An excellent guest. I wish we heard more from him. Very measured and insightful.
3:06 "It's handy for people to be able to blame Republicans for stalling Ukraine aid." Mr. Foreman, it's not "handy," it's simply the truth. The Senate passed Ukraine aid in a bipartisan fashion months ago. There are more than enough votes to pass it in the House as well, but the REPUBLICAN candidate Trump has ordered the REPUBLICAN Speaker of the House NOT TO CALL A VOTE. How is this not an actual Republican issue? And what amount of leadership do you think any human could muster to sway Trump on this point? Remember Trump has been bought with Putin, potentially with billions. He's not going to simply allow a vote.
Are you delirious ? The issue is the southern border. Trump is not even involved. Trump billions from Putin... Lol
@@macc240038 Trump is blocking aid to Ukraine, aid to Israel, AND a massive program to fix the southern border. Johnson wants to vote the Senate- and White House-approved package so bad but Trump won't let him!
You miss the main point. You can't flog a dead horse.
EXACTLY it is now SO OBVIOUS that US politicians HAVE BEEN BOUGHT BY pUTIN'S AGENTS. Shopuld we trust an ally so obviously mendacious?
In my view, the point he made was valid. The slow arrival of aid predates the issues with this insane House.
There is a major problem with the reasoning here : 'It makes no sense to attack NATO because ...' the very same reasoning convinced most people that Russia wouldn't attack Ukraine. What is rational to us *is not what is rational to Russia and Putin.*
Further there is a difference between attacking NATO and attacking Article 5. Finding ways to undermine western cohesion doesn't have to wait for 5 years of rebuilding forces. Additionally, *Putin might understand the U.S.'s anemic response to Ukraine as a green light to taking a handful of square kilometers from a member of NATO* and counting on the West to not activate article 5 for that small bit of land.
"What is rational to us is not what is rational to Russia and Putin." brilliant point, well put, I was thinking something along those lines but you put it eloquently. Agreed with all your points. You cannot predict human behaviour, especially from someone so devoid from reality as Putin.
I agree 110% u.s. is week they don't seem to be committed to getting the job done in the cold war there was harsh treatment of u.s.s.r. nut china steals our intellectual property, is not honest in trade, threatening South East Asia and Taiwan, that's as much our enemy as Russia was in cold War but we treat China as our real good buddies when in fact their success is from the politicians that are influenced by the rich to have their stuff manufactured in China foe cheap labour so they can fill their pockets america is totally oblivious to this
It is not the time for just talking and putting your thoughts “eloquently“…It is time to act and get into the streets and demand the help for Ukraine…Otherwise, the West will face 1,800,000 army at their door…😢
Which NATO country do you think he'll attack?
You're so wrong. If you have an agreement, you have an agreement, a treaty. Do not think that NATO would fail to declare war on the aggressor. It will happen, whatever you might think. Everyone was afraid in the Second World War but when Germany invaded Poland, remember we had signed a treaty with Poland, The Warsaw Pact, and on the next day, the UK declared war on Germany.
These are all facts.
NATO fighting Russia is a completely different prospect with all the aerial supremacy that NATO has. Remember, if your word is not honoured, you are defeated by inaction. Therefore, if you have signed a treaty, you are bound by it or your words mean nothing and the whole world would be at war anyway.
I had a college professor who spoke like that, by the end of the first week several students had dropped the class and the rest of us all moved to the very front of the class, we even moved our desk closer to the front of the classroom.

Listening to this guy reminds me of the real difference between autocratic and democratic systems. This guy is free to pontificate and express his opinions and wealth of knowledge both to the public and to politicians, but anyone daring to do the same in China or Russia will be quickly stopped. The guy who lit a candle at Easter was his double. I measured the features on similar pictures. Putin himself would not even know how to act and move in a church. Kate, speak to the American Embassy in London.
We had a power cut in Hackney London on 11th April (Only half an hour). It brought into my mind, sitting in the dark, how much we need electricity. And Ukraine was straight into my thinking.
