Painter: Martin Grey
Hey Martin!Thank you for sharing. I also purchased my first sandblasting machine under your sharing. But now there is a problem, when I use nut shell abrasive to sandblast, there will be many pits on the carbon fiber surface and sometimes it will break through the thinner places. Is this normal? And how did you solve it?
Yes you will destroy carbon fibers with your blasting machine and the nut shells you use. That's why I do it with a different method which is internal information that will be not published.
looks like he uses dry ice
@@ETOE do you still recommend cherry pits?
Despite many many years working on aircraft with carbon composite(and other exotic composites) I still do not like the look of most bare carbon fiber lay ups. Now after you get done painting one Martin, it is a WHOLE other story! Too this day, your Cannondale Jekyll paint job is still my favorite one you've ever done . I only wish I had had the opportunity to use your skills, but you have inspired me to paint two of my own bikes.👍
Cannondale Jekyll I absolutely agree with the paint job. The idea of a seam mark is a great idea.
Ich Strippe auch gerade meinen Carbon E-Bike Rahmen. Allerdings mit Messer..... den Nächsten werde ich eventuell zu Dir einsenden ;)
Bizim burda yok böyle güzel kadrolar bana birtane yollarmısın
Do u use Glass Pearls? How much PSI?
Hi Martin,
what can you tell about paint removing liquids - can they be used on carbon or aluminium frames?
Certainly alot easier than wet and dry Martin
True
You too huh? I regret it already
what type of sand do you use?
Are You from Germany?
What are you using for sand? I don't think it's ouartz. I'll find out and open Etoe 2 in front of you. 😁
No it's corundum 😁
Hey! How much weighs this kind of paint on
frame? I mean from naked carbon to full color?
20 to 80 gram
Sorry if the answer is obvious, but what is that white layer beneath the paint. It looks so thick! Is it a high build base coat or something? thanks
It's primer.
What medium do you recommend? I tried to find cherry put as referenced in your last carbon stripping video and have had no luck.
@@ETOE I meant to say cherry pit but your response was hilarious nonetheless 😂
Hey Martín,
Great video. Hope you are getting stronger and healthy.
Question: How many bars do you use to operate this media blasting ?
Thanks. It's internal information I'm not allowed to publish.
could you make a tutorial on how to paint ,at home, a frame in a topography style? i feel like it would look awesome.
I'll do more tutorials in future videos.
Maybe aquablast would be even better?
Hey Martin! Could you try cutting carbon fabric with your diod lasercutter? I haven't found any good video on cutting raw carbon fiber with diod laser instead of scissors
Doesn't work.
@@ETOE Burns occur in the cut areas and the sensitivity disappears.
What media are you using? Walnut shells? What is the pressure you are running? and what size is that cabinet?
@@ETOE ah, baby teeth, doesn't damage carbon. Smart!
@@ETOENot the most helpful answer, but I like it! 😂
Would it speed it up if you took the lacquer off 1st with Wet Sandra? (or do you alerady crack the top layer with Sandpaper 1st)?
No it would take much longer.
No ones painted lacquer in 40 years
@@janeblogs324 You didn't say much, but whatever it was was ineligible. Unless you're being pedantic and going to come out with a clear coat reference instead of Lacquer. So hey, explain or maybe just show yourself to be a dick.
Oh Gott wie gerne ich mein Megatower in raw Carbon (nur klarlack udn decals) sehen würde.
This service can be booked at ETOE Designs
Danke Schoen 👍🚴♂️
Which blasting media do you use? Soda?
He did a video about. Please check it out =)
Why not wet blast with glass bead?
No it destroys the carbon.
@@ETOE Was curious if that was the case, I've blasted plastics like this with success so thought maybe it would work with CF. Keep up the beautiful work :-)
What are people using to degrease carbon for painting?
I have seen people linking the frame to get them clean.
@@ETOE what's linking?
@@trikewars I mean licking 😋
@@ETOE Martin, this doesn't help at all 😁
@@trikewars I know and that's great 🙂
do you have a video on painting with spray cans and what brand works best?
Yes more than 50 videos on my channel.
This video makes no sense to me. I dont get the idea of owning carbon frame and being cheap shit trying to paint it themselves. Would you want to paint yourselves very explensive sport car or rather give it to a pro?
I painted my cars myself. Please check this video: ruclips.net/video/Eg_0LQPh2sQ/видео.html
bahahahahhaaha how do you think people become professional painters... do you think they are born that way? bahahhahahaa
You should look at his paintjobs. The guy is a pro.
Even if he wasn't, creating something has many benefits regardless of whether someone is proficient or innept.
We should all aspire to create tbh.
