Our Toyota Highlander Hybrid will be 19 years old on August 17th. We bought the vehicle new and it still runs perfectly. We have only 90,000 miles on it and we feel it will run great for many more years.
I have a 2014 Prius with the original HV battery, and the fuel economy is just as good as it was when new. It's covered more than 340K kilometers (210K miles) to date.
Here in UAE, we have toyota camry and highlander hybrids as cabs. I asked a cab driver who clocked over 550k miles on a camry hybrid. Not sure of the model year, may be be 2018 or 2019. He said neither the battery, engine or transmission has ever been changed. The car is still running fine without issues.
I have Toyota Camry 2019 Hybrid XLE and My millages are Over 366,000 and Still running smooth. Haven’t had problems and regularly maintenance such as Oil change, and couple shocks. I just had service week ago Tune up and breaks, cooling, engine flushing after 5 years. Such a good car to own. Thanks for Toyota ❤
I purchased my first hybrid in May of this year. It's a Corolla Cross Nightshade. So far I love it. I owned 2 Rav 4s before this purchase. Toyotas are excellent and dependable vehicles. If you take care of them they will definitely take care of you.
There's a company in Poland, that solved this issue. They make a 3D printed replacement for the aluminium element. You just switch the original one to the plastic (not a simple ABS or anything - they found a good one, that can withstand any temperatures etc.). They're called 3VZ. Just look it up on the internet or YT. They have a video concerning this issue.
I've had several Toyota Priuses since the early 2000's and never had a motive battery issue. The last one I had I kept for eight years which had a cell die in the 12v axillary battery and was replaced, free of charge, under warranty. I now own a Yaris Cross hybrid electric vehicle.
I had a 2002 First Generation Toyota Prius Hybrid 4dr sedan never needed battery over 16 years and 265K miles, was totally during a winter storm in 2018 because of flooding. 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid with 232K miles still running flawlessly like new. With original engine, transmission, battery, cold AC, suspension. 2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid still running perfectly without single issue at 100K miles. Toyota hybrid is the most reliable.
I just sold my 2010 camry hybrid after serving me for 14 years. The hybrid battery was still strong when I sold it. I didn’t change it in all these years. Got new Lexus hybrid nx350h; for sure the nx has a stronger hybrid battery
Now if they could just hurry up and redesign the cable so we can all put #cablegate behind us. BTW, that warranty only covered it after TOYOTA was sued. So…
@@magnoliap5824 finally, i read on the subject and yes in a certain point, they fix it….. well if we can say this… they dont pass the cable elsewhere, they simply cut a hole at the end of the end case of the cable so the water can drain out and dont corrode de câble itself… and they put a plastic protector in front of all this so it limit the acces to water to go there… you can see the fix on the RUclips channel the car care nut.
3-7 years?? Driving my Kia Rondo almost 20 years. Would still keep it but fuel cost is starting to pinch. Maybe will switch to Corolla cross except looks very cheap inside.
How much will I be able to sell an 8 year old RAV4 hybrid when any potential buyer will most likely need to spend approximately $30,000.00, above the purchase price of the car, in two or so years to replace the battery? 😮
@@1960brookwood Try again. Look at the full cost for a new battery PLUS installation. Also, if you listen to the video, you will see and hear that the warranty is 10 years. So, as I said, if I sell after 8 years, the new owner will only have 24 months left on that warranty. I agree that batteries and installation cost varies between brands and manufacturers. The point is that they are extremely expensive to replace and anyone wanting to purchase a 8+ year old EV or HEV will take that into consideration before making an offer on your car. In my opinion, that will almost certainly make a used EV/HEV worthless when you look at what the car originally cost you and what you will get for it after 8+ years. Another thing to consider is that hybrids are heavier cars than their ICE counterparts. This results in a less favorable miles per gallon when driving in the gas mode.
@@Itsme-vo4fx "The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is a popular compact SUV from Toyota. If you own a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, you can expect to pay between $3,500 and $4,000 for a hybrid battery replacement. This cost includes both the battery pack and the installation." They also get better mileage on the highway because they shut down and charge on a down grade--I average 44-45 on the highway. Quit posting misinformation about things you know nothing about please.
@@1960brookwood: So, if I use your numbers, who ever bought my 8+ year old Hybrid should expect to pay approximately $5000.00+ (adding inflation forward 8 years) in addition to his/her purchase price for the vehicle. That doesn’t lead me to believe that I would get as much for my used Hybrid as one would get for an ICE counterpart. The only point that I’m making is that a Hybrid will depreciate, on the long run, faster than an ICE car.
front-drive hybrids are okay, but any all-wheel-drive Toyota hybrids suffer from rear-cable corrosion at the rear connectors (cablegate), so it's best to stay away from anything other than front-wheel-drive Toyota hybrids.
Its been fixed, its wild how many people cant do basic research of the newer built ones. Anything post march 2024 has a new housing. But ill agree buying anything post March would be silly imo.
@hotsteak did you mean post March 2023? Otherwise, this would mean that it was only fixed on vehicles less than 5 months old… I thought the 2023 and 2024 RAV4s had it fixed which is why the warranty on the cable only covers until the 2022 models
@@hotsteak Could you please share these articles/posts? I couldn't find any that said anything about March 2024, only that they supposedly changed the design for the 2023 model
Toyota has a little scam running with newer vehicles. They can check to see how fast you're going and if you've gone over a certain speed limit, your car is not covered anymore. Your warranty is no good and you can't do nothing and they've been doing this other customers
Don't need replacement at all....we have Toyota hybrids for 20 years now......hundreds of thousands on the riad with high mileage, and first batteries.
Do not believe anything that guy says. After 10 years you try to sale your hybrid car then you know what happens. Same thing like the people try to sale the electric car after 10. If you want to drive your car for ever I have nothing to say. Resale value isn’t good.

2nd gen prius owner here. My prius currently has 313k miles on the original batteries. I only do routine maintenance and am still averaging 45 mpg.
