Welcome to Iowa… State #32 in our journey to all 50 states in a year! For our time in the Hawkeye State we decided to attend the state's largest event… The Iowa State Fair! We only had one day to experience this grand affair to the fullest, and that’s exactly what we did! From carnival rides that’ll make a grown man cry to every kind of food on a stick that you can imagine to life-sized butter sculptures and more, the Iowa State Fair made all of our state fair dreams come true!

We’re Matt and Nat, a part time travel couple based out of Nashville, TN. Like everyone else, 2020 turned our world upside down. With more time on our hands than ever and multiple international trips canceled, we were left wondering what our 2021 travel plans would look like.

I've been to a handful of state fairs. My parents live the Wisconsin state fair best for the cream puffs and nothing else, but I absolutely love the Iowa State fair more than any other!
Matt is an angel. I know from lots of personal experience that Nat can be…overly excited… at any fair or amusement park.

I'm so glad you all enjoyed the Iowa State Fair. My husband and I go every year....several times every year. You highlighted a couple of things I'm going to buy this year that I've never had. That's one fun thing about it: there's always something you haven't heard of and haven't eaten. I had a son born August 6th, and a daughter born the next year on August 2nd, and both were at the Iowa State Fair as newbies! Thanks for all the good comments about our state fair! Hope you come back!

Hey guys!!! I live about 10 miles away from the Washington State fair so I’m a big fan of the food, exhibits but not so much the rides anymore. So I feel for ya Matt. We call our ride bracelets “dizzy passes” and I retired from the dizziness years ago. I think with age comes wisdom lol, and a weaker stomach for spinning rides. The food there looks amazing and I’m a sucker for chocolate chip cookies and bacon wrapped chicken wings. And on a complete side note, there a live feed on RUclips of downtown Leavenworth from the roof of the Kris Kringle store that you must check out if you want a sneak peek of winter in our little Bavarian oasis. We've heard that the Washington State Fair is great too! Yea... I think y'alls name for the ride bracelets is accurate! I just can't handle it anymore! Lol... I think I'm gonna have to officially join you in retirement! Lol... But the food? Now THAT I can handle! Lol... If you guys ever go back to the state fair, there is a place where you can park called Southeast Polk and you can ride a bus to the Iowa State Fair for only two bucks if it’s the two of you
