Thanks for the video. Love your car, especially the color! I have to replace the whole rack on my 16 GT PP due to hitting a piece of concrete right in the computer board on the rack, so it is requiring me to remove the inner tie rods to remove the rack.. I've done it before on my 87 Mustang, but of course the electric power steering is a bit different. Thanks again for showing us how to do it!
Hey Kevin! Was wondering how you separated the ball joint stud from the aluminum knuckle. Did you use some kind of ball joint separator tool or just smack the knuckle with a hammer?
@@honeybadgershenanigans haha ok. Will that destroy the ball joint though? I'm replacing a control arm with only 5k miles so ideally I'd like to keep that as a spare.
I’ve never seen it happen, but I’ve never had a real bad ball joint. Only preventative measures. I keep my originals as spares as well. Not had to use them, tho
Just wondering once you screw the rod in you didn't go into how much you need to tighten it is there a specific torque on it or do you just snug it down
I just went with "pretty tight" because it would be hard to get a torque reading on that. I just did what felt like the same amount of torque to break it loose.
@@terrybritton54 my issue ended up being interference between the pan and steering rack. But you’re most likely to feel it when you change directions with the steering wheel
@@honeybadgershenanigans I just tore mine apart and it was my front left lower backwards facing control arm bushing, and my right side was making a noise too ended up being the strut mount rubber
Local Ford dealer should be able to get them for you pretty quickly. And I wouldn't worry about replacing them unless you're having an issue (excessive play or noise).

Thank you so much for making this video! I think inners are shot!
most welcome!
Did you have to use blue lock tite on the inner tie rod to rack and pinion threads?
Mine just went. Thx for this
most welcome!
Thanks, doing the GT 350 brake swap on a 16 convertible. This really helps.

I’m ashamed to admit I’m a huge fan of a BFH. Nut on stud and then WHACK

Now I can tell my shop how to do it properly 😂

Thx for the tutorial!
How do I know if i need to replace the inner and outer?
Sorry - I never got notified of this comment. A couple of things. You'll have play/clunking in the tie rods
Did it clunk going over bumps?

@@terrybritton54 clunks with bumps could sway bar/end links

Where did you order these?

I always love when they skip the entire part of the actual removal process.
Yes I was like ok I need to see so I can do
Can you get your dog a bed to lay on please.
He has a huge dog couch off screen. He just likes to be involved
