Many rockers are actually very classy and sophisticated/refined individuals. I'm not a famous musician but I was a long-haired metalhead rocker back in my twenties and thirties (and I still am a rocker minus the hair) but I through it all, I went to university and have a Doctorate.
I luv watching these interviews with Joe! He looks tired cuz they had a huge party the night be4. I have been a big fan of Def Leppard since 1983. Especially Joe! For a rockstar, he doesn’t act like he is all that( although he is, in my opinion) seems down to earth, classy kind of guy. It would be a dream come true for me to just sit and talk with him.
I have spoken to him twice on the phone and was back stage in Oslo in 88 and 93. He was really Nice. Only viv was an asshole m. Steve was shy but Nice.
He is down to earth because he knows what it means to struggle. They were factory workers and so desperate to get out of that which they did by ultimately writing and performing multi-platinum selling hard rock/heavy metal music. Plus a few years ago, their drummer lost their arm and managed to make an epic comeback.
this was right before HYSTERIA blew up, little did joe know while he was sitting there doing this interview that in just a few months DEF LEPPARD would become the biggest band in the world, and HYSTERIA was gonna be number 1 on the charts
Waited three yrs for hysteria. I was like in a dream when I saw the Lp sleeve on the shelf in 87. Was unsure what to think after the first listen. This was not High n dry or pyromania, but it grew on me quickly and the fact that the album is more than an hour long and on one Lp is Wild, but it sounded fine. My initial favorites in 87 were rocket, animal and women. Love bites as well. Hated side 2 for a while. Today my three favorites are love and affection, love bites, women and Gods of war, which is good, but it could have been an Epic Classic had they worked a bit more on it..from the opening 2 minutes into the chorus. They did not get the chorus as great as they should have. Love and affection is a perfect hard pop rock song.

I totally agree with you. He's unusually intelligent, articulate, self-deprecating, and funny for a rock star. He's really unusual, IMO at least
