Maybe you will. I got my s550 GT in 2016 brand new. Coolest experience ever sitting in it for the first time and starting it. I love my car. She isn't perfect but I love her just as much. I recommend getting one. You won't regret it :)
Ok, I have owned a S550 for a couple years now and this are my suggestions from my experience. Just for reference I have a 2017 Mustang GT with the performance pack with the manual transmission. The first mod I would recommend would be a clutch pedal spring. Steeda's spring really helped with the feel of the clutch for all you manual trans owners out there. Owning the car for years and still having no feel on when the clutch was engaging was irritating to say the least. I know its cheap and seems stupid but trust me, if you want to feel the car and how it drives it is a must have. Your talking under 30 dollars folks. Next would be the rear independent suspension and wheel hop. Before you start adding power you want to get the power it already has to the ground right? 430 HP and 400 Ib ft of torque are respective in there own right. There are two mods I recommend for this: first, the Steeda IRS rear subframe braces and Aluminum Delrin Bushing vertical links. I have not noticed any decrease in ride quality or NVH with the performance pack. But the difference in rear end handling is like night and day. The rear end of the car seem firmly planted and it feels more secure and solid during hard launches. It eliminated the wheel hop for me. Now you can start adding power, and that is at your discretion. Just know you may want stickier tires, and depending on the power your pushing you may have to upgrade the driveshaft and halfshafts.
The first thing I upgraded on my 2015 GT PP bought used in April were the LED lights by Diode Dynamics including sequential front turn signals with DRL feature, sequencer for the tail lights, LED side markers and LED interior lights. Yesterday I finished installing the Steeda Stop the Hop Kit - differential bushings, rear vertical links, bushing support system, rear subframe support braces and alignment kit. I really recommend this first of all. Wheel hop is gone and the shifter feels a lot better now. With that said the Barton is getting prepped for the install. Do the Wheel Hop Kit first, it's a must!!!
Oh all you need is a spring compressor? Because everyone has one of those right? And dropping the subframe on a car with a 3 inch ground clearance isnt bad? Yeah not to you with a full service shop with a lift in the background 😂
@@ravjitkaursodhi3018 do not get yhr v6....it is a decent performance car and can be made quick fairly easily but the visceral experience alone with the v8 is worth the price of admission lol. Def get the older v8 in that case but id recommend a 2015 and up v8
I got a '16 GT PP with new rims n tires, only 24k miles...still smells new..has long tube headers, x-pipe n stock mufflers, and a tune...I got flowmasters n k&n filter. Man I love driving this thing, still smells new n looks great!
I'm very new to cars. Bought my 2015 GT 50th Yr last year $28K 18K miles. First things i did were ceramic coat, replace tires, & tint windows. From mod standpoint, Catback/springs are a must. Sway bars I heard different. CAI I'm debating since I live in CA and need CARB EO. Next is chin, spoiler, side skirts, door scoops. I also put on caliper covers.
Yes. Ford also puts some on their pick ups and their new spanky $58,000 Explorer ST's with 400HP. I spoke with a Ford parts counter guy and he hinted that they are getting problems with these plastic pans.
@@AStanton1966 Well damn, I certainly don't like the sound of that. Now I am hesitant to shell out for a newer Mustang... Seems odd for Ford considering they have a good track record with their reliability. I definitely need to do more research before I pull the trigger on one of those newer models then
Nice list. But, for me, I went with Corsa Xtreme cat-back. Suit case has got to go! Couldn't agree more with the shifter. It is one of my next modifications. Great video! Thanks.
Wish Ford offered an upgrade option for the manual transmission to give you the Tremec transmission from the Shelby GT350. The MT82 is by far the thing I hate the most in my 16 Stang. Even after installing the Barton Shifter which I have, it still doesn't feel near as good as a true Tremec transmission.
The stock Mustang has a cold air intake, and it does flow very well. And actually, you can get more flow through a flat-face air filter element than through a conical one. I can see some benefit from tuning the engine to suit the climate the engine will be operating in, but that's about it.
In case you guys have forgotten we have evolved from caveman status, y’all are wrong for some of the comments. You have to know she sees this too and probably doesn’t need the additional harassment she likely already gets from being a woman in a predominantly male field... Now moving on to the car, i personally went with the Corsa Extreme Cat Back. Its almost too loud and a borderline too raspy but when its in the zone... its fire. I recently bought the 2018 manifold exhaust to swap onto my 2015 but after realizing I forgot to look at tuning options I am debating what to do next. The price point of the Ford PP2 is great but I wonder if it’ll leave me wanting more. Any thoughts or personal experiences y’all could share?
Don't lower the car move to 19'' to 20'' rims & tires ! Go with the Borla ATAK- 3'' cat back , then a 3.0 JLT oil catch cam for sure. I like this air-filter- The Saleen S302 High Flow Filter (15-18 GT) Dry filter !
Affinity when you get new wheels and tires the gap becomes a lot more noticeable, therefore lowering springs will be a must! Also depending on how low you go there is hardly a difference in ride quality
Affinity it’s not about the size of the rim it matters on the width of the tire. You’ll see the gap between the tire and fender will be huge once you put the new wheels
Well they look the same since the wheels I put on are the same dimensions. I will say S550s do look better lowered a little bit than factory height but factory height is still much better than previous Mustangs and not a must fix item. Stock suspension is way too floaty, so I'm going with adjustable coilovers. I still stand by lowering springs ruining the ride quality.
I own a 2017 GT and don't waste your money on the cold air intake. The factory airbox has enough airflow. Get the K&N filter with the new inlet tube. Forgot the part number, but its enough to make a difference. Then get rid of the resonator and get a h or x pipe, depending on what your trying to do with your car. Think of it this way, h-pipe = better low end torque and HP, x-pipe better high end torque and HP. When you get that then get the rear stabilizer links to reduce the wheel hop. Then get the tune on the engine computer and enjoy.
I just ordered and received a K&N filter for my 2017 GT one week ago, I can confirm that it’s the best thing you can do, even if you’re like me and have a 5-year warranty and don’t want to mod the car heavily.... yet
A couple months ago, I was at the parts counter at the Ford dealership where I bought my Mustang. One of the parts guys said that some Mustang owner leaned out his engine so much with an air intake mod, that he burned his entire engine out.
Good to know i'm not far off when thinking Exhaust, Tires, Cold Air Intake, and Tune should be the first mods I do to my Mustang once I get it! Thanks for sharing this information with us!
Got my 16 gt premium back In feb with only 12k miles on it and with the factory 36 month bumper to bumper which ends in mid 2019 and also with the extended 7 year power train warranty and it's a certified car "which lets me honest I'm sure they don't check all 150 components like they claim" but got it for only 28k out the door. A year and a half ago it went for 45k. The 18's coming out loaded the dealers up with used stangs and I took advantage of this being I hate the 18's front end and also being ford resale value fucking suuuuucksssss.. the dealer tried so hard to get me into a 18 but I had my mind made up and I knew for sure a 18 was not for me! Got everything I wanted down to the heating and cooling seats and a added bonus with the car it came with a full borla exhaust that ford installed also from the previous owner. I stole this car and I'm damn proud of it!
Wow, firstly you look amazing and I love that you have a mustang and know so much about them! I am hopefully picking a 2017 S550 up on Saturday, it’s had eibach lowering springs, roushe axle back and cold air intake. Think it has had a remap but not sure. They only make 416 or 421ps stock in the UK but we do have 95 RON fuel as standard with 99 RON readily available so guess there’s a bit of scope with ODB2 tuning? Thanks, great video - do you still have yours?
All that and they missed the easiest mod (and possibly most useful if you actually work on your car.) Look at 7:20 How about replacing that damn hood rod with pneumatic struts? Easy. Looks much better and useful. I still don't know why Ford doesn't at least offer that as an option. I think it should be standard. Who out there is going to say they prefer the hood rod?
Not a deal killer... struts or prop rod really don't matter - unless you are one of these guys who go to the drive-in then open the hood to show off all the "shiny things" installed on the car. Its not like you got dual 4brl carburetors or running 4 Weber 48's (not a good idea anyway - unless you are going "retro", are just trying to be different ...... fuel injector are not that flashy. These new engines all look the same... unless you put on a Super Charger. or turbos.
I would like to request started mods for your Ecoboost mustang 2015-2018, I know some of the mods can be applied to the 2.3T but I would like something specific to it, thanks!
So a few things, 1.) one of the supplied nuts stripped when putting on very gently with a ratchet, had to use one of the old bolts, looked identical, so is that OK? 2.) I had MORE amount of thread sticking out to bolt this too on the passages side, then driver, and yea both sides have the brace going to fire wall, should their be more thread sticking up on one side then the other? What are those treads from anyway? I know the other three behind what the brace bolts to see the strut…
Great review, if not a bit GT centric. Now, before the haters arrive to rain on my parade - do you have any specific product mod suggestions for a 2018 Ecoboost?
I just bought a 2015 mustang gt. Can I take my gt to you guys and pay you for all the mods mentioned and done on this episode? Thanks for the video, gave you thumbs up.
I won't be doing an expansive shifter like that maybe when the clutch goes.. But for now all you really need is the STeeda Shifter, Steeda Bracket, And Steeda Trans Insert.. I haven't missed a gear or ever been locked out with stock set up.. I take her to Red 1st 2cd, 3rd, and 4th with zero issues.. But maybe I am lucky..
I would never drop my car any lower... If anything I would want a Taller Tire in the Back... I just want a shorter shifter and the Steeda Bracket and insert for the trans mounts and shifter. But my very first mod was the Steeda spring.. It makes clutch feel nice...
My picks for a 2017 GT with Performance Pack option. 1: Tail light sequencers (Just plain must have mustang coolness) 2: LED interior and reverse lights (I can actually see now) 3: Ford-Borla Cat-Back exhaust* 4: Ford Performance Pack #2 (Cold Ait Intake, GT350 Throtle Body and new program tune)* 5: Aluminum Rear Window Louvers (A real head turning upgrade) 6: Hood Gas Struts (Convenience) 7: Ford Performance Oil-Air Separator (Performance and looks) * Added #3 and 4 together and upgraded the tune. Noticable power increase. This upgrade was worth every penny two times over. Can now idle on the freeway at 80mph and get 30mpg! Better mpg than my daughters EcoSport, my son's V6 Mustang or my Girlfriends Escape. Of course the mpgs disappear when you use the new found performance. Next. 1: Shifter Kit 2: Suspension. Jack Rails, Frame Braces Have a 2020 Shelby GT500 Golden Ticket on order so I won't be needing to add a blower to this list. Besides my built 800hp 1992 Mustang convertible has 28 pounds of boost so the 2017 will be my ecconomy around town daily driver.
Well guys you both are misunderstood, I have a 3v and I have learned a lesson. I'm not going to be throwing more money into the engine. I'm going to keep the car though. Because it's rare. I do want a stock coyote. 11-14 is my favorite lol
Boosted Media Channel learned what lesson? Also how am I misunderstood? Stage 3 comp cams done properly (Dyno tuned) will get you good power gains with coyotes. Even 2015 and up
Call I would like to see the numbers on the 2018 mustang performance pack one with a D pipe and possibly cold air intake if there’s one available even for the 2018 at this point.
My 2021 Mustang GT premium was a big lemon. I could live with the cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics but the clucky garbage 6 speed manual transmission was just garbage! I'm not the only one who thinks so, look at the class action that has been launched against Ford. Fortunately I was able to sell it and buy a real car from another manufacturer. My car has the stock 19” performance pack wheels and I still lowered it
The s550 wheel gap is pretty minimal from the factory unlike s197. Skip the lowering springs unless you want bad ride quality.
Affinity when you get new wheels and tires the gap becomes a lot more noticeable, therefore lowering springs will be a must! Also depending on how low you go there is hardly a difference in ride quality
I'm putting new wheels on today. I have 19" PP wheels and staying at 19".
I agree, mines stock and people think it’s Lowered
Affinity it’s not about the size of the rim it matters on the width of the tire. You’ll see the gap between the tire and fender will be huge once you put the new wheels
Well they look the same since the wheels I put on are the same dimensions. I will say S550s do look better lowered a little bit than factory height but factory height is still much better than previous Mustangs and not a must fix item. Stock suspension is way too floaty, so I'm going with adjustable coilovers. I still stand by lowering springs ruining the ride quality.

From experience save your money on an aftermarket cold air intake. The stock one is just as good, just drop in a K&N air filter and you're set.

I would like to request started mods for your Ecoboost mustang 2015-2018, I know some of the mods can be applied to the 2.3T but I would like something specific to it, thanks!
The Ecoboost Mustang is basically a modern day Mustang SVO.
I owned a 1998 Mustang but I really want a 2015
Dont spread the word! Shhhh that way we can all buy a first gen s550 for 25k.. that's usually what they go for lol
Damn Stephanie ❤️ 😍
I love seeing her car, it makes what is said that much better because she uses these mods.
Kooks Axle-back...really?! I worked for Kooks and their products are crap!!!! Borla or Corsa PLEASE!!!!
Great review, if not a bit GT centric. Now, before the haters arrive to rain on my parade - do you have any specific product mod suggestions for a 2018 Ecoboost?
Same mod list actually. Intake ,tune, exhaust, springs . Tune at the top for EcoBoost
2amd lives a tampon
@@slanginandbangingtactical1829 😂😂😂😂
John Paul like I said in my comment, predictable...
I just bought a 2015 mustang gt. Can I take my gt to you guys and pay you for all the mods mentioned and done on this episode? Thanks for the video, gave you thumbs up.
Excellent suggestions. I’m in the market for my first Mustang and this helped with my research.
Do a video for Ecoboost mustangs too
WOW i'm watching and don't even have a Drivers License (suspended)...thank goodness for Librarian Glasses and Stretchy Jeans....love the Tat!!
I have an s197 but I stayed here for the gorgeous Stephanie of course
The cracks on the kooks exhaust is just 🤤🤤
How does that 5.0 on the dyno with mods only make 390hp, stock is 430 for the 5.0 of that year
Considering drivetrain friction loss it's not that bad. If loss is around 20%, that's about 465hp at the crank.
The dyno measures hp at the wheels, but the manufacturers always give you hp at the crankshaft. There are losses in the drivetrain.
You guys are killing me, I can't stop laughing. Especially the glasses guy who might have low test....
1st mod get a gen 3 coyote 😂
I got axle-back borla atak, trust me. It sounds really really nice, go ahead and try it guys
Lower yo shit in Miami if you want to lol, you’ll be needing a new bumper and paint to go wit dem mods
I know this video is old but shorty should have worn some black boots wit that fit it would have popped tho
Sound lazy and slow
I won't be doing an expansive shifter like that maybe when the clutch goes.. But for now all you really need is the STeeda Shifter, Steeda Bracket, And Steeda Trans Insert.. I haven't missed a gear or ever been locked out with stock set up.. I take her to Red 1st 2cd, 3rd, and 4th with zero issues.. But maybe I am lucky..
I couldn't agree with you more about the air intake as if you have an open element you're only bringing hot air into the engine
I would never drop my car any lower... If anything I would want a Taller Tire in the Back... I just want a shorter shifter and the Steeda Bracket and insert for the trans mounts and shifter. But my very first mod was the Steeda spring.. It makes clutch feel nice...
They will write a custome tune for you and void your warrenty all at the same time
Hey wait didnt you tear up a drive shaft?.. i think i will stick to my 2017 calf edition just the way it is...
she had a carbon fiber one driveshaft... thats the worst thing for drag time. maybe like casual driving or time trial but not for pushin power
at 11:39 I finally realized there were 2 cars in the background
My picks for a 2017 GT with Performance Pack option.
1: Tail light sequencers (Just plain must have mustang coolness)
2: LED interior and reverse lights (I can actually see now)
3: Ford-Borla Cat-Back exhaust*
4: Ford Performance Pack #2 (Cold Ait Intake, GT350 Throtle Body and new program tune)*
5: Aluminum Rear Window Louvers (A real head turning upgrade)
6: Hood Gas Struts (Convenience)
7: Ford Performance Oil-Air Separator (Performance and looks)
* Added #3 and 4 together and upgraded the tune.
Next.
1: Shifter Kit
2: Suspension. Jack Rails, Frame Braces
Have a 2020 Shelby GT500 Golden Ticket on order so I won't be needing to add a blower to this list. Besides my built 800hp 1992 Mustang convertible has 28 pounds of boost so the 2017 will be my ecconomy around town daily driver.
Clean and simple! Great top picks! Definitely can't go wrong with anything on that list. -Zach
Cries in Australian, they don't let us have any fun
Who is she ?
Mine just came out of the shop with a custom tune and had camshafts installed. I will pick the car up tomorrow.
Boosted Media Channel what you install camshaft for ? Tf
KINGKJ2REAL uhhh. Power duh
GetShrektMrKrabs for the money cams do almost nothing for the new 5.0s
I want one ;(
I got a 2019 but Imma stay tuned
R3 Gaming Production lucky
My 2021 Mustang GT premium was a big lemon. I could live with the cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics but the clucky garbage 6 speed manual transmission was just garbage! I'm not the only one who thinks so, look at the class action that has been launched against Ford. Fortunately I was able to sell it and buy a real car from another manufacturer. It's no wonder Ford stopped building cars...I'll never buy another Ford...EVER!
Don’t lower your car! Unless your track the car every weekend
my dream car all your videos and i love all the mustangs i eco boost gt shelby roush and bullet and supercharger are bad as you start the motor igtion is beat horses heart open door got ground effect also i like about your mustang modes sport quit there so bad ass go to the car put them in key in pocket role electric from button outside car also super charger tin turbos some the stuff you do is amazing inspire me one my dream to haven mustang again 69 mustang but sold stupid thing but couldn't afford the build a the time need car cause in college at time and RTR MUTSANG THAT GUYS NAME I HAVE HAVE BRAIN INJURY PUSH MYSELF EVERY DAY TO REMEMBER THINGS ITS A BATTLE BUT ITS IT I TO BE MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER I LOVE YOU DONE 2018 TO 2016 THERE ALL AMAZING FORD AND SHELBY BULLET AND ROUSH AND EVERYTHING DOING IS AMAZING CAUSE ITS STARTS A DREAM YOU PUSH HARD STAY FOCUSED DETERMIND ALL YOUR DREAMS ARE POSSIBLE MY MEMORY BAD FIXING IT CANT DRIVE AT MOMENT BUT IF I COULD BE MUSTANG BEEN FAVORATE IF YOU GUYS CAN MAKE CARS THAT BRILLANT AND AMAZING MAYBE ITS POSSIBLE TO INSPIRES TO KEEP FIGHTING IM TALKING TO MUCH HAVE GOOD NIGHT PEACE '
bro thats a v6 cuz the 5.0s make 421 😑
Those are dyno numbers.
Don’t let these bozos tune your car, Lund Ftw!
I'm a suspension junkie and can't imagine starting off with just springs. If I had a S550 I would be interested in the RTR tactical suspension coilovers system adding front and rear Sway Bars. I'd be done with my suspension after that lol
Hopefully will be getting at 16-19 GT within the next few months
Hope you ending up snagging one, Joey! Thanks for watching! -Zach
Stock only has 358 wtf how can it be so off from 430
Is it smart to buy one a 18???
Idk but I'm trying to get a salvage mustang for cheaper 2017-2020
guys i have a 2017 v6, can someone tell me if its worth tuning, putting exhausts or cold air intakes?
I can't tell what's hotter the cars or the smoke show host, amazing!!
Dumbest 5 "starter mods" you can possibly do.
Your first 5 Mustang GT upgrades:
1. Tires
2. IRS Braces and Cradle Bushings
3. Blower
4. Straight-pipe
5. CAI + Tune
