I lived out of my truck topper for three years and loved it. Started with a simple DIY plywood platform, a backpacker's sleeping mat, and a down sleeping bag. Eventually I built a side shelf, storage, Jackery for electric, and propane for cooking and heating. Never had a fridge or ice chest (too much hassle) but still ate pretty well. It evolved into a super minimalist and cozy tiny home and probably the cheapest possible way for a single person to live. When family drama is finally sorted out I plan to go right back to it, hopefully sometime next year. And yeah, Sarah is absolutely right: "Fear is a Liar!"
@@sharkcookie.RUclips Because fear is powerful, it has been used by many to control us. Yes, fear is a liar, and so are the people who use it as a weapon.
Congrats to Autumn for being a Roving Reporter. You did a great job. Thank you also to Sarah. She has just proved that I don't need a bunch of space. Sarah is an inspiration.
Autumn, you are so sweet and very authentic. You are an asset to cheaprvliving. Thanks for the work you are doing along with the other staff to communicate options for those who feel stuck or afraid.
I Love her set up and you can't beat a Toyota! Thanks to Bob Wells, I've lived in my 2004 Highlander for the past 6 years and she has 510,000 miles on the odometer! I hope to see her cross over a Million miles and adventures, in my Lifetime...
Planning now for future. On SS 600 a month. Husband health is not good. When he passes. 600 is all I have coming in. I have lots of family but I don't want to depend on their house to live.So starting to saving for a van.In the mean time making my car into a living space so when I go camping I can try it out.
Check with social security. If you are under 65, you can get widows benefits, after 65, you can apply to see if you can get up to 1/2 his social security, and at any age, if you make under ($1100?) you qualify for SSI from social security, it will depend on the amount of your income. She would also qualify for food stamps and various other help. I am hoping to be a van lifer before summer! I make slightly more than what would qualify me for any help, but not enough to pay rent on, but that is OK, since I've always wanted to be a nomad anyway! I have a van atmosphere, I also have everything one would use in a sticks 'n bricks, so although I will need to get rid of a LOT of things, I shouldn't need to add much to what I already have...
At 65 you can apply for Supplemental Security Income - SSI . My friend started drawing $560 Social Security at 62 and recently turned 65 and got an additional $400 in SSI
I started out in a truck shell over the bed of truck. Apt living ate up my $$. I worked as a certified caregiver for elderly and disabled in their homes. My address is my mailbox. Sometimes I did overnight caregiving and a few clients allowed me to shower in their home and I would clean the bathroom. Later, I bought a small towable used travel trailer. And found a few temporary RV parks and another time on someone's property. I took classes at a community college and again later regrouped to online work with my laptop then travelled with my truck & travel trailer, did my online work and I never looked back to Apt living, renting a room or sharing a house. I feel like an independent rich person, but I'm not. Point is, when you got the faith, will, and drive (no pun intended), a person can turn their life around. Reason I stayed with my truck rather than a class-c or van is because it is paid for and a very versatile piece of equipment. Happy trails all! Merry Christmas and never give up on your Hope.
Being alone and not knowing where to park for the night are the two things I don't look forward to in vanlife...I am such a people person and seek separation only periodically. I like my own space, but like someone "next door: to me.
I love her approach to life and her simple, yet elegant solutions to living on the road. This is one of the best simple “builds” I’ve seen and really like it!
Sarah love your setup and your vibe! So practical and common sense. I like the idea of spring weather chasing, having coffee at the river. Hope I run into you someday…
Autumn you have a great presence and are a natural on camera. Your kindness and sincerity shine through with others. I know you have your own channel and I think you’re an excellent addition the CRVL team!
First of all I am glad her short hair is by choice. I'm a man with long hair and surprised that some people don't understand that. Next, I'm over six feet tall, and yet I look up to someone like this. This is another person I want to listen to. When I lived the nomadic lifestyle, it was in my RV and popup trailer. She has done more with her set up than I have.
I was relieved to hear her say the hair was by choice because my baldness was due to chemo and I was afraid she was in a truck while undergoing treatment!
If I lived in a truck camper I would get tools and supplies to cut the roof off, build my own frame to attach to the old camper shell to convert it into something taller using poor man’s fiberglass over a thin 4x8 poplar board with holes cut out for the existing windows. Home Depot even rents tools so this project might only cost $300 and take one day (with one helper) to create life changing space. It would allow Walmart drawers with a board countertop type space, a real sized twin mattress (when the budget allows) and space for a short person to almost stand up in. I have been contemplating doing this to a Toyota Sienna to create a space me and my cat could live in for 3 years until I could afford something better.
I'm always in my truck topper all summer long camping. I love it! I hold a regular job so i can only do it on weekends but when i turn 62 I'm taking my SSI. I love traveling.
So cool to see this video with Sarah!!! I met her while heading to the eclipse in Texas. We had an instant bond with our Baby Yodas. :) She has some sweet ideas and love what she said about Fear.
Thanks Sarah, for sharing on this topic. Though perhaps a little less common or mainstream, I'm not surprised that it sparks interest as it involves important lessons and experiences that are foreign to many people that might need them. 💟
My issue is income. How will I make money living on the road? This is my only concern. I have a SUV that’s paid for. Don’t want to run through saved money. Without having a way to earn something
There are so many nice things about this lady, I don't know where to start. Great video. Autumn, you are doing absolutely spectacular, your body language shows enthusiasm and attentiveness to the person that you are interviewing, I would humbley suggest you dial back the movement just a bit, it can be a little distracting. You are still a 10 out of 10.
There’s a certain limit to the tight space that I couldn’t personally handle and I respect some people‘s ability to make it happen. I do look at large vehicles and think that’s just too much for me. For a fridge if I was doing fan life, I think I would probably need electric for a computer even if it’s a low power computer and a fridge.

Well, no one can replace Bob, but Autumn's voice and interview style are growing on me. 😊
I really love Autumn's energy and friendliness!
"Fear is a liar" So true

Loving the new video lady. Great pick Bob! 👏🥰
Same here!!
Another great interview & tour, Autumn. I love Sarah's attitude and how well she has figured out what works for her.

That’s amazing!! Second or third transmission??
Wow yes Toyota’s engine’s are incredible I’m pushing 300,000 on my tacoma and it just keeps running but I do maintain it regularly. 😊

@maxineputze7778 do you live in Az? . I'll go with you if you'd like company.

Awesome testimony
I'd love to travel with this lady. She seems so calm and accepting.

A happy lady with a plan that works. Thank you Autumn for featuring her and her set-up.
I lived in my truck topper for three years. Loved it! I have now moved into my self-built gypsy wagon. Love this too!
Sarah love your setup and your vibe! So practical and common sense. I like the idea of spring weather chasing, having coffee at the river. Hope I run into you someday…
THANK YOU FOR ASKING THE SAFETY QUESTION. I THINK THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHERE YOU GO TO THE BATHROOM OR HOW YOU TAKE A SHOWER.
Her solution for washing up is ingenious. The "Toy-Yoda" and her little dog make me hope to find her on our travels and break bread someday.
Genius reuse of the laundry detergent bottle!!
I like Sarah’s upbeat attitude and I also like this sweet new roving reporter!
Hey I’ve got some extra food I won’t be able to eat you want some. That is a good way to meet people.
Autumn you have a great presence and are a natural on camera. Your kindness and sincerity shine through with others. I know you have your own channel and I think you’re an excellent addition the CRVL team!
Great use of space snd attitude!
I enjoyed your sharing of your live on the road Sarah!

@@dross24MA I thought about that myself.I am also sorry you have had to go through that. Let's pray for a full recovery.
Autumn is a natural! She has stepped into her calling! 🎉🎉🎉 Great job!

Autum another great tour. Sarah, love your simplicity and your spirit.
I love her that is a great truck and all her wonderful tips ❤️
What a really cool, positive person, some great ideas as well
Took me a bit 🤣 "Toy-yoda" Cute. Love her energy.
I wished i had done this too, bad neighbors and bad landlords
I,m so happy for you. May god bless you always.
I could never poop in that little can 😂. She has my admiration for that and for a great home space.
That would take great aim
Good video. Thanks to the both of you
I'm always in my truck topper all summer long camping. I love it! I hold a regular job so i can only do it on weekends but when i turn 62 I'm taking my SSI. I love traveling.
Great video
❤❤ Love your gratitude shirt, so I'm so grateful. Thanks for sharing your camping live with us amazing the less we have the happier we are
I have a 4x4 Tacoma with a camper shell. It’s also my plan to live out of it if I ever get evicted . However I think a fridge is a must have.
So cool to see this video with Sarah!!! I met her while heading to the eclipse in Texas. We had an instant bond with our Baby Yodas. :) She has some sweet ideas and love what she said about Fear.

Great video Sarah 👍
Excellent video. "Follow the weather," both horizontally and vertically.
Well done, Autumn & Sarah! "Fear is a liar." Truer words. 💖
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
Another great video Autumn. You are so good at making people feel comfortable, even if they aren’t used to being on camera. 👍😎
Hi beautiful Autumn 😉
Love the name of the rig!!!
Thanks for another excellent video Autumn.
You are such an amazing inspiration ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing these different perspectives! Much appreciated!❤
Super cool you are a inspiration ❤️
Sarah, I love your Toyota and how you have made it into a tiny home.
That 2012 Toyota Tacoma is one of the most reliable trucks ever built. They can last more than 500,000 miles with proper maintenance.
Sinead O'Conner your looking good, great vid, love your work, much love
Great Job, Autumn! You're the Peter Jennings of van life interviewers.
Great content 👌. Very nice setup.
You can buy a portable bidet instead of using toilet paper
You can also use lime juice for deodorant and a little bit of baking soda works wonderful
Good video. Sarah has it down to a science. 😎👍
Well done ladies❤❤🎉🎉
Great attitude.
Love these interviews with these intrepid nomads🤙✨🤓 inspiration, embodiment of openness & flexibility
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Sarah! 👍
Autumn is lovely
Great set up. Unfortunately no good in Canada as you would freeze to death. Great video 😁
Nice setup 🥰
NICE
Yay cheap living gotta ❤ that..
My issue is income. How will I make money living on the road? This is my only concern. I have a SUV that’s paid for. Don’t want to run through saved money. Without having a way to earn something

Autumn is a great interviewer!
A female version of Bob, very person able!
And prettier!
Joke,,,,, I could "fall" for Autumn!🍁
both Autumn and Bob are special and unique, each is his/her own way.
that's WAY too much space! Live on a skateboard, like Bob does. And his "summer home" in Alaska is a pair of rollerskates!
I love this so much!!! Autumn, you are doing an amazing job! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Thanks for the video. How does she close up the tail gate once she is in the camper?
I close the tail gate and crawl through the back window, and close said window behind me.
Please ask people about insulation and safety. (fire, CO2, securing things, etc.)
What an amazing woman!!!! You do what you gotta do! Warmest blessings to her!
Awesome video!❤🙂
Hello from Puerto Rico friends
Sara that's great advice.
She should secure the back window gate on her camper so if the wind picks up it doesn't slam down on her head unexpected
she is a smart cookie !
Awesome(:
Awesome interview. May the good Lord watch over you and your family and friends. Peace and Love 😊.
