Guthrie ,,, I’m a 73 yr old guitar player,, since I’m 12 n you are an inspiration to me ,,, I just love your style n wish I could play half as good as you ! Keep on putting out these lessons ,,, maybe if I live to be 150 I’ll catch up to ya ,,, n thanks for the great info !
NO - THAT WAS NOT WAY TOO LONG OF AN INTRO!!!! 😂😂 There is something so enjoyable listening to you working around that fretboard - chords, triads, arpeggios, pentatonics, double stops, intervals, scales, keys, MODES... (according to Rick Beato! 😉) All of it. Absolutely glorious on all counts!! Thank you, kindly, sir!!!
Just incredible The sheer quantity of different styles and feeling and inspiration that all fit together so well just within the first minute of your playing here! 😮
Yes , Guthrie this is another very helpful lesson! Love it. Thanks, for everything and it's awesome! Truly , appreciate it. It does seem like something pretty special is happening right now in Nashville. It's great what y'all are doing and all the positive music and information pertaining to guitar and etc... that Y'all are putting out into the world. I appreciate the way you explain these lessons and exercises.🌍 Sincerely , BTS#🎵😎🙏4 the 🎶 💯🎶‼️😀
Damn Guthrie, I love your playing. I could listen to this all day. So effortless and musical. This was absolutely KILLER. I can't believe how good of an improviser you are. Well done!!!
Awesome Lesson GT! This really taps into your melodic lines and buttery smooth playing in major and minor. Thanks a ton for another pot of gold - COME TO ASHEVILLE NC Please!!!
Great excercise. I think the reason I love your playing is due to your bluegrass/country roots, your playing is with a clean sound and theres little of the blues licks and leaning on bends with vibrato a lot that other players do. Its great.
@@tdz69 Seriously! I always think GT’s about to finish then he’ll go for like another 64 bars just playing all sorts of crazy shit. What a player and what a character!
Hey GT that lick you played at about 1:30 I recognize from Highway Forty Blues. I think Ray Flacke played that in one of his solos. Man love that you combine all these styles in your playing. You blend so many styles like a true Master Guitarist. This is the type of playing I grew up listening to as I was learning guitar. I was lucky enough to grow up in the era of guitarist from Doc Watson to Jimi Hendrix. I get the same thrill listening to you and Tom. Keep on keeping on ! Love ! ! ! ! what you do and as always thank you for sharing. I feel so inspired after watching your videos.
Absolutely insightful Guthrie. The first time I have properly understood the relationship between CAGED, Major & minor scales. Great practice exercises that I might actually be able to do! Some pretty reasonable playing too! 😉
Hey man, just wanted to let you know that your videos have been my primary source of inspiration for a while now. 100k subs is close, just matter of time. Please continue what you're doing, you're killing it. Cheers from rainy London
Your intros are the best brother, Im always transfixed. Ive only discovered your channel but Ive learned so much faster than I have with other ways of thinking about the fretboard. Thank you so much.
Damn, that Tele's gonna catch fire🔥Good to hear good things are happening. Always great to hear what your up to. And how things are... Good on you! Seeing something you have and don't need. And give it to someone who doesn't have and needs. Keep rock'in brother!
My impressions of your guitar playing were already maxed out ... or so I thought, but this intro pushed that to a new stratospheric level! Great stuff.
i am just glad you guys can make some extra bank and market your skills. we appreciate sharing knowledge rather than trying to hide your tricks. being open and authentic is the path to a full life!
It's so cool that you're building your guitar 'army' there in town. Ain't nothing better than a vibrant, supportive community. Great exercise here - the real stuff. (Speaking of real, I love hearing the train go by, starting around 5:57.)
GT thanks bro. I finished a videp you posted a year ago on mixing maj and m scales and now this ! What an eye opener. I seriously am beginning to visualize and hear many different sounds. Mixing for me is the new discovery. It not scale playin" anymore. It's real original sound. I can use some of these maj licks phrases with a pent. Unf***in believable! All up and down the f/b now and I can see where I am! And where to go next!
Every intro should be that long. I agree with the other poster that mentioned Gatton. I feel fortunate to witness your gift (and how you generously teach it!) while I still am able to play and gig.
You and Uncle Larry (and Jedd) are a breed apart. Not only are you guys monster players, but you’re some of the nicest guys around. Wishing nothing but great things for you. Keep on keeping on.
I was at the show on Labor Day and it was such an amazing experience. You and your band played your asses off and sounded amazing! It was an honor to see Mr.BFG but you were the star of the show and rightfully so. I wish you all the best and success going forward. PS just want to say thanks again to you and your band for signing my guitar that night.
This is really useful. I've never really used the major pentatonic. Mainly cowboy/power chords and solos to scale memory, so I couldn't really "see" how were navigating the fretboard so fluently. This demo puts some sense into me.the inclusion of minors (again, I see scales) is a big bonus. The scales are being removed from my eyes, though I'd glad I have them.I'm loving the clean sound stuff. Your playing is absolutely lovely. Thank you Guthrie.
That opening jam was f’n awesome. You and Uncle Larry are the best teachers (not to take away from anyone else). I’m a Home Skooler first and foremost, but your channel is a close second. We’re lucky to have you guys share your knowledge and wisdom with us.
I’ve been watching you and working on the skills you’ve been teaching me and I have really been improving a lot. Can’t thank you enough Guthrie! These practice drills are amazing and you are so right about using your ears. Looking forward to everything you throw my way. Stay healthy my friend and keep it fun
Personally, I’m going to be spending the next month trying to learn the first 24 bars of your intro and making it sound halfway decent. In short: keep them coming. Thank you very much for the inspiration!
That was very inspiring. ❤ thank you for that long stream of brilliant guitar consciousness. As you can see by all the comments GT we all love that you share your talent with us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
What I like about your playing is that your vibrato neck shakes are very subtle and not overly wild like some players, also you don’t pull those crazy guitar faces, you just get on and play! Amazing stuff, just in awe every time I watch these videos.
Thank you for that one Guthrie. A basic pattern that had me smacking my head, why didn’t i see that before, but immediately so useful. Doors flew open everywhere.
Inspiring as usual GT! This will make for some fun practice after work. You, Tom, Jedd and the guys are killin it! I hope I get a chance to see you guys in person at some point.
Great way to describe the totality of the chord, scale, cage just plucked this out while my kettle and arp., as a big picture. Hey Guthrie! "The picture you played is worth a thousand notes." 😃Thankyou so much. Man, I'm eager to get right on this! It is right where I'm at. (edit: Just plucked this out while waiting for the kettle to boil. Big light bulb- after the run, or using the run to get there, the hand gets positioned over another (caged) set. Super easy to cut right into very melodic penta, arp, whatever)
Hey, GT, for an ordinary guy like me, one of the best aspects of playing is how boredom with the “same old” spurs us on to learn something new. Seriously, thank you for making these clear and musical. It’s great nourishment and will last a good while. -GB
Norwegian listener/viewer here. Found you and Jedd through Uncle Larry, and I’m so glad I did. You’re definitely building a guitar community. There are tons of RUclips channels that teach technique, but I’m here for the camaraderie and musicality. Feels like hanging out with old buds. I find so much inspiration in things like: «Have you ever tried playing X over X?» That’s where music is found, not (necessarily) in speed. Keep ‘em coming, GT!😎👊🏼
As always, great video!
Nice to visit with you, Guthrie. I really mean that.
Thank you!

Right? One player's noodling, is more like a magnum opus to me.
Listening to In Stereo for the first time. Outstanding body of work. Thank you for the inspiration. Your skillet is hot so keep cookin’!
Holy crap Guthrie, that intro was some of the most amazing playing I've heard for a long while. You're on fire dude.
Thanks a ton!
That intro is so inspiring! A lot of gold in there 🎸💯🔥
Thanks for listening!
Wow that first 4:35 was on fire!! Mind boggling. That's a year of study right there! haha! Thanks for everything you do here.
Having a cooler-than-room-temperature Syrah in Portugal, in your honor, listening to you. Cheers brother!

I’m hearing Stephan Grappelli sounding licks all over this! 👏 you are an amazing inspiration brother. 🙏 much gratitude.
Wow, thanks!
Great excercise. I think the reason I love your playing is due to your bluegrass/country roots, your playing is with a clean sound and theres little of the blues licks and leaning on bends with vibrato a lot that other players do. Its great.
Lots of super cool major phrasing, lots of old school big band phrasing…the man is on another level
Love it! The longer the intros the better as far as I’m concerned. 🎸👌
Here, here!
These intros make me side eye my guitar and say to it “why can you do that when I play you?” Lol.
@@tdz69 Seriously! I always think GT’s about to finish then he’ll go for like another 64 bars just playing all sorts of crazy shit. What a player and what a character!

Epic intro, great lesson, and that Dano neck pickup sounds wonderful.
You've really got a gift for presenting these guitar concepts in a clear way in addition to your obvious killer playing. Appreciate your generosity.
Thank you Guthrie for everything that you do for us out here dreaming of being players!
I appreciate you bruh!!
I appreciate that!
My impressions of your guitar playing were already maxed out ... or so I thought, but this intro pushed that to a new stratospheric level! Great stuff.
Wow I really liked those chords around 0:40 with the diminished chords with embellishments. I wish I could buy the sheet music.
This channel is my new favorite for inspiration and Guthrie you are an amazing guitarist and teacher. Thank you so much for this!!!!
Wow! That intro... Beautiful.
Glad you like it!
Appreciate all you do Guthrie. You have been working super hard all these years and its paying off. Keep up the momentum Deano

Sounds so beautiful! Thanks Guthrie!

Thank you for another great video GT. So appreciated.
Cool, some George Benson sounds. That thing gets some great harp sonorities. Excellent playing...
Thanks for listening
