Love your guys energy! Subscribed to watch more adventures! As a Native of Omaha I have to point out one small detail that is easy to overlook not being from the area. The Crescent Moon Ale House (Awesome place) doesn't claim to be where the Rueben was invented (since it's only been around since 1996 I think, It was concocted at the Blackstone Hotel (Which is now the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel) which you actual look like you're standing in front of around the 14:15 mark of your video or so. Rueben Kulakofsky owned a grocery store and used to play weekly poker games at the hotel and asked for the ingredients to be assembled together for a sandwich. Hope you enjoyed Omaha! Lots more to see!!
Thanks so much Brandon! Yea... That was totally my bad (Matt). I MEANT to say that Crescent Moon was supposedly where the BEST Reuben Sandwich is since it's been voted the best in Omaha... Not where it was created. I'm kicking myself too, because I made sure to do my research ahead of time, but I got my info mixed up after a long day of filming! My apologies, and thanks for correcting it here! And for being kind about it! -Matt
Omaha native here and an SOB (South Omaha Boy) and that is the story of the Reuben I know as well. I don't go downtown for nightlife so it was interesting to see a few things I wasn't aware of. It is impossible to capture Omaha, & NE in a day if you spend most of that time at our zoo because that is an all day stop by itself. AS we sit here in February I will add the zoo is great even during Winter as there is so much to do that is inside, & close together. You can hit the Jungle, Desert Dome/kingdom of the Night, Aquarium, & the Mutual of Omaha building all without being outside for over five minutes. I have nine kids, & the zoo is amazing for getting "outside" when we have cabin fever. There is nothing like the humidity of the jungle, or the heat of the desert to help brighten your mood.
Fellow resident of Omaha, may I recommend to you to get Runza's? I love ranch on most things including Pizza, so whatever you want don't knock it till you try it, Run makes the best ranch🤩!!!! Literally my favorite restaurants.
As a local, watching this video makes me realize how much I take for granted living here. For example the zoo.. its truly an amazing place. Thanks for showing some amazing parts of omaha in this video, and showing that Nebraska is more than cows and corn.
Same here. I havent been to the zoo in 10 years atleast. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize half of it. This makes me realize I need to stop taking it for granted
Being in Omaha my whole life I absolutely love the representation of Omaha in this vlog and am living for the comment section! It's crazy how big of a name we've grown
Not just one park, two other big connected parks in the downtown, and the new mutual of Omaha skyscraper and street carc route, as well as landscaped bridges to connect neighborhoods. Omaha is ditching the car centric vision of other cities and become a pedestrians paradise.
@@AdventuresofMattandNat thank you so much I just feel like everyone hates Nebraska btw some of the animals that you showed when you were at the zoo they were new your lucky!
I'm glad you guys enjoyed your stay in Omaha, It has been a year since then and there are a couple of improvements. 1. Coneflower Creamery was named the best Ice Cream in the U.S. and 2. the downtown riverfront project is about complete and is amazing. Please come back soon for an extended stay, I'm sure you'll find plenty of new things to do.
As a local, I can attest that Matt & Nat made it to many legit Omaha hot spots (heck, you even walked right by my apartment building). Great energy and banter, I'll be subscribing to see more!
No way?! Thats awesome we walked right by! lol 🤣 Thanks so much for watching & for your kind comment, means a lot! We are excited to have you on the adventure with us! 🎉🎉🎉
Being from Omaha our zoo is definitely one of the best. The best thing about being local is having a zoo pass because it can take the whole day to see every single thing Henry Doorly has to offer. My family has made it our mission to go to the top 10 zoos in the US. We've been to six including the top 4 and personally non of them compare to our zoo. (PS the old sea lion exhibit used to be a public swimming pool!) I hope you guys went through the passage way in the Old Market!! The Gene Leahy Mall used to be beautiful especially at Christmas. It's so sad that they removed the sunken River and waterfall. I'm just glad they decided to keep the iconic slides.
Totally agree. Gene Leahy Mall was awesome! I miss the Christmas lights there and even other times of the year. Aksarben is very beautiful during Christmas though, as is midtown crossing down at 30th & Dodge/ Farnam.
It really was impressive! We’ve been to a handful of popular zoos and it and the Columbus (OH) Zoo have been our favs so far! Wow! That’s awesome that they repurposed the old public swimming pool! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!!😊😊

A few fun facts about the zoo: 1) The Desert Dome has different levels of glass tint depending on height. This is to help regulate temperatures so it isn't too hot in the Summer and lets in more sunlight in the Winter to help heat the area. 2) Beneath the Dome, in the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit, if you look closely in the corners you'll see spotlights. These are turned on at night to simulate daytime and flip the animals' circadian rhythms so they are active during the day (There aren't any windows so how would they know) when people are there. 3) The Scott Aquarium is entirely open topped. The reason you can't see anybody up there is because they have extra vents from the A/C that blows lightly on the water to make a bunch of ripples. Every animal that gets introduced to the aquarium goes through a minimum 30 day quarantine before being introduced to the exhibit tanks. 4) In the gorilla exhibit, the small, child level domes were originally meant to be open so kids could shake hands with the gorillas. Partway through construction, someone realized that letting a 400Lb animal grab a child was probably a bad idea. So they put in the plastic domes instead.

Ooo… Salmon Curry sounds delicious! And yes! We did go to the Kingdom of the Nights! It was awesome! But was too dark to film. Thanks so much for watching!😊
Love this video! I’ve been in Omaha my whole life and I LOVE it!! Glad you guys got to check out Little Bohemia and Aksarben, sad the boutiques weren’t open because there are so many hidden gems down there!
Omaha is definitely a great hidden gem city. I love living here! Your video was great and highlighted just a handful of the many things to do in our awesome little city.
Welcome to OMAHA Nebraska THE GOOD LIFE. Been living here all my life for 60 years, Feb 24, 2022. You showed me places I knew nothing about. Now I need to try a Ruben sandwich. Looked good. Thanks for the Tour.
Located not far from Offutt AFB is a place called "Stellas".....If you want one of the best burgers you've ever had, that's the place. Also Dinkers as well. If you have time to make the drive to the SAC museum (which used to be located near base but now outside of town) I'd highly recommend for anyone enlisted or their family. Top 3 in US. Hope you enjoy!
Fun peek at Omaha. I wondered what Inner Rail was, and I live here! 😉 You’ll have to check out Lauritzen Gardens next time and Midtown Crossing during Jazz on the Green Festival in July. Lots of nice wineries nearby. One just south of Omaha is Soaring Wings with a great vista of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy your year of traveling the great USA!
Haha… Isn’t it funny how that happens! Lol… Ooo… Thanks for the recommendation! We’ll have to add those to our list for the next time we’re there! And thanks for watching!😊
If you haven't heard, the riverfront parks, dubbed The Riverfront, is now complete and absolutely stunning. There's also a new science center, Kiewit Luminarium, which also opened right near the river. A must see. Love your channel btw.
Midtown, Downtown, and West Roads Mall are the hot spots. Always check online, The Reader, and galleries for special events. The only decent club in town is the Max. Yes, it is hot and humid in the summer here so bring an umbrella for shade at the zoo.
I actually spent a lot of time at the Crescent Moon as a kid in the 90's lol. My mom worked there so I would watch Disney movies downstairs with other kids. Haven't been there since 2011 though when I turned 21. The Henry Doorly Zoo has a sweet 2 day pass deal where your second day's ticket is discounted heavily. It's worth it considering how much there is to do there. Old Market is a great place to chill and hang out. Relaxing during the day and wild at night. You definitely stayed in the best part of town for tourism. College World Series season also gets crazy and fun. Zoo during the day, baseball at night. Omaha is real wide so there is lots of stuff to the west as well. But then you start hitting chain restaurants and 1000s of interchangeable sports bars. Westroads mall is pretty awesome though. Could have hit up Omaha Steaks and get it right from the source too but that's not a huge deal lol.
Oh, that’s awesome! What fun memories! And that’s good to know about the zoo pass because there is so much to see and do there! We definitely enjoyed our visit. We definitely should’ve hit up Omaha Steaks just to say we did! Maybe next time! Thanks so much for watching, Matt!
I work just a few blocks from the Moon, regular lunch stop. Buffet's house was only a mile or so away from there. Looks like a normal house in a nice neighborhood, so you didn't miss much.
Thank you for the walk down memory lane we lived in Papillion Nebraska from 2005 to 2012. We frequently went to Omaha to the river to a waterfront restaurant to old market and the zoo when our children were younger. I hope you enjoyed it.🎉❤
Yes, contrary to popular belief we actually have running water and electricity in Nebraska. We even hosted the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in 2021 in which I had the esteemed privilege to perform the National Anthem in front of Michael Phelps ✌️🇺🇸
And the College World Series overlaps the Swim Trials. It is hard to get a motel room when both events are going. Your performance definitely is memerable.
The NCAA Div 1 volleyball regionals and final four , basketball regionals. Creighton Bluejay basketball. And of coarse our World Champion, and pound for pound top boxer in the World, Bud Crawford, and his occasional fight here in his hometown. And throw in the Berkshire Hathaway stock convention. And don't forget about the nice casinos right across the river in Council Bluffs .
I go to that zoo once a year and Omaha is amazing place I love it. I live in Sioux City y’all probably drove through that city to get to Sioux Falls that’s in your next video.
I’m from western Nebraska and I really like that you came to Nebraska. It’s a vast difference from omaha (eastern), eastern, and western panhandle. So much to explore here. Thanks for coming!!!

Thanks so much!! Yea, that was my mistake… I MEANT to say that is was the location of the BEST Reuben… not where it was invented. Buy I got my faves mixed up after a long day of filming. Thanks for clarifying though! And thanks so much for watching!😊
Thanks so much, Laura!🥰
I concur.
Thx for coming!! This city isn’t as boring as some people make it to be.
It was a pleasure! And we totally agree! Thanks so much for watching!🥰🥰
You definitely depicted our great city! Thanks
Aww... Thank you! That means a lot coming from a local!😊 Thanks for watching!
Yeah. Omaha. I live in the Old Market! Love it.
Awesome!! Thanks so much for watching!😊
They Omaha Zoo is phenomenal. Hard to find one better
Totally agree! Thanks so much for watching!😊
Yes inner rail is amazing and I love the salmon curry from the sushi place
Did you go to kingdom of the nights at the zoo
Ooo… Salmon Curry sounds delicious! And yes! We did go to the Kingdom of the Nights! It was awesome! But was too dark to film. Thanks so much for watching!😊
AHH I LOVE THE ZOO ITS THE BEST! I HOPE YOU GUYS LOVED IT
We had a great time! Thanks so much for watching!😊😊
Love this video! I’ve been in Omaha my whole life and I LOVE it!! Glad you guys got to check out Little Bohemia and Aksarben, sad the boutiques weren’t open because there are so many hidden gems down there!
This video was so cute. What are some of your favorite things to do there?
Aww thank you so much Kaylie!! 🥰 Omaha is really cool! Yeah... I guess that just means we'll have to come back 😜 lol
Meeeeee toooo
Love the zoo!! If I ever visit Omaha, I'll go!!
as a local who was lived here for 11 years i didn’t even know these places were in my hometown and i am MISSING OUT !!
hahaha we feel the same about our hometown! lol 🤣
Thanks for visiting our city! Glad you had a great time!
It was our pleasure! We really enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!🥰
Omaha is definitely a great hidden gem city. I love living here! Your video was great and highlighted just a handful of the many things to do in our awesome little city.
We truly enjoyed our time there! And definitely didn't have enough time to see everything that the city has to offer! Thanks so much for watching!!🥰
Makes me appreciate the little things in Omaha
Welcome to OMAHA Nebraska THE GOOD LIFE.
Been living here all my life for 60 years,
Feb 24, 2022.
You showed me places I knew nothing about. Now I need to try a Ruben sandwich. Looked good. Thanks for the Tour.
Aww thanks so much!! 🥰 Thanks for taking the time to watch & for your kind comment! 🎉💗 - Nat
Your Welcome
Catching up on your videos, you two are the cutest. Really enjoy your videos😁
Aww… Thanks so much!🥰
Thank you for showing me things I’ve never heard of in 20 years of living here
We’re so glad you found some new things to do and see!! Thanks so much for watching!!🥰🥰
Come back anytime, we are glad that you enjoyed yourselves!
I've got family out in Nebraska, courtesy of the USAF. Your video gave me some great tips for where to go the next time I head out there!
That's awesome! We are thankful for their service.🙏 Glad you got some ideas from the video! Thanks for watching!😊
And thanks for watching!😊
new subscriber here!...you guys have great energy! First video ive watched diff will be watching rest
Hey!!! We are so excited you are on this adventure with us!!! 🥰🎉
Next time in Nebraska I highly recommend trying a Runza.
Welcome to Omaha! Hope you enjoyed your time here ☺️
Aww… Thanks!!! We definitely did! Thanks for watching!🥰🥰
I see guys made it to Aksarben Village where the old horse track was that and the new one 5 minutes down the street
We sure did! Such cool history! Thanks so much for watching!😊
Hahaha 🤣🤣 Yep! Ya'll sure do! lol It's crazy people would even think that! lol WOW What an honor! How cool is that!? 🎉🎉🎉
Don't forget the Curling trials too. Also, the College World Series.
@@TD-ce5ru Don't forget the Nebraska Furniture Mart started by a refugee Jewish woman from Russia, that now has huge stores in KC and Texas.
As an Omahan born and raised, this video made me proud!
Aww… That means more than you know! Thanks so much for watching!😊😊
I go to that zoo once a year and Omaha is amazing place I love it. I live in Sioux City y’all probably drove through that city to get to Sioux Falls that’s in your next video.
Oh that’s awesome! We really enjoyed both Omaha and Sioux Falls!! Thanks so much for watching!😊
Love you guys! It’s fun to see you be interested in my birth place and I really wish I could of met you! :)
Aww… Thanks so much and thanks for watching! That would’ve been awesome!
I’m from western Nebraska and I really like that you came to Nebraska. It’s a vast difference from omaha (eastern), eastern, and western panhandle. So much to explore here.
Thanks for coming!!!
That's awesome! Hopefully we get to visit western Nebraska someday! We've heard good things!😊 Thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofMattandNat if ya get the chance check out chimney rock, scotts bluff national monument, fort Robinson and chadron state park( from which your only an hour and a half from Mt. Rushmore)
I live in Blackstone. I watched with my grandson (4 yo) and he was totally nonplussed because he has been to all of those places already. He recommends the smoothies at Archetype and the ice cream at Ted and Wally's. He also wants you to know that you missed his favorite, the sea lions, at the zoo. *smiles* Glad you enjoyed Omaha!
Oh how cool! Haha… Glad we could provide a little entertainment for your grandson! Lol… And we’ll have to add his recommendations to our list for the next time we visit! Ahh… We’ve heard others speak highly of the Sea Lion exhibit! Thanks so much for watching!😊
Born and raised here in Omaha, and all I can say is… YOU DIDNT GO TO RUNZA!!!!! lol but loved the video ❤️
Hahaha… I knoooww!! We somehow didn’t get the memo on Runza before our visit! We won’t miss out on our next time through! Lol… Thanks for watching!😊
Thanks for coming to Omaha! It’s a hidden gem here.
It was our pleasure!! Thanks so much for watching!🥰🥰
Nothing like this video to make me homesick. I miss Omaha.
Aww… Well thanks for watching!!🥰🥰
I came to Omaha for college 20 1/2 years ago and have lived here ever since. I lived near downtown/Old Market/ Henry Doorly Zoo for quite a while, and I've lived near Aksarben for almost the last 10 years.
Oh that’s so awesome!!! So happy you found your place! Thanks for taking the time to watch & for your comment! 🎉💗 - Nat
Very helpful, my fiance and I are going in July, looking forward to the trip
That’s awesome! Thanks so much for watching! We’re glad the video was helpful!😊
I used to work at the cottonwood hotel across the crescent moon and was able to eat the Rueben sand which almost every shift 😂
Ahhh… So jealous! 🤤 That sandwich was so good! Thanks for watching!!😊
The Rueben was actually created across the street at the Blackstone/Kimpton Cottonwood hotel! Crescent Moon's menu will even give you that tid bit of information!
Yea, that's my bad. What I MEANT to say was that Crescent Moon was where the supposed BEST Reuben Sandwich is. 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks for the correction! And thanks for watching! -Matt
I was in Omaha this weekend I love it there every time I go
I was also in the old market I love it there 😻
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching! 😊 And safe travels!

You can see my house from the drone footage on the Bob Kerry Bridge. I'm just a couple blocks from the river. Omaha is an amazing town.
That’s awesome! Thanks so much for watching!😊

Such fun! You must have been in town on a Monday, with so many spots closed. When you return, visit to Coneflower Creamery, just down the street from Crescent Moon -- the ice cream is ridiculously good. Yet to find a reuben I enjoy more than the Moon's -- we always split one so there's more room for the fantastic beer list.
Aww… Thanks for watching! Yea, we were there on a Wednesday, so lots of things were closed. We’ve heard great things about Coneflower, so we HAVE to check it out the next time we’re in the area! Thanks again for watching and commenting!🥰🥰
Yes the zoo is fantastic. Sunsets are hugely beautiful. must see Railroad Museum, down town walking parks & bridge, casinos accross the river, What? you didnt have a Runza to eat ?and an amazing hIstory Museum out west Nebraska..
Yes! Both were fantastic! We’ll have to check out some of these places next time we visit! Thanks for the recommendations and for watching!😊
I visited Omaha for the first time yesterday and I was impressed it was lovely the downtown was clean and the zoo was great!
Glad you enjoyed it like we did! Thanks for watching!😊
Thanks for coming to Omaha.
It was our pleasure! Thanks so much for watching!😊
That zoo was amazing!!! Fun vlog!! After looking looking up butter brickle ice cream you miss out on a real treat!!! Sorry you missed that!!!
That zoo really was great! We enjoyed getting to see animals we had never seen before! RIGHT!? I was so looking forward to that ice cream! We'll have to go back to try it!! 🤣
