Don Bluth films just had a way of evoking all the best emotions.
Don Bluth movies were basically the Pixar of the 80s
This was one of the first movies that introduced us to the loss of loved ones! It never gets easier!
And about friendship. Because someone’s different from you doesn’t mean they can’t be your friend. Allies come in all shapes and sizes. True intentions are what defines us and proves our kind acts are from a loving places. Seeing only ones capability of people kind honest and true to them selves but not holding on to only that. Willing to change to make others feel welcomed and respected. If only everyone could live like these characters. And hold o. To the same mentality as adults later in life. And spread the same feeling to everyone one knows. That’s be great wouldn’t it. Excepting. And not just tollerant of one another. People are only hateful from thier expirences usually. One should Never be hateful or hold onto negative opinions of cultures or be disrespectful as you’re only doing it to your selves in the end. Doing any of these things makes one unworthy of love. And expectance. And respect. They typically do t change as they’ve never been corrected on bad behaviours. Let’s stop the cycles of cruelty and playing ignorant. Do as these amazing characters do. Or just think.. it just a movie for kids… right? There’s no such thing as “just a movie”. Art imitates life. This is not new right….It’s part of our culture.
Clearly wasn't one of the first movies that showed you a loss of loved one. I mean Bambi came out 1942 when Bambi's mom got shot by the Hunter.
When Don Bluth (the director) asked little Judith Barsi, (a prolific child actress, ) if she wanted to voice a dinosaur in his movie. She replied " yep yep yep!"
He was so charmed by her that he had her include it as her character Ducky's catchphrase. He was also so impressed by her that he cast her as the voice if the little girl in his next big hit. "All Dogs go to heaven"
Bluth himself may have not known about the horrific physical and emotional abuse little Judith and her mom were suffering at home, but it was an open secret among many people she worked with and interacted with. Her abusive alcoholic father even told his friend hundreds if times that he wanted to kill his wife and Judith. Wish somebody had believed him. He shot his 10-year-old daughter Judith ("Ducky") in her sleep the shot his wife and s couple days later set fire to their bodies and the house before shooting himself. Poor little angel didnt deserve any of thst.
Her grave says "yep, yep, yep!"
This is my childhood 😢
I still cry. I'm 40
Also, I can't believe it's only rated 70%!!! I'm offended 😡
Little foot losing his mama hit so deep 😢 I was shatterd as a child
I was emotionally fkd
The Land Before Time isn't a Disney movie, it was made at Universal Studios. the director (i think) worked on Disney but TLBT isn't a disney franchise
Bluth is credited as an animator on Disney's "The Fox and the Hound", and probably others. When he left to make "The Secret of NIMH" he took several coworkers with him, and turned out a masterpiece. I think "An American Tale" is my favorite of his films.
Littlefoot is an Apatosaurus a sauropod, Cera is a Triceratops a ceratopsian, Ducky is a Saurolophus a hadrosaur or duck billed dinosaur, Petrie is a Pteranodon a flying reptile or pterosaur and Spike is a Stegosaurus a spike tailed dinosaur or thyreophoran.
As someone who lost their mother as a child (I was 10 years old) and raised by their grandparents on my mother's side, this movie is so close to my heart cause it hits so close to home
I love the song by Diana Ross at the end of the movie
“If we hold on together” 🥰
@@KrystalAnn0688 yes, it's such a beautiful song and the lyrics so inspiring
The reason why this is a short movie is because Don Bluth had to cut out a lot of scenes. I.e. the majority of the fight scenes with Littlefoot and Sharptooth in the beginning.
Nineteen minutes of footage, all of it involving either Sharptooth or other peril.
Actually this isn't a Disney movie. It's a Steven Spielberg movie with George Lucas aka father of Star Wars and Don Bluth working on it with Mr. Spielberg
You forgot to say Universal.
This is a Don Bluth film.
Spielberg and Lucas were only producers.
@@cyberpunkspacejams And it's released by Universal. Why do some people never bother to check company labels?
oh god 😭😭😭 i just KNOW your poor mama heart is going to break during this. i’m 30 years old, this was my first exposure to death, and it still makes me sob.
Just so you know, Bigmouths are supposed to be the famous duckbilled hadrosaurs, which were very successful dinosaurs.
And this isn't Disney, this is Universal.
Oh my goodness 😢 I was born in 2000 exact year. I saw this movie ONCE 😣 the wave of nostalgia. I’m bawling like a baby with my grown ass. N*gga😫 productions like this are PHENOMENAL, they don’t make gems like these no more. 😂
Well said…😂 I saw that around 5+. I was ALSO manufactured and released the year 2000 💀 A tear left my eye. 🫡My soul is lighter 😐
I’m almost 40 and I grew up with is movie❤❤❤❤ it makes me cry to this day 😢
Greatest franchise of all time in my opinion. I believe there is 15 land before time movies?
Yeah ducky I feel like it was probably my favorite character when I was a kid I really loved her and I found out as an adult that her voice actress was killed by her father if I remember correctly there was some abuse going on in the mom wanted to take her away and he felt like she's the meal ticket so you know what I'm just going to burn the house down with both of them in it
Think the dad even acted normal a day after r two before he did his own self. Then they were found later on when the family wasn’t around. Sorry trying to keep my comments family friendly one here.
I was 5 when this came out... I forgot how good this movie is 😢😂 awesome reaction
I was 2
Littlefoot's father does appear at some point in the sequels.
Girl how did you not realize Dino’s ate other Dino’s. The meat eater eat meat… leaf eaters eat leaves…omnivores eat both. Same then as is now…lol said with love and sarcasm not to be rude what so ever.
Sad fact: the girl who voiced duckey also voiced the girl in all dogs go to heaven, but she was k*lled by her dad before she could even see it.😢
So sad what happened to the girl who voiced Ducky.
There was a recent Reddit thread asking what is the saddest movie of all time. This movie got a lot of votes, maybe even more than Green Mile. I had completely forgotten about it. I watched it as a kid, but couldn't watch it again because it was so sad. I had to revisit it, and your reaction was a great way to do that. Thanks!
I think grave of the fireflies is above this but yea its up there close in the top 5
YUP YUP YUP!!!! 🤩
Even after all these years, this movie never fails to make me ugly cry. And I still think that Sharptooth is the most terrifying depiction of a T-Rex in cinema, even more than Jurassic Park.
EDIT: I hope you’ll watch more of Don Bluth’s stuff, particularly The Secret of NIMH and All Dogs Go to Heaven. I grew up with this trifecta, and they’re still some of the best that I’ve ever seen. But they’re also the most emotionally gut-punching.
They mention in passing that Littlefoot's dad was killed by a sharp tooth
As a kid and as an adult this shit still makes me tear🥺✌️🤟🤙
This was my Childhood!
These movies are way safer for adults. Children can’t comprehend what exactly all this means. It’s a great way to give messages to kids, early.
Unfortunately all of our moms will pass:( hopefully we put enough tools in our belt, over time, to deal with it..
Correction Disney does not own this film it was created by Don Bluth.
Its Diana Ross's song and the score that chokes me up.
Dinosaurs are my favorite real life animals and I can model and animate them in blender.
Loooove this movie 💜
No just so you know this isn't Disney. It's from a former employee turn rival but it's not owned by Disney.
Actually, The Land Before Time (1988) is a Universal movie which is it's made by both Universal Studios and also Don Bluth Films.
Not made by Disney which is it's not made by Disney.
Just letting you know.
Instead of a first time react or rewatch, you could call this a Deja Viewing, cus you just not sure if you've seen it before but it sounds real familiar to you.
I like that 😄
I Love Littlefoot and his Grandparents❤️🦖🦕
I didn’t know this was 1988 I had the vhs but I was born in 2000 I guess if you grew up in the 2000’s but was poor you basically grew up in the 90s
Well now my tummy hurts & I’m crying 😢
My sister who's a decade younger than me had all of these growing up I only saw I think the first couple of them and then I really wasn't that interested anymore even though I still love dinosaurs I was kind of annoyed that they didn't have the correct names I'm not going to Google when exactly this came out but you said 88 so if it was after March I was seven
To the world. No one likes the stubborn Sarah types… but if she can learn to grow into a better version of her self, then everyone else in real life can to. After all she’s cartoon. And we know better. Should. We are real and can make such choices… being kind.. is always a beautiful choice. And everyone likes kindness. And if not… that’s horrible. Please Get help… serious. ❤
When you can leave arrogance behind, Cera types can be great leaders. Strong and determined to get things done like she did in the end.
Its all so cute and charming then it gets taken from you in a way that makes you well up inside. 🚿💦🌊
Girly I feel like by the time you're done watching the movie you would know if it was the first time watch a re-watch and you can put that in the title
I agree, I like different too. This film has a lot of antiwhite and antiBlack messaging and false narratives about embracing our ethnicities to having ethnic homelands for our own peoples as somehow being immoral, which is an unfortunate message. People and races and ethnic societies are not shops. we have gone completely the wrong direction in current year. We need our own ethnic places in the world.
6:45 - different animals have different ways of playing, to hone their skills. If Dad hadn't intervened, Cera could have seriously injured Littlefood, due to her physiology. But if she were to play with her siblings, they can crack heads together with no issues. There is nothing wrong with "keeping to your people", as long as children are not taught to hate or fear "others".
