my corset made it so i couldn't breath, gave me headaches, made me vomit, slashed my tires, ate my spaghetti, killed my dog, lit my wallet on fire, broke my favorite mug, stole all of my internal organs, hacked my minecraft account, stole my identity, framed me for 11 murders, put a dead squirrel in my bathroom, smashed my phone, dumped paint on my favorite pair of shoes, and called me fat even though i was wearing a corset.

I looked at a corset once and my lungs were crushed, my spinal cord was broken, I was squeezed smaller than a worm and then I spontaneously combusted.

Corsets are actually more attractive to people than people realize which is why a lot of sexy lingerie has that corset aesthetic or an actual corset.... you're not really supposed to wear it over your skin like that but it is almost as if people actually miss them because of their continued use in the bedroom
@@michaelrizea3108 I know this is a very late response, but as a guy I can confirm that I find them to be very attractive. And I honestly think it's a shame that almost no women wear them (atleast in public) nowadays. But I guess that's all due to the social stigma of them being so "unhealthy" for your body.

I went from taking Dilaudid 4 times a day to taking nothing stronger than Aleve and, I can ride my motorcycle, my horses, I can airboat, I can do all sorts of things that I couldn't do after I'd broken my back! My corset is my exoskeleton!

that's what my historical dance teacher called it - exoskeleton :D very comfy, actually.
I wear an H-cup bra (let's get this over with: yes really, yes I've been professionally measured multiple times, yes I know breast reduction surgery exists and I'm not interested, no they don't make it hard to breathe, yes it's hard to find swimsuits but mostly because cup size doesn't increase with band size in most suits), and I finally said "fuck it" after years of bruises and raw skin under my bust and went bra-free. For occasions where I need some lift, I wear a corset, and . . .
. . . all of this is correct.
I wear a modern steel-bone, not an original whalebone, but I've gone up to 18 hours in one and the worst thing was my shift getting bunched under the edge. (OW.)
People need to stop talking about corsets like they're the end of the world. They gave me back the ability to dress without pain . . . because miraculously, when you're not holding up 15lbs with only a pair of thin straps, THE BACK PAIN STOPS!!
I’m about a triple d and I really want a corset. However I am young and don’t have a job and I don’t want to bother my mom about it

Where do you get your corset??
L to N cup here dependingonthetimeof themonth. ordered myself a corset after talking to the doctor. doctor says it should help my health. Can't wait to feel the support.
Where did you find a corset in H cup?
Fun Fact: Victorians actually pad the bust and hip areas underneath the corset to give then the extreme looking waists that people think of when they hear "corsets".
Other fact: You are supposed to season corsets to your body rather than tighten them to the tightest that you can and extend the amount of time you are in them starting at only 2 hours the first day and increasing the amount of time over the course of at least a month before wearing them for an entire day; otherwise, you risk damaging the corset which will in the end cause pain to the wearer.
I am very pleased that you tightened the corset to where it was taught, tight but still comfortable; that is how one is supposed to tighten them!
Also, there is supposed to be a corset cover between your clothes and the corset that hides the "strange areas" that are showing with your shirts.

I am a man with a bad back, I found a corset which fits me perfectly at a faire. I wear it a lot, usually over a shirt and under a waistcoat.
I am honestly planning to tailor my suits to work with it. I like the better posture and do not mind the feminine figure it gives me.
awesome!!!
It was actually very common for men to wear corsets. The whole wasp waist look was just as stylish for men as for women. And as someone with a bad back, I know how important it is to find a solution.
It’s great that your corset helps you so much! I know mine relieves my back pain and helps with my anxiety. If you ever need a new corset in a different silhouette, material, or length, try Orchard Corset. I got my corset from them for around seventy bucks and it’s very comfy and well-made. They also have a wide variety of corsets, corset liners, and laces for you to choose from and offer deals all the time. They even released a men’s corset recently which might fit your measurements better than some other corsets currently available, but if you don’t like its silhouette, a lot of the other ones also fit well for people that aren’t pear-shaped. So if you ever want to try a new style or length or one of those cool mesh corsets for the summer heat, I’d check them out :)
You can also get particular corsets for males which don’t induce a feminine figure. Though you can also get some shapes which specifically for men to make the silhouette even much more feminine.
you do know you can get orthopedic corsets made to measure for you, right ? talk to your back doctor.

I had to wear an orthopedic corset for 6 years as a teenager (from 11 to 17) for 23 hours a day (I even had to sleep with it). It made me keep a straight spine, and even though it was quite uncomfortable I had to get used to it. The main issue was not that it was uncomfortable, but that you could see it through the clothes, especially during the summer. As a teenage girl, it really affected my self esteem. So many people today have aches and pains, even in their 20s. In many cases it's the price we pay for not caring about our posture.
I am barely a teen, and I experience back pain. I struggle trying to fix my posture lol.
I actually wore a corset daily for almost a year, along with a camisole underneath. My body definitely got used to it, and I did see some changes in my waistline, but I wore it simply to straighten my posture and tuck in my tummy. It’s not a bad idea if you’re looking to improve those things, but you need to be careful about how tight you lace it (I didn’t care about that, and I’m warning you; ease into the process. Don’t go as tight as possible on day one)
yeah, basically 'blood flow is important kids'
lacing things tight is no problem since im used to sucking in my stomach very far 24/7 due to dysmorphia. maybe my tits would die or something but that would be a good thing
The changes to your waistline were probably because under(over)eating was more comfortable in the long run.

Congratulations - you now know what it's like to be a Renaissance Faire actor and wear a corset all day. Our Elizabethan corsets are more conical for the flat silhouette the period requires. Perfect posture and a slightly smaller waist is a plus but getting comfortable is a huge challenge. Faire actors are very active, so our corsets aren't worn super tight. More like a firm hug. I don't really know the correct word for your comedic style, but I love it. *Sits up straight*
I cant even tell you how many times I had to arch my back because of you talking about how stiff it was
50 points to Slytherin for you doing this all day.

This video legit describes what it's like to wear a scoliosis brace. Except for the fact that corsets are FAR more comfortable than scoliosis braces (which are made of plastic with no padding). How do we give so much flak to an old corset when we have created an even worse and far more painful one today? Also yes it would definitely be uncomfortable the first day because it takes 1-3 weeks (if you're unlucky) to get used to it.
I am glad you did this experiment. It gives a new insight to what corsets were actually like. My grandma said she remembers her mother putting on a corset and it was no different from a bra.
“I had to be straight all the time” “ my sister came to show me some memes” so many quotable moments love ittt
My sister be like:
I prefer my Victorian corset compared to a bra! It distributes the boob weight well, and I have worn them all day to classes and housework. (Always with a chemise, of course! haha) I understand why people don’t like them though, kinda like heels
although it is awkward when you drop something and you’re just like “lemme grab my WHUUGHH-ta da” and sitting more on the edge of a seat rather than leaning back all the way
but also they help with bad period cramps so that’s a huge bonus
Oh hellllo, my uterus needs some compression. I'm drafting my own corset now and was getting a bit tired and disillusioned but I'll do anything to get them cramps chilled out!
osita piscita yess! Sometimes when they get unbearable, I just go home and put on my corset
Interesting. Needa try that
Same here, I don’t even feel my corset when I have it on
Isabella Caddy do you have a link to the one you wear? i really want to try wearing one at school bc baaaad posture
im currently wearing my corset while watching this! it's actually one of the most comfortable garments i own!
tbh I would wear that outfit to church, it's so cute.

Corsets for work would permit more flexibility. Like those more designed for say people working around the house etc. Especially as they wouldn't be tight laced either.
Oh so that is why girls in those videos wore maidens corsets... Flexibility...
@CLAIRE KRAYNICK no, it is ok. Thanks.
4:25 Ah, i too have to keep myself straight sometimes but girls are just too awesome
@Abdur Rahman she's joking
As a bisexual guy I can sympathize.

I am so glad I found your channel, I have been loving your videos, you are informative and hilarious. It's great to hear about aspects of history (dress) that I never knew I cared about
That corset is stuning! I'm in love with it.
" I have a third boob" MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS VIDEO
I had to wear a corset at theatre school, as a costume piece, and the thing that always got me through was to think of breathing into my pelvis, and to make sure I squeezed all the air out of my lungs when I exhaled. It makes a WORLD of difference.
That was a really poorly-fit corset. It shouldn't be restricting your breathing that much.
As a Potter head and Slytherine I like the T-shirt with "Slytherine D. Malfoy " u are wearing 😊
4:53 those slytherin pants make me happy because I'm a slytherin too 🥺
"Ah, memories," said the former 1860's-dress tour guide. Sometimes I miss my corset, but yeah...seven hours a day, during meals, up and down stairs, while public speaking, and in the summer. Good times.
Mesh corsets for Summer. Cording if you were ever doing a washerwoman, for instance. Lots of cording.... And, even in steel, you should be able to bend side to side, etc . It IS a good idea to put your stockings & shoes/boots on before the corset. Additionally, a linen chemise or shift is vital to comfort, wicking away sweat. Some Summers get into 120*F, while some Winters get to -40*F. If I go back to wearing my corset, daily, I'm going to make a Summer corset!

I have severe persistent asthma and my summer job is working on an 1889 living history farm. I wear a corset all day and do farm work, gardening, and baking/cooking on an 1860 stove, clean and in my downtime do tatting and embroidery. I LOVE my corset. It helps my back not have pain and I adore it. Honestly, I'd wear a corset all the time if they weren't so expensive. (Other than when I'm at aerial dance. It would not work doing cirque stuff. lol)
Questions:
1. What about the servants wearing corsets? Wasn't scrubbing the kitchen floor a nightly duty? What about tending to the fire? Or making the beds? Ya gotta bend forward while you're cleaning.
2. You're clothes didn't fit while wearing a corset? So, your waist was actually a bit larger?
3. Is that a typically sized Polish breakfast? It's about twice the amount a typically American would eat-regardless of age, size, or athleticism. So, my eyes grew really big with surprise when I saw it.
