Works Perfect zero delay if you updates from the first to the last one playing ryu in Smash mapping the stick to the "D" pad awesome
It's a great adaptor!
So you can play modern smash with one of these controllers?? Amazing!!
How do you do button mapping??
Thank you so much for this video! no ones done a May Flash update video, Amazing job, Any chance we can see some footage of Golden eye, I tried playing with my pro controller with the right mappings, just found the aim and movement was too fast and just didn't feel right,
Hey Steven! No worries at all - ya I actually made this video off the back of watching other videos that didn't have the update working yet (though I think the update is pretty recent)
Goldeneye I did actually capture and regret not putting it in this video - Personally it feels very much like the ol' days in feel and response, but I'm not a pro GE player by any means!
Can I use two adapters at the same time for 4 controllers?
You can indeedy!
Has anyone tried using the expansion pak in the N64 controller with a gameboy pokemon game in it while playing Pokemon Stadium on the Switch?
Hey - the adapters are not compatible with expansion paks or memory paks as the Switch doesn't see it as an N64 controller, but more a USB controller - you're not able to transfer Pokemon into the game sadly!
@@TeeChudo you know if rumble works?
thanks, very clear tutorial
No worries! Happy to help!
I love you SO MUCH! Thank you for this!
No worries, enjoy Jonathan!
Thank you ! Great video !
No problem! ☺️🔥
I have a video idea. Pokemon Stadium just came out today for the Nintendo Switch Online service. Can you connect your N64 transfer pack and use your Pokemon on Pokemon stadium? 🤔
Good idea! As far as I know it's not supported sadly :(
@@TeeChu Can you give it a try? I’m only asking because I just tried playing it and the prompts are there asking if your transfer pak is connected. But if you already verified. Bummer.
So the games on the Switch remain untouched - so there'll be prompts like connect transfer pak, rumble pak etc - Nintendo haven't touched the games so the interfaces will be just as they were on the N64
This adaptor doesn't support any pak - memory pak, transfer pak, rumble pak etc as it's designed to be like a standard USB controller plugged into Switch, rather than an actual N64 controller
Nintendo themselves have said that - for now at least - Pokemon can't be transferred I'm afraid.
They may well introduce some functionality down the line, but for now I believe it's rental Pokemon only.
@@TeeChu Yes. The game looks untouched. There a sceeen that says, please connect your transfer pack. And you have to select okay to move on. So I wonder if it’s possible.
@@alexmendez3681 You can't do it on the Switch at the moment because the games are the original as they were on the N64
Hopefully Nintendo will patch something in or if they ever release the original Pokemon games on Switch, have a means of transferring mons in
Can you plug in a game boy game and play it?
Nope unfortunately not
I just bought this and i have put on the latest firmware but after using it for about a minute the controller stops being registered but i know the adapter is still recognizing the controller just not the switch any thoughts on how i can fix this?
Hmm - not sure to be honest! seems like a possibly dodgy adapter if it's cutting out :/
Only thing I can suggest is - trying a different USB port (maybe the adapter isn't getting enough consistent power) or try a different controller if you have one (to eliminate a controller issue)
Other than that, you may need to reach out to the company and ask for any advice!
IT WORKS WITH THE FAKE CONTROLLER! Thanks for this video good sir!
No worries, glad it works!
Can you review the Hyperkin 2-port adapter as well?
Hey - unfortunately I don't have the Hyperkin adapter
I have it. Its good but in goldeneye I'm getting a stick drift on my oem controller
@@cptmike90 only in Goldeneye you mean? the OEM controller works just fine with original N64? The N64 controller works different a little different compared to most modern controllers. When you plug it in, it see the stick position as the X, Y zero position. If the starts to drift over time, then something went wrong with the software I think.
How do I use the “select” option on this controller?
Hmm - I'm not sure you can unfortunately / you're not able to do a remap either (bar swapping buttons)
USB controllers are standard on PC.
Zelda 64 speed runs are going
to surprise us in any% glitches.
Yep they are!
got an issue, my d-pad and analog stick swapped controls for some reason, do you have a fix?
Hey! So swapping the d-pad and analogue stick is a function of the adapter - you can swap it back by holding start and B for 3 seconds - www.mayflash.com/manual/MF103_User_Manual.html
I bought a knock off version of the adapter. Was trying to play super Mario 3-D All-Stars on. It was un successful in adding the 64 controller. Do I go to the change grip order menu? I just want to be sure it’s not user error before I attempt to return the product. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Hey! Yep - you can try to connect it via that menu, if compatible it *should* pick it up as a third party USB controller/generic! I'd reach out to the seller and see if they support it. Annoyingly there doesn't seem to be many that do support the Switch N64 online properly!
Do you know if it would work to plug in the receiver dongle from a Brawler 64 controller? (it has the original N64 socket) That would be great instead of having to buy the newer NSO edition!
Hey! We had another comment saying they were able to do it using the wired Brawler 64 - I assume a wireless one with the original N64 socket should (in theory) work! It maybe worth dropping them a message to double check!
im having difficulty with the Z key. i dont think i have the same converter as my doesnt light up. however the z key works, jus not for the switch online. link wont z target.
(found out the Z key registers as ZR. need to figure out how to change it to ZL.)
Hmmm - it’s tricky as it the converter I use has mapping specifically for the weird switch online mapping! Unfortunately third party adapters I believe can’t be remapped on switch - just joycons and pro controllers
Are you sure on the minus or select button (to get you to the suspend menu) is holding Z and pressing start? I cannot get that to work and other reviewers say you need to use 2 controllers.
Weird - yep! Seemed to work fine for me, you may need the latest firmware possibly!
Try proving the button's, in the part of the sistema in the switch, when you can calibrate de stick and try the button,s, when I press z and start at the same time, the mapping throw it out there is "minus"
I had the same issue, you need the latest firmware update to get that functionality.
What kinda n64 Controller you use?
Hey! The original one in green :)
Do you have mapping picture?
I have trouble with 2 buttom
Hey! You can't map buttons except swap things like A & B
I don't know if you have any control over the ads that play, but to have to watch a 1:26 ad, just to discover this video doesn't cover what I'm looking for, does not sit well with me. That alone will make me avoid your videos, even if I knew they covered what I was looking for. I'll go somewhere else and watch it. 1:30 is way too much ad for a video that is 5:30.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately we don't have control over the ads that play and sorry to hear you couldn't find what you were looking for!
I agree on the length of ad being relatively too long, however those of us who post tutorial videos often spent a long time editing, and any ad revenue honestly does help support the channel.
Likewise I reply to every single comment on tutorial videos - so if you were polite instead of posting a rude message, I could possibly have helped you out.
But hey, give yourself a pat on the back. Maybe you could find a tutorial video on basic manners? Hope that helps!
@@TeeChu I was just giving honest feedback, you’re the one that has “no control” and is getting upset. But if it hurt your feelings, I’m not sorry. More than 25% the length of the video is too much for any channel.
Is thre an extension cord thst is longer than then 6ft. Right now i have one extension cord attached to my adapter to my n64 controller. Which works fine, but adding another the system recognize it but no response. Thoughts on this
Qw
Hey! Do you mean a usb extension cord? Good question - not entirely sure to be honest! Possibly an issue with chaining the usb cables/extentions - have you tried the second one separately to make sure it’s not a cable issue?
It maybe worth trying a longer single extender (not ideal but probably more reliable!)
Thanks for the tutorial, just set it up. Unfortunately there is a big input delay. I'm assuming there's nothing that can be done, it's a hardware limitation. But for games like Mario Party, it shouldn't be a huge issue.
Scratch that. I just tried it on PC emulator, and the input delay was very minimal. Not perfect, but 100x better. So this is either Nintendo purposely or accidentally doing this.
Weird! I'm not seeing much if not any input delay when I've played on Switch hardware using this (though I'm no speedrunner, mind!) It feels - to me - very much like it did on original hardware
@@TeeChu For some reason 3D All Stars Mario 64 is way worse than the version on the expansion pack. On the expansion back it's playable, but it doesn't recognize the Z button very fast. Try doing a longjump in SM64. normally you should be able to press Z one frame before A and it works. Pressing them on the same frame results in a ground pound. By clearly pressing Z before A, it still often ground pounds. Although, that might actually mean Z registers slower than A, which is very strange.
Works Perfect zero delay if you updates from the first to the last one playing ryu in Smash mapping the stick to the "D" pad awesome
@@hacogaofficial5874 I did that, and there is still a strange delay for the Z button. It's not too bad, but if you try longjumping in SM64 on an emulator/N64 and then switch to the Switch version, you'll be able to tell.
Still very playable though.
@@jtaiv2798 so, staying in the switch not trying the PC part, do you recommend that?
eeeh... How accurate is the thumbstick? Does a rumble pak work?
The stick is pretty accurate (personally!) rumble doesn’t work unfortunately!
How do I go between two controllers ?
Hey! The adapter has two controller ports to use
I understand ther are ports, is there a away or something tp press, on controller a, to controller b. Without having to presss thr adapter.
Awesome thank you!
No prob, enjoy!
@@TeeChuDoes this even work with Fake N64 controllers? Because the fake N64 controller I have has a very clicky A and B buttons
@@Rafrip2010 That's a very good question! I can't confirm this but I assume it would - if it works on OG N64 hardware, it should (hopefully) with the adapter!
@@TeeChu I mean, I don’t have the adapter quite yet. But I do plan to get it on Christmas. So it will be a while for me to find out if the Fake N64 controller works or not.
Ah right! @@Rafrip2010 Hope you manage to get it to work :) It maybe worth emailing Mayflash to see if they support unofficial Nintendo controllers - assume it does though!
So would this work for any other traditional switch games (like those that are compatible with gamecube or pro controller)? Or is this really just for the online 64 games switch is re-releasing?
Hey! So it essentially acts as a USB controller with limited buttons - so it can work with other non-N64 games but you'd be tied down to what you have available!
@@TeeChu Good enough for me. I'll have to try it for the price, better than $100 for a scalped Nintendo official one. When I have 64 controllers already! Thank you!
Haha right - I had that exact same feeling!
Does this adapter allow you to calibrate n64 stick?
Unfortunately not from what I can tell - it comes up as a normal USB controller on the Switch
Hey when I hold Z and Start it doesnt open the menu, what do i do abt that?
Weird! Not too sure to be honest - it brings up the pause menu (NOT the Switch home screen) for me - you need to hold both at the same time whilst in the N64 app :) Just retested it! They may have removed it in recent firmware, IDK
@@TeeChu what version are you using? i know it’s not the switch home menu it’s tbe N64 menu i was referring to
@@Charles-iw8qf Hmm - good question, I'm using the one from 2022 - just before this video as I haven't updated yet:
www.mayflash.com/Support/N64_Controller_Adapter_MF103_V10119_Optimize_the_remapping_function_of_the_button_A_and_B.html
Maybe worth trying one of these earlier ones!
@@TeeChu I tried updating it with the version you had and it said it couldn’t update bc I’m on the newest version. Then when I tried it out again it ended up working so thanks for the tutorial mate 👍
Does anyone know if this will work using a Brawler64 wired Nintendo controller ?
I assume it's the one with the wired N64 plug/socket? Good question - I assume it'll work / any controller that works with original hardware *should* work but I'm not able to test the Brawler 64 myself
@@TeeChu Thank you.
@@TeeChu Just popped back to say yes it does work with a Brawler64 wired N64 controller with the N64 plug with the Mayflash MF103.
Does this work for the new super smash bros on switch
Good question! The Switch treats it as a standard controller - so should work :)
@@TeeChu because I watched another guys video and he says to do a smash attack you need to hold down a and b which would be inconvenient and probably would stop me from wanting to use it
Could you send or make a video on it working with smash bros
@@loganandfun3917 Hey! So I may make a video at somepoint *but* I did give it a go for ya
A and B map fine, as does Z, L and R.
Z shields and R throws
The problem is that the N64 controller is a bit short on buttons - so by default the C buttons map to the Right analogue stick of the Switch, e.g. set to Quick Smash attacks in Ultimate
Which could be quite useful BUT it means no tap-jump by default
You can remap this in the button mapping options in Smash, if that helps - but it remaps *all* the C buttons in the Ultimate button mapping options
Holding down the analogue stick to charge a Smash does work on the N64 controller + this adapter, though I did find you had to really press on that stick for it to pick up! Could me that my controller is like 20 years old, though!
But ya - it works pretty well! Fells like you're playing with the OG N64 Smash controls, but in Ultimate :)
Hope that helps!
Yes that helps very much thank you
Too bad this adapter is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to acquire even by secondhand.
True - Tis pricey but the best one I think!
@@TeeChu same with a GameCube styled joysticks. Say, do you know a place where they’re sold for cheap?
@@juani.rodriguez7326 good question! Amazon tbh - didn’t find it cheaper elsewhere
@@TeeChu it’s still expensive there, but thank you regardless.
@@TeeChu I have other questions: have you tried this mod outside the N64 app? Can you remap the B to Y or X?
Спасибо дорогой!
No problem :)
Hi. How do I get my my Home Screen. I. Canot get it tpgo. ? Start nad ZZ
Hmm that should work! Possibly check the version of the firmware you have on the adapter
How do you do button mapping????
Unfortunately you can't change the button mapping (as far as I know) with third party adapters or controllers on the Switch. Only the Pro and Joycon can be remapped. That said you can swap the A and B buttons, for example, and a few other settings :)
@@TeeChu I really wish my right stick was mapped to the D pad 😞
