It’s no secret that LA/ California has wildfires, but it amazes me they seemingly have no other preparations other than normal wildfire tactics in one of the richest cities in the world, At least do something, make roof sprinklers mandatory on new builds or set up multiple water turrets per community that can soak the area before a wildfire reaches it. It may sounds like it wouldn’t work, and it won’t if your in the direct path, but a lot of this and how it spreads so fast is cause by stray embers getting blow by the wind to new areas and setting them alight, even a lightly soaked area will have a much better chance of prevent those embers from finding fuel.
believe it or not, money can't fight the laws of physics. hurricane force winds and low humidity are impossible situations. The most effective (and expensive) ways to fight these fires are helicopter and airplane water drops, but crews were literally unable to fly and were grounded because the winds made it way too dangerous. So the winds were ultimately the biggest barrier in fighting these fires. Even in the last couple days, progress against the fires is possible only because of enormous resources *and* because winds, while still dangerously high, got low enough to allow air drops. once that happened, new fires have much more effectively been halted from encroaching on highly populated areas.
Where on earth is the water pressure needed going to come from when everybody is trying to soak their rooftops with these rooftop mounted sprinklers all at the same time? The simple reason for all of this happening is you have a high concentration of people living in a relatively small area and that's just a recipe for this kind of disaster happening. You can try and mitigate it by clearing brush all you want or coming up with all kinds of other suggestions but sooner or later this type of thing was bound to happen
This is truly heartbreaking. The devastation in California is unimaginable, with thousands of homes lost and lives affected. The only calamity is down to how bad the State was run.
Is that for Palestine?
Now you can imagine how Gazans are going through this is God punishment
So sorry to hear of this disaster! Sending prayers from the uk 🙏🏻
It’s not a disaster. It was caused by the people running the state.
Oh my god it looks like GAZA
@ImtiazPier the difference is, LA will still exist and be rebuilt.
Why is it a "disaster". The fires are perfectly natural, and the locals paid a pretty penny for their luxury cremation plots
Remember Gaza
Remember the savage terrorist attacks and hating jews?
People are allowed to feel sad about this!
I am from Thailand. I would like to express my deepest condolences for the incident that occurred. I hope this situation will come to an end quickly....

Homelessness just increased in LA by 5%

God bless the citizens of Los Angeles. Please watch over my family 🙏🏽🕊️
This is what palestinians live every day for more than one year. Fortunately, they had a way to escape, unlike Palestinians trapped in a cage of fire.
The fire has a right to defend itself. My condolences to the people of Gaza
Terrible. Reminds me of the lightning firestorms that raged a few years ago. Old friend of mine lost his house in that. It was just luck that we didn't get hit here. Instead the lightning sparked it off 10 miles away. So I bought a house on the coast to evade wildfire, and then I got a tsunami warning. For all of our collective power, we're just great apes. Hope everyone out there can stay safe. And that we all remember that none of us have everything figured out. Best we can do is try to help each other.
Well said.. it’s so upsetting and where do you go ? Exactly. I’m watching from Southwest Florida where our area was just devastated by hurricane Milton back in October. We thought of moving but there’s different problems everywhere & we can’t agree so we’re staying put, for now. My heart breaks for all of these people in California.
I will keep everyone in my prayers.
What u on about? The Deep State did this.

I live in southern California have had no power for the last two days--due to high winds and wild fire threat. So, there i was Complaining about all my food going bad but after seeing this i rather have my food go bad than lose my entire home. My condolences for everyones loss i hope you have good fire insurance.

They cut the power and gas for safety. That's what I heard.
We did say free Palestine, now you’re feeling the exact things that the poor Palestinian children are feeling
That’s an understatement
So you’re saying we should make “Palestine” a parking lot to store the fire engines? This might not be a bad idea…
Then go there and help them instead of staying behind screen acting like you really care.
You must be one who glee on 7th Oct.

With all the swimming pools they have in those LA areas I think it could be an idea to invent an automatic system that gets the waters of the pools in case of fire to estinguish it
"It is God's punishment for what you have done to the Palestinians."

Arson investigation. Indeed. Multiple other fires starting up in non-windy areas, in different places, when we're being told wind is causing the fires. There are no high winds in West Hills, where a new fire appeared. There were no high winds in Hollywood Hills, either.

All houses made out of wood? Concrete building won't get burned like this
Funny how we have 0 natural disasters in England yet we have the best building standards
@TheEliteofMMA The UK has the best building standards for the UK. The same building here in Japan would not endure an earthquake. The same goes for California where they have the best building standards for their environment.

I'm so sorry to hear about the wildfires in California. I'm thinking of you and everyone in California during this difficult time
There was no shortage of water. But water distribution was overwhelmed.
Yes, this. They had so many fires and so much demand that they didn't have the water pressure to deal with all of it.
These fires were never going to be stopped by hand-held hoses, irrespective of how much water was available...
Even with enough water, it takes TIME to get that water gathered and travelled to the area needed. And with fires, fire does not care about time, and with strong enough winds, all it needs is 30 seconds and it's travelled many meters and climbed to the tip of trees and houses.
Low water pressure , water cannot reach the hydrants in the upper hills . They've ignored this problem , now they pay ..
Mayor Bass and Newsom mismanaged the water. It’s their fault
