I use mine every single day at work. Runs for hours, it's a bit big for "mouth holders" like me but I've gotten used to it. It's incredibly bright, held on the high power setting it can and will put a char mark in cardboard/plastic if held directly against it for an extended period of timed. I've dropped it, thrown it, drowned it in coolant, covered it in oil, and abused the crap out of it since I got it. Fantastic light all around imho.
@@hijaf After running my original one and beating the crap out of it for nearly two years, the battery is getting a tad bit on the weak side and I've had a screw fall out effectively ruining its water tight seal but it does still work well enough. The pocket clip also loosened and fell off on its own at some point. Maybe remove all of the screws and apply some loctite. I did end up buying another one, but it's for house duty not work. I carry a Surefire E1B Backup for EDC and it’s a great light but the round shape does make it a little bit fat in some pockets. It’s short though being a single-cell light. I love the fact that it has a 5 lumen setting which is really beneficial for limiting battery consumption, and is usually sufficient for my needs but you have 400 lumens available if you need it.

Great light. I use it as my EDC for work. Haven’t used my bigger light since I’ve had it. I think Streamlight should bring out a slightly wider but same thickness light and bump up the run time and/or lumens.
Bought one off of a tool truck when the vendor showed it off. I never leave the house without a flashlight, however carrying a 1inch tube around in the pocket sucks, and isn't 'incognito' in the pocket either. This thing is an absolute gem for an EDC light, rides like a dream, and illuminates your immediate area more than enough. I am with you though on the lack of a cover for the USB-C port, especially with that port being the only thing exposed outside of the pocket it tends to gather bits and pieces of whatever environment you are in. Otherwise it's a homerun as far as a pocket light goes for me. Really enjoy your vids dude!
I have carried Streamlight exclusively for the last 20 years and have used them almost daily. They are extremely reliable. All their products are guaranteed forever. Fortunately I live near the factory and can walk in there with any problems. They will fix or replace anything wrong with it for free. They won’t fix batteries or bulbs though but they will fix or replace everything else. I own one of these and several other models. One thing about rechargeable lights is when they go out they give no warning so that is something to consider.
I've had mine about a year now and never leave home without it.Ive had lint from pocket get in charging port but that's all.I completely agree about rubber plug for port. The one thing I've noticed was when pulling light out of pocket in a dark area I fumble around feeling for switch. It also would have been nicer with a mid selection for power switch.Any who,Loved the video and keep up the great work.God bless...
I would like to see how this compares to the Surefire Stiletto. I know that runs around $125 and it a fantastic light. I’m seeing these wedges for around $85.
I've carried mine every day since I bought it. I also got the FDE model and, as of yet, I have had zero issues. I agree that it's best suited as an EDC flashlight. I'd probably get a removable battery flashlight for any type of storage, and have done so with my dedicated truck/emergency/home lights. I'm still l using some older Mag Lights for most of those purposes. Overall I really like the Wedge for EDC and I'll probably get a second when I see another sale.
I recently bought the Olight Arkfeld. It's a similar light with the switch on the front but also has a laser. Multiple light levels. While I don't like the proprietary charger, it is a magnetic charger that I think helps with water resistance. Good clip on the side. Feels very sturdy and the battery life is very good, I haven't run it down in two weeks of use. May be worth checking out in comparison to the Wedge.
I just bought one with the UV light instead of the laser. I heard the laser is weak. I dont really know what I would do with a laser anyway. Can you explain why you wanted that one instead of the UV? Di you get it for $60cad? they are on sale right now.
@Adam Rudmik I do a lot of presentations at work and thought the laser would be useful. Really doesn't show up well on screens I've found out. Still very happy with the light, but you are correct the laser isn't the greatest. I think red would show up better. Got this one for $70 USD but it wasn't on sale. That price you paid seems good to me, better than I did on it.
@@whichwatch5651 I purchased 2 olights at full price on amazon in the last few years. I only noticed a few days ago that they have sales fairly often. Good to know at least that you can get any product for cheaper if you wait a few months.
I bought this, in black, last year and it is great for all the reasons you mentioned. Plus: (1) it has flat sides and it won't roll away on you as you're working on something; (2) hobos and street zombies assume it is a knife or other weapon if you clip it visibly on your person (minimal deterrence is what I need for walking to my car at night); (3) it holds the charge after being shelved and without the acid leak of conventional batteries; (4) a clean design for office carry (that Stiletto the other commenters have mentioned, that is twice the price, looks a little gaudy and sci-fi); (5) a full broad light without the concentric circles of plastic supermarket-quality flashlights; and (6) although it is made in China, the company is a US company.
I can't tell you how many of those rubber gasket covers I have ripped off over the years lol I always find them a nuisance and have never wished I had left it attached. But I'm not a big outdoors in the mud person either.
Lol to spend that much on a light is absolutely jerk off level, stream lights, o lights, nite cores, are excellent lights and a quarter to half the price, I been carrying the wedge edc for close to 7 months now, I’m a machinist I use it every day many times. And it’s a beast. I have one stream light and the thing is absolutely useless, it eatssssssssss cr123a batteries within minutes it seems. And sure fire cr123a batteries are not cheap, completely useless. Thing has sat on my dresser for months now . Dead batteries went through a 12 pack of batteries in less then a month, and if ya opt to get the charger and rechargeable cr123 s there’s another 40-50 bucks, so at the point your over 300 fucking dollars for a light that has less lumens then any of my stream lights o lights thru nites and much more I own. Sure fire is max 600 lumens. Don’t get me wrong sure fires are good lights, but not worth the 2 3 4 or more dollars when you can get a nite core tini2 700 lumens for 40 dollars.
From the contouring to the texture lines on the bottom, to it’s overall size/footprint, it’s DEFINITELY inspired by the Microtech Ultratech in form factor..
I’ve had mine for about a year now, carry it 24/7/365 and I love it, I’m an electrician so it gets lots of hard use in attics and basements, getting dropped in insulation or on rocks and concrete and she’s a damn trooper, I wish it had a constant high and low mode would be my only frustration with it as opposed to low all the time and high for 30 seconds. Other than that I love it
The olight version has magnetic charging magnetic base so you can set it somewhere to help you do a task. 1000 lumens. 5 modes a green laser strobe function a memory to go to your last mode. I feel like streamlight isn’t even trying at this point. And same price point. The only draw back is olight is made in China.
Interesting concept. I've purchased a lot of micro lights over the years and the best I've found is still the Browning Alpha Elite. High beam at 500 lumens, plus a mid-range white, and a very low light green. Sturdy, well-made, compact, rechargeable or replaceable with one AA batt. Great pocket clip keeps the thumb plunger above the pocket edge and it clips to the brim of a ball cap perfectly. Generally around $50. And Browning's customer service is some of the best in the U.S.
Love it. ......Overpriced, but love it. I got one in black from Green Top. I think its selling point was its uniqueness, and yes, good comparison to OTF. The reason I like Wedge; A) the cognitive switch that I can turn it on at any stage of mind; just woke up, dazzled, so sick, very weak, hurt, shaking cold etc. and can do with a glove off or on and, its user-friendliness; you just flick it, and anyone in the family can do; so easy. B) the usb-c charging port is best for travellers and campers, and C) the deep pocket carry together with its shape, it sits nice and tight in the pocket ready to go. Now, in 2023 you can check out the new Nitecore EDC27. More interesting features but sure, more expensive. I can stick with my Wedge for a while.
Love the profile of this light and how bright it is. Don’t know how well it would work in a self defense situation vs a gun or a knife but I guess it will do if it’s all you got lol
Finally someone who can relate! Lol Yes, with current technology, aside from those who need larger lights professionally, larger lights hardly ever come into play. Have you considered the Olight i1R2 Pro or the i3E EOS? Both are superb and probably all you’d need day to day. Both are feather weight. I’m not promoting Olight at all. In fact I’m not a fan of their bigger lights. I do feel however that the keychain light is their forte.
As for the lack of cover for the charging port, don't really see that as a problem, I don't have one on my cell phone, never had any problems, good vidio going to check one out.
How many years does the battery last in the wedge flashlight? At the end of battery life, can the consumer replace the battery? Does the manufacturer offer battery replacement or just the flashlight then become disposable?
I think it's cool. But how would you shoot with it? I understand not everyone carries a pistol daily, but for those of us that do and don't use a WML, I'm trying to figure out a shooting position with it. The only one that comes to mind is a very, very old school FBI position where the flashlight is held at arms length to the side, in case some one was shooting back at your light. Very cool looking light. I do like the bronze.
I carry a flashlight daily. I do remodeling for a living. I personally stick with a battery powered light. If I have to use it at work to light a area I need 8-10 hours. Changing battery's is a lot faster than recharging.
Yeah. For anyone on the fence anout soending the cash for this light. Do it. Gift your other ones to a friend. This thing is bulletproof. Lasts for hours. You cannot leave it on high. If it does switch on regular. It still lasts for hours on end. I have yet to run this out of juice. Great light. Picket clip is really nice.
Came very close to getting this light, but in the end, I opted for the Arkfeld UV. Love the Streamlights simple to use switch, but the unprotected USB-C port is inexcusable. Almost every USB chargeable device I own eventually fails at that point.
Nice review. I picked one up last June. It is my primary EDC for around the house/at work. I’ve been astounded by the battery life. My primary use is momentary on/off but I think I’ve only charged it three times since I received it and only once was that when the red LED indicated low battery. If I want better through, more tactical tail cap, and the ability to replace batteries in the field, I go with one of my SureFires. However, as a general use light I have not been disappointed.
Have had one for a year now and one clip screw backed out. Cannot find this in streamlight service parts page so no screws to be found. Would be nice to not have to send it in for a missing screw.
I really like the Streamlight Microstream carry it everyday super small and the usb-c port is covered by a sliding clam shell design. Says it's only 250 lumes high and 50 on the second press low but it's just as effective as some 500 lumen lights I have with the beam pattern so focused in a tight cone it'll do the job in my off hand in a self defense situation and small enough I can two hand grip properly if need be and not drop my light. Can't always have the Tlr1HL on every edc set up those micros fit the bill well lol.
For my all of USB ports, I put magnetic charging connectors that are inexpensive in Amazon. They protect the port and you only need one type of cord to charge the device. Less than $20 for a pack of 4 sets.
You said that the activation button is more accessible than most EDC flashlights which saves a few milliseconds turning it on. So I'm just wondering what type of situation would cause someone to need instant power from a flashlight versus waiting an extra one second or so?
In a situation where going into Strobe mode might be what you need to buy enough time to get you out of a tight spot. It’s a Less Lethal alternative to going straight for your Sig/Glock or knife. A small powerful (at least 2000 lumens) LED TORCH can be an excellent LL deterrent. But only in the right situation!
If this was made at their usa facility and they made a plug for the charge port that was like a rubber mouth piece, I would buy it right now, great review
I have way too many flashlights but love this design so I will probably end up with one more. I agree with you on the price it's very expensive. I would buy it today if I could pick it up for $60.
I really like the design and style of this light. It looks very functional and comfortable modeled after a knife. It’s surprising that no one else has thought of this before. I’d absolutely buy one but not for $80-$100. That’s way too much for me to spend on a flashlight. I’ll wait till Olight makes a $20-$30 version. Thanks for all the great content….You are my go to reviewer and product referral guy.
The lack of a cover for the charging port is a huge issue. I’m a carpenter and furniture maker. I’ve come across the issue you describe with debris filling the port on my phone. I don’t understand why slim phone cases NEVER have the port plug like the big otter boxes. I really want this flash light but the charging port is gonna bother the hell out of me
this is a very cool looking light. I have the Olight Arkfield, and it is shaped very similarly, but a bit smaller, with more modes, and longer run times. Have you had a chance to look at that one> it is around the $80 mark normally ( less when on sale) but I think while it's missing the OTF style switch, it is a decent option with the similarities. I would like to see a side by side comparison of the two. I find that close to 80% of the time, with all of the lights I carry, I tend to use the moonlight or lowest mode. very rarely do I want to really light up the night for distance. the major exception is my head lamp when i am riding in my power chair late at night. I need to know what is on the ground in front of me further out to be able toreact in time.
That the light does not have a tailcap is a hard no for me. When the switch is at the rear, I also know where to activate no matter what. Side switches end up activating in pocket for me. I also prefer using a light in certain holds/gun which work best with a tailcap switch. I like the profile/shape of this light and wish it had a rear switch.
@@nomercyinc6783 here let me dumb it down for you. Most $30 flashlights are IPX8 or better, therefore at this price point it should be too. Go waste your money if you want I don’t care
This light looks like a neat concept but appears to only make sense set up to run it in your right hand. The switch is on the left hand side of the body which compromises your grip in your left hand. Also, I can't imagine this light working well at all with a [p]istol in your other hand. Tail switch is ideal. Heck, Mag Lite's even fit the bill better here IMHO. I don't think it's a bad light. I think it has some flaws and is a bit gimmicky. It's pretty bright and scores a few points for being rechargeable.
Put some duct tape on the end USB. Looks kinda long for EDC but would fit nicely in an organizer like a leather Viperade type belt system or attach to Molle. What kind of battery is in there? Would be ideal if they shortened it & ran it on AAA.? Thanks Aaron.

Very informative. I've been eyeing this for an edc. Thanks for all the information.
I've been looking for a flat sided flashlight with deep carry clip for a while. Thanks for this.
I have edc'd this light for almost a year no issues
Glad to hear that
Love this flashlight. Charge port is IPX7. Doesn't need cover
Great vid 💯 You can definitely tell that you have adequately researched and studied the product and you’re not just talking.
Unique design but the price point is definitely off putting. Thanks for the video, sir. Keep up the excellent work.
Just go with a Surefire Stiletto Pro, far superior and made in the USA. Great review as always.
$250 flashlight? No thanks. Ill stick with my microstream
This is why I carry a O'light i3T EOS single AAA and a pocket/hat clip love it ! Plus my o'pen 2.
Other than that I love it
At 12:18 there is now a wedge xt a smaller and more compact version of the original wedge
The reason I like Wedge;
A) the cognitive switch that I can turn it on at any stage of mind; just woke up, dazzled, so sick, very weak, hurt, shaking cold etc. and can do with a glove off or on and, its user-friendliness; you just flick it, and anyone in the family can do; so easy.
B) the usb-c charging port is best for travellers and campers, and
C) the deep pocket carry together with its shape, it sits nice and tight in the pocket ready to go.
Looks good. I agree on the dust cover for the charging port though.
Ya so dumb
Love this light and agree with the faults and positives nice review
The toothpick of a Swiss Army knife is great for cleaning out those usb sockets.
My wife got me this for Christmas. I love it. Wish it was a little smaller but its a great light. I dont EDC it. I keep it in my car.
Thanks for this video. Interesting and apparently worthwhile piece of gear.
Got mine and it is awesome love it will start to edc it
All I want is them to make is the 1L-1AA with 5lm mode and I'd buy 4
I ordered some usbc silicone plugs. Works great and they are cheap. Highly recommend. Wish it came with one oob though.
Finally someone who can relate! Lol
Yes, with current technology, aside from those who need larger lights professionally, larger lights hardly ever come into play.
Part of my EDC is the Microtech ultratech otf. Love that blade
I really like the clip. It seems compact to satisfy some people. Thinking about it…thanks mate!
SUGGESTION: when you get the plug covers. Thread some heavy duty cordage through it with a needle and loop it over the pocket clip.
How many years does the battery last in the wedge flashlight? At the end of battery life, can the consumer replace the battery? Does the manufacturer offer battery replacement or just the flashlight then become disposable?
I've had my Wedge for 8 months or so now. No issues with the charging port not having a gasket.
Good to hear 👂
I think it's cool. But how would you shoot with it? I understand not everyone carries a pistol daily, but for those of us that do and don't use a WML, I'm trying to figure out a shooting position with it. The only one that comes to mind is a very, very old school FBI position where the flashlight is held at arms length to the side, in case some one was shooting back at your light.
Very cool looking light. I do like the bronze.
Great review. Thanks! I'm subscribing.
I carry a flashlight daily. I do remodeling for a living. I personally stick with a battery powered light. If I have to use it at work to light a area I need 8-10 hours. Changing battery's is a lot faster than recharging.
Ya if you need light for that long this is not the light for you.
We had the other guys, surefire helmet lights I think they were overseas worked well
I really like the Streamlight Microstream carry it everyday super small and the usb-c port is covered by a sliding clam shell design.
I hope they make a smaller version in the future but I still am interested in buying this one for now
Looks pretty awesome…would be nice to have a strike bezel up front like the Olight Warrior since it’s such a quick access tool.
Pretty sure bashing someone in the skull with this flashlight will still have the same desired effect
Were did you get the plugs for the charger cover?
I like the profile. For price point I would go Warrior mini 2 from olight. Would compare dimensions and weigh the trade-off
If this was made at their usa facility and they made a plug for the charge port that was like a rubber mouth piece, I would buy it right now, great review
I love the magnetic charged lights. No need for a port, thus no need for a flap.
Etsy has a great c outlet rubber cover for this wedge
I have way too many flashlights but love this design so I will probably end up with one more. I agree with you on the price it's very expensive. I would buy it today if I could pick it up for $60.
I really like the design and style of this light. It looks very functional and comfortable modeled after a knife. It’s surprising that no one else has thought of this before. I’d absolutely buy one but not for $80-$100. That’s way too much for me to spend on a flashlight. I’ll wait till Olight makes a $20-$30 version. Thanks for all the great content….You are my go to reviewer and product referral guy.
Olight - 30 dollars you must mean WOWTAC lol but yeah definitely not worth the money for just feature
I bought one when it first came out and returned it 2 days later. These things suck.
Is this flashlight Intrinsically Safe? I like it. I want one for work
The lack of a cover for the charging port is a huge issue. I’m a carpenter and furniture maker. I’ve come across the issue you describe with debris filling the port on my phone. I don’t understand why slim phone cases NEVER have the port plug like the big otter boxes. I really want this flash light but the charging port is gonna bother the hell out of me
You could put a small piece of electric tape over the charging port to keep the dust out.
I like it. Streamlight makes great stuff. I don't like the hardwired battery though. Needs to be able to come out and recharge or replace.
I wish they made the hat clip for this I used the smaller steamlight with hat clip for years
this is a very cool looking light.
No gasket? I'll wait for Wedge 2.0 before buying.
You’re right, missing a cover on the charging port is a huge oversight. You almost wonder what they were thinking when they did that
They can easily waterproof charging ports nowadays
It’s a flashlight not a fucking submarine
@@nomercyinc6783 clearly you know nothing about the concept of hard use tools
@@TheTranq not even remotely accurate
@@nomercyinc6783 here let me dumb it down for you. Most $30 flashlights are IPX8 or better, therefore at this price point it should be too. Go waste your money if you want I don’t care
I was looking for this exact review!
Glad to help hope it answer your questions
What about the Surefire Stiletto? Or Stiletto Pro?
This light looks like a neat concept but appears to only make sense set up to run it in your right hand. The switch is on the left hand side of the body which compromises your grip in your left hand. Also, I can't imagine this light working well at all with a [p]istol in your other hand. Tail switch is ideal. Heck, Mag Lite's even fit the bill better here IMHO.
I don't think it's a bad light. I think it has some flaws and is a bit gimmicky. It's pretty bright and scores a few points for being rechargeable.
I’m trying to decide between this and the Microstream usb.
Micro stream is significantly smaller, but this one is really fun to carry it does give a lot of punch for short run times.
Not having that dust cover huge mistake. All I can envision is taking that to work and a spark or some slag hits it it’s done.
I keep this light in my coat pocket. I love the slim profile and 1k lumens. I wish I knew how much capacity the battery has, though.
Put some duct tape on the end USB. Looks kinda long for EDC but would fit nicely in an organizer like a leather Viperade type belt system or attach to Molle. What kind of battery is in there? Would be ideal if they shortened it & ran it on AAA.? Thanks Aaron.
