I laughed really hard at "Toa Taco, Toa Ga-Ga, and Toa Potato" being introduced. It's like if JelloApocalypse would make a "So this is basically BIONICLE" video.
True. I notice Bionicle got progressively-darker. The original years were more light-hearted, but the Metru Nui story expanded the universe so much and made things really complex while the villains got darker. People began to die, which had never happened in the Mata Nui saga. Then after 2006 things were EXTREMELY dark, with some of the most vile villains we've ever seen that were essentially sociopaths. Some were even comically-bad. Then 2009 was essentially our world for half the year, with a bunch of biological beings fighting a resource war and fighting over trade. 2010 was a complete letdown of a year but had it been given the story it deserved it would have probably fit in with the level of darkness of the Metru Nui saga. Maybe because Makuta is involved, and it's a traditional good vs. evil, mono a mono fight. 2003 was Takanuva vs. Makuta. 2004 Vakama vs. Makuta. Then in 2010 it would have been Mata Nui vs. Makuta.
That and after the League Of Six Kingdoms/Barraki's coup attempt, he started thinking that maybe Mata Nui wasn't the best guardian spirit. It wasn't a bad take, but then everything that came after it was Teridax jumping straight down the slippery slope to "I will become god and rule with an iron fist and cast off all morality to do so as it is a shackle preventing me from doing it."
That coca-cola gag is basically every sporting event Also, that bit where Vakama says Takanuva's destiny is clear, and then Takanuva immediately said "duty" bother me when I was a kid for some reason, so I'm glad you called that out! 😂
I mean at first glance it is confusing but If you think about it, Vakam sais "Destiny" because he thinks Takanuva WILL defeat Makuta but Takanuva is not so confident and sais "Duty" because he thinks it is what he MUST try to do and not what he WILL do. Or something like that.
The Toa just standing there at 11:56 as Jaller and Takua are attacked is literally what happens in the actual movie and it always bothered me. Like, they can see the Matoran are in trouble, they have more than enough time to get over there, and after defeating the other five Rahkshi, all six Toa against the last one shouldn't be a problem.
I spent years thinking the same thing until a few months ago when I listened to a reading of the novelisation on RUclips. Turns out there was extra happening in that scene that wasn't included in the film, and the battle actually happened differently. Firstly, the Toa didn't initially notice the Rahkshi advancing on the Matoran. But you do notice in the film that after the Rahkshi throws Jaller away, you see Pohatu and Gali jump behind it for a split second. The book explains something like the Toa were trying to hold the Rahkshi, while Takua talks to a dying Jaller. Then the Rahkshi breaks free from their grip just as Takua transforms into a Toa. Just like how earlier I made a point about the Bohrok-Kal breaching Ta-Koro's gates, I was gonna point this out too. But then I removed it once I found out what the book said. So instead I just made a joke about them choosing to stand there and watch, like how I made Mace Windu stand there and watch Palpatine strike down the other 3 Jedi. The 'Mask of Light' novel was the only one I hadn't read, so I never knew.
DisparateBroom I did think of Mustafar initially, it's usually my first reference for lava scenes. But that's already been done in a Mask of Light ytp, so I used The Incredibles instead. I think that the transition works a bit nicer because they're both animated sources, and both underground lava caves.
DisparateBroom There's also the fact that AlpacaHawk has already used this joke in Star Trek: Into Pengwings so it just wouldn't be as funny if it's repeated like that.

This YTP of my favorite childhood toy is exactly what I needed in these troubled times. I especially enjoyed the clean edits between movies. I do hope to see another Bonkle movie. Maybe the TF2 Scout will make a cameo.
Ugh this was so ridiculous. I love it. The opening was golden. The end was hilarious. The way you mesh together base components is awesome! Fits seamlessly.
This video has always been one of my favorite YTPs for just how good the jokes flow and how seamless the editing is, particularly in making the Toa incompetent, but 5:48 is probably my favorite. Everything in that gag just works so well.
