    I just want to let everyone know that this is a GREAT tv. I bought it 3 months ago and it's been nothing but awesome. Games look great, smart features work fine, even the sound is decent. Image quality, especially with 4k content is amazing.
    RTINGS' review is EXTREMELY in-depth, which is great on one hand - it gives you all of the details and facts in a very objective and professional way. On the other hand though, it sounds like the TV is just okay and a "downgrade". While this might be the case if your splitting hairs, for a mere mortal who wants to consume content and play some Xbox, this Samsung is the bee's knees.
    I hope you get what I'm saying. I was worried about local dimming and all, but then I turned the damned thing on and started watching movies and I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

      5KMT gr.2 quite annoying as it’s what you read everywhere even though FALD didn’t even work very well last year which is more than likely why it’s not being used and the build quality is lesser as the price is lower

    • @ComandanteJ
      @ComandanteJ 4 года назад +12

      Nobody is saying this is a "downgrade". It's a mid-range TV. For the price, it's pretty good, and plenty enough for most people. But there are much better TVs out there, so of course they will be giving it lower scores. If the best TV on the market is a 10/10, a mid-range TV like this will never be a 9.5, regardless of how good bang for your buck it is.

    • @lordtesco
      @lordtesco 4 года назад +6

      ComandanteJ other TVs May be better With picture quality or have FALD but there smart functions are terrible as well as build quality. Samsung will no doubt last 5+ years faultless while other TVs will not

    Purchased this TV in 65" yesterday. Unboxing and setup was easy but because it is "smart" I had to go through a lot of b.s. when I first turned it on just like we have to do when we buy a new computer. My wife and I are thrilled with the picture quality and stayed up late watching movies. Even a 1939 movie in black and white gave us an excellent, sharp picture. I hope it lasts a long time because it will take me awhile to learn how to use all of the features it has.

      @shriramsrinivasa 4 года назад +1

      @@DsLmaNiaC Hi, I'm not very sure of what you mean by Backlighting. As a layman, initially I was also not very confident of buying this TV due to the below 8 overall ratings. But I trusted the brand's reputation and decided to buy it. After using it for about a month, I have no regrets, the picture quality is good across various sources and lighting levels.

    • @DsLmaNiaC
      @DsLmaNiaC 4 года назад

      @@shriramsrinivasa well i am certain i did not initially mean to ask about backlighting, maybe it was an auto correction.
      My main concerns are if the screen's brightness is descent for hdr content or gaming and if there are any uniformity issues with black or grey.
      For example if there is a dark scene can you see light bleeding on certain areas of the screen?

    • @DsLmaNiaC

      @@shriramsrinivasa the two tvs i have in mind are the 75q60r and the 65q85r which happens to cost 200 euros more.
      Now those reviews have me worried that if i pick the q60 i will get a much worse tv set. The q60r was my initial option because i think 75 inches will make the total experience more immersive.

    You could also mention the subtitles large brightness changing problem on Samsung TVs and any other TVs that have it.
    You should test this as people use this feature from hard of hearing to anime watchers. You should be informing buyers yet I can't see this issue mentioned on your site or in your videos.
    I've read so many people have had to return their Samsung TV, and this issues goes all the way to the higher end Samsung's of 2018.
    Would be great if you can test the Samsung 2019 TVs subtitles in future reviews and show how it compares to 2018 Samsung like on the NU8000, Q7FN, Q8FN and Q9FN.

  • @ASEDoc
    @ASEDoc 4 года назад +2

    I know I already posted twice, but now that I have installed the 82" Q60R and spent some time with it, I thought I should update. First of all, the image quality of the Q60 is excellent. It upscales 1080p beautifully. Contrast, color and motion are all great on this set. This is just as I expected after viewing this set in the darkened viewing room at the store, and in keeping with rtings review. However, my set has some pretty severe flashlighting. This is the same thing that rtings noted in their review of a 55" Q60R. This is why they rated the Q60 below the RU8000 for movies in a dark room. Wish I had spent more time researching this. I wasn't planning to buy the Q60, so I didn't look closely at it before I saw it at the store. The 82" display unit at the store either doesn't have a flashlighting problem, or at least I didn't catch it in the time I spent with it.
    I will be returning my set and probably will go with the Q70 as it is FALD rather than edge lit. This light bleed problem may be incidental and not a common occurrence but this 82" tv weighs 105lbs, 137lbs in the box, and moving it again, on the chance that a second one might be better just isn't worth it. I'd rather spend more money, or trade for a smaller screen in the FALD model than chance having to swap panels a second time.
    If you are using the Q60R in a living room with moderate lighting, the light bleed may not be an issue. Also, on sizes 55" and under, light bleed may be less prevalent. For me, using this panel as a dedicated HT display, the light bleed is more than I can tolerate.

      @lucee2261 4 года назад

      Well thought out description.
      I've been waiting for the 82 inch Q70 to come down in price but fortunately or unfortunately the 82 inch Q60 has beaten it, to it.
      I'm sorely tempted because at the equivalent $1,800 it does appear a bargain.
      However after reading your views on the 82 inch Q60, I'm going to wait a bit longer for the Q70.
      There's just one issue that some are complaining about - problems with subtitles on their Q70's - have you noticed anything untoward?
      Thanks...

    Don’t buy the new 2019 Qled TVs guys. I had a 8FN and thought after it tanking I’d get a Q70R. And let me tell ya it was junk! The screen was extremely dark and had bad reflection issues. And it had a lot of judder on screen when gaming on Xbox One X. So I returned it today and tracked down another 8FN and I’m blown away with how bright it is. I stick it out with Samsung’s because of there response times for gaming. But the 2018 models drop the 2019 models big time. And the new models look so cheap and have a matte black finish on the screens that crush the colours. Hope this helps you guys but I fealt it should be shared to save ya going through what I have.

    The rtings review doesn't mention the 10 bit panel of the Q60R vs the 8 bit panel of the lower models. In fact they rate the RU8000 higher for movies which puzzles me. Viewed side by side, as I did yesterday, there is a visible difference in color detail, contrast and clarity. I viewed the two models in the 82 inch size in a dimly lit room with 1080p content. I bought the Q60R. It will go in my theater and used for viewing 1080p in a dark room with 6500k bias lighting. It will be awesome!

    Q70R should be the Best Bang for your Buck with it being the cheapest FALD model Samsung produces.

    Its 2020, all i ask for is a tv that has hdmi 2.1 connectivity that has a refresh rate of 120 hz and can run 4k at 120hz for under $1000. Is this honestly too much to ask for?

    Thanks for the Great Review. I bought the Q60r 82 inch a month ago. Is there a good picture calibration video out...specifically, for sports? I love the size and the picture is good, but this tv seems like a small step down from the 65 inch OLED my 5 year old broke. I thought it might be the picture settings.

    Hi! I live in Brazil and was thinking about getting the 65 inch Q60, but it is outside my budget. The Q6FN is a lot more expensive too, so I was thinking I could either downgrade in size with the 55Q60 or downgrade from QLED and 120hz and get the 65RU7100. Which should I go with?

    The best thing about this TV is the fact that previous models that are better will be cheaper if you can still get them. I'm just hanging out for the Sony x90F (65") to get close to $2000 so i can grab one before they are all gone.

    Excellent review! I have a question though... Do you have any idea what the differences might be between side models of the 60R? E.g. in Belgium at the moment I can find the QE55Q60R, the QE55Q64RALXXN, the QE55Q67RALXXN, and the QE55Q65... Specification-wise they look comparable.. But are they truly? Thanx!

    This TV has global dimming. If you like your entire picture going dim during dark scenes and then noticeably lighting back up, this TV is for you. Skip this one and go with the Q70 which has proper local dimming. The features on this TV are comparable to a budget TV with a $1200 price. I don't know what they were thinking.

    Technically all 4K HDR content works the same on all 4K TVs, it's just minor things like color reproduction, brighter highlights in HDR and deeper blacks amongst other things most people won't really care about. You won't pixel peep to the point where you start thinking your 4K TV isn't sharp enough or anything like that.

    • @Safetytrousers

      I have a £300 Hisense, which is a great TV for the price, but HDR often exhibits a distinct purple halo around eyes and mouths. Not all HDR works the same.

    Oh, also not mentioned is the AI Quantum processor that came out in 2019 QLED models it's the same upscaling processor used in the Q900 8K set. If, like me, you watch a lot of 1080p content, or play games in 1080p resolution, you will see the difference from last year's UHD engine.
