I built a 640 sq ft tiny house in my backyard over the course of two years. I published 30 videos of the construction, totaling alomst 7 hours of video. I edited down those 30 videos into this start to finish "super cut", running about 2 hours and 45 min long. Hope you enjoy! If you'd like to purchase plans for the tiny house, click here: craftedworkshop.com/store/not-so-tiny-house-building-plans
I watched the whole series, and also watched this whole video. It was inspiring 🎉
Great job! It is nice to have private accommodations for guests.
Oh man… I just finished the 2 hour video of all the new dream workshop video….
And now I see this almost 3 hour long video… I dig it.
Subscribed for that long ass video content, I enjoy it
Absolutely love that you sound proofed the interior walls. Wish builders did this more frequently. Love the video, and love to see the Perkins Brothers help out
Agreed. I have no idea why people don’t insulate inside walls, especially the bathroom & laundry.
Glad you enjoyed it! I wish our main house had soundproofing insulation, especially between bedrooms. I think it's an absolute must!
Insulating interior walls can cause moisture problems, I think that's probably why it's not done very often.
I did not know i wanted to watch someone build a house from start to finish, but now here we are
Glad you enjoyed it!
im building a tiny house in my backyard this video is very helpful but a little overkill for me, u guys are too good
The perfect supercut to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon
I like how you can now easily tell the rough date of videos on YT based on mask-usage
Hah, it feels like a bit of a time machine looking back at this now! My wife was 8 months pregnant when I started this build so I was definitely being extra cautious.
Thanks for posting a ‘start to finish’ project video, I was not able to keep up on this project - I got to see it all here 😊
I wish I spent my
Life learning skills like this. This must be so satisfying seeing it come together
I rarely watch a whole house build, but you are a perfectionist. I appreciate your efforts.
I heard about this project from the Perkins Builder Brothers channel, and watched the entire video. That is a really awesome guest house!!!
Oh, this is a sweet recycle. Thanks. 2:46:18 of your impeccable content. I consider you, Seth, and Perkins to be a triumvirate of you tube production. The style is quite effective.
Thanks a bunch, Tony!
What a pleasure it is to watch experts at work! Great video!
What a crew. Alex, you legend! It's really good to see professional builds on YT, there is so much bad info on here. Quality stuff.
Thanks a lot!
Been waiting weeks for your videos, this was worth it. Haven’t event watched it all and I know. Love these long videos
Hope you enjoyed it!
I’m fine with it being late but it was crazy to see Jamie with all 10 digits
If you want to make your kitchen cabinet installation a whole lot easier, just replace the drywall section where the cabinets are going with the same thickness of plywood. this way you can run the screws anywhere you need to. I even go so far as to mark locations of wires and pipes right on the plywood as you will never see anything after the cabinets go up. You will want to make sure the kitchen floor is level. If it has any rise or drop you will want to find the highest point and find the level from there. I either shim if the base gap is close or scribe cut the toe kicks to match the drop.
Another fix that will save your butt down the road is to caulk the interior base joint of the sink base cabinet and drop in a sheet of linoleum that you spray glue into place. This way if anything is spilled or drip the wood will be totally protected. It will protect against stains from the chemicals stored there as well.
All the haters...sheeeesh. I personally LOVE the super cut videos like you did with the shop build. I watch all of the individuals for that AND the super cut, because I enjoy your content!
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm new to the channel so having it all compiled into one is super nice
Feel the same way bud.
love to see the Perkins Brothers help you out. I watch them all the time. Love the video
Huge tip, when you run a pull lline make sure you connect a new one at the other end when you pull the cables through. This way if you ever have to run another cable you already have a pull line ran for future access/use.
Great video! Let the haters hate.
Thanks, appreciate it!
Hell of a supercut, well done
Thanks man!

You can also try lemon juice. No more ruined tape measures😊
Absolutely professional....only reason I joined❤
Your long videos are the best!! Keep up the great work 👍🏻
ΑΗhhh!!!The Covid years....What a time to be alive...Nice video btw
That never happened in FL so I can’t relate 🤣
Impeccable work with precision. I really liked it..., it was very inspiring. I will take this model into consideration.., for my tiny house. Awsome built.., congratulations.
This is the most well built, stick frame, small home I’ve seen. From beginning to end, everything was done right and there were no shortcuts. I’m curious how much all the materials cost during construction. Its obvious experience is necessary during certain components of construction. I watched the entire video out of shear curiosity for what it actually takes to build a decent home.
Thanks so much! I really put a lot of thought and effort into the build and am really happy with how it turned out. I've got a video on some of the rough costs but honestly didn't keep an exact tally.
You built an in-law suite with more comforts than home! I'm jealous.
1:47:42 one issue your insulator guys created was not cutting the soundproofing foam and inserting the wires into it, by putting it behind the wires like that the wires compress the foam which reduces its R value per inch of material AND reduces the insulation depth from the drywall to the wiring cutout to 0, because it pushed the insulation away from there.
awesome video, and an excellent job you did, very hard working...I would really like to see someone make an Amish tiny house just to note how different it would be to modern houses...
All these terrible comments and im excited to see the entire series i missed sections of condensed to a wonderfully edited masterpiece 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Running the gamut of tool quality going from Hart to Sawstop there.
One way to remove 'permanent' marker (from the tape for instance) is to take the marker and write over the same marks before and then use a rag to wipe off the marks.
un abbraccio dalla Sardegna complimenti per il lavoro con maestria e professionalita' veramente un capolavoro
Love that y’all used hart tools. I was wondering if there good for beginners or a waste of money and I’m seeing its usefull and suprisingly efficient to the experienced.
So beautiful. And a super nice income property
Thanks! It's not a rental for us but would be perfect for that purpose.
Lovely job as per usual gents 👌🏽
Thank you!
i wonder if you could install a spice rack within the filler strip crevice at 2:39:00?
- where it could be set on slide brackets, then slide in and out as needed, could also maybe put cooking knives within
I am seeing this video way after the original post so I’m hoping you can still see this. I love this project and I enjoyed the complete project in one video thank you for your hard work! My question was whether or not you ever shared the cost of this project? I live in North Carolina and I am looking to do something very similar as a tiny home for my single parent daughter to live, ultimately this would then become a retirement home for my wife while my daughter moves into the main house. Thanks for any information!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Love your toilet choice
Hey, I arrived on a November 9th! Congrats on the kid!
Oh my goodness...what can I say....your ideas for this beautiful "tiny house" is amazing ❤❤❤ thank you. I appreciate your videos ❣️❣️❣️
It mental watching this as a Brit how incredibly simple American house building is. No brick work and almost like a kit build 😂😂 good video tho really entertaining
Yea, our abundance of lumber definitely makes building simpler!
Your wu-tang woodwork shirt is just everything! Love it!
Morels in the backyard for a snack too. Noice
There may be an issue with the vent ridge. As it is a shallow pitch roof. When there is a wind driven rain. It may be blown through the venting into the home. As I have repaired 100's of homes with similar products. It may look nicer than box vents. So it may be wise to keep an eye on it.
Well this is a rather enjoyable watch
looking good!
Yoooooooooo Johnny!!! This came out so freakin Dope Bud!!1 At work & just watched every min. of this video!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed!
cool project, love the modern look inside
Thanks!
So beautiful
I used to have a bleed off valve on the cap, when the ball got to the end of the hose, I could drop the ball out soft and gentle. Instead of blowing concrete everywhere.
Loved the part about how not to set tile lol
good stuff though man
When using the sausage inserts, all you need to do is punch several holes, maybe 5-10, into the end of the tube and it’ll come out fine. No need to cut the tip off.
🎉wonderful good job experience everyone ❤❤ loved the vents the windows and big sliding doors enjoyed this video working together heck yeah gbu all 🎉 love peace ✌
Damn, I was going to watch like 10 minutes but ended up watching the whole damn thing!
That's awesome, hope you enjoyeD!
Fantastic
If you hammer-drilled into the concrete piers before they reached their full four week curing time, you pobably compromised and weakened the concrete's design strength. This is why most builders set threaded "L" shaped anchor bolts into the concrete immediately after it's poured, just before it sets. Sometimes the "L" shaped anchor bolts are even welded or tie-wired to the internal rebar. That way, the concrete design strength isn't compromised/weakened, and they can continue building after the concrete has cured for one week. The full building load should not be applied to the concrete until it has cured for four weeks, or until it has reached its minimum design strength (most common design strength for concrete for residential is 3,000 PSI) (concrete used for roadwork is a soecial faster curing concrete with a high design strength to handle eoad loads while it is still curing). To measure cured strength, 6" Dia by 12" long test cylinders can be cast. "test cylinders" can be cast for testing. Typically, four test cylinders are cast, tested at 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and four weeks. All four cylinders cure for the first week in a protected area undisturbed on-site. Then at 1 week, they are removed from their molds, 1 cylinder is capped perfectly flat on both ends with a compound and tested in a machine applying pressure end to end until the concrete fails. The remaining test cylinders are stored in a temperature controlled envuronment at 100% humidity (concrete cures through a process called Hydration. Once concrete begins to set, it cures to strength best when kept at 100% humidty. If it dries out before its four week curing time, it will never cure to full strength). Often, properly mixed, transported, handled, finished concrete cures at its design strength earlier than 4 weeks, sometimes the cylinder tested at 3 weeks shows it cured to design strength. Conditions like freezing temperatures, to much water, or rapid dehydration during curing on the pour site can permanently compromise curing to design strength. Sometimes it's just delayed longer than 4 weeks. Sometimes the mix is bad and the first 3 week tested cylinders show slow curing. Delaying testing of the 4th cylinder can confirm design strength li ater, perhaps at 5 to 7 weeks. I've seen full sections of 8 to 11 cubic yards of concrete ripped out of a build because the test cylinders from a particular mix truck never cured to design strength.
Typically, test cylinders are only used for commercial buildings, not residential. However, more qnd more professional builders and architects are demanding it on their residential projects. When not using test cylinders, at best, it's a guessing game, and for best results and odds of noncompromised concrete, it's best to adhere to one week undisturbed cure time before any load on curing concrete during construction, and a full 4 week curing time before design loads, keeping the concrete hydrated at high humidity without having it under standing water.
It's amazing that only recently scientists and engineers are discovering why ancient Roman concrete is so much more resilient than modern concrete. The secret is, they used sea water, ash, and Quick Lime, "hot mixing" to create a Reactive Calcium component to the mix. Deposits of Calcium Carbonate remain in the "cured" concrete, so any time the concrete absorbs humidity, it activates the Reactive Calcium and it continues to "cure". It self-repairs any gradual damage, weakness and cracks it incurs. Essentially, it really never stops "curing", curing is only temporarily suspended periodically.

Back in the 80’s my parents brought a home with one side had houses in a circle neighborhood. One house didn’t like our headlights going into his back windows. He decided not to get a property survey but find the property markers by himself. He couldn’t find them and used a utility pole thinking it was the all properties. This neighbor used a metal detector to find two out of three property pins on the highway to the other road next to his neighbor. He started to build his fence half way in our gravel driveway. Mom stopped him dad said should had finished the fence cost him more money. What happen build the fence without hiring a property survey. Build the fence over to his neighbor backyard plus planted two small pine trees. Making the neighbors property much bigger.
Very nice build however regardless of the zip board I wonder why you didn’t use synthetic felt and button caps under the shingles
how can you check for leaks before pressurizing the line? @1:20:00 What would be leaking if it isn't pressurized?
@1:23:00
you can't check for leaks if it isn't pressurized.
Very good video for a lazy Sunday. The random beeps throughout the video made me think my smoke detectors needed new batteries :-)
Looking good man. Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat at WBC
Do you have termites in your area, and if so, what precautions did you made to stop them eating your new house.
I love your choice of Hart tools, over the past year or two I have made that my brand they are priced Right and they really do the job, in my mind one brand One battery, not like it used to be with this that and the other brand and all kinds of different chargers and all kinds of different batteries so very cool love that chainsaw
Use scissors to cut the tip off Erik 😂😂😂
Amazing - how much did it cost to build?
Great video enjoyed that apart from the wood floor that was painful to watch
Enjoyed the video! Thank you! May we assume your favorite word is “SUPER”?
I never saw it. But I assume that you did insulate the floor. That’s pretty important.
Is that FENIX on the cabinets? They look awesome!
WOW!
amazing
Very interesting viewing. You are calling it tiny but it is a good size. The round holes that are put up under the roof for ventilation, do they have a screen or something to prevent animals eg bats or possums for making a home in your roof space
Love the videos . One question ,why don't you just put in blocks to wall studs and floor joist stay straight ?
Here I was, running vids in the background while I work, and then I hear this video going. Tab over thinking I recognize this voice, I don't recognize the channel, but I swear these guys sound like the Perkins Brothers... Well got another channel to sub and watch now.
Hah, nice! The Perkins guys are good buddies of mine, they helped a ton on this build! Check out my shop renovation if you want more with the Perkins : ruclips.net/video/iscl5jc6bbg/видео.html
@@craftedworkshop I just finished watching the workshop vid last night. I'll be following your channel more closely for future vids. Keep up the great content
@@Rockerpeller-hr8lv thanks a lot!
In Europe we don’t do that kind of roofing ventilation. Waste of space and by ventilating the interior you could just insulate the roof. And no floor insulation? But very satisfying to watch! Thx
In europe we don't do this and we are wrong. Prove of this, nowadays we are trying to do some form of ventilation (also like this one) in new buildings to improve efficiency. And he did floor insulation whit spray foam ;)
Heck yeah
All very well done with good detail.
That must be the US version of a "tiny house" ? 😅
Because that is NOT a tiny house.
Awesome......btw what was the cost for the complete construction?
About how much did the house portion cost excluding the patio
How were the wood from lowes? Many knots, and bowed? I'm doing take off material list for my 24x28 addition and currently have an estimated wood estimate of $5k from Home depot. I'm guessing lowes may be similar.
thumbnail had me in the belive of an xxxxl minecraft world edit
I agree
Is the drainage from the tiny to the mains just gravity flow? Or is there a sump? If so what kind? Great video thanks! 2:05:51
Just gravity, thankfully the slope of our yard worked out well to get the tiny house connected to the main sewer line.
I worked for a trex decking company and we never allowed room for expansion. I’m curious what those decks look like now 😂
Great video. 🙌 Curious though how you leak tested your linesets before actually charging them? 🤔
Good
Im absolutely building this please
2:03:25 Nicely water proofed 😅
You tested for leaks on an uncompressed system...? What was going to leak? Once you gassed it yeah but before has got me baffled.
The lines are pre-charged with refrigerant. This is one of the specific details of these MRCOOL DIY systems.
@@craftedworkshop How is it precharged when you have it in 2 pieces. The compressors precharged that what you do when you open the valve, letting the gas into the pipe. The copper pipe is just a pipe, it won't leak with nothing in it 😂 you literally had the end open on it to join it to the next piece...
You needed to vacuum the lines then test for leaks using the extra fitting on the valve, after no leaks remove the vacuum then open the gas on the condenser. Where's the gas stay when you have 2 open ends joining them?
I cannot find the plan drawings in description
The glass doors look awesome, but aren't they backwards as the slider Glass is suppose to be inside to keep burgulars from lifting them out
They couldn't be lifted out while closed and locked. This is the way these OXXO doors are designed, there's only one way to install them.
For anybody who is asking, this was recorded during the pandemic.😊
in Indiana fire foam is NEVER allowed, my building inspector saw I had used it and tore of a chunck of it took my outside and lite it with his lighter, it burst into flames, it was like adding an accerant to those holes. so i scraped all of the foam out and bought fire caulk
Setting blocks without cement they are not afraid that that's going to shift?
What the permit cost
Dude what headphones are you using?!
