Steve, you're grinning like the proverbial "Cheshire cat!" Hope Chester left you some lumber for your own internal wall framing!
Hahahaha this is accurate!
They done an awesome job on the frame work and looking forward to more videos!
Good looking house Steve. Make sure you get a good roofer. Where your garage with the double doors meets the main house is going to have a lot of water funnel down to that narrow opening. I have seen people screw those up pretty bad. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build. Thanks
Looking good!
It takes experience and persistence to work through the cold.
Take care.
I was thinking you needed Mr that ain't right to come do a peak 😂😂😂😂
Hahahahaha I think he would be pleased!
Great Job Chester and crew! Way to power through the weather.
They did an awesome job! Thank you!
Wow! It's really coming along. You are right about those interior walls.... For me, I could never get enough space for the files/filing cabinets. I had 3 HUGE lateral filing cabinets and I still felt like I didn't have enough space. Maybe I just was too much of a hoarder... or maybe I didn't purge the files often enough, IDK. I saw those spaces you pointed out and immediately I'm thinking - perfect place for one of my lateral file cabinets... lol. Thanks for sharing these time lapses with us. I'm loving the progress reports every so often. It's going to be beautiful!!
Especially coming from our current house where we don’t have enough space and storage, I want to take advantage of every square inch of space I can hahaha
nice house, great framers !
Thank you!
Very nice framing work! House looks amazing already and it is on framed.
Steve, I can't imagine the cost of someone building a home these days! Your video and home being built is awesome.
Just can't imagine the cost and expense of materials in today's market. In 1983, at 26 years old I BUILT My home that I now still own. I had a contractor dig the foundation, a block layer build the basement walls. I built a 28×40 ranch MYSELF on weekends and after work. Finished to livibile conditions to move in in 3 months. The total cost for me to complete,...$29,000 counting block work, concrete basement and excavation. Granted its only 1100 sq ft. At 44years old, my home is payed for.(18years) I LOVE what you have, but can't imagine the cost these days to build a home! Especially when you're paying for labor and materials at 2024 prices! You say, you want to do some interior walls and whatever, Sheesh, you gonna have the time?
There is Sooo much more still to do!
I love what you have, the ambition, knowledge, and fortitude! Stay healthy, strong, and committed. Not only for your ideas and work, but also for you're Family. They need you, and you definitely need Rachel to hold you up. I truly know.!
You had a very good crew working on your house. It’s truly unbelievable how fast you got it under roof. It’s a beautiful house. Great video! 👍🏻
They were awesome to work with! Thank you!
Looks like it going to be a tremendous house !
Great framing crew. Here in Ohio it’s hard to find good framers. Our framers wasted more lumber having to redo walls than they put up it seemed. We were lucky to get Amish finish carpenters. You’re right they are hard workers. It was 92 degrees out and they hung cabinets, built stairs, framed doors and windows all in one day on a 2500 sqft house.😮
It was awesome working with Chester and his guys!
Wow….can’t believe they got all that done. Looks great.
They are extremely impressive! Thank you!
Oh my, this is going to be an amazing home. What a nice journey, and to have videos of the building will be great to look back on as your years go by...
Thank you very much!
I like that you were smart in using all the attic space. In the Washington Metro area that's a million-dollar home.
Thank you!
Man, Steve, you dang near had me tearing up when you were expressing your love for Rachel. Well actually I had sawdust in my eyes, I think. Lol. Looking really good, man. I love watching this process. I know we will enjoy the rest of it. Thanks.
Awesome looking job guys 👌 👍
Thank you!
Fantastic progress...... what a crew.
Thank you!
Now that's a house! Looking good!
Thank you!
Looks unreal! Congrats fella
Thank you!
No trusses, interesting. Good progress, a house across the street from me burned in 2020, a year later they tore it down. A year after that they poured a foundation and some months later they started framing. It sat for a year after framing was done but no roof or siding or windows and doors. Just bare plywood. This past summer they did some siding and windows & doors. Finally the roof this fall, like about 2 months ago. They are doing some interior stuff now.
That’s interesting, I wonder why they did that?
@@GunpowderandFreedom No idea, budget maybe? It was plywood and not OSB, but still it was looked black and weathered when they finally got to doing the siding and then some windows. And it's coastal WA.
Steve, I’m so happy for you it looks amazing how long before you get windows and doors so it’s all dried in
The windows will be in on Wednesday and we are currently shopping for doors haha
Wow! These framers are kickin Ass!
I can’t imagine how fast they would be if they had nice weather lol. 😁
They certainly are!
It's going to be so nice .! Kudos to everyone that has contributed to this build 👍🏻💯
Thank you!
That will be a beautiful home for you and your family. Very happy for you. I enjoy seeing hard (Young) workers reap the benefits. 👍💪🥇
Plywood or OSB? Yeah, watching toward the end you pointed at OSB but said “plywood”. You’re a builder, so you gotta use the proper vernacular! 😂
That framing crew is amazing. They sure did great work. So happy for your family Steve.
Thank you!
Wow your house is awesome. Congratulations. I am enjoying watching the progress.
Thank you very much!
I'd say your battery is dying because of the extreme cold. Build an insulated box to put everything in, with a small hole for the camera to film thru. You could even put some heat packs inside the box. But, I could be completely wrong!!!
Mike Holmes is who you were thinking about. Mr. Do it Right
Hahaha that’s him!
We are very happy for the progress you are making. Keep up the videos.
Thank you very much!
We took our grandchildren on the Christmas Express in Hollidaysburg too. It was a great day. We went on Black Friday. Such a busy area that day.
We had a lot of fun there!
Great video
Thank you!
Topped out already? Incredible! At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if you're dried-in next week.
These guys are awesome!
Thanks for the update, Steve! All is looking good👍 Is that a road/driveway coming down the hill is some of your footage, or maybe a .... ski slope 🤔 Have a day!
GOOOOOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!…very impressive & Big!!
Thanks for sharing
Have a day
Thank you very much!
Need to use the correct terms Steve.
Your using OSB (oriented strand board) not plywood. Good choice! More stable than plywood.
You have hand framed rafters, not trusses.
Might be well worth your $/time to have the crew finish the framing. They can get it done in a day or so. You can make more $ doing what you excel at. But I get it that you want to get your hands on some of the work yourself. (I've done the same)
House is looking great & yes, they are a good framing crew!
I've worked on a lot of houses I apprenticed on multi-million dollar houses. They do really nice framing.
They certainly do!
I see a job for you Steve burn barrel! You’d keep them warm and clean scraps at the same time saving you some money!
Hahahaha I could have been the best burn barrel guy!
Being from New Wilmington we know you can not beat a Amish crew only time they stop is to have there two fifteen minute breaks and a lunch break otherwise they are working
They were great to work with!
Very nice framing job.
I will go so far as to say exceptional.
Coming from PA its nice to see good framers again who know how to frame a roof with conventionally cut rafters.
Here in Florida you never see that, its all roof trusses.
Ive not talked to a framer here who has ever worked with cut rafters.
My own house here has a complicated roof and we cut our own rafters.
Neibor is a builder and he couldnt believe how that was done.
So what is your connection with the concrete guy from Maine?
There are tons of houses here that are framed with trusses but I knew we would be finishing the third floor at some point so stick framing rafters was the way to go!
And I’m not sure I know him. Sorry. Thanks for watching!
@ I watch several different channels of concrete shows.
I guess i got the one in Maine mixed up with ( concrete with the Hauses? )
@@ernieforrest7218 hahaha Tom (concrete with the Hauses) is my dad hahaha
@ So i guess the house built a couple of years ago was for a brother?
@ yup, that was my brothers house
Awesome !!
Thanks!!
Interesting that they didn't need to scaffold the whole house.
They are wild hahahaha
It’s gotta almost 4K/ft of just living space. Have you tried to equate what you have now, and fit it inside this shell.👍🏼
7 D windows, Degol family.
My lumber came from 84 lumber.
Why didn’t you have the framing crew install the windows?
Yea the inspector is getting the ones where they are building homes to be sold once finished, not so much like yours.
Ya, that’s true
Don't burn barrel theyre pork chops Gable lookouts and rafter tails. I named things so I knows I know stuff.
Hahaha
