Movie Summary:
Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. It also took me a bit to see this film, but I was also blown away. It's probably the single best film of the DCEU I think. I also enjoyed the sequel, but it was always gonna be an uphill battle after this one.
Oh it definitely is. For so long I kept wondering why the hell DC couldn't make a decent movie when they have such a huge well to draw from. Then I saw this film and thought HALLELUJAH!! Aquaman was also much better that I thought it would be, but Wonder Woman is hands down the best film in the DCEU.
Yes Wonder Woman has defeated Superman a few times in the comics(he’s also beaten her a few times ofc) and she always dog walks his cousin Kara (Supergirl). She’s usually considered around Superman level at her base form in the comics, some versions (God Mode, Golden WW, WitchMarked etc) are way above kryptonian level

@iHexedYou Supes might be scared of her sword. But, all Superman has to do it one simple move to end her. WW one weakness. And it is the most sexist thing ever. Bind her hands behind her back....and can only be done by a man renders her powerless. Dates back to either the 40s or 50s comics.
@iHexedYou Canon is canon, the fact that you had to add the word anymore. Proves that at one point it was true, and if it is true back then it is canon. Regardless if they try to never mention it. The caption I remember is two cops handcuffing her and there go all her powers. I actually find funny as hell that is the only way to beat her. She was also written way back when to be able to stand toe to toe with Superman before DC started to go all crazy and increasing how much power Superman has.
@iHexedYou Umm thinking you don't kid. The bidding thing was written well before any other thing that could stop WW making it canon. Regardless if DC now chooses to ignore what was written 70 plus years ago. Keeping in mind they can't even keep straight the canon for Superman from less then 20 years ago. Example Batman v Superman. Lex doesn't create Doomsday he finds Doomsday and does nothing more then release him from his prison. (And that is from one of the biggest story lines from Superman)
But hey keep on doing what works for you and pick and choose what is and isn't canon. But since my example of bidding her hands predates anything you pick as an example makes my example canon.
People keep asking me how I think a Strong Female Character should be written? This. This is how you do it. Not by Putting Men down but showing that a woman can be just as inspiring as men. The Whole part about No man land is a PERFECT Example of this. The Writers could have easily added something like "Well I aint no man" in response to Chrise Pine saying "This is not what we came here to do" Something Cliche like that. But that is not what she said. She said "No.But that is what I'M going to do" It is very sublte writing but my god does it change the entire dynamic of the character. Seeing all the inhumanity in the scene as a result of WW2 and her saying that simple line just made any one want to get up on their seats and charge along side her. I remember this scene clearly when i saw it in theaters the entire audience was in silence and in awe of how inspring this entire sequence you could hear a pin drop.
Exactly. If this were a Marvel movie, Marvel would've written that interaction at the war-front in the trenches, the female hero character would've put men down with a cliched line like "Well, I ain't no man...men are cowards." IMHI, the writing in the DC movies is far superior to that of Marvel. Also, one correction --- the war depicted in this movie is not World War 2. It's World War 1 (The First World War) that occurred between 1914 and 1918,
she has fought superman at least twice in the comics, she can stand her own for sure, and to her advantage she´s a magical being, and her sword has cut his skin, i would say diana has more knowledge, strategy and technique
It's true that the second one isn't AS good as this... But I really liked it and I don't think it deserved a lot of the critism it got.. But, it's about taste🙂 I liked it and I think ypu would too
Comics wise she has defeated superman and there was a rebirth version of comics where she killed superman as she thought clark killed the amazon tribe. She is the most brutal amongst the JL imo
The "Warrior" trailer for this movie is easily the best movie trailer I've ever seen. It got me so hype up to the point I had to see the movie on release day. I rarely go see movies on release day. Good reaction.

Yes. Yes she can and HAS slapped Superman around before. A few thousand years of training with the finest warriors on earth have left her the most dangerous martial artist in the Justice League. At least according to Batman. Freaking Batman!
Finally, a female super hero that is tough, and capable. Believably so. Just as important imo, she is so incredibly and wonderfully feminine. Soft, warm (Oh, a baby!), and compassionate (I can and will help them). Not to mention the fact that she’s also beautiful.
Did I mention she’s also mad intelligent?
This is how you do it folks. This and Black Panther are how you deliver diverse characters from historically marginalized communities that are more than their power sets.

@22:19, she could hold her own against Superman...for awhile. Her only advantages are her fighting skills and magical weapons like a sword that can cut him. But if Superman was like say a Homelander or Omni-Man type in personality or character she wouldn't be able to stop him. Practically nobody on Earth could stop him with the possible exception of a magical practitioner like Doctor Fate. Magic is a bigger threat to Superman than Kryptonite if wielded by the right person.
Years ago there was a storyline in which Superman got brainwashed and went on a rampage. Batman got wrecked and put in the ICU instantly. Diana almost got wrecked and took some heat vision burns to the face. She only survived by being nimble enough to dodge most of his attacks.
Wonder Woman later spoke to Superman in private and told him how the rest of the JLA feels about him. She told Supes that as much as he is admired and loved by his fellow heroes, they also were a tad afraid of him. Wonder Woman told him that "you are so much more powerful than the rest of us its frightening".
For people who say Superman is a boring character and too goody goody, I ask would you really want him to be otherwise?

There was a fight between Superman and Wonder Woman where Maxwell Lord was controlling Superman. Wonder Woman banged her bracelets on either side of his head and made his ears bleed and ring. Then she cut his throat with her tiara but not deeply to kill him. She then used her lasso on Maxwell Lord and he told her he would never stop. So she broke Maxwell Lord's neck. It snapped Superman out of his trance but she had killed and it changed how she was viewed. There was also another time where her sword cut him. Superman has a weakness to magic and Wonder Woman holds many God enhanced magical weapons. Henry Cavill Superman is extremely powered up. He should not have so easily defeated her in the Justice League movie. A side note: This movie changed Wonder Woman's history forever and became cannon. She was not the daughter of Zeus before this movie. She was created from the clay from the shores of the island by her mother who dropped her own blood on the statues head and the last soul from the well of souls was released and became Diana. The movie also made it cannon that Diana could not make her way back to the island. In the comic for 75 years she could return anytime and she did often.
Glad to see this response. I said similar things as well. But that fight you mentioned, I think Super was a couple of seconds away from give Diana the coup de grace. Maxwell put her in a no win situation.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I see the part where they're reaching No Man's Land, and we see all those poor people running away, those poor kids crying, it just breaks my heart anytime... to think something like this happened twice to Europe, and so many more times all around the globe, as it's still happening... 😔😔😔

Yep if Supes has spent all day in sunlight, its a wrap for anyone but maybe Martian Manhunter. If he goes out into space and supercharges outside the atmosphere MM won't even be able to stop him.
the thing is, diana is pure magic, she´s a demigod and superman is vulnerable to magic so in a fight he wouldn´t be at a 100% plus in the comics he got cut more than once by her magic sword, plus wonder woman is probably the best fighter on paper technique and all

I'm sorry but the fact Aries slaughtered all of the Gods at the same exact time before going on a 1v1 with Zeus and winning then being as weakened as he was to still manipulate humanity as a whole and holding his own against Zeus power I think Kratos has a run for his money on this one. Wonder Woman at base is a tiny bit superior from superman due to her magic advantage however, in their fight it goes back and forth.
I also recommend watching Cat Woman! It’s super underrated!
I really like that movie. Also like how that version actually had cat like powers.

If you haven't watched the recent DC live action movies there is a watch order. Warner Brothers didn't execute the DCEU as well as Marvel, and it was rushed but the release order is
1)Man of Steel
2) Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice : Ultimate Release (not theatrical)
3) Suicide Squad (This movie is more of a side quest in relation to the other movies)
4) Wonder Woman - which you just watched
5) Zack Snyder's Justice League (released in 2021) not the theatrical release from 2018 which is a butchered version of ZSJL
DC also has an animated universe which was executed a lot better. There are connect series base on the New 52 comics starting with The Flashpoint Paradox , There are older movies based either classic comic book stories or old animated TV shows.
my suggestion is the animated movies most are pretty dam good. like new frontier, under the Red Hood, The dark Knight returns, the long Halloween just to name a few

Kratos....well he is a demi-god and son of Zeus (in the game), just like Diana is a daughter of Zeus so I guess they'd be on an even-level.
In Greek mythology though, Kratos is the child of Pallas, who is Zeus' cousin. So if Diana is Zeus' daughter, then she would be Kratos' 2nd cousin. However, in mythology, Kratos' parents are BOTH gods, whereas Diana's mother is an Amazon so Kratos should technically be stronger 😅

What a fun reaction video! I had the best time watching this. I do have to echo what others have told you. While this movie is *spectacular,* the second installment is...well...subpar I guess is the best way I can describe it. It had some cool and enjoyable moments, but overall it's simply nowhere near the level of this first film.

One thing I did nt see. Chief is the Blackfoot Indian god napi. That's why she only shakes his hand. .
IMO, Wonder Woman is the best DCEU film. And the sequel, 1984, is one of, if not the, worst film in the DCEU.
100%. If I was to rate both films on a 10-star scale, this one would easily be an 8, possibly 9. I don't think I would rate 1984 higher than a 5. It was so disappointing.

I read that Diana is THE most deadly creation in all of the universe and beyond because Zeus , the literal God , higher bieng creator of all created Ares the God of War thst went wrong so Zeus created from his tub or something making Diana literallly having Zeus as her father , he created the most deadly “weapon” the God Killer” THE only thing that could defeat Ares , created by Zeus to kill the God of war makes her tht mist powerful being ever . Not sure tho!
