    Aragorn wears Boromir's bracers around his forearms. He continues to wear them throughout the 2nd and 3rd films. And, yes, all three films were filmed at once; similarly the trilogy was written as one book and published originally as three novels.

    Yes! Quite a few reactors have casually said that they thought that Elrond should have taken the Ring or pushed Isildur over the edge...but that would have indeed started a war, right then and there and the relationship between Men and Elves would have forever been changed!

    • @Djorgal
      @Djorgal 2 дня назад +4

      There's also the fact that Elrond wouldn't necessarily have been able to cast the Ring into the fire either.
      But it does help for the credibility of the scene the fact that in the books, they don't actually go to the crack of Doom. They have this discussion on the battlefield at the foot of Mount Doom. Humans and elves had a flimsy alliance, so the elves trying to take Isildur's loot by force just when the battle is won would have been a slaughter. That's exactly what the Ring would have wanted, and Elrond showed great wherewithal and wisdom in not forcing the issue.

A cool detail is the Army of Mordor fleeing like they did was the result of the simulation registering their commander had been slain and their forces routed, opting them to flee for the quickest and safest route from the area. I wish that tech was publicly available. Imagine recreating the entire Middle Earth map, and letting loose the units with lore accurate events occurring to see how they’d react.

This movie I was scared of when I first started watching it at my cousins house growing up and I couldn’t get pass the halfway point but I gave in the next day and finished it and NEVER looked back since. The memories with this movie will forever keep me feeling nostalgic. This is just….GREATNESS!!!!

    The wizards and balrog are the same kind of demigodish being that sauron is, the eagles are supposed to be the size of half a football field and are also demigods, and also the ring has such a mind of its own that when sauron senses frodo at mount doom, he panics because he thinks it changed allegiances, it is easier for him to believe that his ring changed masters than that anyone would destroy it.

    Tolkien nerd here, I apologise if this comes across a bit dry, but since they brought up the History of Middle-Earth 12 book series I just want to clarify that they are not the in-universe history of the world of Middle-Earth, they're the real world history of Tolkien writing the world of the Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings (excepting the Hobbit as it was originally not connected to his Middle-Earth mythos), they're a collection of his first drafts and subsequent iterations on those stories along with various essays and poems that his son Christopher Tolkien compiled and annotated in the years after his fathers passing into the twelve books.
    As someone who has read all of them, I would only advise it if you are very, VERY into learning how the stories came to be over time, as an academic pursuit. (if you thought the Silmarillion itself was a tough read, wait until you've read six different, highly inconsistent drafts of it)
    But, a fun thing you can glean from them is that Frodo's original name in the early drafts was going to be Bingo Bolger-Baggins.
    The stories Tolkien actually finished and saw published are:
    The Hobbit
    The Lord of the Rings.
    what we call The Silmarillion, while beloved, was never actually a finished project, Christopher Tolkien just took the most cohesive versions of his fathers incomplete myths and legends (much of which was written years before either the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings) and edited them together to form the semi-coherent book we now know. He would, years later, find more surviving drafts of some of the stories in the Silmarillion and would combine and re-edit those into their own books (The Children of Hurin, the Fall of Gondolin, The fall of Numenor etc)

    I really suggest watching the behind the scenes stuff for the trilogy on your own time, but these movies or anything like it will most likely never be replicated. The things they did to make it as real as possible were incredible. Here are a few examples. All the actors that were orc species took 2-3 hours to get their makeup/prosthetics on, especially if they were closer to the camera. All the chain mail in the movie was handmade by 2 guys over a couple years that linked individual plastic ring together and then spray painted it with a lightweight metal. 12.5 million rings in total and an average of 13,000 + rings per mail. I think my favorite shot in the first movie is the ring reflecting all the members fighting over who is going to take it since it was trying to corrupt them all in real time at 45:39. Even the filming and perspective tricks for Bilbo's house when he was with Gandalf were exceptionally done. Two home sets, one with bigger items and furniture and one normal. The deflection at 1:20:27 wasn't scripted. It was supposed to be close, but he had to deflect it since it came right at him lol

      It's fun to watch all the different ways people try to explain the complexities of LOTR lore for people who aren't familiar and probably don't intend to dive that deep. In a way, the Maiar are sort of like angels, or demigods, or even lesser gods in the pantheon like Adonis or Anemoi in the Greek pantheon (like non-Olympian gods). They weren't created as emissaries, they all helped sing the entire world into creation at the beginning of time after Eru Iluvatar sang them into existence. I've seen people go "Well, Eru is Tolkiens' insert of the Christian omnipotent God that fit his religious beliefs", but then the Valar help create things, so are they lesser gods, angels or demigods? Then you get people saying it's a pantheon thing with Eru as the head god and the Valar as lesser gods, but what does that make the Maiar? I dunno, I think it's interesting.

      Doesn’t look like it, but that’s kind of a good thing for a first watcher, the only scene I think needs to be in the theatrical for Fellowship is the concerning hobbits intro. Now when you get to two towers the absence of the Retaking Osgiliath celebration really is a shame.

    • @Dr_sharko
      @Dr_sharko 3 дня назад +11

      @@gloomygloomstalker3878your wrong there unfortunately. The the theatrical release of fellowship cuts out a lot of Boromir and Aragorn stuff and a scene in Moria between Gandalf and Frodo that is crucial to two towers. Two towers extended cuts out a lot of Faramir and again Aragorn stuff. And I don’t remember much from return of the king theatrical but it at least cuts out the crucial scene of Saruman’s death

    • @vitalstrats850
      @vitalstrats850 3 дня назад +1

      The only reason you should watch the theatrical is only if you can't sit and watch a longer movie or if you can't get into them. If you are genuinely interested in these movies the extended is the way to go. They help form actual emotional connections with the characters and actual understand them.

    • @gloomygloomstalker3878
      @gloomygloomstalker3878 3 дня назад

      @@Dr_sharko I heavily disagree dude, and take this from someone who’s entire personality growing up was LOTR and who can still mostly mouth along to the movies and recite the trivia and even correct the fake trivia of these things, the theatrical is the better way to introduce absolute newbies into the series, most of the scenes cut aren’t super important except for a select few and even then the general gist of the character arcs and such are in the theatrical cuts.
      Once they’ve watched the films and are interested, THATS when you hit em with the extended edition marathons and stuff, but for a first time watch you pop in the theatrical, sit back, shut up and ride the wave with the person. And keep in mind; I do agree that the two towers osgiliath scene and the return of the king Saruman scenes are HUGE and should’ve made the cut to theatrical, but making someone sit through an extra hour of movie for those specific scenes isn’t worth it, people do have to make time for these kinds of things and especially here with a channel that has to use time to make content, if they save an hour here to go make something else to make money to pay for their living then that’s good.
