Strengthen the weak points. Going light like this to strengthen the lower back so that when deadlifting with the strict proper form you can go much heavier without the lower back giving out. Love it
My daughter has been going with me Monday-Friday to lift. I’ve been teaching her the old way to do deadlifts. I’m gonna try this next week. Thanks Mike!
Makes perfect sense. Your body moves in so many ways so training smart and using those movements in weight training strengthens the weak points which makes everything else way stronger and keep you from getting injured, and keep your mobility. Like the old saying goes, use it or lose it.
@@Greeceforever9774 Is Mike'o'hearn a great bodybuilder? Yes! Does he have some good tips for building muscle? Definitly! But when you make some people believe that this kind of physique is obtainable naturally i think he should be called out about his use everywhere he goes. His whole carreer is based on a lie and we all know it! If he was honest about it I would have a shit ton of respect for him. building this amount of muscle need an insane amount of dicipline steroids or not
This farm girl was doing dead lifts with rale ties this morning . I hauled and lifted 8 onto my tractor forks. Yes, and haybales, and hauled water buckets from the creek, fence fixing and the list goes on. Thank you Mike for recognizing ranch folks power and strength. Did I mention I’m 59??? I’m also one of 10 kids. 💕 I just keep getting better. Best shape of my life. Love your videos 👍
Core training is essential. Multiangle approach is a facet of this philosophy though progressive overload should be slow for some movements like this. I genuinely appreciate Mike's integration of power movements with isolation. I was a follower of Mr. Chuck Sipes as a kid and witnessed his 570 bench...amazing.
THAAAAAAANK YOU for posting this. I already knew it intuitively but was put always back in the "fixed" form by trainers, but got badly stiff and crampy. It (the locked form) hurt my back more than it benefitted.
What’s interesting is that I had mentioned something about stretching and how people don’t stretch enough in the powerlifting and bodybuilding areas. Or just in general people don’t stretch enough. I mean stretch your legs. I know it’s important but I didn’t realize how important it was. I’ve hurt my back by three or four times dead lifting and squatting, and I came to realize after three or four years of not powerlifting that I am so tight in my legs. From my calves to my quads hamstrings and glutes they are so tight. I’ve been stretching for two years straight. And every day I have to stretch. I used to work out six days a week hit every body group twice a week, I did legs every day, but I didn’t stretch correctly. Eventually I hurt my glute extremely bad it’s still bad till today like five years later, I hurt both of my knees without even trying, and I’ve hurt my groin in the past as well. What I do now is I stretch my legs like I’m trying to become Jean-Claude Van Damme. I stretch my quads one leg back one leg forward laying on my back I stretch my hamstrings I sit at a L, with my legs him when he back, one knee back, and that stretches my hip. When I first did it it always popped my hip. Now it doesn’t pop my hip as much it’s just I can’t put my head on the ground or on my knee and stretch it all the way. I can’t emphasize the importance of strength and flexibility. If your power lifter I recommend doing taekwondo or something

Amazing video I’m definitely going to do this tomorrow for my back day love it fantastic also happy birthday Mona you’re amazing hope you had a wonderful celebration of your day coming into the world love you guys :-)!
The only dangerous thing here is when one of the guys pulled with a supinated hand and bent his arm, high risk of biceps tear. Train it pronated or use straps if you’re grip is not strong enough.
I've ALWAYS naturally deadlifted this way and why I ended up pulling 275kg at comp no prob and never injured my back from all the training. Tightness is normal but I must say that it is very important your opposing muscles to your back (your core) are trained and strong. A weak core and maxing out your deads = higher chance of injury.
Still, he is a hell of a great bodybuilder with extensive knowledge and practice. He deserves credit and respect, because he earned it. Even if he is supplementing himself…okay but the strategy, determination and had work has to be there just as much as in any other case. If you had so much on stake in terms of contracts with companies, therefore your life that you actually built, you would do the same. The law states that companies cannot sell or promote harmful products, or promote people who use them. The problem is that Steroids are harmful when used by shitheads who don’t know what they’re doing. These are not that harmful when used by professionals under supervision. That’s my three cents.
Been doing strength training for two years now and have lifted over 4 million pounds. Never felt better in my life. Wish I started forty years ago 😉... Everything Mike's saying here about general strength is right including nutrition. Sugar is kryptonite to me now.

alllllll. about leverages. biomechanics. and limb length once again. if you have short legs. and a LONGER torso...your already in a disadvantageous position. and you won't be deadlifting right regardless your training

When you look at it, the lumber area is still locked, and tight. It's the thoracic area of the spine that's curved, but looking at the lats, they're still supporting the torso, and with the relatively light weight, risk of injury is reduced. The only thing that could go wrong, is others interpretation of this variation, and using too much weight, and poor technique.
