An interesting fact, the creator of Wonder Woman was a man named William Marston. He was an American psychologist and him and his wife Elizabeth Halloway were responsible for an early prototype of the Polygraph Machine, or the lie detector test used by police today. Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) was based off of the real life woman Olive Byrne who was a student of William and ended off in a polyamorous relationship with William and his wife. You can see the similarities between the Polygraph Machine and Wonder Woman's Lasso Of Truth which also had ties to William Marston's idea's of bondage and willing submission.

I'm not a comic book person. So I can't say much about the original Wonder Woman stories. But I grew up watching the U.S. TV series "Wonder Woman" starring Lynda Carter. It would probably come across as pretty cheesy and tame today, because it was made to be a TV show mostly for kids, in an era where TV wasn't considered something to be finely crafted and deeply written. But I think lots of people have fond memories of the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman.

Diana does NOT work for Wayne Enterprises, Bruce was just returning the picture. 16:37 Her arm healed up from the beach, the wound was gone when it was unbandaged. She can heal, the poison does not affect her. Charley has PTSD.
Your mike level is low throughout, please check.
The more she trains, the stronger she gets, and Ares can feel it. Her mother was hiding Diana because she knew Ares would come to destroy her. If she trained as a little girl Ares would have come for her as child, no way to win.
Seems you missed some points of the movie or just missed a lot, like you didn't really watch the movie ( you missed a lot of things that are explained. Must be a Gen Z trait.
Diana is part God, she's the only child on the island. She never saw men, wounds from war, ice cream, etc. She is a "fish out of water". She doesn't know she is different/part God. At the end she showed her "true" full power. (glowing). She is very powerful.

Wonder Woman's origin in the comics isn't 100% set in stone, and it's been retold a few times. The first time she appeared, I think they touched on the most important plot beats of that in this movie... but it wasn't as deep of an origin story as Superman or Batman had. She is certainly a symbol for first and second wave feminism. Back then it was more about being treated as equals, and helping men learn from their failures rather than berate them. But when the Justice League started, the writers made her a secretary of all things, and didn't treat her well. Maybe that's why they made the secretary/slavery joke.
They had a Wonder Woman show in the late 70s (which was really a family show), but since then she'd only appeared in cartoons until this movie... so it was good to have her back, and this was a good movie! I like Gal Gadot, but I don't think they gave her enough to work with here as there do seem to be some gaps in the story.
That said, the DCEU and WB live action movies after this are very hit and miss. When you move on to the Justice League, I HIGHLY recommend you watch "Zack Snyder's Justice League" as it's a more complete and enjoyable film than the theatrical version. It's long, at 4+ hours, but even a fan or the original version like me had to give in and say... yes, they made it so much better! But unfortunately the Batman movies you watched (except Batman v Superman) have nothing to do with this continuity or the next.
Speaking of... I hope the restarted DCU movies, will be more fun and consistent with the new actors.

Not many people know that there was an attempt to make a Wonder Woman TV show back in 1967. The "screen test" for it is here on RUclips. I won't spoil it for anyone wanting to watch it. The FIRST TV appearance of Wonder Woman was in 1974, portrayed by Cathy Lee Crosby. Again, not going to spoil it for those wanting to watch.
Lynda Carter's 1975-79 show had Diana on Paradise Island, which was later changed in the comics to Themascara.

The reason this is set in World War I is because DC Comics has a new rule that their heroes can't interfere with World War 2. The reason they give is that the Nazis had the Lancepoint of Longinus (the Spear of Destiny, aka the spearhead that pierced Christ's heart), and it negated the abilities of metahumans/superheroes.

I think “simple” is the word to describe this movie, this one is a origin movie with a simpler story to follow, completely enjoyable, with a lot of heart but it lacks of the epicness we were getting from Man of Steel, BvS and SS, but is not bad, it is far from it, people enjoyed this one too, it did good in the box office, also first female-led superhero film in more than a decade back then. The only thing people and fans criticized a little bit including myself was that ending since this movie has the weakest ending of the SnyderVerse, they definitely held back with this one a lot, and that’s a shame after seeing her in action in BvS (and then in ZSJL ) and how powerful she is, it could have had a spectacular ending, originally the third act was going to be huge, but they changed it, they also changed Ares and made him look weaker, you will see more of his original look in ZSJL, but yes they reshot some stuff in WW too cause you know, they got scared after BvS so Geoff Johns and Warner ruined everything.
Now, Wonder Woman 84… That one is a really really really bad film a completely waste of potential and actors.
Remember Zack Snyders Justice League is next and right there the original DCEU aka SnyderVerse sadly ends, you can watch Aquaman 2018 since it could fit in there but it is not part of it, still it kind of has the epicness of the SnyderVerse but still a very compromised story.
Let’s just hope we can watch the original story conclude properly soon #RestoreTheSnyderVerse 🙌

I don't wouldn't describe Wonder Woman as a "typical" superhero hero movie.
Spider-Man is what I would describe as the typical superhero movie. Just some unassuming guy and an extraordinary accident happens and he gains special abilities.
That's typical. Not Wonder Woman. However, I have heard Wonder Woman compared to Captain America because their origins center around fighting Germans/Nazis.
But she might have more in common with Thor because they both have godlike origins. But no other superhero has God origins but these 2.
One could argue Shazam relates. I disagree. Billy Batson gets his powers from a magical ✨️ wizard that compare it's powers to the gods. Not the same thing. -OG

I liked this movie, it was one of the better DC films. The second one was not quit as good but worth a look. The Wonder Woman from the late 70's was a TV show with Linda Carter. As far as I know, there was no movie. Anyway, back to this film, Diana was overcome with grief after seeing Steve sacrifice himself so, as per usual superhero protocol, flies into a rage and takes out the bad guy. It was just the motivation she needed after dealing with emotions she had no prior experience with. Being naive was part of her charm, the "wonder" of seeing things for the first time. Overall a good movie. Keep the journey going! Next up, Justice League (Synder cut is better, just saying...)

Well... I really liked this movie a lot. It was a lot of fun, and surprisingly entertaining. Patty Jenkins's direction is nicely shot, the acting is fabulous, the music score is incredible, the action sequence are awesome, and the chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine is heartwarming. The character of Diana Prince is very interesting and active. She's always worries when all of the innocent people, including women and children, will die and suffer after Steve Trevor tells her that there's nothing they can do to save everyone, and she decides to stop the war from terrorizing this isolated world. It's a very thrilling, earnest, emotional and action-packed movie with Gal Gadot's charismatic performance, as well as the DC Extended Universe's best film, and succeeds in spectacular fashion. I respect your own opinion, but it is epic. A marginal thumbs up for me on "Wonder Woman".

Wonder Woman was pretty average, albeit better than most things Snyder produces. I had big hopes that he would let Patty Jenkins direct a more humor and character driven film. Because she is far better at that than the action set pieces. Why hire a woman to breathe life into the character and story, then give her a crap story and place CGI above the story, humor, dialogue and acting?
It could have been so much better and even great, with a bit more daring and a bit less cheese. The initial parts were great, (cept some of the cheesy slow-mo early fight scenes on the island, way too much 300 type poo) and if they'd kept it based in London, after they arrived, they could have done so much more with her, with her humor played off against the sexism of the time..... Because the powerful woman in 1917 London played brilliantly against the stuffy Britain of that age. She was quite literally a goddess in London, then she just went out into the european lowlands or wherever and it got lamer and lamer. Gadot is a pretty lame actress but she WAS PERFECT for this role. Her humor and comic timing worked brilliantly in the initial phases and in London.
All that dumb trench fighting and the sort of sniper squad she was with and the crap in germany could have been tossed in the trash, they could have kept her in London, and the big fights could have been Zeppelin raids....where she flew with the pilots and basically was jumping out of their planes onto the zeppelins, getting inside and kicking the crap out of all the crews of the zeppelins....would have been amazing, and what CGI was made for. Could have been THE centerpiece action scene you would dream of while ALSO allowing the humor in London to flourish.
Lucy Davis was GREAT as Etta Candy....and they just threw her away, after that great initial part. Snyder always throws away great dialogue, characters and interplay in favor of the cheesiest action possible. Imagine leaving all the action set in London, with Etta Candy and Wonder Woman there. So much could have been done.
    So much potential, totally wasted.
Instead it had way too much Zack Snyder overseeing the story and production and turning it to nonsense.

Most comic heroes are built of of the root mythologies of the western world. Some newer characters are starting to use mythologies from the east but you will see things as they relate to Greek mythology. If you did not pick it up in school or you are from more eastern cultures you may have to do some research on these old mythological stories to understand where the comics are coming from. The Amazons are a mixture of Greek and Eastern European/Western Asian mythologies. an interesting study if you did not get these during schooling.

I'm pretty much 100% on-side with your take -- it's a decent film, but far from good, let alone great. The narrative structure is clunky, and some details just required too much suspension of disbelief (sailing from the Mediterranean to London overnight just makes ZERO sense).
Oh and absolutely love, love, LOVE your hair in this. Wowzers girl :P
