Loved this comparison! Very well done! Playing them side by side helped me make my decision! Ordered the Martin D-12e, even though I love the look of the 13e.
Thanks for the video. While I prefer the 13's rosette, I like the 12's tuners. I suppose the back and side wood is a matter of opinion. Some love the mahogany-like quality of the sapele, while others prefer the rosewood-esque siris. My D12E sang to me in the store, and I have loved it ever since!
Agree the 12 sounds better. This guy does a great job comparing the two...he doesn't interject his opinion...I do like the way the 13 looks...but enjoy hearing the 12 more.
Super helpful for me as I am looking for a travel guitar and I am convinced the Martin D10E is the way to go! Thanks for helping me make this decision easier.
To me the 12 has a more open, rounded full tone. The 13 has more of a compressed tone with the lower mids and higher low end scooped. the 13 would be great for vocal accompaniment . Both over all deliver the classic Martin tone. Great video !
I think you'd really like the sound of the GPC-13E which has solid Mutenye BnS with a solid Spruce Top. That particular wood has a decent chime to it, almost akin to Rosewood, but a bit less sparkly.
I have a d 13e and i am very happy for the guitar. Sounds amazing and feels like high quality instrument. On this video i like better the sound of d12e damm🙃. I like your videos. Regards from Danmark🎸
Vladimir Velenderic thanks man .. all the guitars on my channel are setup so the tone and playability are optimum And will effect the total outcome of the Recording
I thought the 12e was best although both very good. The 12e more balanced and fuller and 13e less lows. Tell me what you heard being in the room playing. Thanks 😊
A Martin is made to project the sound balance. My 13 does just that. Its has depth. I use 10"s but use 2 lighter bottom strings. Otherwise its to bassy. I dont have strong hands so lighter strings for me. Also, your pick gauge has big effect on the sound. Mine is beautiful and sparkly. Brought to a very professional acoustic luthier. Doing for his whole life almost. Had neck and action setup for lowest action. You can listen to videos and read comments, but everyone that plays my guitar wants to buy a Martin after playing it they like it so much. I tell them, you need to have a pro go over your guitar if you love it and going to be playing it. The whole setup affects the tone-sound. Most are just playing the way they bought it.
Bought a d12 today . I played the d13 and the d12 side by Side for about an hour at the Guitar and ended picking the d12. Just sounded better. Even played a little better.
For my opinion, D12 is much warmer, but D13 is brighter and lyric. D12 is better for fingerpicking because it have more balanced strings, but D13 is so beautiful and poetic while strumming it. If I have to choose between them I´d pick D12 because I need that balance while I´m fingerpicking but If I could play on both of them it would be fantastic, or in an acoustic duo let D13 to be strumming guitar, and D12 to be solo and fingerpick it would be marvelous really God bless.
Hi Jarvis, I hope you are well. Do you have the new 000-10e full sapele in for a review? It would be interesting how it compares to the full Mahagony 000-15m. I cant decide between the two, because the 15m is 1000€ more.
The 13 is slightly louder and richer but to a average player this won’t matter don’t know why the d12 is more money than d13 at my local music shop but they literally have 0 stock these guitar will get rarer and rarer

Very informative, thank you . My ears preferred the D12E but both sounded excellent with your playing! you are a clever man.
Thanks

I have these two as my main players for the road and love them. I don’t take my 18 or 28 on the road
D12E for me. Very informative video, thanks!
for my ears, d12 sounds more better, the guitar sounds more lossen up, the 13 sound more tight, or may be its just me, 12 sounds more like a martin😊
Nice job man! Thank you for the class on scalloped and non-scalloped!!!
Great comparison! Many thanks Jarvis!
D13E for finger style guitar and the D12E for overall playing.
Excellent review! Very helpful in making my decision to go with the D-12E because it sounds more well-balanced than the D-13E . Thank you!

maybe that 12 has been played way more and now its open

The D12e is definately the better one. Thanks for the comparison. Well done!

I really want the 13e. Looks nice. But while listening, my impression is that the 12e actually sounds nicer.
@@gimmebackmydog1249 the d10 is the same has the d12 just satin and its 600$ cheaper

Keep reviewing 👌
Watching from 🇸🇦
sure
Finger picking and strumming particularly with capo D-13E is way better than D-12E.
Hi Jarvis, love your videos. What one would be better for playing and singing on my own at home? The D12 or the D13?
I would go for 12
Hi brother, I need a guitar for Church worship. What martins do you recommend?
d10, d12, d13 or d15? I cannot go above 15 series.
D13 if u still need it
d 45
@@soofitnsexy that would be fine if your church is in the oil fields of Texas and you have a coupe or more oil wells

I think he has a review for the 000-10e sapele one here ruclips.net/video/rRN4oqrT1kE/видео.html
I think they have this backwards been playing 55 years I prefer the D12 to the D13 it has a better sound
The number does not mean better lol its just the finish d10 is satin sepele d12 gloss sapele same guitar d13 gloss siris d11 only gloss top

D 12 e has scalloped x cross braces
Are any of these a good alternative to a martin d28 or a d35?
Yamaha LL16
The real deal is still D28 or d35 ...
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Would the yamaha be good since I'm on a budget?
@@TheAtomBat yes that is a good choice
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore So now I'm stuck between a martin d15m and yamaha... What's better for bluegrass and Johnny Cash style playing?
D12
