Yep!
That is a sexy camera but fuji is just as good.
Two lenses, one camera.
Would love to see more film/old camera & lenses/art & history of photography related videos!
Keep it up Kai and had no idea you're married with kids lol. - Viewer since the DRTV days!:)
Comin' up!
@@KaiManWong I know you used to have an M2. It would be cool to hear about some the cameras/lenses you [and Lok] have owned over the years, and the pros and cons of them, reasons for getting them and selling them - more like a long term review, and how your shooting or influences evolved.
And the photographer quotes series used to be really fun too (as an alternative to reviews and gear.)
It came as a surprise to me too. Let's face it it's been 10 years and I'm married too and we have a wonderful 16 months old son. That's life!
Damn ive been watching kai from the start and to hear how hes already married and has kids is like wow! Time really gets the best of us huh? Glad to know it was time well spent
Yes pls on the idea of more vids about classic/vintage cameras and lenses
Would love to see “The F Word” return. Your video on the F4 inspired me to pick one up and enter the world of film.
I'm just going to change it a bit. Maybe call it something else but definitely more film camera vids - stay tuned!
Nikon f5 maybe
Hi Dan! What you don’t know who is Dan? Award winning photojournalist (a.k.a. not-ok-guy, the pole guy)
3:54 must admit that worn out golden Leica looks pretty dope. Great to see such an expensive camera being properly used.
This video is a demonstration on why you are the king of camera reviews on RUclips.
really excited for the classic gear series to come back!
Aperture is a great shop, they have always been helpful and friendly whenever I go in. Also great news that the Rathbone Place branch is now a dedicated film processing shop
Yo congrats Kai! 2 little gems to take care of. Happy for you! Been along for the ride for years, you’ve taught me everything I know about photography and cameras/lenses. I find myself at my local shops foaming at the mouth over lenses too lol. Wrestling with the idea of buying the RF 2.8 70-200mm currently. No kids yet, but that lens will definitely be like having one 😂
Kids > Camera. Great self control Kai! Hope your channel makes up for future tuition x2, retirement, and that lens!
Amazing camera. Best review as always Kai - Thank you!
I have wanted a nikkor noct for at least 38 years. Most of that time I simply could not afford it, now I just can't justify it for the type of photography I do. However, at that price if it was a good example, I would have bought it right away.
Love Aperture photographic - great camera stores and developing service
Very keen to see a video series on old gear :)
Went from canon to Leica digital to Leica film . And love it so much. I support your exploration 👍
You either get it or you don't. You sum this Leica up nicely. I bet the management go-ahead meeting was interesting.
I also like to enjoy visiting camera stores. The experience is almost as exciting as visiting a toy store when I was a kid.
Always my favourite, keep us posted😊
This was the best episode I'm ages. Felt a bit like the old digitalvrev vids. Much better than just review after review of the same cameras every blogger and his dog is doing. Please more old tech and also not even reviews, just what you did. Also Leica review, perfect. You either get it or you don't bye bye
oh how I miss visiting Aperture and drooling over the goodies (and occasionally leaving the shop a few pounds lighter)
but yet a few pounds heavier?
Out of focus shot, best review ever made of a Leica.
It's like when you are so good at one thing that you are able to go to the essence of it. Boom.
I like your videos. Your very honest in them. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
I'm with ya Kai! Vintage is where it is at. It has soul!!!! great video.
Nikon D850 + the superb Noct-Nikkor 1.2/85 mm, a dream would come true for me - on the other side, a Leica M Monochrome Typ 246 and a 35 and 75 mm lense would be all I ever need for my photography, but yes, this is definitely not cheap
Very cool. I've been playing with old film cameras. Developing and scanning and just bought a projector to print black and white on film. Started my collection of old cameras. 😜
Every Married i know always starts off " before i got Married" It's always a sad story that follows.
My brother, married with 2 kids does equate to "me time."
I'm afraid that ship has sailed.
I love the vintage lenses . The reason I still shoot film(as a hobby not for work) is to be able to afford and try out so many different ones. Look forward to more of this type of thing!
I've been here since the DRTV days, I've never been so early! Love the humorous approach to videos, keep it up Kai!
Thanks for sticking by for so long!
YESSSSSS FILM CAMERA VIDEOS!!!!!!!

Love your take on old lenses and cameras. Great to see you taking a dive into the world of collecting old cameras. There is something amazing about looking through a camera made in 1902 and realize that long before you walked the earth there was someone looking though the very same viewfinder to grab a picture of their family. I took an old Kodak box camera out the other day and did just that. Of the roll I only got one useable image (understanding the shutter speed took a bit of time) but the image was amazing. Forget sharp, this was wonderfully soft, forget bokeh, everything was in focus and the light fall off was dramatic.
Kai, I have enjoyed seeing your vids and hope you will continue to enjoy and explore the subject of photography further.
Cheers.
Great to see you Kai! 😊 Old camera and lenses are sensational however I can’t say I share the same enthusiasm for the new M10 Monochrom. It doesn’t offer very much value for money and Leica’s professional support is lacking.
Yes please! More classic cameras! YASSSS
Surprise! Not just married, but with 2 kids. Congrats Kai!
I loved your old videos from "that other" channel when you used older gear, or explained why the Leica M or certain lenses were so important. I think a lot of your viewers agree that the process of looking at, learning about, and using gear is, unashamedly, half the fun sometimes. Not every walk-around results in jaw dropping images, but it can still be fun and relaxing just for the tactile, visual and intellectual experience. I have had several film and digital Ms (currently the M10), but never the Monochrom variants, and now I am teetering precariously on the edge. If I watch Ragnar Axelsson's earlier Monochrom video again I will fall right over....
Probably my favorite video of all the ones you made or at least the ones I watched so far! Nice combination of what stands for itself and what really matters. Professional and personal. Great stuff, really! Thank you!
Yay! More film camera reviews. After I ditched digital for film a while ago I don't really watch digital camera related videos anymore. So so some film related content from you would be very welcome.
i loved how exited you got seeing old nikkor lenses and cameras! glad to see you still care about film cameras and excited for the analog “reviews”!
I love the idea of you doing videos on classic cameras. I have been collecting and using older cameras for years. Mine are mainly from the 1970s to the 1990s, though I do have some older ones (my oldest is a 1937 Hitler era Leica IIIa). It's a pity you don't live nearer to Gloucester, as I would happily lend you cameras for review.
Yo Kai!
Your voice being independent is so exciting to the online photographic milieu!
Excited by the retro camera exploration!
Thought you were cool since old dig-re days :)
I love all your videos especially your British accent!
This is what i have wanted for so long!!!!!
That Leica is just what I need to show off to others and take great pictures of my keyboard.
I have been fans of you channel for years now. I have learn about camera info and tips from you. When about to make decision, you are a must watch among 5 RUclips vdo, I need to watch!
Today, I have learn that u have got 2 kids, just like me. Would you please create a series of tips or gear around your kids traveling, activity, performance. Or recommendation on a day trip or short trip oversea.
i'm here for the nikkor noct !
Got most of my gear from Aperture, also this neat wrist strap which they told me will appreciate hahaha. Nicest staffs!
"That a little chinese looking..."
Kai: "We are chinese though..."
Kai really is the Anthony Bourdain of camera reviews.
Fantastic news, I look forward to seeing your film camera videos
FIRST TO SAY I FUCKINNNN LOVE KAI AND HIS AWESOME VIDEOS!!! NEVER STOP PROVIDING THE LAUGHS MY MAN!
Here's some lovin' back at ya!
I started my career with BW film, bulk loading , chemicals, for a university paper. Still love it
I guess I feel a lot more for old film cameras because that was where I started (too)...Loading, winding, processing/waiting...result.
@@KaiManWong ....resulting
This was fun to watch! While I'm sure this outing was mostly "work" for you, it was great to see you have fun and goof off. Would love to see more content like this, Kai!
I've still got my old Mavica FD and yes.. It still works!!
Looking forward to the classic stuff.
This will definitely be a fun series. Can’t wait.
You can say hello to "Old Lok" at 4:29
Lok's already old.
Seriously though, it’s weird. Can we get them in a video together?
@@benharris3949 umm.. Time paradox...!!
ImmortalInflames that is a risk I am willing to have Kai take.
Forget the first part, got exited after you entered this store
Had a Leika ii for a while. I wanted to keep it for my self. 1932 and the thing felt so smooth. Worst part of the resell business is having to let go
I go to the flea market every other weekend or so, especially in the summer. I've found so many old lenses and I've bought a handful. My favorite are Canon FD lenses. I have adapters for all my cameras, like my Samsung NX's and my Panasonic GX85. I've got quite a few great ones. My best find is the old Canon FD 50mm f1.4, I use it for almost everything at this point. If I ever get into the Fujifilm system, I'm getting that FD adapter.
That stone island jacket is nice 🔥🔥🔥
Loved this vlog style
Personally, I fell in love with film during one of the DRTV film episodes with the Hasselblad. That unique look from the film was what set it apart from today's picture-perfect standard. Will definitely be looking forward to more film-related videos!
Woah, a Speed Magny! Those are crazy, essentially a mirror prism adapter back for shooting 4x5" film or peel-apart Polaroid with a 35mm Nikon. Imagine a contraption that straps a Hasselblad X1D onto the bottom of an A7S and somehow makes it work. Nice find.
Go Kai! As a fan since early DR days, you are actually getting better at this, it that is possible......?
Aperture UK is a dope little camera shop.
Dayum some nice cameras in store!! Very reasonable prices too.
Yes!! Been waiting for your review
I'd love to see your videos on older gear. I'm a huge fan of manual lenses myself and I have used more than 300 vintage lenses on old cameras and adapted to digital ones. So, I can't wait to see which ones you are going to present.
cant wait for the old cameras series
loved the end, go for it Kai!
As much as I appreciate that kind of shooting, processing from color into B&W gives you more options.
these are the vids I miss .................good on ya Kai ....keep them coming ...Hilarity
Let's face it the beginning shot of it sat on a table in a trendy resteraunt, (or coffee shop), is where it'll mostly be seen.
Hahah Kai you're the best man love your videos!
Hell yea!

I think that this outbreak of laugh describes the fp for photographer's pretty good I guess. Great video :))
Please please more random classic gear. Yes yes and more yes
Vintage lens is very sexy, the story, the history behind, I think they are still be overlooked. Although I only have the Takuma 50, But I really enjoy shooting it. The whole experience is different.
It's ONLY $6300... such a bargain.
I'm a Fujufilm shooter, and I pretty much only shoot vintage glass, and in Black & White mostly. I love how all these lens options open up on that platform with a simple M42 mount, or the Nikkor to Fujifilm adapters. Right now, my go-to is a Soviet era MC Helios 58mm, 1.2f. Talk about crazy swirly bokeh!!
I was looking at a display of cameras over the years in York museum and realised I had owned and used most of them at one time or another.
Including a Kodak Autographic 116, with its 2.5 x 4.24 negatives.
Absolutely would love to see more videos on old cameras and lenses! I've always been interested in vintage cameras and that's how it got me started in photography in the first place. I just wish I am more knowledgeable about old lenses so I'd feel comfortable buying them
Fun video. Thank you!
Yes more old gear stuff pls Kai , Cheers !
You’re the best 👌 sorry, I’m french… I’m very lazy with the foreign language 😂😂
I can hear Dan Chung buying that entire store.
Oldie but a goodie. What about a review of the Olympus Zuiko 40mm F2? Would be interested in what you make of the bokeh on this rather scarce lens
It produces beautiful pictures even when its out of focus.
Great video love old cameras and lenses have a old Nikon photomatic f with a 35 and 50mm lenses it still works great
Would love reviews of old film lens on DSLR's.... I just picked up a Nikkor 105mm f4 AIS macro for my D850. Just amazing !!!!
At last someone with the same love of cameras
that dot when Kai was back home made me try to clean my screen
The end bit where he talks about old lenses is totally true, I own a Sony A7ii literally because they are basically the perfect camera to adapt old lenses. I don't have a single AF lens at the moment for that camera. =P
good this was so good. the last bit specially felt like magic
Got a nice giggle at the Sigma FP bit. So now that it got a strong firmware update this week, reckon you might do a mini-vid for that soonish?
Look forward to seeing more videos on the vintage Nikon's and the amazing old Nikkor lenses as well..have a few in my collection now and my camera's are an F, 3 F2's, an F3, F4E, El Nikkormats, Ft's, FTN, and FT2 and an FE. I have others of different brands and formats as well. luckily for me my partner is into photography and collecting old cameras too so I never have to explain to her why I must have that lens or camera...lol..she's just 'cool...can I have a play with it too?' got to love that :-) that Leica was just gorgeous, I want one of their film rangefinders one day, till then I have a Leica R8, R5 and V-lux 4 digital to use. the film ones are my favourites though, beautiful cameras to shoot with.
I couldn't imagine walking down a street with a $10,000 camera strapped around my neck... Someone taking it or dropping it is the equivalent of me totaling my car.
Believe me i prefer that someone steals two or three times my car... i got a renault Modus !!! ;-)
It's a camera for lawyers and doctors. They don't care and buy a new one.
@@walrus0008 You've clearly never met a Leica shooter or a lawyer or doctor lol
True but you have insurance for your car! I have an M10 and there are times I still pull out my M9 because I am going to some rather nasty part of town. As the camera gets older, and I get more use out of it I will relax more and use it more.
There’s camera insurance too.
So keen for old gear content!!
