I love your rules. Thank you for being honest and not lying and making it look easy. You've convinced me not to paint my carbon car part, and probably saved me from destroying it. Thank you very much!
I have done this once on an old road bike frame. I can confirm that it's an enormous shitload of work. I did succeed eventually only to fuck up the paint job afterwards. I then gave it to a professional paint shop who had to sand it down all over again and put on a proper paint job. The bike is now back on the road and looks beautiful. I gave it to a friend of mine. But I'm not sure I'm ever going to do this again.
@Dangerholm What kind of wax do you mean? Can you post a link? Any recommendations? What do you think about clearcoat, does it last or is it just becoming briddle after time?
the result looks great but I can imagine this took a while! I scraped my enve fork and wondering if I should take it back to raw, they have some paint and matte lacquer
Great video man, thanks. I have an old cervelo soloist road frame that I used to race that I'm thinking about stripping and painting this summer. I'd be interested in any more videos like this, perhaps how you applied the decals to your Scott RC or how you apply the wax/clear coat? Anyway, I appreciate the ethos, approach and video production, cheers from Scotland!
My favorite is Morakniv Robust, it has a very thick blade that causes much less vibration than most other knifes. Other than that it comes down a lot to just preference and what you have available, once you start working you'll get a feel for what works best for you.
Been following your inspirational builds for a while. Great video mate, very true it’s a s^|t load of work but it’s the end finish and dropping some weight we want.
Nice! Is the method similar for an aluminum framed bike? I’ve always wanted to do a custom paint job on my old hardtail but have never had a clue how to do it properly so I just left it. I look forward to more of your videos!
For aluminium bikes you should use paint stripper. Doesn´t ruin your frame and it is infinitely much more easy. (Aluminium does not get hurt, while resin does)
Thanks man ! You confirm me the good way i does To remove the paint of my carbon frame. And don't forget, tommy iomi is your friend ! 🤟 ps: i love all your albums behind you.
It never really did, but they made them for their team bikes used by Scott Velosolutions from 2016 and onwards. Looking forward to know more about the new Gambler the Factory team is riding this year though! Sorry for the late reply btw!
Uhh, for me it's a don't do it. It looks like 100 hours of work to do it right. I watch 14 minutes and saved a bike, couple of hours and nerves :D . Thak you!
I wanted to do this on my S-works Venge, and I stopped considering this idea at the first rule, and the second, and the third. So I guess I won't do it. Thank you, sincerely!
some times you have to take the advise presented to you. This man said 3 times DONT DO IT. And I will listen. All you had to say that "you may damage your frame" I wouldnt do anything to hurt my baby!
take his advice seriously: DON'T DO IT! never sand down to raw carbon! you will remove carbon material, especially on edges you will in no time sand through whole layers of carbon. I tried it. Don't waste your time and destroy your frame
just got a used 2013 spark rc to do this, not looking forward to it, 100+ hours of sweatshop work but man that shiny carbon looks awesome and lightweight! only concern is the mask, might have to wait till this covid 19 thing is over.
I guess you clearly are clueless when it comes to carbon. Unles you want delamination and a breakdown of the strength of the frame due to the properties of the stripper destroying the epoxy on the carbon go right ahead...
Wouldn't scraping the fiber ruin the integrity of the material and make it dangerous to ride? I've seen people sand blast it with ease and a cleaner finish. You look like Jack Dorsey, the owner of Twitter. Haha!

Oh man everytime you scrape the Frame my Heart hurts a bit 😁

how about an angle grinder for the sanding?
I need to know if it’s safe to use an angle grinder with a paint scraper attachment on a carbon frame ASAP
Legend! I will never do this but enjoy watching people putting so much effort into their bikes
Can you tell what kind of wax do you apply as last step ?
Can't I just sand down the clear and primer it then paint ?
Great vid ... please also do a how to get your forks stripped and polished!
That's why I'm here. I'm assuming it's the same process.

YES! A bike mechanic who loves his metal 🤘
Wich kind of material you use for stickers ? Vinyl or others ?
Thanks a lot for all the tips!. May you please tell me what kind of wax you use to protect the raw carbon?.
Keep the inspiring vids coming!
And how can i strip and polish an aluminum frame? I am thinking about to buy a Spark 920 and I want to strip and polish the swingarm
Have it media blasted. 👌
Great video man, thanks.

damn wanna do this to my procaliber SL but I guess I don't got this skill lol
Same man, I got the Procaliber SL as well in stealth black and wanted to strip it down to raw carbon finish but I'm afraid to do it.
Interesting way of removing the paint. Not sure I'll be trying it anytime soon tho!
These rules are great.
Nice video 👍
Sick Egypt patch

Nice job 🔥😍
This is great thank you!
I’m seriously considering doing this to my bike
...Started doing this to my bike
Any regrets, mate?
@@goncalobaptista3042 No it actually ended up going really well
@@dookie3453 I'm thinking of doing that on a road bike frame
@@goncalobaptista3042 I would say go for it, if it goes terribly wrong you can always get it repainted
Jag är från Finland och jag kan inte tala swenska bra
tf I had no idea that the scott gambler had a carbon rear end lol
same

damnnn did you just said 3 times do it do it do it ?
Its painful
Are you and Peter Sagan related? Great video btw!
I wanted to do this on my S-works Venge, and I stopped considering this idea at the first rule, and the second, and the third. So I guess I won't do it. Thank you, sincerely!
So you wasted your time doubting, pitiful.
Super nice guy and tutorial
0:01 That hurt more than when my sister eats my food
Scraping is the best way.
Just make some without paint
Rule no. 4: DON'T DO IT - Cause you are almost certainly unable to create a better looking frame afterwards.
Question is. Can you do this to a car ?!
SuperBigAce is your car carbon
Good Video
Love your rules😂😂😂😂😂😂
some times you have to take the advise presented to you. This man said 3 times DONT DO IT. And I will listen. All you had to say that "you may damage your frame" I wouldnt do anything to hurt my baby!
it seems like you're scott sponsored.... why not just request an unpainted frame?? It would save you hours!? Regardless I love the content, thank you!
Plastic blasting is the fastest.

quick way - Vinywrap CARBON !!!
Etoe would have a heart attack! #etoe
I know that you would never touch one of my bikes!! Wow.... 🙄🙄🙄
Yeah.... I'm definitely not gonna paint my bike now 😆
For God's sake, don't do it mechanically because you'll also strip the carbon.
This is carried out with the help of chemistry.
Greetings
Lol. Great advice!
why didnt you just use paint stripper...
I guess you clearly are clueless when it comes to carbon. Unles you want delamination and a breakdown of the strength of the frame due to the properties of the stripper destroying the epoxy on the carbon go right ahead...
i'll stick with aluminium 😅
Definitely not ASMR!😣
One thing is sure ... Don't do it !!!
Not wearing a protective mask whilst sanding/scraping carbon? This guy is just asking for some serious lung issues lol.
WTH never never ever strip a carbon frame this way
Wouldn't scraping the fiber ruin the integrity of the material and make it dangerous to ride? I've seen people sand blast it with ease and a cleaner finish.
You look like Jack Dorsey, the owner of Twitter. Haha!
man, just re-inforces to me how shitty and time consuming carbon construction is.
Just buy a raw from china :D
Jesus Christ
Kartonfiber 🤪
