For the people who are still confused; no, she didn’t bring the real Marie curie she’s dead obviously. She actually managed to come into contact with her late granddaughter: Mary curry (full name is Mary Slovakian curry).
I love laughing at ridiculous comments/messages. We get a lot of horrible people in customer service and we would sometimes put the ridiculously rude ones on the back of the toilet door to read lol.
I remember a woman complaining about the ice cream being too cold And a guy who complained about the deep fried chicken. Then I got a job at a brand new cinema than a woman complained about the building being old fashioned like something from the 80s and that the floor would be dangerous if wet
I feel that! I work in customer service and my favorite thread was one person who sent 8 (!!) emails in a row, that resembled perfectly the five stages of grief. Deeply wish to write a book one day about customers like him.

Me: No, actually my mother is a childcare professional, but either way I don't see what she or her job has to do with your credit card bill.
I love that they chose the phrase "bootleg Anne Hathaway" as an insult. tbh if someone called me a "bootleg Anne Hathaway" I'd probably just take it as a (very confused) compliment
Imagine how enraged and confused those people who thought you were Marie Curie would be if they stumbled upon a channel like Epic Rap Battles of History.
Karolina, I'm almost 70. I'm American. I'm a child of people who fought in WW2. So while I did not grow up with daily physically reminders, I grew up with the knowledge of the horror. My relatives, mainly Tios, were so shell shocked most did not speak of their experiences until into their 70's. You are an amazing woman. A woman any mother would be proud to call her own. Talented, erudite, multi-linguist, compassionate you carry within you the best of the Polish peoples. God bless you and keep you strong. Please let us know when you need us to help you. Because of your orange profile picture, it reminded me that I’ve NEVER drank orange juice before. I wonder what it tastes like? Is it so delicious that many people literally drinking it for breakfast? I’ve also seen memes about it where people drink orange juice after brushing. I wonder what that would taste like too
So we’re making fun of people’s accents now? Bet half of these people can’t even speak their one language right. Personally I love your accent, it’s very pretty.
I actually met a woman once who spoke did not have amy mothee tongue, she spoke about 4 languages but neither of them fluently, i wonder how that happened. Hi Karolina, I understand why you turned off comments on your latest video but I wanted to say that I first of all applaud the help and humanity you and your fellow Poles are showing to Ukrainians. I think you touched on a point in your video that is forgotten in many western European countries and definitely in America (I have lived in both regions): we have lost a lot of the collective memory of war that touched us all in WWII and the conditions of which continued behind the "Iron Curtain" that western Europeans and Americans felt free to ignore until they couldn't. I think now that trauma is being reawakened and triggered in Eastern Europe and serving as a new lesson for the WEs and Americans to understand. Thank you for sharing your and your family's story and sharing how impactful this is for everyone in Poland right now. We love you, stay safe.
Dear heart we know. We sit in our homes feeling helpless and angry. So we send what we can and hope it eases someone's burdens even if it is for only that moment on that day. Watching you fight back tears while the world crumbles around you knowing things are changing and some will never be the same. The people of Russia also know but fear their terrorist leader. Yes some are protesting, some are fleeing through Finland. In the end the only thing any of us have is our humanity. Hang on to it at all costs. Hugs!!!
Thank you both for mentioning the trauma being reawakened... I was born in Poland but grew up in the US. My grandparents all had horrific stories of the war that they told me. As a child, it felt far away, and now as an adult I feel so grateful to know their stories, terrible as they were, as it makes me feel closer to humanity and more determined to do what I can to not let these horrors happen again. My heart just breaks daily at the destruction of so many lives. And I feel so proud of the Polish people who are stepping up so epically to help their neighbors.
People forget Europeans are widely diverse, we can be super pale, light blue eyes almost white hair to dark brown eyes, black hair and tan skin. We aren't all blue eyed blonde Nords lol
Interestingly enough in europe itself it's a stereotype that slavs have rather brown hair and brown eyes, while the further north you go the blonder (is this a word?) the average hair colour gets. Respectively, the closer you are to ireland the higher is the precentage of redheads and the further south you go the darker the hair and complexion gets, reaching regions like south italy, south spain or the southern balkan where many people would probably be mislabeled as "latino" if they moved to north america.
@@ROBYNMARKOW I was pretty severely anaemic in mid 2021 due to an acute health issue, and even after the underlying issue was resolved and I restored my iron levels, my friends and family keep asking me if I'm still anaemic because I just look "paler than usual" apparently. I DO get insecure about my appearance, but when I see someone like you who IS pretty - even by the difficult to meet "conventional beauty" standards - being called ugly, it always reminds me that people calling me ugly is kinda meaningless. They call girls who look like models "ugly". They're just gonna say it to anyone they think it might bother. (...Doesnt mean Im conventionally attractive either lol but yea).
I personally believe no one is ugly, beauty is like food! u might be a broccoli sure a lot of ppl don’t like broccoli but that doesn’t mean ur bad ur just a different taste, & u could be a cake nice and sweet so most ppl think ur delicious but some don’t rly like sweets (personally I prefer broccoli over cake tbh)

Karolina: Your latest video on the Ukrainian refugees was outstanding and I posted it on all my social media accounts. I come from a French family that mostly lives in France, and I appreciated your comment about how Eastern Europeans are centered around their experiences of war. My French family is like that. They are so warm to me. Once when I first went to the USA and did not come back for ten years when I did come back it was as if I had never left. This is in the French culture. They knew you could be taken away for years, but when you came back you could take up life again as if you never left. My parents who lived under the NAZIS in France as kids, always act as if they will never see me again even if I leave for a few days. That is what it was like for them as kids. Often times when people left they would never see them again. Anyway, this was an outstanding video! Do more of them!!!

Hi Karolina: I just watched your “What’s happening in Poland” video, but the comments are turned off so I’m responding here. First, thank you for filming scenes in your city so Americans like me can see the reality of what Ukraine and Poland are experiencing. Second, THANK YOU POLAND for stepping up and giving of yourselves so generously! We are hearing news stories of what Poland is doing, and we are amazed. Third, there are a few of us who do know enough history to have some understanding of what Poland has been through in the not-so-distant past, the memories this war brings up (I nearly cried when your grandma was upset by the cannon at the concert), and how your own trauma has caused you to empathize with the Ukrainians and take immediate action to help them. Poland is a light shining in the darkness! I also appreciate how the situation is going to get worse before it gets better, it’s probably going to last longer than we think, and it’s going to take a toll on Poland and your other NATO neighbors in Eastern Europe. Please know that some people get that and are trying to help from a distance, and that your region and its people are never out of our thoughts. I will be praying for Poland as well as Ukraine, and I thank you again for your video. Hang in there, Karolina!

I'm still absolutely baffled at the sheer volume of people who thought Marie Curie is still alive. Like, if you know anything about her whatsoever, you know that she's dead. There was even a joke in Disney's "Enchanted" about it. Furthermore, even if you didn't know this initially, it should be glaringly obvious that the video you made is a parody and not some weird grift in which a young woman tries to steal the identity of a long-dead chemist. Like.....do these people think that Scarlet Johansen literally is Black Widow and that she literally died when her character did?
I accidentally read Enchanted as Encanto and spent a few minutes confused why they would put a reference to Marie Curie into a movie playing in Colombia and asking myself how I could have missed it xD

On reddit I see a lot of people who love flexing their "HAHAH YOU'RE FKIN WRONG AND A TOTAL PIECE OF SHIT FOR THAT because i am right and I got my information from the conspiracy magazines in my dad's basement!" They really love throwing in a useless personal attack at the end. It feels like 11 to 16 year old boys who just got left alone after school and were told to "run it off" one too many times.
People who post negative comments like "downvoted" or how much they don't like it don't seem to understand that by them engaging with the content in any way, they're actually boosting the vid's numbers and making it more popular! Also, it's like peak attention seeking to even bother commenting lol! Keep doing what you do Karolina. We love you.
In my college English class, the professor spent a whole class period lecturing about what satire was, then sent us home to read A Modest Proposal. Two days later, the whole class returns, and at least half of them are legit outraged that Jonathan Swift was a cannibal. Satire is hard to understand, I guess.
It's always interesting to see that even creators I thought were impossible to hate still receive those comments. Pretty concerning that some of them trully believed marie currie was still alive, I know not everyone is interested in historical figures but man, that's rough
Honestly, anyone who has a video go viral will get hate. Their video will be seen by people who have no interest and no context and are just looking for a place to spill their bile.
Marie Currie is alive tho (Marie Curie with one r in each name is dead. Marie Currie is a singer who got together with someone who shares a bday with Curie...)😅
I’m not sure why people could even think/say things like “bootleg Anne Hathaway” to you because whenever I see you I associate you with phrases more like “vintage queen”, “gorgeous immortal”, and “absolute goddess” 🤨
I'm not familiar with Anne Hathaway, but surely saying she has some resemblance to a famous person would be more of a compliment than an insult, right? Like, why did they think she would feel insulted for looking like an actress?

The illiteracy, lack of knowledge and cruelty in our world is truly frightening to me. The inability to understand or discern wit, sarcasm and parody also scares me. There seems to be no appreciation for history, geography, writing or grammar. Written communication is fast becoming a lost art. Thank you for your wit and sharing all off the interesting content you share.
For some reason I read this with a lady whistledown type voice lol. I hate to tell you, after such a well crafted comment but... *of (last sentence). Sorry, I had to! I am also now paranoid about spelling mistakes in my own comments, but that's on me. Have a nice day!
I'm not one to glamorize the past, but damn, in Ancient times, even prehistoric, humans were smart and knew a lot of stuff and had a keen senses. But now, with all the tech around us, most can't be bothered to even do a search. Tech has dumbed us down, and in case of "return to monke" many of us will die because we don't even know how to put underwear on.
I mean, not being great at spelling and grammar isn't necessarily a sign of unintelligence. Some people are dyslexic or struggle with English as another language or just aren't great at English as a subject. If somebody is kind and well intentioned I honestly don't care how they write.
As Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams has often said, one-third of people do not possess a sense of humor. It’s not that they don’t appreciate the funniness of the joke. They don’t even recognize that this clearly nonsensical thing you just said is a “joke”. They’re baffled because you said something untrue. They object that you obviously cannot speculate on the motive of the chicken crossing the road, you can’t read a chicken’s mind, why are you even trying to?
Fun fact: chicken crossing the road joke was about s*icide. As they refer to people who suffered as chickens, during a time when road rules were nearly none existent.
Ironic, since Scott Adams himself lost all sense of what’s humorous over time. :D (Seriously, though, humor is subjective, but Occam’s Razor applies. If it’s about someone who’s dead, and it’s clearly not a documentary, it’s a joke.)
One third seems high and maybe that’s an exaggeration. But such people take social cues, learn to pretend to laugh when other people laugh, even though the don’t know what the hell is going on 🤣

Right? She's perfectly understandable. Everyone speaks with some accent or another. Heck, I have trouble understanding Scots sometimes, but that doesn't make them less capable of speaking English--that's a "me" problem. It makes me mad
The Marie Skłodowska Curie section had me screaming laughing but hands down the most relatable part of this video was "hey guys, I cut my bangs at midnight.."
Karolina, thank you for your video on your perspective on the war. As a Ukrainian, I can't help but cry (happy tears) witnessing the outpouring of kindness and generosity from our European neighbors but especially Poland. If I could speak polish (or any other language for that matter) half as good as her English I’d be very happy. I never understand people hating on others who’re speaking a second language, especially when it’s to her level where sure she’s got a touch of an accent, but even native speakers can have vastly different accents (I mean within Britain alone look at the different accents). So yeah I just don’t get people who complain too much about accents

Ok, i have to share this. I'm a Russian native and i recently started learning Polish. Before I used to hear the first part of Marie's last name as [skladovska] (yes, with L). Even in Karolina's old video. But now i hear it correctly, with [w] sound, because actually there is not L, there is Ł which sounds like [w]. And honestly, it's wrinkling my brain.
As someone who speaks neither Russian or Polish, but does speak Dutch, I read her last name as nothing. I just kinda move my eyes over the name and there's no inner voice telling me how to pronaunce it...
The “oh, hi, Mark” bit slayed me. Love a Tommy Wiseau reference! I also learned more Polish swears today. I was stuck with kurwa when I did things like stub my toe or dealt with a rude driver. Pretty sure the coffee table was a bit insulted that I kept calling it a bitch. :)

By the way, knowing that Marie Curie was born in Poland was absolutely new for me. Thanks!
Thank you for mentioning the comments people get on their weight! People need to stop loudly suggesting other people aren't eating just because they don't have the same body shape as them. And if a skinny person did have an eating disorder, they probably wouldn't appreciate someone shouting about it.
Yep, when I was at school I used to get strangers ask me if I was anorexic.... What are you supposed to say to that? For the record, I have never had an eating disorder - I'm just naturally skinny. But, in some ways it would be worse to ask someone who genuinely did have one.

People who lived through ww2 are leaving us everyday. Need to remember
Well said, Bella, and totally a valid point. How could they not be triggered?
Agreed

Interestingly enough in europe itself it's a stereotype that slavs have rather brown hair and brown eyes, while the further north you go the blonder (is this a word?) the average hair colour gets. Respectively, the closer you are to ireland the higher is the precentage of redheads and the further south you go the darker the hair and complexion gets, reaching regions like south italy, south spain or the southern balkan where many people would probably be mislabeled as "latino" if they moved to north america.

Dear Karolina, I am one of your more silent watchers, but this time I wanted to reach out and throw some energy and hope towards you.
Thanks for all your work
I want to live in the world where a Polish fashion commentator can bring back famous scientists from the dead to make youtube videos and where we should be angry at the fakers.
"The concept of parody is foreign to some". True - and so sad.
"If you only know one Polish woman....that's on you." 🤣🤣🤣 Karolina you are an absolute legend, keep doing what you do!! 😍❤️ You always brighten my day with your work.
people hate to see a gorgeous and intelligent woman be successful
Gotta say, the comments on the Marie Skłodowska Curie video really had me questioning the age of the watchers...sounded like under 11 year olds (not that there aren't 11 year olds who understand satire).
Love your videos and humor and style! Thanks for posting!
Especially the one with the project. The poor girl was really confused
I'd like to think so too but there really are enough -adult- of age people who are that dense
@@Blindinglights25 Indeed, it was the confusion that got me. Some of the responses sounded like people who were used to trusting authoritative-sounding people but either worried or outraged that the info they were getting wasn't matching the limited info they already had (and stress because it means they'll get a bad grade!)
@@Blindinglights25 I thought she was playing into the joke too; maybe, I'm wrong?
I'll just say that those people have entirely too much spare time or are 11 years old (at least I hope so). And if they don't get your sense of humor, that's their loss. Your channel is the perfect combo of educational and hilarious, please keep doing what you do Karolina! Sending love from Italy!
Some of them are clearly bots

Karolina! I am Ukrainian and every time i think about Poles i want to cry, cry from gratitude. Thank you for everything you guys do for us, we seriously appreciate it all from the bottom of our hearts. Hope you will read it
Bi*ch you still alive
Well, when she died Marie Curie was very radioactive, so if replacing my science textbooks with comic books was a good decision for my education (and it totally was) she could have been resurrected by the radioactivity and gone on to make videos for RUclips. Totally plasuible
An admirable headcanon.
Exactly!!1!!1 It would even explain how she got younger.
If you leave out the last sentence, it totally sounds like a lady writing a letter to her friend and roasting tf outa some poor guy who just tried to propose or something and she was so disgusted she simply had to write a letter to her bestie about lol.
i mean i have a hard time understanding jokes and sarcasm due to my autism impeding that to an extent
(Seriously, though, humor is subjective, but Occam’s Razor applies. If it’s about someone who’s dead, and it’s clearly not a documentary, it’s a joke.)
One third seems high and maybe that’s an exaggeration. But such people take social cues, learn to pretend to laugh when other people laugh, even though the don’t know what the hell is going on 🤣
@@Big_Tex this comment is sounding a but ableist to me. Lots of autistic people don't necessarily think the same way and struggle to understand sarcasm.
Oh.. I am from that poor team irl. I mean, I can enjoy joke if I know it's a joke (hence my love for parodies and satire), but that just not given irl.
There's too many nasty people out there. Don't listen to them. I love your channel and I think you're a lovely person.
The HAIRR! So beautiful. The Marie Curie comments were insane though. There's this anthropologist who made a fake 'interview with an Anglo-Saxon from 1000 yrs' and the amount of angry people in his comment section acted in same way 🤣🤣
I bet those people were too lazy to read the full title. They only have themselves to blame!
I just want you to know that you speak beautifully in English. It takes a lot of guts to make public videos, especially in your second language. You make little mistakes sometimes, but honestly that adds to your appeal. I'm an ESL teacher, so take this as a professional endorsement. I love you and your content! 💖
Right? She's perfectly understandable. Everyone speaks with some accent or another. Heck, I have trouble understanding Scots sometimes, but that doesn't make them less capable of speaking English--that's a "me" problem. It makes me mad
I know a few English speakers who couldn't pronounce epitome to save their lives !!
I can imagine that taking in so many people in such a short amount of time is not easy, and while me and my family are elsewhere in EU at the moment and didn't even pass through Poland on our way, I'm still forever grateful for the support Poles have given and continue to provide to my fellow citizens and friends.

Really though. Her English is underrated, slavic people tend to have heavier accents but she just nails it. Not even slightly hard to understand. She speaks plain as daylight and her pronounciation is on point. 5* 👌🏼
@@mansur_ali yes!
I can't wait for your comments sections to shift entirely into people writing tales about meeting you in past (or perhaps time-traveled) lives.
That would be fun🤣
Thanks!
“Bitch you dead” lmao I love that comment - I’m genuinely shocked at how many people were triggered by that video. Thank you for the content - I love what you do!
It’s pretty pathetic that people feel the need to take their anger out at people on the internet :// Karolina just know that for every troll there’s someone whose day you make whenever you post a video!
Not gonna lie, that meeting in a past life comment was intruiging
I’m flabbergasted by the number of people who legitimately thought you were trying to impersonate Marie Curie. 😮
Once we switched to pronouncing 'ł' as [w] we lost ability to pronounce 'л' right and tend to hear 'ł' there so I suppose it's fair
And w is pronounced v too lol
As someone who speaks neither Russian or Polish, but does speak Dutch, I read her last name as nothing. I just kinda move my eyes over the name and there's no inner voice telling me how to pronaunce it...
Wrinkling your brain more means you are getting smarter! Well done! :D
@@CityKanin XD true
The “oh, hi, Mark” bit slayed me. Love a Tommy Wiseau reference! I also learned more Polish swears today. I was stuck with kurwa when I did things like stub my toe or dealt with a rude driver. Pretty sure the coffee table was a bit insulted that I kept calling it a bitch. :)
Tommy Wiseau is Polish, making The Room and "Oh hi, Mark" an outstanding example of Polish culture.
Sometimes I feel bad about myself, and then I remember that people like these commenters exist. Karolina, your videos never fail to put a smile on my face, you've helped me realise I can try making clothes and maybe even succeed, and I'm literally wearing a corset while writing this AND I'M NOT EVEN DEAD. You're great, those guys suck.
As a Brazilian, I have never experienced any kind of war, I have no idea what it feels like to live under attack, so I can only try to help and support those who suffer, through any means possible. You are one of my favorite channels, and at the exact moment the attacks in Ukraine happened, you were one of the first people that came to my mind. I hope everything continues well with your family and Poland.
I usually don’t read or write comments. My focus is on the actual content. Now, I am making an exception. I wanted to let you know that your channel is one of the most creative and original that I have ever seen. Your humor requires a basic common knowledge that I assume not everybody has. It is incredible how some people don’t have the most basic idea of a subject, and still, they adventure to comment on it. Please keep up with the brilliant and creative good work!! Thank you for mentioning the comments people get on their weight! There are so many reasons why a person may be slighter than average, including physical and mental health problems other than eating disorders.
@@hannahk1306 Yeah I heard that one too, a lot... Always been skinny naturally, very skinny even as I was growing up as a teen. It was not about eating too little, on the contrary, I was eating so much, my body was just busy using that energy into building my skeleton ^^
So... when one's seen as overweight, they're mocked, but when one's seen as underweight, they're mocked ? Wow, what a tolerant and nice society we live in...
@@desertprince2392 Yes! People who talk about body positivity are often comfortable shaming people for being too skinny. I always hated Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass for that reason.

8:13 One of the most notable traits of Polish women I've seen is that they have no single consistent traits. German women stereotypically have blond hair and blue eyes, Irish women stereotypically have red hair and green eyes, Italians with black hair and brown eyes, but Poles are such a blend of eastern, western, and southern Europe that my image of a Polish woman is based solely on my own preferences, rather than any consistent natural trends. Germans are known for being tall, Italians are known for being short, Poles go in all directions
I love how your hair turned out, it's a very romantic look and I think it suits you very well! Seeing all the idiotic comments made me realize that, despite my general cynicism, I still overestimate people's intelligence. Genius is never appreciated in her own time.

I would love if you could only make new accounts with a verified email (meaning the email account had to verify your identity) so in case you do nothing but spread hate there is a way to hold you responsible. Karolina has enough self confidence to handle it, but other content creators might not. And cyber bullying is a thing unfortunately.
@@kademelien9363 I think it might be dangerous on so many levels. Hate is not the only problem online. Imagine someone just stealing your mail. They'd basically steal your identity and would be able to do more. I think the best way to fight it is to pay a lot of attention to responsible education. Education is a solution to most of the problems created by humans...
Karolina, I wanted you to know that your latest video has helped me to reach out to my much-loved Polish colleague here in the UK. I do not think I would have thought to ask him how he is and how his family in Poland are doing without having heard what you had to say. It was heart breaking to hear how similar his account was to your own. He said that it is like the horrors of the history books are now on TV and walking the streets. I work at a University and in Senate this morning, we were told of the support we will be giving to Ukranian and Russian students and colleagues. Your story prompted me to ask what we are doing to support our Polish students and colleagues, too.
