HOW TO REMOVE RC TIRES | Using the bake method
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 окт 2024
- Here I use the "baking" method to remove old tires from your RC car rims so you can reuse them to mount on new tires. It surprisingly DOESN'T make your kitchen smell like burning rubber, but it's no t-bone steak. ;)
You will need:
-Old set of tires/rims
-Thin cyanoacrylate (CA) / super glue (super thin)
-New tires/foam inserts
-Oven
-1000 grit sandpaper
To remove existing tires from rims:
Set your oven to 300 degrees (F) (or higher if it doesn't come off the first time). Place your old tires/rims onto a baking sheet. When oven reaches temperature, turn it off and place the baking sheet into the oven. Wait 5-10 minutes. Remove tires from the oven. Using an oven mit or towel, pull the tires away from the rims. They should be easy to remove. If not, place tires back in the oven for 5 more minutes. Clean up scratches around rims using 1000 grit sand paper.
To remount new tires:
Place your new tires/foam around the old rim. Pull away a section of tire at a time and place a small amount of super thing CA into the bead. Reseat the tire and hold in place for several seconds (it should be an instant bond!). Do this until your entire tire has been glued down.
Good luck!

I've always just tossed the rims when the tires were shot. I will still buy new rims when the tires are shot. Now I will save the old rims because someday they will become obsolete, and you won't be able to find them anymore. Kinda like the old fashion hobby shops that use to dot the country. Thanks for the tip. Keep up the good work.
Yup, I accumulated a bunch of 3.3” tires with 14mm hexes, now both are obsolete and almost nobody sells/uses them… really annoying.
I don't even own an RC but I am hooked on watching videos of people removing RC tires. I did have an RC tank in the seventies tho. Loved that thing.
Imagine being rc girls husband and you come home from a hard days work and walk in to find her baking......Rc wheels!!! She is f**king awesome and is literally any man's dream girl. God beauty, brains and a unbelievable personality. She is definitely special. Awesome video.
I think it's great seeing ladies into the hobby.
Just mounted up some ribbed tires for my son’s rustler and ended up with a horrible side to side wobble, due to a little variation around the bead. Your method saved the day! Thank you 👍🏼
Thank you so much for this video! I was hesitant to try this method but I did today. The results were awesome! I left the over
N on at 325* and placed in (4) tires/wheels for 20 minutes. Thanks again! 🤘🏻🏁
I'm impressed that the Baking skill could be used for the wheels.
I use it for the radio equipment frequently but nothing else
Nicely done! Your videos are very informative and to the point without all the theatrical hype I see on so many others.
Woah! That's just under 150C! Brilliat! I'm definitely using this method. As I really don't want buckets of acetone in the house. Thanx RC Girl.
Never once did I think of that the number of rims I've thrown over the years 😂😂😂 nice idea from a lovely babe ❤️❤️thanks for that nice!!!
Didn't even realize you could do this. Thanks RC girl!
Was going to buy a 5L of acetone and a air sealed container to make an accetone bath (cause simply rubbing acetone on wheels doesn't work) but saw this today and it worked quite well.
Thanks for the video, much help 😁
Wow! I think I'm in love. I have never seen a woman who likes rc cars before. Awesome videos. I subscribed so fast.
Ryan Smith damn same ! I saw girl and rc and was like um click, subscribe watch
Ryan Smith Lol. It's like what happened. Regluing tires. I won't even do that.
LOL Ryan!! But yea i must admit, it is kinda nice to see women who are into RC cars (^^,) Subscribed 5 seconds into the video (>.
I had to click... just had to, I'd marry her
Bunch of gay birds in here. She doesn't even acknowledge any of you. Nor does she do nitro. Sucks. She should give nitro a go. Maybe then she wouldn't have lame comments on her Channel?
The only method that doesn't give you a chemical headache or squirts boiling water at your face.... So glad they invented Beadlocks!
I'll try this method next time, looks easier and less messy than the acetone method!! thanks for sharing!
RC Girl, you are awesome! Learning a lot from you in a short period of time! 2 thumbs up to you!👍🏽👍🏽
I tired the Boiling water waste of time. Bake your tires hand down works awesome on my traxxas slash. I did preheated the oven to 300° put the tires in there for five minutes took them out and pop them off the rim. Thank you😊👊🏻
You can buy a can of acetone from Lowes or Home Depot, take the foams out, let the tires and wheels soak for a couple of days..they will peel off like they were never glued at all
The problem with the baking method is the terrible smell the boiling water method works for me but you do you
If using boiling water method, the insert foam still can re-use?
5 years ago RC Girl is super helpful! 😃 Thanks!
haha one of my EARLY vids... ;)
@@RCGirl Hopefully you still agree with your early recommendations. ;) I have been wanting to unglue/reglue the tires on my rustler 4x4 because I filled them with water (forgot to tape the venting holes and drove through a lot of mud) and I don't think I've managed to get all the water out so I want to properly dry the foam.
Greetings from up north in SF by the way! 😃
@@aaybes yeah still a good method. I think adjust the temp/time as needed, depending on how much original glue was used. I lived in SF for 7 or 8 years before moving to SC! 🤙🏼
@@RCGirl Well, I finally got around to trying this out. I was trying to remove the foams from inside factory glued tires (Traxxas rustler 4x4 talon extreme tires) to clean and dry them after a trip in the mud without plugging the vent holes. 1 tire I managed to full get off of the wheel, 2 tires I got one side out which allowed me to carefully pull the foam out, the last tire unfortunately cracked when I pulled it off the wheel… 🤷🏻♂️ I'll try to re-glue it on see if that works… but I also ordered some new tires. ;) Also, it was very hard to get those off of the wheel!!
Wow...I've never heard of this bake method! Been cutting and acetone scraping which takes forever. Will definitely have to try it out on my next change of tires! Thanks!
My God, you are just a natural beauty. My wife is a tall, beautiful blonde, but she thinks I'm insane for my RC obsession. I'm sending her this video right away. Haha! Luckily, we have a beautiful daughter that shares my love for RC. RC Girls are the best!
The pros dump em, and now i take them. Haha works awsome, helps save so much money and time, no more break in.
Subbed cause you remind me of my ex that hated RC cars. Gonna try the oven method ! Good video except for the bumps on the tires part. That part made me question everything I have learned in life🤔
I come back to this video, as it was the first one I watched about a girl in rcing, abd you really have come a long way on staging, making video. You make it look so easy but I know it takes lot of planning and backstage work to deliver high quality videos.
thank you Haley
BTW, saw you in one of the rc airplane magazines!
Shit, a Girl That Likes RC cars and she’s not ugly either .
Damn I’d Love to Talk Driveshafts and Drive cups . 😛
Mark C Pervert lol
GORILLA BEAR TECH
🤗 no. Really
My Girl couldn’t give a Flying Feck about my RC cars.
It is so good to see a lady RC enthusiast. When I first got into this hobby, my wife and daughter were really into it as well. They each had their own cars, and I even got an RC motorcycle, painted it all girly, and mounted a Barbie on it for my daughter. I had to use a heat gun to heat up the doll's legs to get them to open up and conform to the bike seat, and the doll was only good for piloting the RC after that. This proves that like most girls, you have to get Barbie HOT before she will spread her legs.
Aside from your super cool vids I been building a scale garage for my axial wraith and its almost done
I just bought some proline tires for my traxxas udr. Thanks for the vid.i sure hope these ones last longer than the stock tires. The udr is extremely hard on rubber
Love a woman that can bake a good tire ;)
Very helpful I was going to bin my rc rims can't wait for my wife to ask what's for dinner.
The only method that works for me!
i just tried your tyre removal tip and it works great thanks heaps, stay safe.
Thank you for this RC Girl! My Pro Line separated from the rim!
I destroyed 2 tires today using heat gun method. Tore the bead. Oven makes a lot more sense. Thx for the video. An wow your really cute. Lol.
Wow great video Rc girl. There needs to be more woman like you, because your awesome 😍
Tried this on my spare Trx4 tire and melted it! At least it came of the rim :D
Nikola Šaub 😣 Oh no! Must not work on the softer rubber
@@RCGirl Well that's why I used the spare tire, in case things went wrong ;)
Yea soft tire compounds break down easily and I've noticed that Traxxas just has soft tire compounds for most of they're tires cause my slash tires on my rustler got burned down pretty quickly just street bashing and I blew one of my back tires up so Im thinking getting some proline street fighter SC tires for the front and back then some proline f11 tires for the rear if I want to do some drag racing rn what I have for offroad bashing is some duratrax sidearms and lockups for the rear so I get alot of traction in snow sand dirt and mud
Great video ! Keep up the great work ! without sounding cliche ... "where have you been all my life" ! ? Lol... Great camera work and informative videos. Keep it up !
Awesome tip! I've seen a few other methods, but not any that worked well! Great video!!!👍
Hi rcg! today i just tried the heatgun for the first time and, of course, fat gloves, no hot water, no baking, no use of water or gas, no use of pots or baking pans, no water dropping around and above yourself. I tried both boiling and baking and between the two i definitely choose baking, but today, i really discovered something that i found much more easy.........................goodby
Great method for removing old tires!
MIDWID! Sis.
I just did this. Took about 15 minutes but with a little tug they came right off! You're the best!
Nice! Happy baking this holiday season ☺️
Rubber cookies coming right up!
adding grated cheese on top of it, make it even more delicious! more RC recepies! 😆
You have great tips and your videos are awesome to watch keep up the good work RCgirl.
Tried this today, worked great
Do you prefer gluing the tire on the wheel verses a beadlock wheel? I own a crawler, monster truck and a 2WD short course truck.
Thanks for the info, lovely home you have as well
I like the way you presented your video so I subbed. I'm not balding just my hair is reversing a bit lol. Damn it for being 45.
She's so much better than Martha Stuart. Thank you I didn't know this was possible.
An old man's head.....ouch!!.....i'll live....I subbed you anyway...lol.
Hi I am a new subscriber because this video was so helpful and awesome. I had wanted to replace my balder types without having to get new rims. Thanks for the video. :-)
Sweet! Glad this was useful. I actually had to re-watch my video this weekend when I wanted to take some old tires off rims ;)
Thanks for saying to turn the oven off. So many say to leave the oven on and that's why so many say that it smokes their house up. I pre heat to 325,turn it off, put the tires in, check after 10 minutes. As soon as I pull them out I put the oven back to 325, turn it off and throw them back in. No more than a 30 min process. I then pull the foams out and put tires and rims in acetone to remove any residue if I want to reuse them
Yeah....burning rubber in the kitchen = not fun!! :)
Very helpful, thank you!
Demitri Solvinski Ditto!
Just what I needed to know...! Thankyou RC Girl!!! 👍
Hey, this worked perfectly. You’re awesome, thanks!
thanks for the tire advise, rcgirl! you rock! i love you
This is how I want my woman to spend her time in the kitchen.
Excellent video thanks so much 👍
Four for 5ive bucks?!?! That's pretty cheap, and you got yourself an AWESOME deal!
Just watched a video of yours on how to remove glued tires. Wondering what the shape of the rubber after the baked method. I want to use the existing tires of my TRX4s onto new bead locks. Please advice. Thanks!
I have some 1.0 wheels so I might lower the temp? Thanks. Your videos are great by the way.
Just seen this as I have been searching for a way to remove some SMT10 MT tires, and every method I try doesn't seem to work, I may give this a go but I'd been worried about stinking the house out
Very interesting thanks for sharing so we can learn easy ways to do things 👍
Nice framework 😋
This worked thank you... I almost put my tires in and baked them lol 😂
I've been hearing of the bake method but haven't heard anyone say a time of how long to do this? Do you mean it takes 5minutes or check in 5min and if don't pull apart check again in 5min?.....I have a set of plastic wheels that I already tried acetone on.....didn't come close to loosening them up. Pro-Line Masher Tires on Pro-Line wheels (factory glued, I think)....any tips will be appreciated! Thanks
Thank you. Very helpful and descriptive. :)
Does it damage the tire? Let's say I want to change the wheel and keep the tire! Example, to use beadlock tire on a nice crawler tire. I tried the boiling method and not so so. Difficult to remove the tire and some chunks of tire are missing...
Thanks RC Girl for the video, great info!
Where can I get the monster truck style ones? The are identical to the originals on the Tamiya Mighty Bull
Amazing methods, subscribed and waiting for more
Epic video, keep it up! Do more bashing videos.
Useful information I subbed, my daughter is interested in the hobby she is also taking in a lot from you
I’m trying to get tires off so I can put them on beadlock rims will this destroy the tire?
Very helpful, thank you
0:25 "Balder than an old mans head" I'm dead 😂😂😂😂😂
Really good instructional video. i hope there is going to be more soon???????
Where I can buy a truck Scania of 7 differential.
Or to buy the chassis and to arm it I?
Excellent video.
Greetings!!
Can you reuse the actual tire after being baked?
i think i just fell in love
can you reuse tires if their still good? I need to switch around bashing & worn tires
Can you help me find tires that have markings on the sidewall of 72.00-44-43 ?
You're Amazing. Thanks for the video it was very helpful.
Excellent method lady.. just one thing to ask are the tires u use we're glued to te rim??? Or not.
@@SuperDirtPig yea cool.
Well first try 300 and 7.30 min nothing.second try 320 4 min about half came off. Third try stinky and still some rubber on the bead. I quit. What's your labor rate?
Nice thanks for the video.
Hey i have a question im new to rc cars and i was wondering can u put any tires on any times on rc car with out it messing up?
nice tip, will try to use it!
Good tip :D
Nice feets by the way ;)
the easiest way i found that worked is puttin the wheel under hot water in the sink, you dont need boiling water, just really hot water, when it's hard to hold the hand in it for more than 3sec worked for me, much easier than boiling
I was waiting for the cookies. Lol jk. Good video thx for the help with tire mounting.
how does one look so clean while/after working with rc's. i'm usually thoroughly dirty after a tiniest work
DJhartson lol didn't think i would find yo gay ass here..... I'm about to do this .... got my new rims
Awesome video!I wish there where more Women doing videos.Im subscribing right now;)Are you from the US?
Does it make the oven smell?
Awesome, thank you. Subbed and belled!
RC Girl, you are always awesome with the info. I learned so much from your videos. How long did you bake these ? and what store has bins of tires for $5 ? lol what a score.
It perfectly work. I tried on 4 proline destroyer 2.6
Nice video! 👍
When does the "how to remove" begin?
Could you do a video on assembling tires with foam inserts? Mine come out lumpy...
Hmmm. Is the foam the right size? Do you tape the holes in the rims so that water does not get inside them? I've found that when I don't tape the holes, I've gotten the foam wet and when I run the tires at high speeds the lump up and need to be replaced.
The foam should be the right size, it came with the tires in
the kit. The rubber compound is really spongy, I don’t know if it is supposed
to be like that or if it’s from sitting in my closet for a couple years. I just
finished the build so I haven’t run the car yet, but taping the holes is a good
idea. I’m putting the foam on the rim and then folding the tire over it. I
haven’t glued them yet since they don’t look right after that process. Last
time I built an RC there was no foam, but these wheels look like they need it to
function properly. Do you think my issue might be because of the extended stay
in the box?
Corey Gustafson hmmm haven't encountered that issue before. It could be because the foam is old... I also suggest taping the inside of the tires with gorilla tape (basically cover the inside of the tire with it). This will prevent the tires from "ballooning" when you run it at high speeds.
Idk what I'm doing wrong but this method didn't work for me. I turned the oven back on, baked for another 10 min, nothing, put on for a total of 20 min at 300F and I did get them off but it took a lot of swearing and I'm going to need lots of sand paper as it left a lot behind. Not Sure what else to do.
Okay where did you go now? Haven't seen anything from you since shortly after your move.
I know, i'm the worst youtuber ever! You've inspired me to edit a vid. Up soon!!
