    I had no idea who Mike Lynch is until this report. Most interesting what I read on Wikipedia about the extradition to US and the criminal trial in June 2024. His co-defendant happened to died being hit by a car while out jogging only days before this sinking. He was found not guilty on all charges by the jury.

      In such cases, in order to counteract the strong effect of the wind and not drift, the engines are started and the bow is turned against the wind. They endured a storm/small tornado for exactly 16 minutes. Most likely, the ship (boats longer than 24 meters are called ships) turned around itself approximately 180° and the ship's propeller got tangled in the anchor chain. Therefore, structural damage occurred in the aft area where the garage and engine room are located, causing a large leak, the ship started taking in water at this point. Perhaps the bulb keel also broke and a 56-meter ship sank in 60 seconds. Nothing happened to the Dutch flagged ship that was about 200 meters next to it. Strong ships of this type can only be sunk by submarine torpedoes.

    With sails CLOSED, there is no way a waterspot can tilt and capsize such a heave yacht since a long mast brings with it a super heavy keel. And even if you capsize, a yacht would not sink and/or take a log time to sink. These waterspots are dagerous but not lethal - it is the huge energy of the lightening that comes with them that is lethal ie can be deadly - if the earth of the mast deteriorated and failed for some reason.
    If lightening hits a mast directly and the earthing circuit fails - you know what happens? It burns a hole right through the boat all along the mast from deck to keel. I have seen a lightening strike that passed through a wire feeding a fax machine - which burned a hole right through an 9 inch STONE WALL !
    Also the fact that 15 managed to go on deck and jump into a life raft means that the boat did not capsize.
    Also I have a feelig that these waterspots (which arise when cold air moves across bodies of water and result in large temperature differences between the warm water and the overriding cold air) were so huge that they tured into tornadoes. Toradoes are a differet story alltogether.
    It will take a log time before we, the public, will know what was the core of this sinking.

    In the picture just before she sank of the super yacht, it shows an older sailing ship anchored very close by, yet the super yacht sank, and the old wooden sailboat didn’t. The super yacht was over valued on how safe it was in rough weather.

    • @mogon721
      @mogon721 2 месяца назад +1

      It's not an old wooden ship, it's a 40 m steel ship built in the late 1950s in East Germany and converted from a tug/icebreaker into a sailing ship after the model of the Baltimore clippers in Lemmer/Netherlands in the 1990s.
      They offer sailing and diving cruises, and the German owner is the ship master. Hence, they don't have to obey the whims of some eccentric billionaire like the crew of that luxury "boat". While certainly a robust ship, I bet they had secured the ship and were prepared for the weather while the other ship had its retractable keel in the upper position and probably had a lot of portholes and the hatches to the lower decks open.
      Under such conditions, a sudden waterspout can push the overly huge mast down onto the sea and the water will be pouring into the turned-on-its-side hull like a tsunami. As a side effect, against the inflow of water, nobody inside the hull will have had much of a chance to get out, not to speak of the fact that the whole deck layout is turned on its side and it's almost impossible to navigate that labyrinth. Probably, much of that desaster would have been avoidable if the handling of the ship had followed higher standards where safety comes before convenience. The sea does not forgive errors. It's hard to tell this to those rich megalomaniacs who think they are the masters of the universe. If the captain was one of those yes-men hired for their attitude rather than their skills, it was an accident waiting to happen.

    • @reecom9884
      @reecom9884 2 месяца назад

      @@mogon721 The survivors said they had less than 5 minutes to abandon the ship when she was knocked down. The Bayesian was a “Party Superyacht” and had wide wrap-around windows and sliding doors. At the base of the huge mast there was a forward party lounge. The forward party lounge was enclosed by glass walls and a door leading out to the weather deck, but only had a canvas covering around the base of the mast as a roof. Once the Bayesian was knocked down the seawater must have ripped the canvas covering the forward lounge and poured tons of seawater per second into the interior of the ship sinking her in minutes.

    • @mogon721
      @mogon721 2 месяца назад +1

      @@reecom9884 You're missing the point. The lounge was part of the OUTSIDE. It doesn`t matter whether the canvas blew away, it was nothing but a sun protection over an open stretch of deck. And regarding the windows on the side of the second deck, you can be sure that it takes more than a water spout to break them. A monster wave does this kind of things, when hundreds of tons of weight are pounding the surface of the hull, but there was none in that night.
      What the lounge was, though, was a massive pool-sized bowl with little capacity of being drained quickly, except for the doors leading into the ship. Once water was in that bowl, it would add many tons of weight to the top of the structure. Combine that with the overly large mast and the retracted keel, and this might have been a large factor in the capsizing. And I'm talking about the water dropped there by the water spout, not by a wave or by the sea.
      And I tell you, the more I hear and read about this, the more I am convinced that this ship was wide open to the sea when it was turned on its side by the wind. Not only were the lounge doors open but probably a lot of port holes and other doors. If you anchor off the coast, EVERYTHING must be closed and secured. In a harbor, you can open what you like, but as soon as you are out of the harbor, close everything. The CEO of the shipbuilder gave an interview last night. Of course, this has to be read with a grain of salt, but much of what he said made much sense. He blames the crew for not securing the ship against bad weather and for having doors open. And it makes sense. The ship could only sink that fast when there were massive openings, i.e. open doors like that of the lounge or the ones in the aft section leading to the stern which you can see on the fotos of the yacht. Even being turned on its side, it should never have sunk that quickly if at all.
      It was a party boat, in that you are right. Discipline and safety amongst those entitled megalomaniacs was hard to enforce. Especially by a hired captain who was at the whims of those rich people and who probably would not risk his job by angering his boss. Hence, the ship was not secured for bad weather, and the dire consequences did follow.
      The CEO talked about some interesting details of the incident. First, the mast lights went out, leaving only the battery powered top light on. Which means that the control boards and the power supply were probably hit by a massive inflow of water (before the boat even turned to its side!). The only source of such water at that point would be the water spout. And the way inside would be the open lounge doors.
      Also, from the AIS data, the ship drifted in the 12 or so minutes before it sank. Meaning it was not properly anchored. Now, given that the divers say the keel was partially lowered, this paints the image of a boat that was not under control, and it would appear that the crew acted much too late. They tried lowering the keel, but since power went out, that failed. The doors were wide open, the water spout poured massive amounts of water inside even before it pushed that massive mast without its necessary counter-weight down onto the sea. And with all the unsecured openings, the hull was being flooded very quickly when this happened.
      This was a preventable accident. As so often, hubris and recklessness lead to death and destruction. Properly handled, this ship should still be afloat, even if you consider things like the lounge design as flawed.

    • @mogon721
      @mogon721 2 месяца назад

      You can't predict a waterspout any more than a tornado.
      Having said that, the boat was overly top heavy with the retractable keel up and thus even more top heavy. Add to that open portholes and probably the hatches down from the top deck because it was very hot. With that mast and a waterspout attacking at the right spot, the boat is turned on its side with the mast flat on the water within seconds and no way it would come back again. Another minute or two until enough water has entered through the openings that should heve been closed, and the boat turns into a coffin on the seafloor. Sometimes it's that simple. The German sail ship Sir Robert right next to it was lucky or probably also handled better since the captain is also the owner and does not have to answer the whims of a rich billionaire like the other skipper. Not equipped with an absurdly tall mast but rigged as a classical two mast schooner, I bet it was much more seaworthy than this rich man's toy. Alas, it was the boat undamaged by the weather and hence capable of rescuing the people who made it in time before the yacht sunk.

    It is very bad luck to change the name of any boat. Bayesium used to be called Salute and changed name in 2014. There are so many tales to be told of fates of boats whose name was changed... just Google them.
    Renaming a boat is considered bad luck, due to deep-rooted superstitions among sailors.
    Changing a boat's name is believed to anger the sea gods and bring misfortune to the vessel.
    To avoid bad luck, sailors perform renaming ceremonies to appease the gods and ensure safe voyages.
    There are so many superstitions related to water, boating and ships in general. One of the most well-known ones relates to the naming of a vessel.

    Around the super yacht there were several fishing boats and smaller ships that did not suffer any damage. We are talking about one of the largest yachts in the world, costing millions of dollars, practically unsinkable. This is clearly a murder with weapons that we, mere mortals, cannot even imagine. Climate change and the creation of storms have been within the reach of governments for several years, as well as directed energy weapons. The same thing happened, again in Italy, on the exclusive Lake Maggiore. Where 10 secret agents of the Mossad died, again on a boat, always in the same way. Who are the instigators is difficult to say. Italy is clearly involved, but we are talking about Russia, and a struggle between bankers and governments. Surely such blatant murders are a clear threat to other powerful people. The world dynamics are changing, it is a period of strong international tensions.
