- This is the fourth part in a series on the long road to BBQ greatness. I hope you enjoy the content, please leave comments down below..
Every day is a learning experience building this pit. We had some issues with the 1/2" round bar not being beefy enough to support the weight of the doors, so in the next video you will see the fix for that.
Thanks to my brother in law Jim Flanagan @ www.flanagansrv.com and Adam@ / @ajsironworks3937 for all the technical help! I'll get a bit more in depth the next video, but please leave questions and comments below.

Hi, why did you burn it, was it because it was a gas tank ?
Yes. Burning the tank tank removes the remaining impurities and residue from the inside, especially the mercaptans they add to flammable gasses. It’s what gives propane it’s stink. If you don’t burn it out, your meats will be ruined.
Nice fabrication. What is the residue inside… oil? The doors turned out nice.
This is fun to watch the making of it
Marianne Completo Glad you are enjoying watching!!!
Looking good, I can't wait to see what's next!
Looking good... the burn out made a huge difference. Take care Brian.
Huge difference, and it doesn’t smell like a gas tank anymore!
Yep you’re on your way brother. Nice work. I liked the look of the handles on the door!!!! Horse shoes would look super cool on mine maybe????
I recommend finding new ones if you do,, used ones are terrible to weld on!
