      Biggest problem with hydroponics is all the misinformation by you tubers who treat hydroponics as rocket science,,it just isnt ,,hydro is by far easier than indoor dirt growing,,,that is if you understand how to grow anything

    Hey man, I'm a budding Hydroponics farmer - had a doubt. At 4:55 you mention that NFT is only good for a single plane growing system. Why would you say that exactly? I've seen multiple plane NFT systems but also wanted to understand what you were trying to refer to since you really look like you know your stuff and I don't want to miss a point here.

    I'm using smartpots and I rly love them. Also the taste of a grow in a
    good soil mix. But I would like to use the benefits of hydroponics.
    Could it be possible to use the benefits of soil and hydro together? I
    already have tested it for a week, with massive overwatering my Soil in
    the Smartpots and had also a massiv root growth outside the pots. They
    looked rly healthy and I had a good growth of my plants, without any
    overwatering damage, even my Soil was 24/7 moist and well watered . But I
    dont know if its worth or a good idea to invest in a Hydro System for
    Soil potting. The most people say its stupid and a waste of money, but
    the roots looked so good, they ware so long and white and I think this
    could be much better if the water was recycling. In my setting the water
    stood in my container, with my Smartpots.

    • @ZipGrowInc
      @ZipGrowInc  8 лет назад

      Sure, you can always set up a test system to give it a shot. Smart pots are just fine for hobby growing though. It's all about your goals - what are you hoping to achieve by going with hydro?

    • @kazimir8086
      @kazimir8086 8 лет назад

      At least, not to fail. I dont have enough money to fail, but I also want to maximize yield on a small space, with a good taste. It's kinda risky and I see some problems. Like: what about the microorganism in the Soil, or the fungy that supports my plant? Even if it worked for a week (actualy very well) I dont know if this is a good Idea for a whole grow cicle, or even for a complet hydroponic dripping System.

    Please give me a reason why aeroponics not effective in commercial scale, thanks for the video

    • @ZipGrowInc
      @ZipGrowInc  8 лет назад +6

      Hi Vahid, the main reason we don't recommend aeroponics is that maintenance gets pretty intensive. Root zone temperatures have to be kept very stable because there's not much thermal mass. The nozzles for the mist are very fine, which means that they can clog up easily. Between these two things there's just too much maintenance and risk for commercial growers. That said, aeroponic systems are really cool and great on a smaller scale. We've run them and had a lot of fun with them.

    • @MrPaulector
      @MrPaulector 8 лет назад +2

      Hello, In a controlled environment, the root zone temperature is easier to be kept stable, regarding the high watering frequency, than in a media based system. The nozzles percolation is a false problem if you use professional nozzle, you just have to clean up your system with acid and H2O2 once a year (if you use low pressure nozzle you even reduce this problem). This techniques is widely used in a commercial scale for mini-potato tuber production in NL since years. And some company started to use it at commercial scale in vertical farming (AeroFarms, GrowTruck and others).

    • @ZipGrowInc
      @ZipGrowInc  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, there are ways to deal with nozzle clogging, scale, etc. but it's not typically a technique that your average person wants to tackle for relatively low value food production. There are a number of folks using it as a production technique, but the jury is still out as most of them are brand new- for instance, AeroFarms has only produced one or two crops at commercial scale with their technique, and they're only a month or two into production. I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying that it hasn't within this context.

    • @atomizer2665
      @atomizer2665 7 лет назад

      I find aeroponic growing lower maintenance than any method that recirculates the nutrient. Root zone temperature, clogging and uneven mist coverage issues are easily addressed by selecting the correct type of nozzle for the task. In the right location, a commercial aeroponic system could be operated completely offgrid using only renewable energy.

    • @atomizer2665
      @atomizer2665 7 лет назад

      I`ve run high pressure aero for years, indoors under lights and outdoors in full sun.While not commercial scale, most hobby growers dont use 16ft long, 56 cubic feet chambers. If you want massive commercial scale, its perfectly possibleto run 20,000 8`x 4` aeroponic chambers without temperature or power outage issues.

    what is the best system for outdoor ?

    • @ZipGrowInc
      @ZipGrowInc  7 лет назад

      It depends on the crop! We have used towers and bato buckets/dutch buckets in the past, but many folks use NFT, DWC, all of the techniques outside depending on where they're located. We prefer ZipGrow towers for most of our applications, but we're very focussed on vertical production.

    A important key word said in the video. “Educate yourself”.
    I have some friends that are “YT engineers” who constantly fails on their projects due to watch a YT movie and off they go.
    Misunderstanding me correctly pls, there is a lot of great content on YT, but I still never met someone that made a successful business based on YT vids.
    Aqua/hydroponic is in basic very simple. However, to make it work consistently it requires knowledge. Many “secrets are left out for a reason.
    Personally I think it’s a “shitty” way to inform that something is easy. Although I have to admit that no one will share knowledge for free.
