@WhatDidYouSay 145 If anything Black Sabbath revitalized themselves with Dio and continued to progress musically throughout the 80s and 90s. The Dio and Martin era is best music I've ever heard in my life.
The Tony Martin era is extremely underrated big time. Albums like The Eternal Idol , TYR , and especially The Headless Cross are MASTERPIECES!! I do love Cross Purposes and some of Forbidden also. I love listening to the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath very often. In my opinion albums like The Eternal Idol,TYR, and The Headless Cross are just as amazing as classic Black Sabbath albums like Paranoid, Masters Of Reality, Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, and The Mob Rules. They are just as amazing, but different from the Ozzy era and the Ronnie James Dio era. When Death Calls is easily one of my favorite Black Sabbath songs ever.

He looks like Sonic. Great singer and I love that ever. 😁🤘🏻🎸🥃🥃🥃
Black Sabbath is not Ozzy, Black Sabbath is Tony Iommi (in music part) and Geezer (in lyrics part)... Ozzy is great on stage, but come on... He cant sing as Dio or Martin. Love Ozzy era, but they didnt die after 1979, they recorded a few great albums, including Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules and Headless Cross.
Man I thought it was Eric Singer on drums and Bob Daisley on bass I even recall Bev Bevan returning as the drummer but I dont know who were the others. Anyway I love the Eternal Idol I love it with passion I even got all the bootlegs whith the demos.
According to Wikipedia most songs were written by Tony Iommi and Bob Daisley who also played the bass on the album, Eric singer plays the drums on the album. They later recruited other people to play on tour. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eternal_Idol
Eric Singer and David Spitz made 7th Star album and tour. Ray Gillen joined in the begging of tour by David Spitz gilsfrind indication. The Eternal Idol recording was a mess and Eric, David and Ray quit in the process.. On the studio version of Eternal Idol you are right: Eric and Bob made the rhythmical session on the album. Bev Bevan just made some overdubs on the instrumental song Scarlet Pimpernel. Spitz created the bass lines (not 100% sure of that) and Bob Daisley record and he made the biggest part of lyrics to Gillen sing and it was replaced by Tony Martin in one week). The first concert of Martin was in Athens July 21th 1987 with Bev Bevan on Drums (last gig with sabbath) but next week sabbath went to South Africa with Terry Chimes and Jo Burt... Another day on paradise lol
That looks pretty bad, but even the more normal mullets do as well. Strangely he looked much better later on when he had grown his hair longer, the hair growth was of course not better, but it still looked much better. Luckily you dont need hair to sing.

Should have changed the name after Ozzy left; they strayed from the genre they ruled and musically evolved until keeping the original name is weird. Going from Ozzy to Ian to RJD, etc.- these were jarring changes to me, rock bands are usually associated with the front man/singer, and all these singers r so different from Ozzy, and also each other; meanwhile the band-roster was often in flux, and Tony evolved stylistically (don't really know if that's true)the result is trauma to some fans..change the name! All the later albums are probably quality chops in their own right, but for me, each release brought me some measure of dismay, as I speculated on how black Sabbath still existed in this purgatorial state of existence and what was going on w/in the band
@Don Dunbar You're a goddamn fool if you think that. Black Sabbath wouldn't be what it is without Tony Iommi's riffs and masterful songwriting. IOMMI IS SABBATH. PERIOD.
Black sabbath did absolutely not die after Ozzy left the band.. Glenn Hughes, Ian, DIO and especially TONY MARTIN... What a great singers!!

The Tony Martin era rocks! There's not a weak track on Eternal Idol.
Great to see this. The Eternal Idol is one of my favorite albums ever.
This guy is a monster vocalists. his voice fits real good with sabbath. RIP RAY GILLEN
I know the comment is very old but he infected girls with AIDS on purpose.
Satch playing in the background, Tony Martin is so underrated and just as good singer as any sabbath singer and i love them all!
Best Sabbath singer,in my opinion!!!

Tony Martin held his own! He had a very good voice.

Tony martin: the monster
God, I love Tony Iommi🥰
Say what you will... The Eternal idol is a fucking basass album.
@Fraevo10
Tony Iommi = Black Sabbath
That's THE most Metal widow's peak ever.
Tony Martin here reminds me of a wood elf in EOS IV Oblivion lol.
+Pierre Gaston i loled
Pierre Gaston Oh my god, he does look like one of them
I remember watching this back then. Mick Walls monsters of rock show😊
The caufed balding mullets are classic

Awesome..
... kinda odd that Satriani is playing in the background...
did your parents forget to teach you negativity spreaders "if you don't have anything nice or productive to say don't say anything at all"
You forget prob the best sabbath album that inspired many: Dehumanizer
Tony and
Martin > Dio > Ozzy > other two goobs.
ahhhitsrob GOOBS??????
I said "in my opinion"...

Maybe he should have re-named the band, "Black Clusterfuckath"?
Should have changed the name after Ozzy left; they strayed from the genre they ruled and musically evolved until keeping the original name is weird. Change the name black sabbath?.... r u listening 2ur self?
Too much tv dude... just turn it off.
You have never gotten laid, correct?
Hail symptom etc but dude...
Sabbath effin rules!.............but without Ozzy, I would have to say Brown Sabbath...not Black
Ozzy ate Sabbath alive after he left. Blew them away! Sabbath has been dead from 1979 to 2012 other than the Reunion tour.
@Don Dunbar
You're a goddamn fool if you think that. Black Sabbath wouldn't be what it is without Tony Iommi's riffs and masterful songwriting.
IOMMI IS SABBATH. PERIOD.
Love Tony Martins confidence stepping up to be a singer for Black Sabbath.
The Tony Martin era rocks! There's not a weak track on Eternal Idol.
