Update:
Bit of disappointing news, but I got copyright flagged during the No Mans Land scene of the movie and had to remove it after the fact. Such a shame too since it was the emotional high of the movie imo.
Thanks for watching everyone! I hope you enjoy this weeks video.

The point of Charlie's character wasn't to set him up as a Chekov's gun. The point was to show the impact war had on people and also Diana's compassion. She doesn't convince him to keep going after the village because she wants him to shoot people. She convinces him because she says "who will sing for us?" And she means it. It's not just her being nice.

“What the heck is Josstice league?” is the appropriate reaction
I blame WB for the Theatrical cut of JL. Joss Whedon was a fall guy or a patsy for a bad movie WB knew they were making.
I really think a lot of praise should be given to Allan Heinberg who was one of the writers and brought a lot of good ideas to the table. Sadly he wasn't a part of WW84 so...yeah.
Zach Snyder and his stunt coordinator also weren’t involved in WW84, you definitely notice it.
For sure Heinberg doesn’t get the credit he deserves for this film. Neither does Snyder, considering it was his story, his cast and his pre established mythology in the DCEU. In retrospect I think people realize it now considering the Jenkins/Geoff Johns trainwreck that was WW84.
@@aaronbaca765 I do think that Patty Jenkins is one of the key elements in the WW movies, I just think she needs the people from the first movie for the third, then we got gold. I think Patty Jenkins is a great director, but someone should have told her and Johns "No" for WW84. Also I don't want Johns to writ DC movies IMO, he's better with comics.

Fun Fact: Gal Gadot was pregnant during filming of this movie, which makes her performance even more impressive.
Wow, I had no idea.
That explains the "ooh, baby" reaction from her that drove Matt crazy. lol
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
Sort of, she was pregnant for whatever was shot in the reshoots but not for primary filming.
@@paulgibbons1366 ^this. Mostly, I think it was just the fight against Ares, which is why there are so many close-ups and not as much actual fight choreography.
They adjusted and cut out some of the costume & put a material over it, effectively giving her a green screen stomach.
"You're awfully close"
*The dog awfully close to Matt*
I personally understand the line: "A baby!" because I don't think she has actually seen one before. The Amazons are immortal so everyone was an adult as she was born/created, so she was the only child in the island.

Why does everyone’s house look the same? Looks like a stage and you guys just changed the furniture lol
I thought the same
Because they all live in those typical American houses made of wood?
That‘s one of the reasons I‘m glad not to live in the US.
@@Planet__3 where are you?
For those curious, a lot of medieval buildings were made of wood. Brick is mostly used now because of all the rain. It rots wood quickly, but it makes producing bricks easier and cheaper. The US has a wide variety of climates where wood structures aren't a problem. Just like people joke on areas of the US for shutting down with the slightest snow because there's no infrastructure to deal with something that happens once every few years. But the opposite has happened. Parts of Europe shut down because of a heat wave some years back. Their AC units aren't designed to operate at temperatures the lower states get regularly since they rarely get above a warm day.
Honestly, that's just how Florida houses often are
Matt's going to wish he could take back two hours of his life after seeing Josstice League.
And after watching WW84
Why would they even bother?
Yeah, especially since he's already seen the better version
@@Ledhead-dw8sd I'm actually curious to see what he thinks of it.
Don't understand why they are watching it to be honest
Based on 84, Zach had way more input on this movie than we realized
Zack did all the fight scenes in this movie as Executive producer. 84 sucked because he wasn't there.
Just wanted to throw this out there: Gal Gadot did most of the film (including stunts) while pregnant. And when they couldn't use her for the stunts, they used a stunt double, so her dedication to the film and the seamless use of a stunt double adds to the awesomeness for me
She was only pregnant during the additional photography for the movie. She shot WW's principle photography first then went on to film ZSJL during which time she found out she was pregnant then went back to shoot the additional scenes.

"The weapon that is strong enough to kill a God".
"Ah... Yeah... That's literally the name of the weapon Diana..."
omg the opening skit, literally LMAO out loud.
I hope you all do Shazam! I feel like Matt might actually like that one.
I enjoyed how everyone kept telling her that the World of Men doesn't deserve Diana. When Diana is with Steve she learns men aren't cruel heartless creatures. From Chief she learns Men can forgive each other for the most horrible things. Watching Charlie have a nightmare about losing his friends showed her they experience Fear and Guilt of Loss, through Sameer she learned Men love and appreciate the Arts even if culture at the time wont accept him. And when the final battle was looking bad for the good guys, she looked over and saw them holding each other in what could be their last moments, They all taught her about Love and all its different levels that bind us together.
That’s a great point. Solid comment.
Watching this film in the theater was so special and the No Man’s Land scene truly makes me emotional. I think that’s a collective opinion across the board from most women I’ve spoken to; that scene nearly made me cry seeing it for the first time and I wasn’t even able to articulate why.
Are we just going to look over the fact that Matt acknowledged Primes BACK TO THE FUTURE allusion...... Matt has come so far
Thank you Holden Hardman, you and the crew make youtube so great.
15:00 technically this is still snyder. Patty jenkins sure is the lead director of this film but zack snydef still had involvement with the story script and certain scenes. Watch the film enough you could tell which parts was patty directing and which was zacks.
The real Ares, is the Ares we met along the way
I love how Patty Jenkins had to basically craft a near perfect movie to get critics of DC movies to reluctantly admit “yeah... I guess it was kind of good” 😂
then she made 1984
Awww that'd too bad, we wanted to see the girls' reaction to this. I hope you have them on the next DCEU content.
I generally hate the dress-up montages, but this one fits. Diana isn't a character who's changing up her look. This is a warrior who *needs* to be clothed to blend in but finds nearly every stitch of clothing is geared towards fashion rather than function. This is one of the few examples of a montage that is necessary and appropriate.
I feel like, no matter how true and important the message is, a speech about love will never be taken seriously.
Lmao the husky wants to join the conversation so bad!!
I still feel they should have casted Lucy Lawless as Queen Hippolyta. Xena herself as the Queen of the Amazonians? hells yes.
No.
why?
Haven’t watched yet but damnit I was really looking forward to hearing what Jenna-Prime (Matt Jenna) thought of this movie!!
Omg I'm so psyched for this!!!! I've been patiently waiting
what I like about this movie is how different it is from Man of Steel in terms of showing how powerful the protagonist is, In Man of Steel it is clear from the beginning that Kal is not human, because even as a teenager he did things that a grown man would never have the strength to do
With Diana on the other hand, even though it's clear that she's stronger than a human being, the movie makes us think it's because she's an Amazon, but when Ares says she's half goddess, it all makes sense, She was clearly surprised at her own strength after training with Antiope, even before the awakening in Steve's death she was alredy more than a regular Amazon, She was so fast that she followed the trajectory of a bullet in the beach battle, Her healing factor was so fast that she healed from a bullet wound in a few hours, impressing even an Amazon healer, her fingers bent steel and penetrated solid rock, one hit of her arm dented the door of an armored tank, she was always so strong and we didn't realize that until after Ares' revelation, even she looked surprised, it all made sense to her after that, and when she embraced this truth her power became so insane that not even the God of War could defeat her
Did any one notice that Robin Wright, who's in The Princess Bride, played the part of Antiope the sister of Hippolyta, general of the Amazonian army.I loved all the comments given after the film, well done all of you and looking forward to the next one.
I loved this movie until the ending. When he says "I wish I could tell you that one person is causing all of this," I think that gives an important lesson about how war is complex and many people make choices that lead to it. Then it's immediately undercut because it turns out Ares IS real and when she kills him the war ends. I hated that. The movie is like a 10/10 gymnastics routine where the gymnast faceplants on the landing.
Hey Holden,
Just want to wish you and the crew a good weekend! 🎊🎉
I think my favorite line in the movie was when Charlie was ashamed and and wanted to bail and Diana says "But then who will sing for us?"

Hey dude, I have a watched you since my friend watches Star Wars! I love you and mat’s friendship and I love watching you guys!
You guys should watch the animated DC movie universe which starts with Justice League: the Flashpoint Paradox. The characters are written phenomenally, the stories are amazing, and they are not afraid to go completely dark. The last film (Justice League Dark: Apokolips War) was actually rated R. These 16 films, in my opinion, are the best build up of the DC universe with characters, villains, you name it.
Wahooo!!!! love the vids holden! keep up the great work!!!
Matt: the first person on the internet to appreciate the final fight scene with Ares.
The great thing about this movie is it presents multiple answers to the problem of evil, and support for both answers. Is it black & white, or is there a gray area? Yes.

No.
I remember people thinking this movie was gonna flop, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise
Given that it followed Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, it's not a surprise people thought it would flop. It's interesting how easily fans forgive Snyder when they were so vehement about the fact that Superman and Batman were killing people left, right, and center.
@@bryanwoods3373 That's a good point

Its a damn good day when Holden uploads a video
If your name is Steve and you're in a superhero movie, DO NOT GET ON A PLANE
His secretary was Pam from the British version of the Office
I think you misunderstood what she was saying about love.
By the end she understands that killing Aris does NOT take the bad out of people's hearts.
She knows that it's a personal choice everyone makes, and that protecting people (witch dose sometimes requires fighting or killing), and Love is the best way to encourage people to chose good.
It shows her accepting Steve's view on people, not giving a different one.
Before, she "loved" people because of an imaginary goodness she thought they had. When she finally understood how flawed they were, she stopped "loving" them. Watching her friends, out of bullets, holding each other waiting to die, and especially Steve giving his life to save countless others, she was now able to "Love" humanity for who they really are.
She always wanted to help Humanity be the best version of itself but now she's changing her tactics.
She doesn't want to help Batman take out big bads, because she no longer believes that is the answer.
I didn’t mind 1984 🤷♂️ I thought some scenes were beautiful! And I really enjoyed Diana a lot more. I get some of the villain stuff was a bit silly but sometimes I enjoy some campiness in my movies.
Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig performance were great as Maxwell Lord and Cheetah and the concept of the movie was cool but it felt so different due to change in tone and felt like it was trying to be more comedic rather than serious
Nah. Its totally trash." Man bad" bla bla
*Checks comments 1st to see if Holden cracked jokes over the whole thing*
Adorable dogs, Prime... I love 'em...
Wonder Woman evolved drastically from this movie to ZSJL. She became more self aware of the world, more brave and more of a badass in ZSJL, while I still do love her in this movie. Her action scenes give me goosebumps everytime in both movies.
15:44 Idk why but even back then when the movie came out, Steve's accent always made me giggle lol 😅
That intro bit was 10/10
I prefer the way they do action with wonder woman in the one scene where she mows down all the soldiers in the end and in the Snyder cut, because it actually shows off how fast she is.
In the comics, the Amazonians don't sculpt their children from clay. That was only Diana. She's a special case.
In the comic canon, the Amazonians will go out into the ocean outside of their safety bubble. They lure in sailors, sleep with them, then kill them and sink their ships.
After birth if the child is a girl, great. If the child is a boy, they kill it and start the process all over again.
Pretty dark if you ask me.
out of all your intros, this one probably takes the cake lol
Still even now for me the best DCEU film. Just a real shame they didn't stick the landing.
If Diana was left with the idea that there was no wizard behind the curtain and that some people can just be evil, it adds more. Also adds more weight to Steve's death as she was so single minded in her pursuit. Unfortunately we had to get the big CGI fight and her power up that never appears again...
The professor who created Wonder Woman also created the lie detector test... the more you know
Yes! Honestly, super interesting when I found that out.
Pretty cool seeing all the guys on the couch. Feels just like some bros hanging out.
Also, Matt’s physique is pretty underrated. He’s not too big or anything, but he’s pretty big and lean for being natty. Also Holden I can tell you’ve lost weight. Been noticing it for a while
All I can focus on besides the great reaction is the BIG ASS FLY that’s in the background watching too 😂😂 I would’ve went crazy tryna kill it
10:34 Matt wait 'til you see Wonder Woman 1984. She uses the lasso to swing across lightning. If only Spiderman can web-sling across the sky.
I understand that people want a female lead superhero movie. I get that the cultural significance of this movie is huge. However.. This doesn't really do Wonder Woman, or Women in general justice.
Steve Trevor is the one who pushes the plot forward in every situation.
If Steve never survived in the island and told Diana about the war they never would have left.
If Steve didn't have the rank he did, Diana would have never talked to the Generals.
Steve is the one that took Diana to the front.
Steven is the one that blows up the plane.
It's even Steve's death that pushes her over the edge.
The entire time Diana is constantly asking "Steve, I need to do something. Can you help me?" And Steve's like "Yeah baby, don't worry about it. I'll take care of you. I'll handle it."
He has an answer for everything that Diana needs help with. Steve is the driving force behind the movie. Which sucks because it should have been Diana.
1984 was a better movie in terms of this, but even then, that movie was pretty gross at certain times. (It wasn't a good movie, but at least Diana actually solved problems on her own without needing her man to hold her hand.)
I just think this movie was pretty bad.
Why do you all have these giant beautiful houses? Now I'm depressed. :(
Awe keep your head up! Love your talent with the piano! watched and gave a few likes. Honestly for me, it's a mix of hard work, luck, and a decade of good financial choices.
I love how Wonder Woman’s theme music is just the Spy Kids music.
Wonder Woman is a tremendous movie. One of my favorite.
It is interesting that in history ww1 ended with a armistice who's terms were so onerous on Germany that the world was doomed to fight another world war 20 years later. So maybe Aries succeeded after all.
