    I have a feeling that now with this recent type of communication, we are one step closer to experiencing life from another person. Quite literally, you could be in one's own body in just two hundred years.

      Well I've known them being able to do both for a while separately, so doing both together isn't really hard, but that being said when I learned about being able to effectively input into someone's brain with a magnet is cool and when I heard people had wheel chairs they can move with their mind I also thought that was cool. I even saw someone use the same magnet technology to make someone raise their arm involuntarily ^_^

      Okay so this is step 1. Next, they'll be able to do this without requiring some crude e-mail workaround. Then they'll be able to transmit more data at a time, instead of just single 1s or 0s. Then that's going to be transmitted wirelessly. And after that, I'm sure even more will be done. Even though telepathy exists now, we can still not look into the future, so all we can do is wait for the next big step (or help them make that step, of course :P)

    This reminds me... Somebody's EEG is on the Golden Record on voyager 1 and 2. Some of humanity's greatest thoughts are on that record, the power of science, the magic of reality, and the euphoric emotions of a someone in love.
    So even if humanity never makes it to the stars, our ambassadors will still be moving out into the galaxy, waiting for another civilization powerful enough to read our thoughts...

  • @xanokothe
    @xanokothe 10 лет назад +3

    Actually what everyone is missing is that if you can read data from the brain and sent is thought a cable, you can actually "record" these tought and play it back later. In other words, you could make a virtual reality with real feedback, Matrix for instance..

    I often use telepathy in games when I want to gain some advantage/play more serious but overall you usually eat/drink while playing and listen to music and telepathy seems like a waste of energy there.. but it's good if you're doing something important so that you don't get distracted by others, telepathy the future... or them before doing an action in order to avoid mistakes.

    Brain to brain networking is possible without equipment. It can be done by understanding to other persons situations and how that would translate into external processes. For example if I saw a picture of something that would influence things such as movement which means if someone else understood how that image influenced my movement they would be able to work out what image I looked at. You can try this with someone you are very simile to, for me this would be my uncle because we are almost exactly the same: you then need to think about something they have seen that you haven't and then put yourself in there situation, then look or listen to them and try and determine what about that would have been influenced and then transfer this into a educated guess. This is how you do it.

      I wouldn't worry too much about that- you are discounting human will. And everybody's brains are differently. People who have brain damage other parts have taken up the slack. And people are wired differently. I don't think somebody who's non autistic would ever be able to "control" my brain. And brainwashing can happen, but if you talk to hypnotists, it's not Hollywood.

    Fascinating experiment. But could the host in this video should keep his
    scientism-materialist based quips about "magic" being "nonsense" to himself please. There are phenomena that science can't explain, just because it's not "proven" doesn't mean it such phenomena doesn't exist.
    Can you prove dark matter and dark energy exists right in front of my face, show me dark matter?
    Can you prove to me that matter is solid? (hint: it really isn't, see quantum physics)
    Where does matter and energy go once it's pulled into a "black hole"? Does it cease to exist? Does it take on another form in some other dimension? What happens to it? Science is exploring and explaining the nature of ONE layer of "reality", but not the entire totality of "reality" and other layers to the wider "cosmos".

    @sedactive5464 8 лет назад +1

    Sigh why do people always claim something to be something that it isnt. There is a device on the market called emotiv it uses the same principles, lets use an example if i tell someone beforehand that a certain hand gesture means something i can use this to talk to said person.So the video above is exactly doing that it decodes brain waves just like the emotive and gives it meaning so whenever you think/show certain brain waves the external device wich reads it will output the given meaning. This aint some sci fi futuristic shizzle, using words,hand sings or brainwaves isnt really that diffrent only diffrence worth mentioning is speed and convience -.- for instance talking to someone in a group without others knowing that your even talking. So on the end the Title of this movie or of the method used should be A DEVICE THAT TRANSLATES BRAINWAVES INTO LANGUAGE thats all there is to it. Fun fact the reason why people are never 100% on the same wavelenght is because people often have slightly diffrent interpretations but if we can translate 100% the exact meaning of what we think/say,gesture or freaking brainwave to someone else then you can say its telephathy.

    This could have interesting implications for virtual reality. If you could "record" the activity generated when a human performs an activity, and then "play it back" later in someone else's brain. You could basically relive the event. Naturally the first application would be VR porn.

    So let's say in the far future we invent Smartbands (headbands that are basically brain-interface smart phones). You think we've got a texting-and-driving problem _now_...
    Then again, by then all of our cars would probably have auto-driver functions that'd be better than any human driver anyway, so the point's probably moot O.o

    I don't think people get how underwhelming this is! i mean its great that scientist are thinking about telepathy and all those things but all this has been possible for a while, and the method they use for you to make you interpret signals is just a magnet messing with your brain making you see stuff, and if its going to be done that way I would prefer a headphone

    If you can isolate the neurons responsible for moving arms and moving legs then it's not too much of a jump of the imagination to isolate neurons responsible for individual simple concepts such as 'dog' 'cartoon' 'fire' 'electricity' 'particle' 'human' etc., for arguments sake let's say around 150 of these. Place tiny electrodes connected to each of these neurons, which can read the state of them and also excite them. A language built up of different combinations of these concepts that was logically consistent could be designed (already exists to an extent in symbolic languages such as chinese). If two or more people learnt this language and each had these neurons isolated and electrodes in place then it would be trivial to send complex messages between these people with complete conceptual transferrance, which would be pretty fucking cool.
    Just some thoughts.

    • @longalexislong
      @longalexislong 10 лет назад

      I say around 150 because this is the number of radicals needed in chinese to build the majority of characters and henceforth most words. Any thoughts on this from linguists would be greatly appreciated

      They already have humans moving wheelchairs using concepts of right and left forward break backwards etc, no reason they can't extend it to the whole vocabulary, might get harder but technology is always getting better. My favourite thing about science like this, is that unlike teleportation or timetravel we know that it is possible to both enter information into a brain and read precisely what it is doing and thinking, we do it every day, the eye isn't incredibly complicated, even if we can build/grow new eyes for blind people, or mimic them with cameras we know there are mechanisms we can copy of how the eye interacts with the brain, even if the ultimatum of human brains interacting with computers requires another biological interface that won't be a problem, it can be done, it is the most real side of scifi imo because of this, lazer guns not feasible or practical but virtual reality games/training for driving, piloting, even surgery, all with no screen and no joystick, professions will rise to. a new standard leaving room for more science and the effect snowballs ^_^

      This is the first step to mimicking the system we already use, once upon a time people said the same about farming, we already had farming without machines, but they just have the potential to do everything better, and one day when you can just think to your wife etc and talk to them without having to hold a phone or make any noise so you could do it in a noisy area or a library, that and contact the police anywhere, imagine how low crime would be if you could upload what you are seeing to the police on demand and call them and tell them your location in a split second. Anyone trying to mug people would just be ID'd and caught quickly 100% of the time, being able to communicate with other swat team agents in a raid, or soldiers communicating on the battlefield, although drone and exoskeletons will probably make soldier to soldier communication less needed.

      Depends on the thought. Some thoughts are pictures. You can certainly describe a picture, but being able to simply translate it to another person's mind would be much easier.

    It's already possible to have some low resolution images transmitted to the brain via vision cameras. Wonder if they can copy or transmit consciousness from the brain instead of just only memory. Something like Skynet manages to realise itself in the movie terminator.

      We can achieve something similar (using eyetracking and current eeg tech) where you don't need to move around to interact with the environment, but it wouldn't be very impressive, due to current limitations. For instance, we can probably deduce when you want to move your head using eeg, but can't accurately find the direction and velocities of that movement. We could nudge the virtual head in a general direction, wait for the eyes to reach a fixed position, and then interpolate the virtual head to a target position based on some calculations and data. The competent virtual head movement is only possible because we allow the eyes to move (which we can observe with great accuracy). However, any other movement is nearly impossible to deduce. Forget any kind of hand-interactivity, as with current bci technology, even the most expensive type (MRI) will struggle immensely. You may be able to do some basic forward body movement (akin to pressing [W] in a game on pc), but only with a lot of strain on your mind which has to constantly focus on maintaining that movement.

    I told someone about 2 weeks ago, that the best way i can think of becoming jobless is to invent an AI whereby it can scan the thought process of software engineer or someone who has a web or mobile application in mind, analyse it then generate the project. Of course this is insane because we need to know or understand the neuron patterns are structured and reconstruct for each though and feed it into the computer as binary data. Nevertheless, this is a job of a super computer and need tones of data and case studies.

    my little "brother" Justin and i had only known each other for two months i made him move in with my dad and i because his mother was beating him he was walking don't the street all bloody and so i called the cops and that's when he moved in well anyways one day no drugs what so ever because everyone always ask that. but i went to hug in and in a few min we both saw each others lifes and at that moment became soul brother and sister. my brother Michael i grew up with my whole life we could always read each others minds. my other siblings that lived with my mom can do the same thing with Michael and i. i also have a little brother named peyton who is able to close his eyes and see into other rooms without ever even seeing them. he even told me about my child and my grandma who we never even talked to him about. my daughter Anina my mother and i all have dreams that come true. one of mine for an example was about my dad passing away. we had this bathroom with a window. in it. in my dream i was my dad laying on the street floor looking at the window with the blinds down. that is also where they found him. i also had a few dreams about my brother dying where again i was my brother Michael i always told him about these dreams and how to handle it if my dream dad was to come true so i saved his life a few times. how does this happen if you make a video about this can you please let me know by saying tavia i have an answer for. i watch all of you shows and follow you on test tube. love and thanks

    Ask them about the dream choreographies designed to stress & create false memories. The sub black on black ticker tapes with writing on them, scrolling across the minds eye during sleep's a good one. Direct thoughts, vocalisations in hi-fi from many ppl at the same time, taunting goading name-calling/ identifying/ ascribing guilts/ force-feeding false (pro-narrative) identity& beliefs. etc etc
