I’ve set my expectations very low and being deliberately pessimistic about anything Paradox or the dev team say.
Cities Skylines 2 and other Paradox titles have taught me this. They have gained a reputation for amazing pre-launch marketing, then releasing a barebones game, filled with bugs and they’ll then slowly patch it over the course of a few years while selling you DLC for features that should have already been in the game.
It’s actually genius on their part, they keep customers suckered into the promise of “fixing the game”, customers stay loyal and remain hopeful of eventually getting the product they thought they were getting, so they’ll buy the DLC to give themselves the feeling that the game is improving.
This will go on for years.

It's literally EA's "Sims" MO and it worked for decades for EA up until SimsCity 2013 was a buggy mess while Cities: Skylines (2015) was not. This will go on until another company with better ethics makes a competing game.

@@PrisonArchitectOfficial I've been a great fan of prison architect ever since I first got it. This game looks absolutely amazing, and I do have a suggestion. It could be a 'Customizable Emergency' section, where you could, like the emergencies tab in prison architect, call emergency services and initiate emergency 'Protocols'. I'm suggesting you can custom a 'Protocol', such as, I could make a custom lockdown where it locks doors for certain types of staff, and sets off some kind of alarm. You could also make a Fire 'Protocol' and a emergency assembly area so when you initiate that, staff and prisoners will proceed to that area.

A 3D perspective is always welcomed as long as it doesn't allow for devs to be lazy with the content.
Such as copy paste and just brush overs or super niche cosmetics that are just for looks and add no real value to the prison environment itself.
I will also lay it here. Don't cut parts of what made the original game good and instead add to what already worked.
Most triple A companies fail because of this simple crucial step. Build up and improve what was already there instead of over simplifying things or just flat out cut them from the content.

Locking the extra dangerous prisoners behind armed guards and separate walls.
After you built a prison it was always fun to try and keep things from becoming too chaotic, if those things are preserved, then this is on the way to being a very good successor to PA1.

In the beginning I was worried about it becoming too cartoonish. The first trailer looked like that. This looks slightly better.
I also like how the pipes now copy the cables in delivery.
And I am suddenly imagining big rooms with walkways above for officers to patrol, like in a canteen.

Well well, looks great and fun to play, looking forward to it.
However, after observing how the game industry milks games over the past several years with DLCs and fucked up launches because $$$ is far more important than player satisfaction I will wait the first few days after release and see how the reviews on Steam will be. Saved myself quite some money and let other people be the angry ones instead of me.

Attention! Do not buy a pre-order! Wait for the first reviews, watch a few reviews on RUclips, and only then decide whether you need this game or not. (Otherwise it will turn out like with CS2) And you don't get much for pre-ordering, but there is a chance that you will just waste money because of the postponement of the game indefinitely. And this applies not only to the PS2 or Paradox, but also to all new games that have not yet been released. (GTA 6 is no exception) So please be financially literate and do not throw money around just like that, this especially applies to people from Russia when games cost 30-60 dollars, although people have an average salary of 400 dollars, which may not even be enough to live on (Yes, I know that they earn more in Moscow, but we are now talking about 99% Russia) Good luck to you my friend

Don't let these hype vids fool you.
We're talking Paradox Interactive, the same publishers responsible for Cities Skylines 2.
Like CS2, they are gearing up to build the hype all over this game with free game copies given to influent content creators. These copies more often than not, betray Paradox' official releases.
Do NOT PREORDER, do not be blindly robbed and compliant based on what they want you to see. Be critical and buy only when there is substancial proof of a finished release build is closed.
The gaming community thanks you for this.

They SEEM, from this at least, to have nailed it.. unlike another game Paradox have.. ermmm.. ruined. So, let's hope that this isn't just another Paradox smoke-n-mirrors marketing attempt. But this vid looks wicked.. as does the game too.

@@GorillaWithACellphone Wrong. It's the same game in every sense except for the 3D artstyle and new content. Same devs, same name, same gameplay - even tho none of these things are required for it to be considered a direct sequel. Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. Fallout 3 is a direct sequel to Fallout 2 (even tho it has different devs). Since you obviously have no clue what the term means I pulled up the definition for you:
"A spiritual successor is a product or fictional work that is similar to, or directly inspired by, another previous work, but (unlike a traditional prequel or sequel) does not explicitly continue the product line or media franchise of its predecessor."

    • @GorillaWithACellphone

This tease looks really great. Hope this game will feature a campaign in the sense that you begin with "easy" prisoners, and have to deal with harder prisoners. In each mission you already start with a prison/ers level x and then you will basically have to upgrade the prison for the prisoners level x+1 so its still safe. For better understanding I'm more a casual single player, like some story and want to improve / build prisons. I want some freedom, but for a campaign to work I think you also need some restrictments, cuz players will try everything they can :D
I don't want to be in need to watch videos for explanation, the game should teach that in a fun way. Difficulty levels may be a nice option for players like me who want to relax and no hardcore sim.
Even if not ready at the start, hoping for some story / campaign.
