he instead runs through the section like Sonic does, and it does still make sense for Shadow, after all, in End of the World, the last stage of 06 prior to Solaris, you play as every character (excluding Blaze and Sonic since they're both ded), in a single section of a random stage from the game, Rouge goes through a portion of Wave Ocean's first Sonic section/second Shadow section, Amy goes through a portion of the second section of White Acropolis, Silver goes through a portion of the outside section of Dusty Desert, etc. And Shadow, goes exactly through the 1st section of Kingdom Valley, Wind, but actually running, through Sonic's section
And in the second section in Shadow Gens, they removed what Silver and Rouge could do, instead just focusing on the last section of Shadow, where he uses the Hovercraft to cross the lake, and transformed that into the Doom Surfing section
Comment is long, but I want to say what I'll say, so I'll make it brief: I'm excited and curious to see your comments, feedback and opinions on P-06 once you give it a try, seeing your comments about 06, talking about things that were upgraded, tweaked or just changed in P-06 made me quite excited for you to see the difference of Night and Day that game made to 06
I'm just as excited to try P-06, and "eat my words" in a sense lol.
@@Ajakes When I first saw the Doom Wing, and they revealed that you could play with it on the levels, I immediatly thought about it being a replacement for both the Hovercraft in Sonic 06 and the Black Hawks from Shadow 05, since both have the same purpose, make Shadow fly across sections
It's a reason why I wish a level from Shadow 05 (specifically Sky Troops since you have the section where you get into a thunderstorm and have to fly to an island to another) in Shadow Gens, I'm okay with the fact that it didn't happend, at least it still serves to reference the hovercraft on 06
And... a recommendation maybe I'd make, is for you to watch the video about 100 facts about Project 06 at some point, maybe after you beat all the stages or make 100% if you decide to do so, I think there are some facts that are absolutely cool, and the game has many secrets that should be known, ChaosX, the creator of P-06 even makes a cameo on the video and made a fact check on it
Amazing! I love these videos and I loved Shadow Gens' Kingdom Valley, I'm very excited to see what you got for these, especially because of the lenght, this will be awesome
(Also mandatory request for the next Unleashed level to be Jungle Joyride)
Edit: damn, I guess I'll wait for the Jungle Joyride one XD, good stuff makes you wait, so I'm in no rush, I love these videos, I'll watch you cover anything you put here!
Trust me, I'm a Jungle Joyrider all the way through, which is why I wanna give that level a bit of a lead up. IT WILL GET ITS DUE. It has to. It's so goddamn good. But thanks for watching! (and for being patient lol)

What timing! People have also been discussing 06 a ton after the creators mentioned wanting to remake it. Thanks for the comment!

The download itself is of google drive which can be found under in the description of the official youtube announcement for the silver campaign's release on ChoasX's channel (ChaosX is the lead of the whole project). ruclips.net/video/SCD5aQLlCD4/видео.html

@@AjakesThe main thing i'm curious about is just your reaction to the game, esp with your specific experience with the original 06.
Sorry for the long comment, there is so much more I would like to say, maybe later if I have the motivation to tap for 4 hours on my phone😂
So excited for the next analysis from Unleashed, really looking forward to what you have in store next, no matter the level because I know its gonna be oozing quality!
Once again thank you for what you are doing and greetings from France friend!❤
(This is by far the longest comment I have ever typed😂)
Watched the full video, this pleases my autism, thank you so much. If you start playing P-06 make sure to read the manual and check the option/extra menus!! ❤️❤️
Will do, thanks for watching!
I know barely anything about Forces so it would be a treat for me
I think a comparison of Speed Highway could be a fun video with how far apart and different Adventure and Generations are from each other
That WOULD be a fun comparison, wouldn't it...
AYE FROG FOREST MENTIONED! YOU REMEMBERED! Excited for this video
Never forget the frog forest
Thanks for finishing! Hope to make more of these so stay tuned!
Another banger analysis. I never realized how much level sonic had out of the 3.
Id love to just see a bare minimum analysis of just how much of each section each character has like the map layout
It has to be said: Ajakes is hilarious. The level analysis was amazing, but the drawing and the little jokes are just top tier.
Appreciate it!
Theres only one man I know who can make an hour long video comparing two of the same stage but different and completely entertaining me along the way, i LOVE kingdom valley btw; S RANK STAGE
I think the amount of comments is more powerful than views. Glad to be subbed bro
incredible video, your editing is so clean and concise, i especially like how you handled the route explanation visually
kingdom valley, hell 06 in general got it really good in shadow gens, you can tell the developers really wanted to revisit some of 06's ideas and go all out with it, almost as a way to make the game be seen in a better light
I think it would be a good idea, if once youve gone through most of your "Original vs X Shadow" comparison vids you did the same with project 06
I think this format has alot more life in it
Thanks again Adam for making my day :)
Def planning on it, consider this video a "Part 1" in that regard. Excited to make more episodes, def digging the format! (gives me such an excuse to DRAW)
thx 4 watchin :)
Your video is nostalgic. The art you make reminds me of those early youtube sonic fan animations.
I will say, i enjoy immensely these kinds of comparisons and id hope you keep making more.
I lived and breathed those early sonic animations, so that comparison means a LOT, thanks dude
6:32 love these cute animations
This was an absolute welcome treat to see, I thought it was taking a bit longer than I expected but WOW I can see why. Kingdom Valley might be one of my favourite levels in Shadow Generations, second only to Chaos Island.
Also, I noticed that little tease of Skyscraper Scamper near the beginning. If that turns out to be the next video I'm gonna be so happy!
If not, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, these level design analysis videos are a blast!
You're catching on quick... (thanks for the comment!)
14:50 how the hell is it that 15 years later i'm learning somethign i never knew about sonic 06 when i played this game nonstop
I think you shouldve made the video longer by talking about Shadow's section of End of the World 👍
He is the character that gets Kingdom Valley during it!
Thanks dude, stay tuned!
14:05 "18 years later" , yeah, let that sink in.
👴
59:03
I love the nod
You give to normal 06 fans
While I’ve never played it it’s nice to see someone online who genuinely puts care and effort into understanding other arguments instead of demonising Its argument makers.
I cannot believe the level I suggested made it in to thexintro. Hope it gets it's own video. Stay blessed dude. You are amazing
It was the one of the most "out of left field" picks, so I had to shout it out lol
I love this intro so much. Also dude this video is edited so well!! Good job!!!
Thank you!
Its cool how project 06 added the cut cutscenes that start sonics level talking with silver. The restored dialogue was great
If I didn't have a day ahead of myself, I'd sit here and watch one hour of peak right now, but alas employment calls...
When I come back to this I'll make a second comment so consider this my sparce impressions, starting with:
Dude holy fuck, you're GOOD.
That's very kind to hear, thanks!
Called it. Cant wait for the night palace video
Hey! I'm a recent subscriber and just wanted to say that I've been really enjoying these level analysis videos. I'm excited for whatever you cover next!
Thanks for subscribing!
That thumbnail tho, it makes shadow gens look like its forces
lol I was trying to put electricity around his arrow so it looked like his path was BIG and POWERFUL
7:20 Well jeez, i'll try my best but i can't guarantee i won't fall into a bottomless pit and then teleport my corpse in front of you afterwards.
By the way, this video is amazing so far, i love the presentation.
The quality of ur content is insane bro
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
little known fact, one tiem when playing vanilla sonic 06 i waited long enough in the end of the sonic section before going into the mach speed segment and silver actually showed up and i got to play as him
It's cause he's from the future, he knew you were waiting too long
To me, Kingdom Valley in 06 is exactly what I want in a Sonic level.
Great video btw.
Very well written, I like how you put it. Especially with the rainbow. They really should've brought that back in Generations AGHH. But I agree, the mach speed captures the spectacle much more in 06.
Wow, I’ve never seen your content before but you are one of the best sonictubers I’ve seen! I hope your channel keeps growing and I loved your video!
That's very kind, thank you!
How i love the one hour kingdom valleys analylis
never played 06 but Kingdom Valley is my favourite level in Sonic x Shadow Generations. it's nice to see all the references broken down
Why are the animation segments so funny
LOVING this video so far, but before I make a real comment
I’ve been DYING laughing at 16:12 bro just straight up misses the rail entirely😭
I screamed when that happened, was so happy I captured it lol
@ it was so casually put in the video too I love it lol
Thank god there isn’t any more 06 levels in generations!….wait.
t-that level was erased from the timeline, r-right?!
@ *Crisis City Theme starts playing*
Oh neato, I'd love to see what they tried with Amy in P-06. Also nice to hear that it runs well on the Steam Deck! That's awesome
This was an amazing video and some of my favorite sonic videos in gemeral. I'm really exited for your video on p-06 when ever that happends
Also if you wanna see something cool in p-06 when you're at shadows huver craft section, when you go in the tunel go to the second closed gate look inside and wait like 2 seconds, i think you'll like it :]
OoooOoooo, will do. (if i get shot im blaming u)
@@Ajakesi'll pay for the hospital bill if something happends
The first time I played it in Shadow Generations I was happy and laughing the whole time. It is easily my favorite ,I love act 2 as well but I need to play the rest to decide which is my favorite
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO. I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE ROOFTOP RUN ONE! HELL YEAH
YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
33 minutes in and already enjoying 2D spectacles also yes I will wait patiently for the Project 06 video.
Also a request : can you make a video where you list all your favorite Sonic songs
That could be pretty easy to put out in between vids. If there's an appetite for it, I'd def be down! (I just don't know much about music lol)
@@Ajakes well you could put in some memories you've experienced when listening to that set song even if it's 06 bad😒😒
A hour long video about a sonic level from 06 nice! First Great Job man! i am sure re playing kingdom valley 06 must been a real chore and even more with silver (love the guy but MAN is he trash to play at least in 06 wink wink).
Second I was a little surprised that spear gliding didn´t get a mention especially when "THE SIGHT" arrives you can skip much of it and i think the view is gorgeous, sadly if you do that you don´t get to break two windows, but aside of that spear gliding seems to make the time attack experience way fun in my opinion
And third i see you focus more in 3d Sonic games but i think a little detour to 2d sonic games would be pretty cool for example you can go through what i like to call "The Death Egg Assault" in sonic 3&K in Launch Base you found out that the Death Egg is not destroyed and try to stop the "Launch" fround there you go through a couple zones and when you reach Lava Reef you can see the Death Egg in the background and as you go through Lava Reef you get closer until re actives and you need to reach it through Sky Sactuary and then you reach the Death Egg. i think is pretty awesome how tells that story without a single word.
Will edit this once I finish
great analysis as always adam, I love you
i love u too bro
God your videos are awesome, keep it up!!!
Please continue with these types of videos i move them so much 👍
I enjoyed playing 06 as a kid with an asterisk. The game was a pain we all know this. But after unlocking all the gems with Sonic, some of the most fun I had in any Sonic game was seeing how hard I could break it with the gems. Sky blue especially.
I really should've use those more as a kid... (hell, even in THIS video)
That BetterHelp joke was terrifying lol
should've put a trigger warning
The transitions comment was very funny as a teacher lol
One thing worth pointing out is that Kingdom Valley Act 2, specifically the double tower climb at the end, takes a lot of level design from Sonic Colors, mostly Planet Wisp and bits of Sweet Mountain
Still gotta play that one, I'll be on the lookout
@ oh, you’ve never played Colors? It’s a pretty fun game, it’s smaller and shorter but I’d say it’s short and sweet
Shadow Generations' Kingdom Valley is addicting to play.
easy subscribe. blew through this whole video in one sitting like it was nothing
FINALLY LEVEL ANALYSIS!!!!!
I LOVE THE LITTLE DOODLES YOU MADE 🦔
I know there isn’t much to discuss with it but I’d love a comparison of Sunset Heights because making fun of Sonic Forces is never not funny. Also there is just so many cool elements in the Shadow Generations to dissect.
5:53 3 Camp pains is cray Zee work
we kan do it
Sonic 06 and Shadow The Hedgehog are two really unique games for me because I absolutely loved them as a kid and I can't go back to them and remotely experience what I experienced at the time.
I was watching this video and it gave me the motivation to play sonic 06, i just finished the shadow story soooo..
THANKS??
tbh, I like that Act 1 of Kingdom Valley doesn't start with the castle on the background as the camera turns around while you're in the eagle, instead just showing the mountains of the valley, especially opposing to how Act 2 ends by showing the castle in the mountains as you mentioned
It would be a nice start, I can definetly agree with that, however, I like how the level starts with no castle in sight, and as you progress you get more and MORE CASTLE!!!!!! you start in the valleys, with a few bridges and a wall, then you slowly see more and more towers, more of the castle walls and geometry, and that continues in Act 2 as well, you start seeing the mountains, then it transitions into the walls, and then you get INSIDE of the castle, and you end climbing both towers and seeing the castle in the mountains, basically, you start with no castle in Act 1 and finish going through so much castle that you even enter it in Act 2
Plus, I like the beauty of the castless valley on the background, not because of the gray rocky mountains, if it was just that it would be really boring, I agree, but since the mountains have a good patch of grass on the top, with many trees in sight, it makes up for such a pretty scenary, seeing the natural beauty of Kingdom Valley without all those castles built, passing through the valley above the clouds as you see it
And, it's cool that you mentioned the Clock Tower Climb in this video, even comparing it to the 2 Tower Climb in Kingdom Valley, because I also thought about another climb in Shadow Gens and immediatly remembered of your Rooftop Run video, when I was playing Shadow Generations once, in Chaos Island Act 1, I saw the Volcano Climb at the end of the stage as something pretty simillar to the Clock Tower, the level makes sure to remind you that the volcano is an important aspect of Chaos Island, just like the clock tower, it is on the Hub World mini-version of the stage, and inside of the level itself, as you grind up a rail while you're going through some canyons in Chaos Island, you see the Volcano errupting on the background, in the distance, as the camera focuses on that, showing the volcano on the right and Shadow grinding up on the left, then, in the final section of the stage, as you go through the canyon filled with lava, you get springed up, as the camera turns upwards, showing you're in the base of the volcano, you then climb it and get to the end of the level almost on the top of it, it's a nice section!
There are a lot of sections from the island made into setpieces and sections for an actual straightforward stage, I've seen some people before get excited and point out how some sections of the open zone were remade to fit a stage, mentioning how the underground ruins in Chaos Island where the Mass Produced Death Egg Robot destroys a hole is referenced through the end of Act 2, when Shadow is climbing the same spiral slope that you find at the end of those ruins in Frontiers, or how you pass through the valley full of hexagonal pillars that you find in the side of a mountain in Frontiers too
Anyway, I loved this video, like the other you've already made, and I'm curious for seeing the next ones!
Nice. Thanks. Can't wait for that video...but i will :)
