  • Jonny and Richard have collected the Eagle and are sitting in it as they speak. Also in this episode, washing horses, the campaign to get rid of beards, doing work experience with the Red Arrows, monocoque animals, interesting cars in Jonny’s neighbourhood, bleak Fenland houses, the demise of the guard’s van, a railway waiting room horror story, Brazilian trucks explained, ergonomic Danish cutlery, too many sunglasses being worn indoors in Top Gear, and the extremely varied stock of the second hand car dealer that sold this podcast its new limousine. patreon.com/smithandsniff

    I recommend listening to this episode whilst using a home cinema amplifier and 5.1 speakers for the full "Sat in a Limo" experience.

    My first high speed driving offense was being caught by a Senator. I was in a Montego 1600, soon reeled me in on the motorway. I was young and late, neither an excuse but my life that Senator could shift. When in the back of the GM Jam Sandwich recieving my boll#cking I remember thinking how comfortable the crushed velour seat were.

    The opposite of a curry, according to the sublime Goodness Gracious Me is, of course, “going for an English” and having scampi and 6 plates of chips.

    An appropriate name for a group of elite coach drivers? Well, it's the Reg Arrows, obviously.

    The red light on the rear of a train shows that that's the end of the train. If there's no red light, there might be part of the train missing.
    Back in the day, the guard would communicate with the driver using a bell/buzzer system. With different combinations of rings meaning different things

    The ground based red arrows should be in old Arrows formula one cars or since the aircraft are hawks, perhaps Studebaker hawk cars.

    Listening on beach lads. Good pod as ever. Discussing the Fiat Coupe. You said you didn't think it was a 20v. Could be a 16. This upset my head. My understanding is they are all 20v. All a 5 cylinder 20. Turbo or not. I have had 2 in trade back late noughties so could be wrong

    • @bolf

      @@bolf thanks well 5 dedras a Marea and 2 tempras couple 20v coupes you'd think I'd know. My bad. Awful memory. Frightening. Just threw it into Wiki. Better look at how many left wonder if most people grabbed the 20v's when new

    • @jhbmtb
      @jhbmtb Месяц назад

      it was the 2.0 16v for the first couple of years then the 20v came out. The 16v was the Lancia delta engine so has 400 BHP potential and the possibility of 4wd. I had the 20vt and it was one of the best sounding engines ever

    • @zzhughesd
      @zzhughesd Месяц назад

      @@jhbmtb THANKS for this. That makes sense now !!!! I checked WIKI for engines and saw the 1995cc 16v and 1998 20v. An amazing car I took from UK to Milan and back was just the 155 Marea 2.0 20v saloon. Coupe 20v in a saloon.. I loved LOVED that motor. Dedra had 5 in a row as first cars and the 2.0 is as strong as an ox. Had a Dedra Turbo stolen in red. We never got the HF Integrale but did the Turbo in UK
