As an investing enthusiast, I've kept aside a good sum of capital to invest for financial independence and early retirement, but my concern right now is the market rally being propaganda. Is this a good time to buy stocks, or do I wait for the crash?

    • @RodericksCurrys

The stock market can appear as a bewildering cauldron of fake news for new investors. I would advise using a CFP, giving him/her 2/3, and then investing the 1/3 on your own, but only if you have time to track stocks and educate yourself.

Sarif was right about one thing. It's in our nature to want to rise above our limits. Think about it. We were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools. Every time we met an obstacle, we used creativity and ingenuity to overcome it. The cycle is inevitable. In the past, we've had to compensate for weaknesses, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few. But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again? What if the path Sarif wants us to take enables us to hold on to higher values with more stability? One thing is obvious. For the first time in history, we have a chance to steal fire from the gods. To turn away from it now - to stop pursing a future in which technology and biology combine, leading to the promise of a Singularity - would mean to deny the very essence of who we are. No doubt the road to get there will be bumpy, hurting some people along the way. But won't achieving the dream be worth it? We can become the gods we've always been striving to be. We might as well get good at it.

It is a technology that must happen if we are to survive the coming of AI but we cannot, must not, allow it to be a tool of the corporate and governmental control structure. Open BCI tech, and fostering understanding and ability to construct and use self made bci tech are the only way we can safely and happily survive what is coming.

Imagine being able to converse with another person through someone else. As an example, I'm talking to Joe but Sally who is in a different part of the world is the one placing the thought patterns and retrieving the thought patterns from Joe. So I'm not really talking to Joe, although he acknowledges me, I'm talking to Sally. I now move on to Frank, and Sally continues the conversation. From person to person, Sally continues the conversation. To me, that is the future. It comes down to frequency, and attenuation. Joe says "Hello lovely weather", Frank says " I love the birds chirping", Mandy says " Hows the weather in your house?" Bobby says " The weather here is kind of rough". Your welcome.

That will NEVER happen . To actually read thoughts , no way. That’s what makes us such unique creatures. NO ONE even knows what exactly consciousness is yet and where it is “stored” ... great work , but reading brain waves will never answer our personal thoughts
On top of that, if they did actually do that , it should be goddamn illegal . Even if it’s something as simple as the mind thinking it wants music on , it doesn’t matter , it’s dangerous and it will get in the hands of the wrong people , like everything does ...

Roman Klimenko there is a HUGE difference. A decade ago, I definitely knew and would have bet money that computers/ electronics would advance enough to the level of beating someone in chess. It’s a computer that can easily be programmed to learn the game of chess and learn all the moves systematically, that’s basically the point of a computer hence why there smarter than any mathematician on the planet...
Anyone with a brain knew that computers will eventually be smarter than humans (the evolution of technology was occurring right in front of us), but intelligence and consciousness are two completely different animals...
Building a computer to figure out our thoughts is on a whole new level. And since we can’t even figure out what consciousness is yet, how is anyone expecting us to teach a computer to learn about it . That’s what makes the human species so magical - which is our conscious world

This will be one of the critical, defining technologies of the 21st century. The human brain is an enormously powerful organic computer, but severely limited by weak output. The amount of data transferred by speaking or typing is very low. A direct high bandwidth IO between the brain and computer systems may be one of the few things that can let us keep up with AI. Regardless of the potential ways to abuse the tech, we're going to be in a very bad place in the second half of the century if AGI works and this doesn't. It may be the difference between working with AI or being replaced by AI.

Before we can address advances about reading minds, we must first address the problem - legal & ethical - concerning the ability of augmenting senses, thoughts, memories with Synthetic Neurology. or faked visual stimulus. Or using BCI with integrated neurology to play both sides of a situation (all people involved) using fake neurology augmentation to achieve the objectives of those in the computer systems hierarchy. Like when a person plays games on Xbox, Playstation or Wii and plays both sides - for themselves - determining even how the other fights and who wins or loses. Except using unsuspecting Real People in their Real Lives having Real Impacts. Can't TRUST mind reading when they can attack the mind like a weapon for their covert abuse. And laws don't work. Taking over a person's brain means people have lost touch with Laws, Rights and Common Sense. They operate like anything goes with that weapon.

I think it is an interesting field. However, has anyone asked whether the brain will allow this in a biological sense or are we creating a pandora's box? We are forgoing safety precautions for advancement. Look we know that the cell phone causes cancer where it has been placed close to the ear or mind if you will. What happens when you not only have wireless signals entering the brain but wiring inserted into the brain that is not genetic? I love the idea that we can access data in a positive way. I like the idea of being smart considering I am not very smart at this point. What is the cost of doing this? Will our brains be susceptible to hackers? Will our brains reject the third layer cortex? Will it create a serious viral problem in a biological sense? I don't know. I am not smart enough to know the consequences and I don't think these people are either. Proceed with caution is my advice.
